The Harvest or Ceres and Triptolemus
Artist: Louis-Jean-François Lagrenée (French, 1725–1805)
Date: 1769
Medium: Oil on canvas
Collection: Louvre Museum, Paris, France
Description
Few French painters of the eighteenth century were more indecisive than Lagrenée, who was capable of shifting from the flowery allegory of Harvest (1769) to the gray classicism of The Visitation (1781). The prolific Lagrenée listened to everyone, and was alternatively treated by Diderot with harshness for his lack of ideas and extolled for the "charm" of his Mercury, Herse and Aglauros. This made Lagrenée a particularly indulgent director of the French Academy in Rome from 1781 to 1787.

Having Trigun thoughts again and I'm wondering about the twins abilities...
(this is about Trimax but feel free to read it as a theory for Stampede/Stargaze as well)
We know Vash always refused to use his plant powers to heal his injuries and to hurt others, just as Knives always used his powers to have a pristine body and to kill as many people as possible
But at the end of Trimax, Knives, for likely the first time in his whole life, uses his powers to create life from scratch, just like many other dependent plants can do, especially the geo/fertility plants
So my question is: Vash, who always loved and respected and protected human life, never helped humans in making the desert a better place to live in. He never created trees or green (please do tell me if I'm wrong but I can't remember any scene from the manga suggesting he did); why? Vash despised his nature, but I think using it to help humans would have been good for him
What I think is that (speaking of singular abilities, or if the twins were born as regular plants) Knives was likely a geo/fertility plant, while Vash would come closer to plants that produce raw energy (Knives did say in the manga that Vash's "gate" - whatever it is - is stronger than his own, and combining it with Stampede we can think it's something about the ability of producing the energy of a black hole)
It's kinda poetic: Knives, who could create life, chose to destroy it, while Vash, who could kill humans maybe even more easily than Knives, chose to protect life
#how can i call this...#knives is a fertility plant#yeah. that boy was fertile!!!!!!!! :D#trigun maximum#trimax#vash the stampede#millions knives#plants#knives becoming a tree will haunt me for ages i fear...it was so devastating yet beautiful

Jacking Off to Jumpstart the Crops
“In some parts of Amboyna [Ambon Island, Indonesia, c. 1875], when the state of the clove plantation indicates that the crop is likely to be scanty, the men go naked to the plantations by night, and there seek to fertilise the trees precisely as they would impregnate women, while at the same time they call out for ‘More cloves!’ This is supposed to make the trees bear fruit more abundantly.”
—J. G. Frazer, The Magic Art & the Evolution of Kings, part 2 (The Golden Bough, vol. II, 1911, p. 100).

u grow some fruits n veggies on your porch in planters right? do you have any resources for how to get started? i wanna start growing some small stuff next year but i have no clue where to begin haha
YES i love container gardening and me and my mom have been trying to grow random produce every year since i was like 10 LOL! mostly thru trial and error tho so im definitely an amateur.... lol weve failed a lot. there is soooo much information online so its really easy to get overwhelmed, reddit is my favorite resource because you can get very specific information on the varieties of plants youre growing
my main advice is to look up what Plant Hardiness Zone you live in (USDA zones in the US) to see what produce will grow best in your area, and what time to start sowing seeds. i live somewhere where it never drops below freezing so i dont have to factor this in, but its important to know when the last frost of the season will be in your area. if you live in an area with a long winter, growing in containers is great because you can start growing them inside even while its cold outside!
every kind of produce has like a million varieties, choosing the right one is important! some produce varieties will never thrive in containers; you need to find varieties that will fit the space you have (bush/compact varieties for pots and climbing/vine varieties if you have a trellis). also yeah using vertical spaces like a trellis on a wall is a bigggg space saver and you can get a lot more produce out of a small area.
also i only really plant produce that has a high yield because its really rewarding and it keeps me motivated! strawberries, tomatos, beans, peas, blueberries, and peppers all grow well in my area and a single plant can make a ton if you take care of it. i hope this was helpful to u and good luck with your future harvest!!!
#as for sun/water/fertilizer needs you need to check for every plant because they all have different specific needs#and also it even varies from individual to individual plant in my experience...... like one might want partial shade and the next wants sun#reddit is good for struggling plants bc theyll tell you whats wrong immediately. even if you dont ask#they diagnosed my lime tree with nitrogen deficiency but i just posted it bc it was mutated.#not because i needed help i just wanted to show off my tree

Asherah, the original mother goddess of the early Semitic mythos. She was the wife of the supreme god El. Asherah birthed the Canaanite pantheon, from Baal and Astarte to Yam and Mot, all of them were born from her union with El. Asherah’s origins are unknown, however it’s believed that she was the feminine aspect of El. In one of the few surviving myths, Asherah is shown as Yam’s biggest supporter for the throne of the chief god. Her epithet of ‘Asherah of the sea’ illustrates just how important their relationship was. Despite her support, Yam ultimately loses to Baal for the throne. Asherah in modern abrahamic faiths was reduced to a false idol, with her ‘poles’ being targeted and destroyed.
Asherah is the earliest depiction of the Mother Goddess trope, with her role in Canaan being so influential it affected the religious landscape. The Mother Goddesses became a ubiquitous feature among polytheistic religions, to the point where the absence of one is something to note. Though her name was demonized in modern times, her essence still lives on in her descendants faiths. As Eve from the garden of Eden is proposed to be derived of Asherah. As El was the predecessor of the Abrahamic God, Asherah’s relationship to the omnipotent deity has become a focal point for her. Her legacy may even live on in the feminine aspect of modern god: Shekinah, and the gnostic Aeon: Sophia.

