new interview dropped: käärijä talks about maledives, thailand and traveling
some highlights:
käärijä's first vacation (that he sort of remembers) was to thailand in 1997.
some of his cousins are half thai. on that -97 trip he remembers they visited a small village where their cousins relatives are from.
his most memorable vacation is the boys trip to thailand he did when he was ~19.
he doesn't like to plan his vacations that much in advance, prefers to go with the flow.
swimming pools > swimming in the ocean
he hasn't planned his next trip yet. he has the whole september off so probably will travel somewhere then.
the host asks käärijä where in maledives he stayed when he was there after eurovision last year. käärijä laughs and says he doesn't remember exactly XD.
wants to travel to the maledives again. a lot of this interview is talking about the maledives and pros of traveling there (the podcast is produced by the traveling agency that sponsored käärijä's trip there)
overall a very nice interview! käärijä sounds relaxed and happy to yap about thailand and beach holidays.

I hope he does promo things with other artists too, like the ladbible video is often done in couples and that would have been so much fun with someone like Lewis Capaldi or Sam fender or anyone really. I just feel like louis is so absent from the actual music scene and when he is there he's just there as a fan, I think it would be really good for his credibility as a musician and for exposure if he did more things with other artists and if he started being considered as their peer

Everyone please read this whole thing it’s so good!
My favorite part:
And I think there were many moments where I was actually able to look at her in the wings of the show and during the little break and say earnestly, ‘Oh, I really love doing this with you. I'm so glad we’re doing this. And I’m grateful.’
Yeah. That kind of thing. I would never say that in front of the fans because they would start jerking off. But it’s true. Neither of us is sentimental. I would say she gets more earnest than I do. But yeah. It’s nice to have those moments. I think we’re entering the earnest era.

https://www.tumblr.com/baronessblixen/729159497036218368/i-had-assumed-sex-ed-was-an-equity-project-but none of the actors did any press because of the strikes. a journo on twitter posted an old interview she did with some of the cast and said promo was a no-go because of the current happening. it's a shame because gillian couldn't do proper promo for the crown because of covid lockdown and now this.
Yeah, I saw that the other day. I mean was it really that much different with TC than compared to other projects? They always just sit together and talk about something. During covid they just did it from home. Maybe it's just me, but to me that made no difference.

was thinking about another observation i want to put into my hypothetical mouth congress video essay whenever i get around to actually making it and i had to take a step back like "jess you already have so much you want to cover how long is this video essay going to be"
and then i remembered that interview where paul bellini said the original cut of the mouth congress documentary was over three hours and "nobody wants to watch that, even those of us in the band couldn't watch it!" (side note i would watch that. release the bellini cut lmao)
anyway idk exactly how long this imaginary video essay is going to be but if it's even one minute over the length of the mouth congress documentary (which i believe is an hour and sixteen minutes?) i'm putting that interview clip as the opening bc of the irony

most days I feel like most of what I do in terms of trying to accommodate other disabled people is just. the bare minimum. even though I know that I do stuff that other people don’t, it doesn’t feel like I’m putting in any particular effort beyond just... basic decency and compassion. it feels like the people who don’t are failing to perform basic decency and compassion, y’know?
and most of the time the responses I get feel in line with that. just other people recognising basic decency when performed. a nod, a “thank you”, where appropriate, mostly just unacknowledged because it’s not something that needs acknowledged. it’s the same kind of response I tend to give
but sometimes I get a response that’s just heartbreaking and that always pushes me to keep paying attention and keep trying to do more because if so many other people are going to fail at basic kindness then somebody’s got to pick up the slack and if I don’t, who will?
