Tooth Extraction: When It’s Necessary and How It Works
Hearing that a tooth needs to be pulled can sound intimidating, especially for a parent whose child is undergoing the procedure. However, tooth extraction for children is sometimes the best solution to protect oral health and support proper dental development. Understanding when extraction is necessary—and how the process works—can help reduce anxiety and encourage informed decisions.
Tooth extractions are typically recommended when a tooth is too damaged or decayed to be saved. In children, extractions may also be advised if a baby tooth doesn’t fall out on time, is blocking the path of an adult tooth, or if orthodontic treatment requires creating space in the mouth. Impacted wisdom teeth in teens are another common reason for extractions.
Dentists only recommend extractions when they’re confident that removing the tooth will benefit the child’s long-term oral health. The goal is always to avoid complications such as crowding, infection, or misalignment.
The Tooth Extraction Process
The process of tooth extraction is more straightforward than many expect. First, the dentist will review X-rays and discuss the reason for the extraction. Local anesthesia is used to numb the area, ensuring the child feels little to no discomfort during the procedure. In some cases—especially for anxious patients or complex extractions—sedation options may also be offered for a stress-free experience.
The dentist then gently loosens the tooth using specialized tools before removing it carefully from the socket. In surgical cases, such as impacted teeth, a small incision may be needed to access the tooth. After the extraction, gauze is placed over the site to help control bleeding and begin the healing process.
Parents are given post-extraction care instructions, including what foods to avoid, how to manage discomfort, and how to keep the area clean. Children typically recover quickly, especially with plenty of rest and soft foods.
From the dental team’s point of view, performing a successful extraction involves more than just removing a tooth—it’s about making the experience as smooth and positive as possible for both the child and parent.
If you're looking for Affordable Tooth Extraction near Rosharon, TX, several pediatric dental specialists in the area are experienced in handling extractions with a gentle, child-centered approach.

it’s baffling that health and dental insurance are two separate things
like. if your teeth get bad enough you Can Absolutely Die and they Will Impact Your Health. why are they separate
#plus if doctors and dentists worked in the same places#if they had dentists in hospitals#would that not be better.#keep them together on the bill but soearate in the facility#oh you have a life threatening infection. Okay welcome to the er#we will give you antibiotics and get you in for emergency tooth extraction immediately and you can start the recovery process#as soon as the procedure is over#I am not super w ell informed on this admittedly I’m sure there’s a ton of nuance and ways for this to go wrong#but. How Long Does Dental Implant Treatment Take
Dental implant treatment is a multi-step process that requires careful planning and patience. The entire procedure, from the initial consultation to the final restoration, can take several months to over a year. Here’s a breakdown of the timeline you might expect.
Initial Consultation and Evaluation: The process starts with a thorough consultation where your dentist or oral surgeon will assess your oral health. This often includes X-rays or a CT scan to evaluate the bone structure and determine if any additional procedures, such as bone grafting, are necessary. This evaluation phase typically takes one or two appointments and can extend the timeline if a bone graft is required. Bone grafting may take a few months to heal before the implant procedure can begin.
Implant Placement: Once you’re ready for the implant placement, the procedure itself is relatively quick. Performed under local anesthesia, it involves inserting a titanium post into the jawbone to serve as an artificial tooth root. This surgical step usually takes one to two hours and is done in a single visit. The recovery from this step is generally manageable, with minimal discomfort.
Healing and Osseointegration: After the implant is placed, the next crucial phase is osseointegration, where the implant fuses with the jawbone. This healing period is essential for ensuring the implant's stability and typically lasts between three to six months. The duration can vary based on individual healing rates and the quality of the bone.
Final Restoration: Once the implant has integrated with the bone, the final phase involves placing the dental crown, bridge, or denture. This step requires taking impressions of your teeth to create a custom restoration that fits well and matches the surrounding teeth. The fabrication and fitting of the final restoration usually take a few weeks.
In summary, while the surgical placement of a dental implant might only take a day, the full treatment process—including preparation, healing, and final restoration—can span several months. Following your dentist’s guidance and attending all follow-up appointments is crucial for a successful outcome.

Can I Drink Soda 3 Days After Tooth Extraction?

