Very important thing to note about the upcoming general election in the UK [4th July, register to vote now] that I was discussing with friends earlier today is that the set date feels very deliberately chosen, at least to us. In July, students [and others in that general age range] are between living places - either because they're moving from halls to a more permanent residence, or they're between residences, or they simply don't know where they will be living. Students are at home with family, under more pressure to vote a certain way and less likely to vote at all because of this. Young voices are less likely to be heard because of this. Young people who are voting for the first, second, or third time in their entire lives will find it more difficult to do so. Register to vote. Apply for a postal vote. Be heard.

Lamie’s parents
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lamie shares a bit of her backstory to her friends, and they found out she’s not naturally green-haired. Other than her dad’s reading glasses and mum’s hair tie, the photograph is the only remaining existence/reminder of her parents, everything else was burnt in the house fire.
(These were drawn a WHOLE year ago, crazy that Lamie’s lore is a year old….)

The Wu Family (Margaret, Asher, and their daughter Lamie)
Asher was a pure blood Chinese wizard. He grew up in the UK and attended Hogwarts, Slytherin. After graduation his life turned a dark path, becoming a dark wizard and a follower of some pure blood cult. However, he left his life and ran away be with Margaret in the muggle world permanently.
Margaret was a sickly and weak English muggle when they met. She had no clue of the magical world behind those brick walls. It was confusing why Asher fell in love with the very thing he vowed to destroy, but he did. His heart changed for her, his new vows revolved around her. They got married and had a daughter, Lamie.
Asher worked a simple well paying muggle job, as an accountant in one of UK’s leading banks. He kept up his hobby with astronomy on their balcony, looking at the stars every night and telling Lamie stories about them. Lamie’s favourite story from his was that of ‘The Big Dipper!’, and it was the only consolation she managed to learn from her dad sadly. She wished she learnt them all…
Margaret stayed with Lamie as a housewife, doing her best within the limits of her frail body. Margaret regularly fed the sparrows, the crows, and even the pigeons on the balcony. Lamie questioned her why when others deemed them dirty and pests. All Margaret did was ask Lamie to simply “Just watch them.” And Lamie did. Crows were her favourite, Lamie could look at them for ages with how dark and large they were. Lamie always watched when crows flew past the orphanage she resided.

from wikipedia:
A national identification number, national identity number, or national insurance number or JMBG/EMBG is used by the governments of many countries as a means of tracking their citizens, permanent residents, and temporary residents for the purposes of work, taxation, government benefits, health care, and other governmentally-related functions. The ways in which such a system is implemented vary among countries, but in most cases citizens are issued an identification number upon reaching legal age, or when they are born. Non-citizens may be issued such numbers when they enter the country, or when granted a temporary or permanent residence permit. Many countries issued such numbers for a singular purpose, but over time, they become a de facto national identification number. For example, the United States developed its Social Security number (SSN) system as a means of organizing disbursing of Social Security benefits. However, due to function creep, the number has become used for other purposes to the point where it is almost essential to have one to, among other things, open a bank account, obtain a credit card, or drive a car.
so basically: do you kno the One Government Number that kinda gets used for everything off the top of ur head? Sometimes linked to stuff like social security (hence "social security number" in the U.S.) but they end up just bein used for like, Fuckin Whatever. im just curious how many ppl got that shit memorized
i was gonna be ha ha funnee "put your social security number your credit card number and those three wacky digits in the tags" but no someone would maybe do it. so. dont do that. please. I'm not 100% sure if every country has a system where writing your number on the internet is Bad (in the U.S. thats how u get your identity stolen) but still like. just in case. dont. thx.
but DO tell me if like. your parents or whoever made u memorize it. my mom did for some reason and now i kno it. maybe i dont need to bc i can find it easily but its in my noggin so. And also if u feel like it say how important the numbers are in your country. In the U.S. theyre Important but dont come up super super often, mostly if ur like. opening a bank account. dealing with Government Forms. taxes. insurance. occasionally medical stuff. but also if someone Gets Yours they can kinda destroy your life a bit w identity fraud. sucks a bit.
