alright, small things done... tomorrow i have another appointment so guess i'll see how that goes and if it will interfere with my writing
#telestrata log#my computer is also freaking out now eeks#i have 3 laptops and they all have PROBLEMS#the Old Man i can forgive. he's old and i spilled tea with honey all over the keys#that was years ago. the key presses are still sticky#my “current” laptop is having issues with the USB connection which affects my... everything tbh#but it otherwise still functions just fine#i also spilled shit all over that one. it was coffee. no lasting effects it seems tho#but this new POS laptop oh dear god...#my complaints range from as small as “i don't like where the volume/brightness buttons are”#to as significant as “hey why does this GAMING laptop require me to close out of every other program”#“and open a game 3 times to play GAMES without abhorrent stuttering?”#it's nice for writing on tho so there's that#not what i got it for! but it's something!

The good news is my smart typewriter arrived, the bad news is its battery is deceased
#basically i tried to turn it on right out of the box and it did not respond at all#so i put it on charge and left it for like 10 minutes; at which point it did turn right on when i pressed the power button#i did the quick start stuff and postbox works fine; send to email works fine; all the keys seem to work and it did a firmware update#which fixed the tiny bit of lag the screen had at first#i’m constantly hitting the wrong keys but i do that on any keyboard til i’m used to it. it’s a nice keyboard#the only thing is when i checked how charging was going just now; the battery percentage was still showing 1%. 🧐#it’s been charging for well over an hour and a half#i did a restart and switched to what i think is an optimal charger#(i.e. the usb cable that came with the device + the usb-c wall plug that came with my ipad#not the charging lead for my earbuds + a random wonky samsung plug which is what i was using before)#i’m also going to fully stop bothering it until probably like late in the evening at minimum#i SHOULD be working technically#in my defence i didn’t expect it to arrive so soon. tracking never updated so i thought it was stuck at a random international depot#when actually it made it to heathrow like 2 days ago#look i’m just going to try and count my blessings that everything aside from the battery is working beautifully right now#and if i was a lithium battery left in transit for like 10 days i’d probably die too#worst case scenario i’m just going to have to exclusively use the thing while it’s plugged in. and it has a long cable.. i’ll be fine#personal

I got my first pet in osrs!
Pets are something like a 1 in 20,000 chance and I got him at level 84 thieving \o/
I've seen some people complain about not getting a pet even after reaching 200million exp in a skill so I feel extra lucky getting him at just under 3mil :D
#I found out mouse keys is a thing so I can just tap 5 on my usb number keypad to spam the ardy knight easier#Even with that trick I don't think I could do this for longer than an hour at a time xD#It's boring and way too super click intensive for my liking

got a hand me down macbook from my mom and learning how to use it after being a windows user for like 15+ years has me feeling like a boomer trying to use a computer for the first time
#the way i could not figure out how to scroll down normally so i was stuck using the up/down key to scroll#my friend had to explain it to me and she was so confused about my issue 😆😭#idk if I’m about this trackpad life lol I find it very clunky to use still#I have a wireless mouse that i use for my windows laptop but i have to get a usb converter to be able to use it for the MacBook..#anyways if anyone has some MacBook hacks I’m interested in hearing them#roscoehamiltons.txt

honestly i dont want to buy the cooler master keyboard solely cause i dont want to retire my old crusty ass keyboard thats from like 1992
#also cause i am still salty the first ever mechanical keyboard i had broke within like a year of owning it lmao#like the m key just completely stopped registering and like i didnt even use the m key THAT much#listen i have to be specific about what motherboards i get cause i have to get one with a ps/2 connector LMAO#nowadays a lot of mobo manufacturers are removing that connector which should be a crime#like for the same reason apple was forced to switch usb-c

need to shell out for a new laptop before the end of the year - for a lot of reasons but mainly bc support ending for win8.1 makes fixing the current beast rather pointless :/ (and. admittedly. there is a lot to fix. she's old and she has suffered.)
but my current beastie is from the last gen of laptops with a disc drive and the thought of using an external/usb disc drive is enough to make me cry tears of blood
#really though it is time to upgrade#and i hate to say it because she /runs/ fine it's all hardware issues w parts that can absolutely be replaced#but if i can't use it to run the programs i need then shelling out the money for those parts would ultimately be a waste#but also the fact that this machine that runs fine is no longer worth fixing bc some google-based bullshit just won't support win8.1 anymor#is ALSO a fucking waste & a pile of planned obsolescence bullshit! and i hate it!#but uh. even though she runs fine and she totally does. she does need. uh.#new keyboard (only 1/3 of keys work; currently use usb keyboard)#new trackpad ribbon cable (trackpad does not currently work; using external usb mouse)#new power button and connecting ribbon cable (turning it on involves opening it up and causing an intentional short-circuit every time.)#(a problem largely solved by simply never turning her completely off- except she also needs)#a new battery (current battery does not charge at all; machine needs to be constantly plugged in or it shuts down immediately)#...ok i might be the 'this is fine' dog about this#but i am still upset! that i will no longer have a disc drive inside my damn laptop.#that's the disc drive's natural habitat; that's where it should be; it's weird and offputting to have it connected via usb!#ack. why do tech companies fuck everything up.#and that's without getting into the way new devices offer less harddrive space so people will use the fucking cloud or whatever???#yeah sorry no i'm not using your goddamn data mining corporate off-site storage i want to keep my shit on my own goddamn machine#go to actual hell if you're trying to sell me a pc with less than at least 500GB of storage i swear to fuck#...in essence you could say the whole process is leaving me rather grumpy