Introduction:
After a tooth extraction, it's natural to wonder when you can resume your normal dietary habits. One common question that arises is whether it's safe to drink soda just three days after the procedure. In this blog post, we'll explore this topic and provide guidance on what beverages are safe to consume during the recovery period.
The Healing Process After Tooth Extraction:
To understand whether soda is safe to drink three days after a tooth extraction, it's essential to consider the healing process. After a tooth is removed, a blood clot forms in the socket to protect the underlying bone and nerves. This blood clot is crucial for proper healing and should not be disturbed.
Risks of Drinking Soda After Tooth Extraction:
While it may be tempting to enjoy a soda, especially if you're used to consuming it regularly, there are several risks associated with drinking soda too soon after a tooth extraction:
Dislodging the Blood Clot: Sucking on a straw or drinking carbonated beverages like soda can create suction in the mouth, which may dislodge the blood clot. This can lead to a painful condition known as dry socket, where the bone and nerves are exposed.
Acidic Content: Soda is highly acidic, which can irritate the extraction site and delay healing. Acidic beverages can also weaken tooth enamel, increasing the risk of cavities and other dental issues.
Sugar Content: Most sodas contain high amounts of sugar, which can contribute to plaque buildup and gum disease. During the healing process, it's essential to maintain good oral hygiene to prevent complications.
What Beverages Can I Drink After Tooth Extraction?
During the first few days after a tooth extraction, it's best to stick to clear, room-temperature liquids that are gentle on the extraction site. Here are some examples of beverages you can safely consume:
Water
Clear broths
Herbal teas (without caffeine)
Fruit juices (without pulp)
Milkshakes (without straw)
When Can I Safely Drink Soda After Tooth Extraction? It's generally recommended to wait at least one week before consuming soda or other carbonated beverages after a tooth extraction. This allows the extraction site to heal properly and reduces the risk of complications. However, it's always best to follow your dentist's advice, as the healing process can vary from person to person.
Things to do after tooth extraction:
youtube
Conclusion:
While it may be tempting to enjoy a soda soon after a tooth extraction, it's essential to prioritize your oral health and follow your dentist's recommendations. Drinking soda too soon after the procedure can increase the risk of complications and delay healing. Stick to clear, room-temperature liquids during the first few days, and wait at least one week before reintroducing soda into your diet. If you have any concerns or questions, consult your dentist for personalized advice.

Medicine & Marshmallows
Summary: Law’s chronically ill partner hates managing their medications, so he decides to make it a little more enjoyable.

It was quiet as you sat down with your least favorite box at one of the communal desks in the infirmary; the only sound to be heard was the steady hum of the Polar Tang. For a moment, you just sat there, staring into nothingness. You hated doing this— the premise, the necessity, the task itself, was all loathsome to you. Resigned, you lifted the lid and glared at the box’s contents as though they had personally insulted you.
After a few moments, your trance was broken by a tap at the door. There in the entryway stood Law, two steaming mugs in hand, and a paper bag in his mouth. “I come bearing gifts,” he mumbled around the parcel between his teeth.
You offered a halfhearted smile as he made his way across the room to put everything down on the side of the desk opposite the accursed box. “I hate doing this,” you sighed.
Sitting down at your side, Law looked at you sympathetically. “I know you do, but it’s a necessary evil. Hopefully my peace offerings help with that.” He gestured at the drinks and small bag, dragging them towards you. “This week is extra special, since we just stopped at that island,” he continued.
Wrapping your hands around the warm ceramic, you peered into the mug and laughed. “Went a little overboard on the marshmallows this time, huh babe?” Based on his generally stoic, no nonsense attitude, one may quickly assume that the Surgeon of Death exclusively drank black coffee. In truth, however, Trafalgar Law had an insatiable sweet tooth; when it was just the two of you, he generally opted for hot chocolate in your matching polar bear mugs.
Law looked up at you from where he was rummaging through the bag he had brought with him. “I know how much you despise doing this, so I added extra to make you feel better. And I picked these up from that bakery we saw yesterday.”
You felt a surge of affection for the man beside you as he pulled out two cinnamon rolls. “You didn’t have to do that, Law. Thank you.”
He smiled softly, in the way that he reserved exclusively for you. “I know how much you hate box day; I figured I could make it at least a bit more enjoyable.”
That’s what you had dubbed this dreaded weekly chore: “box day.” At the beginning of each week, you had to take out that accursed box and sort your countless medications into their daily compartments. The process was tedious and mind numbing, but you knew it was a necessary evil. Much to his credit, however, your partner did what he could to make it less unpleasant.
One by one, labeled bottles of multicolored capsules and tablets, each with a different purpose, were extracted from the box. With Law’s help, you made quick work of organizing the vast array of medications that kept you in working order, periodically taking sips from your warm beverage. Finally putting the box away, you gave Law’s hand a gentle squeeze.
“Thank you for helping. You make it so much easier.”
Law’s eyes were soft when they met yours. “Of course, love. I know it’s a lot, and that it can be overwhelming, but I want to make sure you’re healthy.”
“I know you do,” you replied; “and I love you all the more for it.”
The doctor pressed a soft kiss to your forehead. “How about these cinnamon rolls as a reward for a job well done?”
“That sounds delightful.” Keeping up with your litany of medications may be unpleasant, but you would do it a thousand times over if it meant you were well enough to stay by Law’s side.

