#The Trial of Hunter Biden
Text
Jay Kuo at The Status Kuo:
In a letter to the Fox Network, Hunter Biden’s attorneys have put the company on notice that it’s about to get its pants sued off for defamation.  Again. Biden’s attorney, Mark Geragos, best known for his successful representation of celebrities, issued the following statement:
[For the last five years, Fox News has relentlessly attacked Hunter Biden and made him a caricature in order to boost ratings and for its financial gain. The recent indictment of FBI informant Smirnov has exposed the conspiracy of disinformation that has been fueled by Fox, enabled by their paid agents and monetized by the Fox enterprise. We plan on holding them accountable.]
The letter specifically cited the network’s “conspiracy and subsequent actions to defame Mr. Biden and paint him in a false light, the unlicensed commercial exploitation of his image, name, and likeness, and the unlawful publication of hacked intimate images of him.” It also stated that Hunter Biden would be suing the network “imminently.” Supporters of the younger Biden cheered, glad to see he was finally taking the gloves off against purveyors of salacious, fake news. Fox is already reeling from other defamation lawsuits, including one it settled with Dominion Voting Systems for nearly $800 million and another by Smartmatic, a voting software company presently seeking $2.7 billion in damages. Not everyone is happy, though. Advisers to the president had been hoping his son would keep a low profile and not put himself back in the news during an election year. They worried that news stories about the lawsuit would resurface the allegations, even if false and defamatory, which would then suck the air out of the news cycle. Such media time might otherwise be focused on Donald Trump’s problems and Joe Biden’s many accomplishments.
[...]
The Burisma bribes lie
There are three main things Fox was fixated upon that have now opened it to possible massive liability. The first is what I call the fake “Burisma bribes.” Fox gleefully amplified the false claims of former FBI informant Alexander Smirnov, who had conveyed to his handler that he had information that both Joe and Hunter Biden had accepted $5 million in bribes from the Ukrainian company, Burisma, on whose board Hunter Biden once served. This false statement was dutifully recorded, as most statements by informants are no matter how wild, in a standard FBI informant form. This was left to gather dust for years until Rudy Giuliani and the FBI, at Bill Barr’s urging, resurfaced and weaponized it along with help from members of Congress.
For its part, Fox made sure that story went wide and was repeated ad nauseam. For months, host Sean Hannity ran nonstop coverage about the alleged bribe, poisoning viewers with actual Russian disinformation. Hannity’s show alone aired at least 85 segments that amplified these false Burisma bribery claims in 2023. Of those 85 segments, 28 were Hannity monologues.  After his indictment and arrest, Smirnov admitted that the story he received had come straight from Russian intelligence. By centering and repeating the fake story, Fox had become a willing Russian disinformation mule, along with many members of Congress. But it never retracted the story or apologized for its role. Instead, it continued to claim that the source, Smirnov, was “highly credible.”
[...]
Nude pics
We all have heard about, but hopefully not personally seen, intimate images of Hunter Biden at parties and in sexual acts with various partners. His lawyers claim that these images were “hacked, stolen, and/or manipulated” from his private accounts, and then aired by Fox in violation of his civil rights and copyright law. They also appeared during congressional hearings as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Q-MW) infamously used them as visual props. (She’s lucky to be shielded by the Speech and Debate clause of the Constitution, or she could be swept up in a suit as well.) The decision to go after those committing what amounts to “revenge porn” on Hunter Biden, including the Fox Network, is part of a larger legal counteroffensive that began last year, according to sources with NBC News.  As you may recall, the “Hunter Biden Laptop” story emerged as a kind of “October surprise” in 2020. The repair technician who leaked the contents of it to Rudy Giuliani later sued Biden and others for defaming him, claiming he had suffered damage to his reputation because they had claimed the laptop contents were part of a Russian disinformation campaign.
[...]
The “Trial of Hunter Biden”
In fall of 2021, Fox aired a six-part series called “The Trial of Hunter Biden,” which amounted to a mock trial of what his upcoming trial would look like if he were charged with being a foreign agent or with bribery, none of which has happened.  Biden’s lawyers claim in their demand letter that “the series intentionally manipulates the facts, distorts the truth, narrates happenings out of context, and invents dialogue intended to entertain. Thus, the viewer of the series cannot decipher what is fact and what is fiction,” and it should be removed entirely from all streaming services.
