The Perfect Tower 2 Halloween Event

This year's Halloween Event is much more elaborate than previous years, as Dr. Cub- err… Dr. Pumpkical, has discovered a brand new scary Halloween Island for you to build a spooky tower on! You collect pumpkins, blood, and souls from Tower Testing, and use them to complete quests and obtain rewards. Accessing the Event Before anything else, you must be at least Military Tier 1 to get access to the event. This is so new players don't get too confused immediately. Once you are there, you will see a ship button at the left side of your screen. In addition, the spooky Ghost Ship will have appeared docked at the Shipyard. Clicking either of these will take you to the Halloween Island. The event will end on November 7th, so make sure you complete it before then!

Spooky Tower When first arriving, the island will be empty. Clicking the pumpkin icon on the left side will let you enter the Spooky Tower. Spooky Tower at Level 3 with lots of bats and graves.

Upon entering, you will be met with a menu with 5 tabs: Quests, Spooky Tower, Pumpkins, Blood, and Souls. The Quests tab is very simple. Complete the listed objectives, and you will have completed the event. The Spooky Tower tab is where you upgrade the Spooky Tower itself. There are 4 levels, and each level gives 3 event exclusive Town Assets to decorate the main Town. The Pumpkins tab is where you spend Pumpkins you earn from Tower Testing. You unlock Blood, Soul, and Factory Pumpkin collection here. The Blood tab is where you spend the blood you've drained from enemies in Tower Testing. The Souls tab is where you spend the souls you've reaped from enemies.

The Perfect Tower 2 Halloween Event Resources The main resource of the event is the Pumpkins, which you get in Tower Testing. Every time the wave counter at the top changes, there is a small chance that a bouncing pumpkin will spawn. Clicking on it will give you Pumpkins. Only 1 pumpkin can be on the map at a time, so click it as fast as you can!

Blood must be unlocked from the Pumpkin tab in the Spooky Tower. Once unlocked, simply killing enemies will give you their blood. Easy and simple. Souls also must be unlocked from the Pumpkin tab. Unlike Blood, Souls require you to equip #darkness tagged modules on your blueprint to collect them. Equip as many as you can to maximize the amount of Souls you get. For you math nerds, the exact chance of getting Souls on a kill is 1-((1-c)^x)%, where c is the chance you get per module (1% to 20%) and x is the number of #darkness modules you have equipped.

More Halloween Resources Not to mention, there are a second kind of Pumpkins that are exclusively for Factory. Also must be unlocked in the Pumpkin tab, and are acquired the same way as normal Pumpkins, clicking on the bouncing pumpkin in Tower Testing. These Factory Pumpkins are used to make Pumpkin Producers, which automatically generate normal Pumpkins (at a very slow rate). Do note that the Pumpkins Producers are not affected by most producer bonuses, and are only affected by the Power Plant's timeboost.

If you have the Factory Specialization Military Perk, you can also plant Factory Pumpkins to automatically receive them as well. Be sure to timeboost Factory in Powerplant so they are done growing much faster!

Finally, there are 3 other, non-spendable(?) resources. Pumpkin Bricks, Bats, and Graves. All 3 give a minor resource bonus, and require you to reach a certain amount of Pumpkins, Blood, and Souls respectively. Pumpkin Bricks are used to upgrade the Spooky Tower in the titular Spooky Tower tab. Bats and Graves decorate the outside, and are used to unlock the Town Assets in the Spooky Tower Tab. 12 Pumpkin Bricks, 50 Bats, and 30 Graves are required to complete the event. The End So what do you get for completing the event? An event exclusive Shadow Achievement and artifact. While the achievement does not count to the resource conversion rate, as all secret Shadow Achievements are not required, the artifact gives a +5% bonus to resource gain in Tower Testing. In case you have missed the event, don't worry! Next Halloween will give you another shot at the achievement and artifact. The Pumpkin Artifact.

Hello everyone, Mage of Light Nick Card here. With fall in full swing, it feels so nice to cozy up underneath a blanket on the couch in the morning. Time for some news though.