Clayton, Kess, or Luke with reader who is loopy from anesthesia??
Thought this could count as a short prompt, but if you don’t agree, please ignore.
Love your writing!! 💛
Thank you, lovely! Picked my husband, Clay! I hope you enjoy this :) Big requests/full fic/big idea requests are closed at the moment but drabble and prompt requests are still open. Writing Masterlist
Clayton think he's prepared for it, he knows that anaesthesia can make people a little woozy, a little loopy, a little strange. He knows that you're probably not going to be quite yourself when he comes to pick you back up from your wisdom tooth removal to take you home and he thinks he's ready for that. Ready to make sure you eat the right foods and get safely home. Ready to deal with whatever silly comments you decide to make. But, boy, oh boy, does he really underestimate just how hard anaesthetic is going to hit you as someone whose never been under, someone who rarely drinks or loses control. Someone who often overthinks their every word.
When he comes to get you, you're led out by a nurse, a little uneven in your gait, stumbling as you go like a new born deer. Your cheeks look massive a combination of the swelling that's already beginning and the gauze shoved into your cheeks. You're a little ashy in the face, not your usual colouring and he's standing before you even reach him, bridging the gap between the two of you until the nurse lets him take your arm in his.
Clay's careful to avoid your jaw and cheek when his hand rests on the base of your neck, thumb rubbing against the hollow there like always as he tries to bring your attention back into the world around you. To remove a little bit of that dazed look you're sporting.
"Hey, sweet girl, how you doing?" You blink up at him like you're barely processing his existence, gauze stuffed in your mouth to stem any bleeding from your tooth extraction, cheeks like a hamster.
"You cam't call me tha'" Your voice is muffled and slurred, words coming out barely legible as you try to speak around the gauze and the numbness in your jaw, You frown at him as you say it , like you're about to scold him for calling you 'sweet girl'. Something he's called you almost every day since you started dating.
"Why not, baby? I always call you that?" You slap away his hand, the one at your throat, pushing him away from you in a way that you've never done before and he lets you. Of course he lets you, he'd never touch you if you didn't want it and while it makes his heart sink, he also knows you're a little drowsy, a little woozy, a little confused right now. He knows you're not your usual self.
"I hab a boyfrien' and he woul'nt like it." You cross your arms as you scold him, the way you sway on the spot and the slurring definitely taking some of the bite out of it.
Clay can't help but let out a huff of amusement, a light laugh as he starts to smile at you, teeth peeking out from behind his lips, dimples starting to show. Your frown falters at his smile, getting that starry eyed look you tend to get whenever he smiles your way. Not immune to his charms even when you're convinced you have a different boyfriend somewhere.
"Baby, I am your boyfriend." You gasp at his words, mouth dropping open, eyes wide and glimmering with wonder like he's just told you that unicorns exist. Part of him wishes he had his phone out to record, to show you later.
"Reawlly?"
"Yeah, baby, it's me, Clayton."
You gasp, hands reaching out to touch him. You paw at his face clumsily, fingers tracing his features and pushing at strands of his hair. "You're so pwetty!" You let him step back into your personal space, let his hands reach for your waist as your fingers find his chains. Old habits seeming to die hard even when you don't recognise him, your body seems to, muscle memory taking hold.
"Thank you, sweet girl, you're pretty too." Your eyes grow wider at his words, cheeks flushing, mouth dropping open like you can barely believe him.
"You thin' 'm pwetty?"
"Of course I do, baby, I love you," His grin gets wider, eyes softening, twinkling at you with humour because fuck if it isn't adorable that you're so taken aback by it all.
"You lobe me?"
"Yeah, of course I do, you're my girl," Your face heats up, flushing with colour moments before you hide your face into his chest. Too embarrassed to look at him, sweetly shy because this handsome man is saying he's your boyfriend and you're not sure how to process it.
Clay's hands slide into your hair, stroking through the strands, massaging the back of your neck and scalp, waiting for you to calm down from the rush of giddy energy. You used to be this giddy at the start, before you were in a relationship, but he hasn't seen it in a while. He forgot how much he missed it, the shyness that openly told him how much you admired him.
"You're okay, baby...it's a bit too much, huh?" You nod into his chest, face still planted there as Clay strokes soothing lengths down your hair and back, his other hand wrapping around your waist to keep you close. "How about we go home and I get you some ice-cream, sound good?"
"Ywes, plwease..."

How would AGSZC act when their kid lose their first teeth?
Sephiroth: Does the exact opposite of what Hojo did when he was a child (where Hojo would forcefully extract teeth for "growth monitoring" and endless lab tests). Instead, he makes a whole ceremony of it, complete with ice cream, comfort items, and a special box for the tooth that is definitely NOT going to any laboratory. Deliberately creates the most normal, civilian tooth fairy experience imaginable, complete with gil under the pillow and a cheerful note.
Zack: Figures why the hell not and introduces his kid to the ancient Gongaga tradition of burying the tooth in the backyard under a full moon, watering it with "blessed water" (tap water he waved a stick over), and teaching them traditional prayers. When his kid points out that this is, in fact, textbook witchcraft, Zack vehemently denies it while drawing protective circles in the dirt. When a glowing plant with teeth grows from the burial spot, Zack cheerfully tells his screaming child to "embrace their new garden friend"
Cloud: Gets a bit squeamish around the whole losing-body-parts thing, having some trauma around that. Very methodical about it though: checks for pain, ensures proper cleaning, then proceeds to make a traditional Nibelheim tooth-jewelry piece while trying not to think too hard about wearing teeth as accessories and why his mom made him do that as a child. Has to explain to concerned teachers why his kid is wearing "organic materials" as jewelry.
Angeal: Becomes absolutely ecstatic about playing tooth fairy, something he never experienced as a kid due to tight finances back home. Goes completely overboard: creates tiny fairy footprints with glitter, leaves elaborate notes in microscopic handwriting, sprinkles "fairy dust" (glitter) everywhere, leaves gil under the pillow with candy, and even rigs up tiny bells that jingle in the night. *He did this to Zack when he lost a tooth during training too.
Genesis: Treats the entire tooth-losing process as an epic saga worthy of poetry and pageantry. Creates a dramatic ceremony involving fairytale book reading, mood lighting, and a custom-made tooth preservation box with engraved verses. Insists on writing a ballad about the "heroic departure of the infant tooth" and performs it at inappropriate moments to annoy his child.