[...]
The reality is, Fox and other right wing media continue to give oxygen to Rep. James Comer, who has yet to end his evidence-free impeachment inquiry. At least now, Fox will be on notice that it could face ongoing liability for failing to retract its false reporting, even while pushing out more lies about Hunter Biden. The network will have to tread more carefully, and ultimately it will have to consider whether it doubles down or backs off. Then there is the actual trial of Hunter Biden which is set to begin this fall. Attention will be on the president’s son at that time anyway, but with this lawsuit, just as with his counterclaims and counteroffensives against those who violated his privacy, Hunter Biden will look like a fighter and not just a victim. With all that has been done and said about him, he has very little to lose but a very large ax to grind. And if the GOP overplays its hand, as it inevitably will, it could create voter sympathy for him, even though it had hoped to paint him as a criminal, drug addicted womanizer. Democrats are often accused of not having enough courage to go on the offensive, of being too reticent to push back against the onslaughts of numerous bad faith actors on the right. Then when they do, there’s a good deal of hand wringing about how this assertiveness might come across to the voters.
Glad to see Hunter Biden fight back against the right-wing smear machine by threatening to sue Fixed News for defaming him.

Hunter Biden pleaded guilty in federal tax case
US President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, pleaded guilty to federal tax charges, avoiding a potentially embarrassing trial ahead of the US presidential election.
Biden was due in Los Angeles federal court on charges of failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes. According to the charges, he spent the money on drugs, escorts, and luxury items.
He pleaded guilty to all nine charges. Judge Mark Scarsi told Biden he could face up to 17 years in prison and a fine of as much as $450,000. Sentencing is scheduled for 16 December. Earlier in the day, Biden offered to plead guilty to the charges but not admit wrongdoing. It was an unusual legal manoeuvre dubbed the Alford plea.
The guilty plea breaks a week-long trial that was supposed to take place in the midst of the election campaign. On 5 November, voters will choose between Vice President Kamala Harris, a Democrat, and former Republican President Donald Trump. Joe Biden abandoned his bid for re-election in July under pressure from Democrats.
Hunter Biden is accused of failing to pay taxes from 2016 to 2019, spending huge sums “on drugs, escorts and girlfriends, luxury hotels and rental properties, exotic cars, clothing, and other items of a personal nature,” according to the indictment.
The trial could also shed light on his work with Ukrainian gas company Burisma and other business dealings when his father was a vice president. The indictment said Hunter Biden “earned handsomely” by serving on the boards of Burisma and a Chinese private investment fund.
He is also appealing a conviction in a separate case in Delaware for illegally buying guns while using drugs. The White House stated, President Biden had ruled out the possibility of a pardon.

It's a Trap! - 06/12/2024
Hunter Biden's guilty verdict for purchasing a gun while addicted to illegal drugs was desired by the Biden team so they can say that the Justice system is working, and therefore Donald Trump's conviction is valid. It clearly is not to anyone with a functioning brain whose been following these trials through a more objective source than the major outlets like the Epoch Times, Newsmax, the Daily Wire, OAN, (One America Network), TCN (Tucker Carlson Network), Mark Levin, Dan Bongino, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, and other conservatives.
The laptop was used as the main source of evidence in this Hunter trial, thus proving that it is authentic. That also proves that the FBI and DOJ, in conjunction with the White House, had lied about it being Russian disinformation, and they suppressed it from the public so that Joe Biden could get elected in 2020. Given that this is Hunter's first felony offense, along with him being the President's son, there's probably zero chance that he goes to jail. I would imagine that he'll appeal the conviction.
The more serious Hunter trial on tax evasion is coming this September 5th, and many legal experts like Jonathon Turley and Alan Dershowitz think that the defense will agree to a plea deal. Obama is sweating this one out because if it goes to trial, all the stuff about the Biden family receiving payments from foreign sources through influence peddling will come out, and Barrack Obama could be called as a witness. Joe Biden was Vice President at that time, so his boss, Obama, would be heavily implicated simply because he was the one in charge with all the power, making him legally culpable. I'm sure this administration does not want it to go to trial and will do anything they can to stop it.
