Today I saw something that reminded me of this painting, from 'yesterday'. "Thresholds II", 80 cm by 120 cm, acrylic and synthetic paint on canvas. This was a time when I was painting differently - yet all those techniques remain in my art, in different ways, with probably a more free flowing brushstroke now. As a painter I look at a painting differently and see things I'd do differently now - but seeing this painting again inspires me. ☺There is so much going on here; scratching the paint through, layers of paint, competing textures. I'll show you some close up photos soon. Though this painting looks a little like it fits #AbstractExpressionism it also has a semblance of #realism, from influences from paintings for the #stationsofthecross that are placed in #Churches, the arch derived from }Arab / #IslamicArchitecture and is about #inclusivity , #togetherness, and #thehumanexperience . Coming back from dinner to the hotel and saw several friends and acquaintances at the watering hole. I was lifting my camera to take a picture of the occasion and saw this shot in my screen, It just made me feel welcome, a circle of love. I took a few shots, and I’m so glad I did. Upon viewing this later, I feel like it captures a tiny bit of essence of the human experience.