“Will it hurt?” the dental patient waiting beside you asks.
“No,” you assure with a kind smile. “You’ll feel a little pinch, maybe, and then all of the pain will go away.”
He nods, grips the sides of the chair, and closes his eyes as you slide the mouth mirror behind his top molars.
“Hey, doc,” one of the receptionists calls. “We need you at the front when you’re done here.”
“Got it,” you reply quickly, keeping your eyes and mind on your patient. “There we go,” you murmur when you find the cause of the sudden tooth decay. “Here comes the pinch.”
Using the cotton pliers from the dental hygiene set, you extract a small object lodged between teeth fourteen and fifteen, or as you explain to the patient a piece of food that wasn’t removed by flossing or brushing and embedded itself between the back molars.
“How’s it feeling?” you ask once the tools are removed from his mouth.
“Much better,” he answers. “Thank you.”
“Of course. Wendy, your hygienist, will be right back to finish cleaning, then we’ll apply a dental sealant to ensure there’s no further decay or wear on your enamel back there.”
As you stand and discard your gloves, you wave Wendy over to finish the cleaning process. She politely reminds you that you’re needed at the front. However, her knowing look is enough reprimand that you promise to pay more attention without neglecting your patients.
The walk to the reception area is short, but before you reach the end of the hall, you hear a familiar voice.
“Officer Luca,” you greet with a smile. “Are you bothering my receptionist again?”
“No, sweetheart,” Lucille, the receptionist who has told you more than once she thinks Luca is the sweetest little gentleman she’s ever seen, assures. “But you’ve left poor Luca here waiting.”
Luca smiles as he extends his left arm to hug you. “I’ll forgive you,” he whispers against your temple.
“How kind of you,” you tease. “What are you doing here?”
“You said you wanted to leave early today.”
“And she can!” Lucille interrupts. “Her last patient is nearly done.”
“But I…” you begin, though you trail off when Luca looks into your eyes. “Yeah, okay.”
“There, uh, there was one other thing I wanted to ask,” Luca adds. He shifts on his feet, a movement that anyone else would have missed.
“Are you okay?”
Luca smiles and nods but gestures toward Lucille. You smile, take his hand, and lead him to your small office at the back of the building. Once you’re alone, you turn and give Luca a proper hug before you lean back against your desk and encourage him to tell you what’s bothering him.
“We’ve been dating for a while,” Luca says.
You nod and refrain from commenting about being there because you want to know where he’s going. The hug he gave you a moment ago makes you confident he isn’t ending the relationship.
“I want to introduce you to my team. If you’re okay with that.”
You lick your lips and push yourself to stand before him as you ask, “Are you sure?”
“Absolutely. Besides, you might as well meet them before the wedding.”
Luca shrugs as you laugh. When you talked several weeks ago about how serious you were getting, you didn’t anticipate he’d start talking about marriage so quickly. However, you both know that’s what you want, so it doesn’t scare you.
“I would love to meet your team. Especially Street, since I’ve heard so much about him.”
“Sorry,” Luca responds, though his smile doesn’t drop.
“No, no, I support your bromance.”
Luca rolls his eyes as he pulls you against his chest. You lay your hands on his shoulders and look into his eyes as you smile.
“Are you ready?” he asks.
“Right now?” you reply. “I thought you meant-“
“Whenever you want,” Luca amends. “I just mean ready to go.”
“We can go now. If you want.”
“There’s one thing I have to do first.”
Before you can ask what that is, Luca tilts his chin and kisses you.
“Should I be nervous?” you ask as Luca helps you out of his truck.
“No,” he answers quickly. “Are you?”
“Not really.”
Luca laughs at you, and the sound makes you smile. You tighten your grip on his hand, then follow him into SWAT HQ. Several men are working out, officers are walking through, and people are waiting for various meetings. Most greet Luca, but he continues to lead you through the large common area.
He brushes his thumb over the back of your hand as he pushes a door open. Inside, there’s a large kitchen and sitting area, and five people. They look up when the door opens, greet Luca, then look away again. The woman is the first to realize she needs a second look, and a smile breaks out on her face as she jumps over the back of the couch and rushes toward you.
“Luca!” she yells.
That draws the attention of the men, and when Luca grunts from her well-aimed punch to his shoulder, they follow her lead and join you and Luca.
“Guys, this is my girlfriend,” he begins before introducing you to each member of 20 David Squad.
“It’s nice to meet you,” you say after shaking their hands. “I’ve heard a lot about you.”
“Good things?” Street asks.
“Not about you,” Tan interjects.
“Mostly good things,” you agree.
“So, how long have you two been together?” Deacon asks.
“Almost six months,” you answer.
“What took you so long, man?” Hondo asks Luca. “I thought you were with Deac on the whole ‘when you know, you know’ thing.”
“I am,” Luca replies. “And I’ve known for months, I was just waiting for the right time.”
“What made now the right time?” Chris adds.
“I’ve been wondering the same thing,” you say.
“Duke,” Luca answers.