Protect Your Home with Expert Tree Removal Services
youtube
Maintaining the health and safety of your property often begins with addressing the condition of your trees. Trees are a valuable asset, providing beauty, shade, and environmental benefits. However, there are times when they become liabilities, posing risks to your property or even your personal safety. In such cases, professional tree removal becomes essential. For residents of Davidson, NC, Bentancort Tree Service offers expert solutions for safe, efficient, and reliable tree removal.
The Importance of Tree Removal Tree removal is more than a routine landscaping task; it’s a necessary step to ensure safety and maintain the aesthetic and functional integrity of your property. Here are the most common reasons why tree removal may be necessary in Davidson, NC:
Disease and Pest Infestation A tree suffering from disease or infestation can weaken over time, making it hazardous. Worse still, such a tree can spread the problem to nearby healthy trees, creating an even bigger issue for your property and the environment.
Storm Damage Davidson, NC, experiences its fair share of storms and high winds, which can cause trees to lean precariously or lose large branches. Damaged trees pose a significant threat to nearby homes, vehicles, and utility lines.
Dead or Dying Trees A dead or dying tree is often unstable, increasing the likelihood of a sudden fall. Removing such trees promptly can save you from costly damage and prevent potential injuries.
Overcrowding Sometimes trees are planted too close to one another, leading to competition for sunlight and nutrients. Removing some trees allows the remaining ones to thrive, improving the overall health of your landscape.
Aesthetic Improvements Tree removal isn’t always about safety; sometimes, it’s about creating space for other landscaping features or simply enhancing the visual appeal of your property.
In all these scenarios, working with a professional tree removal service is key to ensuring the process is safe, efficient, and effective.

i started brewing my own cold brew at home to save money and it has, in general, been a good thing, except now i have a debilitating cold brew addiction, go thru an obscene amount of mason jars that i refuse to wash as i use them, thus leading me to washing ten or more at a time, and worst of all, every few days i have to actually make the cold brew. one of life's many trials.

dragon io is, as I've mentioned, just... stupidly, ridiculously territorial and their valley certainly falls under that in its entirety. there have been many, many settlements over the centuries, and each have succumbed to various fates (usually dragon-related). currently, there's two villages that io currently allows to inhabit their valley, but they are always, always watching them with a critical eye. the moment they get too into the idea of growth is when io will rid the valley of both and call it a day. they do the work to make sure both villages properly understand the relationship: so long as they are quiet, make no moves against the dragon living above them, and don't start tearing up the valley for crops or homes, then their local watchful super-predator will (mostly) leave them alone. every movement into and out of the valley is tracked, and the presence of groups of armed people is something that they will not stand - said groups get chased out or straight-up attacked depending on the mood for the day. the presence of other dragons always results in the latter of those two options. the villages are... sometimes liable to get caught in the crossfire, though. an attack on io is nothing short of encouragement to make themself known as dangerous and pissed, and they will burn great swathes of their valley and the villages, too, just to make that point. mostly, though, io really isn't inclined to mess with them much and the two (three) live in relatively tense peace. there's also the fact of the matter that io is lonely, and can pass through both villages in their most human of forms as disguise and fulfill social requirements (be an asshole, buy some fruit, etc.)
#⌜❝ 𝙸𝙸. i’m the world ender & i’m back from the grave. ⟩⟩#𝚂𝙴𝚁𝙿𝙴𝙽𝚂 𝙰𝙱𝙾𝚄𝚃. this little beast was nature’s own error. grew like a tree; born to spread terror. ❞ ⌟#why do people keep coming back u ask#bc io is very old and people are very good at forgetting#or writing it all off as local myth. especially if it's quiet for (x) amount of years#and a valley is always a very good spot to build. farm. etc.#mmm yeah giant white wyrm in the hills. venomous too. uh huh uh huh whatever look how fertile this floodplain is#and why do the villages stay u ask#well. no one is going to come attack u cause the dragon took care of that#and the giant dragon really does mostly leave you alone#and when they aren't happy about something they at least give a warning#hey farmer jim tried to till up new land for a field and it got absolutely destroyed overnight so#i guess we won't do that#i feel that#at this point#both villages have other less destructive/intrusive ways to grow and harvest food#and they're not that big. anyway#trembling and shaking with the effort to not put my 110% into this and think about every little detail

Probably one of the biggest things that influences the ecologies, agriculture, and economics on Aran is the fact that there are giant fucking dragons that eat rock, ore, and crystals living under the surface of the planet that surface to either supplement their diet with vegetation and meat or to poop.
The poop mounds and latrines of these giant wyrms are full of so many minerals and good organic soil as well as lumps of metals and gems.
The richest centaur herds tend to have a wyrm latrine someone on their territory that they mine for fertilizer, gems, and metals. And they tend to keep wyrms frequenting their territory by leaving offerings of milk and cheese at wyrm holes.
