#The hanged man rusts

Aside from the great round table of the town hall and the fierce-looking seat at its helm, there was one other thing that had been in Camelot since before history: the Hanged Man.

It's honestly barely short from a miracle that I hadn't drawn Merlin yet, like the vibes are so up my alley. Finally did it, and I'm glad that I did. I haven't loved loved my art in a while but this I do.

Love how in every hanged man fanart i see Brian is just chilling there upside down, hair perfect, metal spotless, tits hanging out. He literally had an entire song called the hanged man RUSTS and decided he was too bitchy to actually rust. The fact he was literally so dirty his name read as merlin? Ohhh thats just a stylish ambigram. Love that.

I think “I hear what you say and I’m listening / But hanged man your words make no sense” pretty well sums up what my dog thinks when we tell her to back up or sit down. She understands the words, but she doesn’t care and will continue doing what she wants.

11: Toss up between The Hanged Man Rusts by The Mechanisms and Curses by The Crane Wives

The Hanged Man Rusts always gets me thinking about fathers and sons, the cycle of violence, and some of my favourite tropes in tragedy and Arthuriana. The line "I have no son dead or alive / It’s true that I once had a daughter / But she fell to barbarian knives" also gives me weirdly good gender feelings. Even though it's about Arthur not realising that Mordred is in fact his son, and that his lost child is a trans man... I don't know, for some reason it just feels like good gender to me.

Curses by The Crane Wives is something I can listen to over and over. After the Magnus Archives finale, I put that song on repeat. Something about it reminds me of Little Talks by Of Monsters and Men, a song that I listened to over and over again when I was a teenager.