You nod in understanding as the team waits for further explanation.
“Duke likes me more than him,” you explain, ignoring Luca’s grunt of disagreement. “Somehow, he managed to get in my car and go home with me without either of us noticing. When I brought him back the next day, he didn’t want to let me leave.”
“Sounds like someone trained him well,” Tan says.
“Yeah, how long did that trick take, Luca?” Street inquires. “And were the treats homemade or store-bought?”
“Look,” Luca interrupts, drawing attention back to him rather than Duke. “Now was the right time because things are getting serious, but I don’t feel like I left you out of anything.”
“Romantic,” Hondo mumbles.
“Gross,” Street adds, nodding.
“We’re not mad about the wait,” Deacon assures you and Luca. “And you’re right, we didn’t miss anything. Except maybe the story about Duke, that would’ve been nice to hear right after it happened.”
“If anything, I was robbed,” you point out. “I’ve been hearing stories about you guys without any reference or anything.”
“Apologize,” Chris demands.
“Sorry,” Luca says, though it sounds more like a question.
“We should do something,” Street proposes. “Like go out to dinner or something. Let you ask all the embarrassing questions about Luca you can think of.”
“Or…” you counter. “We could make Luca cook for us all.”
“Okay,” Luca interjects. “Either work, but I am standing right here.”
“There you are!”
You stiffen when you hear someone else enter the kitchen. Luca and his team look toward the door to greet Hicks, but you keep your eyes on Luca.
“This is our commander, Bob Hicks,” Luca tells you. “Hicks, this is-“
You turn toward Hicks but don’t raise your eyes to meet his. He says your name before Luca can, and your shoulders draw up toward your ears.
“You’ve met?” Hondo deduces.
“Yeah,” Hicks answers carefully. “It’s nice to see you.”
“You, too.” You look at Luca and mumble, “I need to go.”
Luca’s brows pinch, but he nods and watches you step past him and walk a wide path around Hicks. He looks at Hicks for several seconds, then rushes out of the kitchen to follow you. 20 David Squad watches your sudden departure, then looks to one another for answers, which none of them have.
Hicks steps toward the door you just exited, but Deacon raises his hand over Hicks’ chest and says, “I think you’ve done enough for now.”
“Anything you want to share, Commander?” Chris asks.
Hicks sighs before he turns toward the five SWAT officers now staring him down.
After you exit the building, you step to the side and take a few deep breaths. Things were going so well before Bob Hicks walked in, and now Luca’s team will probably never want to see you again. As if he needed to ruin one more thing in your life.
“Hey,” Luca says softly. “Can I touch you?”
You nod eagerly, raising your arms slightly so you can hug Luca. His hugs feel like home, his arms strong around your waist and his head by your shoulder, in the perfect position to whisper calming and loving words in your ear.
“I’m sorry,” you whisper against him.
“Don’t apologize,” he replies, rubbing one hand along your upper back. “It’s okay. Just keep breathing.”
With Luca, you don’t usually realize when you’re getting anxious, but Hicks has a unique effect on you.
“Luca,” you begin. When he nods and pulls back without removing his arms from around you, you admit, “Robert Hicks is my dad.”
“You said you were raised by a single mom,” Luca remembers.
“I was. My mom married… him, they had me, all that. But when I was little, so little I barely remember what he was like before, he divorced my mom. After it was finalized, he cut us off completely. We never heard from him again.”
“That must’ve been hard.”
You nod and wet your lips. “I knew I was losing my parents as a couple, but I didn’t expect to lose my dad completely.”
Luca hugs you again, and as your breathing and heart rate return to normal, you take a deep breath.
“I know I’m overreacting,” you say with a sad chuckle. “Sorry, Luca.”
“You’re not,” Luca promises. His hand raises to your shoulder as he brushes his fingers along the back of your neck. “What can I do for you?”
“You’re perfect,” you whisper. “Thank you.”
Luca smiles before he kisses your forehead. His shift is nearly over, and he decides about what he’d do if he had to choose between Hicks and his job or you.
“Let me tell them that I’m heading out early and I’ll take you home. Maybe Duke can comfort you a little more,” he suggests.
“I’d like that. Can I… can I come in with you?”
“If you’re sure. No one in there is going to be mad at you for this.”
You nod and take Luca’s hand to follow him inside. His team is waiting just inside, and your father is nowhere to be seen.
“I’m sorry for rushing out like that,” you tell them.
“No worries,” Hondo assures.
“I’d run like that if I thought I could get away with it,” Street says.
“You heading out?” Chris asks Luca.
“We are,” Luca answers. “But dinner is still on the table. Not literally, but…”
“We’ll do it soon,” Deacon replies. “And you,” he tells you, “are welcome here whenever you want. You are part of this family now, and if anyone has an issue with that, they can leave.”
“Thank you,” you say softly. “All of you.”
Hondo nods at Luca as you leave, and though you don’t understand that it’s about your dad and how he’s grown as a person, you trust your boyfriend and new family. Plus, when you get home and are sandwiched between the loving cuddles of Luca and Duke, there isn’t much to be anxious about.