Another interesting aspect of the gun trial is that Hunter's attorneys are suggesting a possible appeal based on a second amendment violation for indicting him because he was addicted to drugs when he applied to obtain the gun. There is no mention in the constitution of drug usage as a disqualifier for purchasing or owning a firearm. That's a bit ironic since Joe Biden doesn't want any legal U.S. citizens to own a gun. This is just too much, crazy times.
Don't be fooled by the left's deception, it's a trap!

CNN: Hunter Biden conviction shatters Trump’s persecution narrative
The political reaction to Hunter Biden's guilty verdict puts the Republikkkan lie, of a Democratically 'weaponized' Justice Department, to rest - for now.
I'm sure that I'll be brought up again - the For Reich loves to repeat their own foolish lies.
Continuing with their baseless lies of a Biden crime family, the Rump's inner circle of enablers are still trying to smear Prez Biden - again, with no evidence in sight...
According to the liers, the whole Hunter Biden verdict magically shielded Prez Biden from unspecified 'major crimes.'
When asked where's the proof to these allegations, the For Reich Republikkkans could only mutter that they're working on it...
I'll bet "fabrication" is the correct word here.
Then, the Rump Kissers changed topics - exposing their wish to hold a contempt vote on a Mr. Garland.
(For the much sought Biden Tapes?)
What I found particularly important is that, to the Republikkkans, "The truth doesn't matter."
They have no problem, at all, living with all of the lies that they create...
End.

Robert Taft at The Guardian:
Republicans responded to Hunter Biden’s conviction on Tuesday of lying about his drug use to buy a gun by doubling down on conspiracy theories that many senior party figures have been using to try and damage his president father. Despite the fact that Joe Biden’s son could now face a hefty jail sentence, Donald Trump’s election campaign and its surrogates repeated unfounded attack lines that the conviction was part of a conspiracy to deflect attention from more serious crimes and represented the use of the Department of Justice (DoJ) as a political weapon.
Republicans have long sought to use Hunter Biden’s woes and business dealings as a political weapon against Biden, ignoring the fact that Trump himself is also now a convicted felon whose own business empire has been fined hundreds of millions of dollars for fraudulent practises.
That tactic continued in the wake of Hunter’s guilty verdict. “This trial has been nothing more than a distraction from the real crimes of the Biden Crime Family, which has raked in tens of millions of dollars from China, Russia and Ukraine,” the Trump campaign said in a statement. Matt Gaetz, the far-right congressman from Florida, was distinctly dismissive, posting on X: “The Hunter Biden gun conviction is kinda dumb tbh.” That was echoed by Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, who derided the conviction as a distraction from worse crimes he claimed have been committed by the president’s family. “Hunter Biden guilty. Yawn,” Kirk wrote. “The true crimes of the Biden Crime Family remain untouched. This is a fake trial trying to make the Justice system appear ‘balanced.’ Don’t fall for it.” Nancy Mace, a Republican congresswoman for South Carolina, implied that the verdict was a sham. “Timing is everything. The veil of fairness in the justice system under Potus,” she wrote.
Stephen Miller, one of Donald Trump’s closest advisers during his first presidency, went further still, posting: “[The] DoJ is running election interference for Joe Biden – that’s why DOJ did NOT charge Hunter with being an unregistered foreign agent (FARA) or any crime connected with foreign corruption. Why? Because all the evidence would lead back to JOE.” The negative drumbeat underscored how the prosecution – and now conviction – of Hunter Biden has undermined a Republican narrative that the justice department has been “weaponised” by Biden’s administration to pursue a vendetta against Trump, who was last month convicted of 34 counts of document falsification to conceal hush-money payments to an adult actor. Trump’s case was led by a New York state prosecutor, who does not work under the department’s jurisdiction, while Hunter Biden was prosecuted by the DoJ, which is part of his father’s administration.
