The mishna taught: As on them the daughters of Jerusalem would go out in white clothes, and on the fifteenth of Av they would go out to the vineyards and dance. The Sages taught this tradition in greater detail: The daughter of the king borrows white garments from the daughter of the High Priest; the daughter of the High Priest borrows from the daughter of the deputy High Priest; the daughter of the deputy High Priest borrows from the daughter of the priest anointed for war, i.e., the priest who would read verses of Torah and address the army as they prepared for battle; the daughter of the priest anointed for war borrows from the daughter of a common priest; and all the Jewish people borrow from each other. Why would they all borrow garments? They did this so as not to embarrass one who did not have her own white garments.

🌹❤️ This Sunday, we're celebrating the Jewish day of love, /too be-'av/ ט"ו באב.
In preparation, I wanted to serve you some perfect matches, not just in love but in language too.
Just like pancakes and syrup, popcorn and a drink, or pie and apples, some things are simply meant to be together.
In the spirit of togetherness, let's talk about another delightful pairing: learning Hebrew and discovering words that feel like old friends.
Did you know that many Hebrew words are borrowed or adopted from English and other languages?
These are words you already know and love, seamlessly integrated into the everyday Hebrew spoken in Israel.
Whether there's no direct Hebrew translation or the original word is just more commonly used, this linguistic blend creates a bridge between cultures, making the journey of learning Hebrew unexpectedly easy and motivating.
As you explore my day of love perfect matches, notice how these perfect duos not only represent the universal language of love but also exemplify the ease with which you can expand your Hebrew vocabulary with words already close to your heart.
So, as we celebrate love in all its forms, let's also embrace the joy of discovering that learning a new language doesn't have to start from scratch.
Sometimes, it's about recognizing the connections we already have and building on them.
After all, isn't that what finding your perfect match is all about?

Beneath the ancient stones of the #WesternWall, or #Kotel, a newly wedded couple bows their heads, their silent prayers weaving with the echoes of a thousand generations. Today is not just a day of union for them. It's the start of a journey together, one that begins on the mysterious yet intriguing festival of Tu B'Av.
Tu B'Av, the 15th of Av, is a uniquely special day on the Jewish calendar. A search of the Shulchan Aruch, the Code of Jewish Law, might not reveal much. There are no prescribed observances or customs, aside from the omission of the tachanun (confession of sins) and an instruction to increase one's study of Torah. Yet, this seemingly ordinary day holds a magic that's been recognized for ages.
On this day, the Talmud tells us, the "daughters of Jerusalem would go dance in the vineyards," a celebration of love and life that transforms the mundane into the extraordinary. Young men who did not yet have a wife would attend, not just to watch, but to find a companion to share their life's journey with. Yes, on this day, love is not just celebrated, but sought, chased, and hopefully, found.
The Talmud declares Tu B'Av as the greatest festival of the year, surpassing even Yom Kippur! It's a mystery, much like the full moon that marks this day in the month of Av - a symbol of future redemption, an essence that remains elusive to our yet unredeemed selves. The unknowable may be mystifying, but isn't that the allure of love too? Isn't it the thrill of the chase, the anticipation of the mystery unfolding that makes love all the more precious?
So, whether you are newly wedded like our couple at the Western Wall or still searching for your special someone, take this Tu B'Av to heart. The stars are aligning, the vineyards are waiting, and love is in the air. It's your time now - time to embrace the mystery, to seek the unknowable. Love may be a puzzle, but every piece found, every step taken brings you closer to completing the beautiful picture.

Tonight is Tu B'Av, the full moon of the Hebrew month of Av, which the Talmud calls one of the two most joyful days of the year. It's known as an auspicious time for weddings and #shidduchim, so this #TubAv may you all be blessed to find your true love.

Today, @gllcw and I were supposed to get married. He is still at sea, so we can't even spend this day together. George proposed to me on this day last year, which was also Tu B'Av (the Jewish day of love). For this year's Tu B'Av, I baked a heart-shaped challah with six strands, one for every year George and I have been together. I want to bring your attention to something: seafarers are key workers. They are delivering the resources that go on to power our homes, transporting the products we need from place to place, and ensuring safety at sea. Due to the pandemic, there aren't as many officers and engineers available to replace those who have been at sea since before lockdown. Flight restrictions, and some company quarantining policies clashing with what some work visas will allow in terms of arrival time, have also made it difficult to relieve those who need to come home. Please spare a thought for our seafarers today. . . . #wouldhavebeenourweddingday #lifeinthetimeofcorona #pandemic #unprecedentedtimes #seafarers #sailorfiance #seafarersarekeyworkers #bread #challah #tubav #wedding #engagement #anniversary https://www.instagram.com/p/CD5071yp6YX/?igshid=mors2yvdrt6n

Today is Tu B’av, which is a little known, minor Jewish holiday that is actually such a lovely one — it’s a day for love, sort of like Valentine’s Day. Lots of people in Israel get married on Tu B’av. Other people make delicious food for their soul mates. So, thinking about it, I will too. But not the usual sweet, chocolatey treat. Nope! For my sweetie? Fried onion rings. Is that crazy? That’s one of the foods he really loves! Recipe is in the profile and on my website. They are actually not rings btw, they are “strings” which are much much crispier! #onionstrings #onionrings #friedonions #tubav #valentinesday https://www.instagram.com/p/ChKWeXHLIQQ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Tu B’Av is one of the most important days of celebration for Jews. It is regarded as the fifteenth day of Av. It is Jewish holiday holding minor importance than the rest. In the present time, it is commemorated as a holiday for celebrating love.

Ulla said: The fifteenth of Av was the day on which King Hoshea, son of Ela, canceled the guards that Jeroboam, son of Nevat, placed on the roads so that the Jews would not ascend to Jerusalem for the pilgrim Festival. And Hoshea, son of Ela, said
that they may ascend to wherever they wish, i.e., they may go to Jerusalem, Bethel, or Dan.

Happy Tu B'Av, 💙
On this special day of love, I want to send heartfelt wishes to all of you—may your hearts be filled with joy, connection, and warmth.
Tu B'Av is a beautiful reminder of the love we share with our partners, families, and friends, and I hope you can cherish those special connections today.
But today, I also find myself thinking of all those who have been separated from their loved ones, unable to celebrate Tu B'Av - or any other day and moment - together.
My thoughts, heart, and prayers are with you, hoping for reunions, healing, and strength.
Wherever you are, and whoever you’re with today, I send you love, light, and hope for a future where we can all be together with those we cherish.
Wishing you all good things,
Inbal

Judaism is supremely a religion of love: (1) “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul & with all your might.” (2) “You shall love your neighbour as yourself.” (3) “You shall love the stranger, for you were once strangers in a strange land.” #TuBAv https://www.instagram.com/p/B1W8rpinBXbDESQBZCHc-tGOiDQWQnCEbI_8Xs0/?igshid=1osh6buhh6j9t