I made a calling card for Dante using words cut out of this pizza article.

See below the cut for more details on my process (and my suffering).
I challenged myself to only create new words by re-arranging the letters of one word. The only exception were the twins' names. These were the new words I made:
This project started out as 'what if I write poetry about Dante using a pizza article lol' and I didn't once lol or lmao making it. I suffered. I went through the damn article with a fine toothed comb and extracted the ever living poetic words out of it. And I wrote two poems. But I didn't like them, they weren't working for me. The whole process felt like trying to build a sand castle with ten grains of sand. In a thunderstorm.
Virgil -> vergil
Person -> son Reeking -> king Spreading-> sparda Motorcycles-> tore Summoned-> demon Associated-> ass Countryside -> you, your Nauseating-> seat Mention-> men, me Akin-> kin Delivery-> live Freshly-> flesh World-> lord Trend -> end Foreign-> reign Beneath -> be
Cuisine -> sin
I spent so long on this even google was like 'dude are u ok'.

sigh Yes, google. I know I visit often.
Making a calling card, in the end, felt right. Even if it killed me a little that I had so many great words that I never got to use.

Diagnosis is...
Jason Todd x Reader
This one is kind of weird i just thought it would be funny and it spiraled from there. You meet your boyfriends family at a very bad time. TW: vomiting, Pregnancy
Jason always took you to the Manor when his family wasn't home. The only member who you were well acquainted with was Alfred and Duke. Even after being together for a year and moving with eachother he wasn't ready for you to meet his family. Truthfully he was worried they would be... too much.
Jason sat you down gently on his bed in his old bedroom.
"You really didn't need to carry me here from the cave I'm not that sick" you sighed as he tucked you into the bed.
"Sure but I wanted to." He went to kiss your lips but you pulled back
"Trust me lover boy you do not want to kiss these lips"
He chuckled and kissed you on the cheek instead "I'll be back at five ok?"
You nodded waiting for him to leave before running to his bathroom and vomiting.
After 10 minutes you went looking around. He only ever took you to the manor when no one else was around but Alfred. But this time even he wasn't here. Bruce was on some big undercover mission in another country basically the enormous amounts of people who were usually here weren't except for Jason and Duke who were taking over the nightly patrol in Gotham. This was perfect for your mission.
You searched every bathroom and medicine cabinet you could find surely in a house this big which was home to the billionaire playboy had to have at least one. You could swear you'd been looking for hours practically torn apart the entire mansion when you heard a sympathic sounding voice say. "Looking for something?"
You turned around to see a redheaded green eyed woman in a wheelchair. Barbara Gordon.
"Uh uhm Sprite?" Definitely not a great answer if you were trying to deceive a world renowned cyber detective who caught you pulling apart her boyfriends medicine cabinet. But she humored you and took you to the kitchen.
"Why sprite?" She said
"The acid from Lemons are neutralising which help relieve nausea. They give it to people in outpatient after things like wisdom tooth extraction at the hospital. Also I don't like lemonade."
"Right, Jason said you weren't feeling well. What are the symptoms?" She was absolutely probing you for information. She saw the frantically thrown about flu medicine and pain killers, you were looking for something specific.
you weren't planning on spilling everything to a complete stranger but you had to tell someone or you would probably go crazy. "Well nausea, slight headache, swollen feet and breasts, late menstruation cycle I would say patient diagnosis would be-"
"Pregnancy" she interrupted her face completely bewildered. Jason Todd got a girl pregnant.
"About 2 to 3 weeks along but I can't know for sure without-"
"A pregnancy test" she interrupted again.
"I would rather go to the Doctor and get a blood test but Jason and I just moved in together and I only realised I was late yesterday."
"We can do a blood test! Downstairs in the cave right now" Barbara immediately started heading to the elevator to the cave.
"That will take a while you don't have a regular pregnancy test here?"
She thought for a second "I don't think so."
So you went down to do the test you were surprised they had every blood test known to man "you know an at home pregnancy test only takes two minutes" you say as you draw your own blood you needed to practice anyway.
"Well we could watch a movie? It's only two hours."
"Yeah only" you sighed and Barbara finished the rest of the process now all you had to do was wait for the results. Your heart almost stopped when you heard the roar of a motorcycle enter the cave thinking it might be Jason.
"It's just the Batgirls their mission ended early." Barbara said pulling up the live security footage of the runway and leaving it up. You almost collapsed from relief.
"Hey Babs! Who's this?" The purple Batgirl said as she took off her Cowl revealing her blonde hair and chipper smile.
"I uhm I'm Y/n"
"Oh Jason's girlfriend! You're sick right?" She glanced over at the screen the blood test now almost halfway done. "What's a HCG test?"
Barbara minimised the window and looked at you as you tried to formulate a lie but it was too late. The other batgirl who must be Cassandra signed something to Stephanie.
"No way!" Her face was in utter disbelief and god you wished Jason had just left you in the apartment. This was not how you wanted to meet his family.
"It's probably nothing it could be anything really." You really wanted to believe that. You wanted to believe it was something crazy rare.