Wah wah wah!!! Republicans whine about the 3 Hunter Biden guilty convictions (even after hoping and praying for him to be guilty) and play poutrage games in order to hurt his father Joe’s election chances.

The 80th anniversary of D-Day, which falls on June 6, 2024, marks a significant milestone in commemorating one of the most pivotal events of World War II. On this day in 1944, Allied forces launched Operation Overlord, the largest amphibious invasion in history, to liberate Nazi-occupied France. The landings on the beaches of Normandy were a turning point in the war, leading to the eventual defeat of Nazi Germany. Historical Context D-Day, or the Normandy Invasion, involved meticulous planning and coordination among the Allied powers, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and various other nations. General Dwight D. Eisenhower, the Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force, orchestrated this complex operation. The invasion fleet consisted of over 5,000 ships and landing craft, supported by 11,000 aircraft. More than 156,000 Allied troops stormed the beaches at five designated sectors: Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword. Commemorative Events The 80th anniversary of D-Day will be marked by a series of solemn and celebratory events in Normandy and around the world. These activities will honor the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers, sailors, and airmen who participated in the invasion. Key events will include:
Ceremonies at Normandy Beaches: Official ceremonies at Omaha and Utah beaches, featuring speeches by dignitaries, wreath-laying, and moment of silence.
Parades and Reenactments: Military parades and historical reenactments will bring history to life, demonstrating the scale and significance of the invasion.
Veteran Tributes: Special tributes and recognition events for surviving D-Day veterans, highlighting their personal stories and contributions.
Educational Programs: Schools and institutions will host lectures, exhibitions, and discussions to educate younger generations about the historical importance of D-Day.
Media Coverage: Documentaries, interviews, and special broadcasts will provide in-depth analysis and reflections on the legacy of D-Day.
Reflections and Legacy The 80th anniversary is a moment to reflect on the immense courage and determination of the Allied forces. It is also a reminder of the profound impact D-Day had on the course of history, leading to the liberation of Europe from Nazi tyranny and the restoration of peace. The sacrifices made on June 6, 1944, underscore the values of freedom, democracy, and international cooperation. International Significance The anniversary is not just a commemoration for the nations directly involved in D-Day but also serves as a global reminder of the importance of unity in the face of tyranny. It underscores the necessity of remembering and learning from history to prevent future conflicts. The 80th anniversary of D-Day is an opportunity to honor the past while looking towards the future. As we commemorate this historic day, we acknowledge the bravery of those who fought and the resilience of those who endured. This milestone anniversary serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring spirit of freedom and the importance of working together to uphold the principles for which so many gave their lives. Y'all ever have a social event with your family and have the debilitating argument in your head about correcting them on things?
like yes I love my family but they're wrong about this very important thing that I spend thousands of dollars a year to know is wrong and so they should want to be right about it so it's not "being a smartass,"
But at the same point in time I've disagreed with them too many times™️ to correct them and it's bordering on being disrespectful and ruining the function for the sake of spreading correct information.

Hunter Biden dropped his lawsuit against Fox News over “mock trial” mini-series
Hunter Biden dropped his lawsuit against Fox News for publishing nude photos and videos of him in a “mock trial” feature show about his overseas dealings, according to Reuters.
A statement from his attorneys filed Sunday did not include a basis for the voluntary dismissal of the lawsuit. ABC News reported that Hunter, President Joe Biden’s son, dropped the lawsuit with the intention of refiling it against the new defendants, citing a person familiar with his legal strategy.
A Fox News Media spokesman reported the company was repeating previous comments that the lawsuit was “politically motivated” and “devoid of merit.” Fox aired “The Trial of Hunter Biden: A Mock Trial for the American People” on its streaming platform Fox Nation in October 2022, but closed it in April this year under threat of a lawsuit from Hunter Biden’s lawyers.
Hunter Biden filed a lawsuit earlier this month. According to the lawsuit, the series showed a fictional trial of him on charges of illegal foreign lobbying and bribery, crimes he has not been charged with. The series also showed photos and videos of a nude Biden engaging in sexual acts.
The dismissal of the lawsuit came hours after Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race under pressure from fellow Democrats.