Swap til you Drop

Just a few days ago, the Swap in Three Middle With You event on rpgmaker.net concluded. Your dear newsletter writer entered, and managed to finish their second half game, Despoina. Unfortunately, it is a bit unpolished in places due to the time limit, but it can however be played start to finish. It is one of the very few vaguely period fantasy sword and sorcery rpg's I've ever worked on that seem to have a somewhat standard setting. Of course, I did spice up my half compared to piano's more dnd inspired first half, but it generally fits all together, to a point. Also, Delsin, the one who received the second half of my first half game, The Knife Hawk, also managed to reach the finish line. I have yet to play through it, but I trust that she did well with the hostile puzzle tower concept I handed over.

A Park of Danger!

On Thursday, a bus pulled into town, offering a ride to Pokemon Professor Coleman Branch and any others working with him to a location simply known as The Park. Accompanying him was Heir of Time Rise Emit and their torracat, Shadow, Rogue of Heart Charles and one of their many buizels, PKMN TRAINER HAZEL and her Monferno, MONF. Leading the tour was a nervous squirrel consort by the name of Dez. The bus flew them straight to the location of The Park, supposedly intersecting with one of the 12 aspected hot spots across Starter Planet. The location was reportedly very ambitious in scale, but still incomplete. The party visited a location with a great deal of subtly inaccurate pokemon information, and soon ended up encountering a number of archen. Professor Branch managed to peacefully handle the archen, but was soon interrupted by the demands of a witch of life who appears to like listening to Frank Sinatra. Witch of Life Joy sent out an alpha-sized Archeops against the group, having life-boosted it to unsafe levels. She also managed to get Rise in a very angry state, which probably spelled her doom. Rise gave shadow a timeboost, allowing them to make up for their general inaccuracy with sheer number of attacks. This proved to be integral to fighting off the Archeops that continued to be healed and leveled up by life powers. Rise directed Shadow to victory, and as a result, Shadow evolved into an incineroar! Joy tried to attack Shadow directly, but was met by a punch to the face, and containment foam. Rise's sister, Brae Emit, appeared and handled much of the logistics of the return home. Joy was taken to the pokemon center to recover. The pokemon were escorted to Unity Ranch for rehabilitation. Charles was poisoned, but thankfully was able to be treated by Nurse Eden. It has also been confirmed that Voidco is financially involved in The Park's development, which may mean that there could be a dungeon somewhere on or near park grounds. I do wonder if there's any maps of the place available. That would sure make it easier to navigate, considering the reported massive size of the space.

I think that does it for the week. While the park crew was out however, Jovin was handling gym leader stuff and encountered an unidentified goose/duck pokemon. Further investigation is needed. Also, there is a possibility of a pokemon contest hall being built at some point. Left beef has been going in some interesting directions lately, and I hope I get time to draw more panels soon. Challenges and research

The challenges I came across were rather painful tasks:

The biggest of which was the timeboost, the issue with the timeboost was that I needed it to add to the timer, however the timeboost was it’s own asset, so unfortunately, you can’t reference a widget within a asset, you can only reference it in the character it’s viewport is displayed to. SO, what I did with the help of Harris was go through the timeboost to create a custom event that destroys the Timeboost, I then references this in the Player character so that when he overlapped the timeboost it destroyed the actor and set a condition to true, within the timer, it then calls the character and has the condition that was set to true, allows 60seconds to be added to the timer, this took ages to figure out because I was unfamiliar with how things get referenced within one another. The second biggest challenge was creating tall buildings to collapse without destroying mid fall and also adding points after their destruction, I did this by making one actor have a interchangeable skin so that I could duplicate and replace the tall building, I had it play a timeline that changed the buildings location on the lower access and then after that had played, delay it’s destruction by 5 seconds and add 50 points by calling the player and having it add 50 to his points. And finally the last challenge that I had was creating the punch animation, now creating the model was easy, all I did was change the rotation of the arms so that they were 90 degrees upwards, with this I then set it so that whenever the kaiju left clicked, it was make one of the arms invisible, and the punching arm visible until he released, the issue that came with this is that the tall and small buildings relied on the player left clicking to destroy them, so it ended up conflicting, to fix it, I put the punch left click within a event tick which just seemed to do the job, I’d assume because it allowed for it to do the animation every tick which prevented it from conflicting with the buildings.. As for research I based a lot of my work on pre-existing games: -The timer and the points system is kind of a universal idea, this was just a general idea taken from the nether of a million failed games. - The actual destruction of buildings was based on games such as destroy all humans and rampage. - The speed boost and timer boost are based on racing game power ups. other than that I think the primary inspiration for the game is blatantly Kaiju’s such as godzilla and King Kong, for obvious reasons.