"Like what?" Stephanie said with full curiosity. She definitely didn't seem to realise the invasive nature of that question until Cassandra put a hand on her shoulder. "Right well good luck with that Cass and I are gonna train for a bit."
"Don't worry you can trust them" Barbara's words gave little comfort. Your face was red with embarrassment its not that you didn't trust them it's that you just met them. Their first impression of their brothers girlfriend is that she could be pregnant.
It wasn't long before you heard people talking from the staircase "TIMOTHY BERNIE!"Stephanie yelled "What are you doing here?!"
"Well I was showing Bernard the mansion and i thought id take him to see the cave too i need to check up on a blood test of a rat i found scarecrow experimenting on too. Hey! Are you Y/n?" Tim asked shaking your hand.
You were relieved at the fact that he would be the first family member to not also be wondering whether or not you were pregnant. "It's nice to meet you. Jason talks about you a lot."
"He talks about all of you too I think he's been a bit nervous for us to meet."
"So was Tim. I'm Bernard, Tim's boyfriend" you had been so relieved and distracted by normal conversation without any indication of any possible pregnancy that you didn't see Tim looking at the computers in the med bay.
"Uh who ordered the HCG? Was it an accident or...?"
"HCG? I meant to do a CRP! damn well now I'll know if I'm pregnant or not." At least Stephanie was good at improv
"But this says its y/n's?" Tim said skeptical of the whole situation
"What?! I must of mixed up our blood" ok so she might not win an Oscar but you could work with this.
"Oh yeah I was practicing drawing blood sometimes they have us do it on other med students and if you don't practice uh it's embarrassing." You were definitely not winning an Oscar.
"Right." He was definitely unconvinced. But his angel of a boyfriend noticed your nervous face and came to your rescue.
"Happens to the best of us." He has a very warm and comforting smile Tim has good taste in men.
As time went on your stomach started to churn and you laid back on a medical bed. There was the loud hum of a jet engine and huge doors opening up above you. "Uhh please not Bruce Wayne"
"Bruce Wayne" everyone except Bernard seemed to say in unison "and the results are in."
"I don't want to know" you didnt want this to be such a big deal you didn't want so many people to know and you certainly didn't want Jason's whole family to know before he did.
"Ah miss Y/n I see you've met more of the family" Alfred said walking down from where ever the Jet was parked above you.
"It's been a pleasure" you say truly not wanting to sound rude they had all been very kind to you their timing is just so so poor.
"Ah Jason had told me you're not feeling well. Can I bring you anything Y/n"
"Y/n?" I voice that must belong to Bruce followed behind Alfred. "Oh I didn't know you would be here" Bruce Wayne said cowl in hand his face looking tired. A young looking boy walked towards the bat computer ignoring you. honestly you were grateful for not having to meet another batfamily member.
You were trying to get up but he interrupted "no no please don't get up on my behalf rest its quite late."
You were going to respond but your stomach stirred again and a gurgle went up your throat. Bruce was quick to respond and got you a vomit bag. Great the first thing Bruce Wayne had ever heard from you was the disgusting sound of vomit. "You are quite sick" He put his hand on your forehead automatically. But there was no time to make up an excuse or reason.
"She's not sick, she's pregnant" the young and very rude boy said... definitely Damian.
"Oh uhm is uh.. when did you find out?" Bruce was extremely flustered, but by now you had experienced enough embarrassment for the night and just wanted Jason to come home.
"Just then" with the perfect timing that this family seemed to have you heard Jason and Duke ride into the cave to see an utterly confused Batman standing next to you.
"None of you are supposed to be here." Jason growled as he made his way to you he was about to glare at Bruce when he saw his bright red face he stopped "What's wrong with you?Salina break up with you again?" Jason
"Uhm" Bruce cleared his throat "you're right we're not supposed to be here. We should all go upstairs." He started heading to the stairs but everyone else seemed to be looking at you "now!" He said sternly in his Batman voice the room quickly cleared out after that.
You sighed a breath of relief as Jason sat next to you and pulled you close kissing your temple. "What was his problem?" He asked rubbing your arm and resting his head on your shoulder.
"Well I'm not technically sick."
"Hmm?" He didn't even seemed phased by this he just leaned into you more
"I had to do a test and uh everyone saw the result."
"Is it bad?" This man after a patrol you could swear his head was made of bricks.
"Depends. Do you think its bad that I'm pregnant." You said hesitantly a very small part of you worried that he would say yes but worse is he didn't say anything. "Jason?"
"Uh no!" He moved to face you his forehead pressed against yours "No it's its not bad its just its unexpected and then I'm sorry I'm sorry for all of that and them and wow"
You giggled "Yeah it's not exactly what I was expecting for tonight"
He cupped your cheek and smiled at you "I love you Y/N"
Tears started to well in your eyes "I love you too Jason" He pulled you in for a long kiss. Finally all you wanted all night was to be with him.
Upstairs Dick arrived home to...chaos. Stephanie was talking to Cass about everything they were going to do to prepare for.. something. Tim was yelling at Damian, Barbara and Bernard were telling Duke about the entire night and Bruce sat in an armchair still in complete embarrassment and disbelief.
"Did I miss something?"

🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?
My favorite is from His Goofy Girl, a Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw x F!Reader fic.
The context is that the reader has a reaction to the anesthesia used for her wisdom tooth extraction.
"Hey, baby," Rooster says softly.
You turn towards the sound of his voice but stare at him blankly. Then your eyes narrow suspiciously before finally shooting open in recognition.
"Rooster!" You exclaim excitedly.
With the gauze in your mouth, his name comes out sounding more like Roofer than anything else. It makes him grins.
"Hey, come here," you lisp, crooking a finger at him. There's an unusually serious look in your eye as you stare him down. You wait to speak until he's bent down to your level. "You're high so you have to tell me the truth. Do you love me?"
Rooster has to fight the urge to laugh, glancing up at the nurse to share an amused look. “Absolutely, I love you the most,” he tells you solemnly.
You sigh and smile happily, turning to look at the nurse beside you. "This is my boyfriend, Roofer," you tell her.
"That's very nice dear," she says, patting your shoulder. "Now, let's get you to the car and on the way home. I'm sure your couch will be much more comfortable than this chair."
“Couch,” you whisper to yourself happily and this time Rooster does laugh.
You hum or try to at least, grinning up at him with a dopey look when he helps you stand. He loops your arm over his shoulder and the nurse walks on your other side, keeping you steady. You lean heavily against him, rubbing your forehead against his chest like a cat. Even though you’re walking you seem to doze off against his chest, waking up again when they try to get you in the front seat of his car.
"Roofer has a really big rock," you announce to the nurse with absolutely zero context or prompting.
A little part of Rooster dies inside as he closes his eyes, processing what the elderly nurse most certainly heard you say.
"Yes, I love rocks, I have a whole collection of them," Rooster replies after a tremendously awkward pause.
"That's lovely , everyone should collect something," the nurse says, giving him the tiniest sliver of his dignity back.

Imagine if there was a couple comprised of Person A, who loves eating food that bloats them up like a balloon, and Person B, a person with a huge gas fetish. Since Person A’s worst gas-producing foods are also their favorite things to eat, they normally fart enough to put a cow to shame, and Person B worships it all.
Then one day, Person A needs to get at least one wisdom tooth taken out. Part of the recovery process is hugely limiting your diet. They eat liquids and mush for the first couple days, and then nothing that requires more than very minimal chewing for the rest of the week. Not to mention that their dentist recommended similar restrictions for an additional week afterwards, just so that there’s as little risk of messing with the extraction site as possible.
Of course, this means that Person A’s trigger foods are largely absent from their meals during this time. They’re sipping on soups and broth for most dinners, and they don’t get heavily affected by stuff like scrambled eggs, mushed bananas, or applesauce. Maybe they get a few small farts from dairy products like yogurt, but it’s just not enough fuel to match their usual gas output. Person A is annoyed to have their diet be so limited, but they’re honestly more concerned with not getting dry socket, so they manage during this time surprisingly well.
They definitely manage things better than Person B, who misses their partner’s gassy ass so much that they practically go through fart withdrawal.

i'm back from the dentist
the dentist's name was patrick
he was very nice
CW: BLOODY EXTRACTED TEETH AHEAD!!!! SERIOUSLY DON'T CLICK THE JUMP IF YOU DON'T WANNA SEE MY GROSS MOUTH BONES. I MADE THE CW TEXT AS BIG AS POSSIBLE SO THAT HOPEFULLY IT DOESN'T RUIN ANYONE'S DAY LMAO
and so begins the pudding diet
wanna know the crazy thing ??
the wisdom tooth is the two little broken pieces. that was legit all that was left of it. i did not feel a single moment of its removal, it took like 10 seconds.
the REAL challenge wound up being that huge bloody bastard up top. it was the neighboring molar that my wisdom teeth decided to take down with them, a chunk of it broke off the surface about three weeks ago, initially it seemed fine (just had a sharp edge) but then it inevitably started to keep me up at night with severe pain within the last week. i recently spent a couple days with what was basically lockjaw and i can only assume that this sucker was to blame.
the extraction for that one really sucked, because it took what felt like an agonizing 5 minutes (even though it was only more like 30 seconds) and in that time, i could feel it popping and cracking from out of my jaw 💀😭 wasn't necessarily "painful" but anyone with sensory and auditory processing disorders can hopefully understand that it's still a unique kind of pain that freezing and gas and numbing can't combat.
it sucked, but i survived. i'm on antibiotics for the next week and now my biggest challenge is just getting through the recovery process as swiftly as possible ╭( ・ㅂ・)و
(and yes, if it wasn't evident enough in the photo, they let me keep the teeth! yayayay!)
big thanks to everyone who sent me so many encouraging messages and personal stories of their own experiences, y'all helped a mountain feel more like a mole hill ♡( ◡‿◡ )
