How to Request a DMCA Takedown re: Word-Stream.com
(I, WalkAwayTall, am merely a messenger; this info was copied directly from this post on r/AO3 and posted here with permission from its author, @fuegopi. Use it as you see fit.)
----------
The relevant statute, FYI is 17 U.S.C. § 512 (c)(3)(A), available at https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/17/512
OPTION 1: MAKE A REPORT TO CLOUDFLARE
https://abuse.cloudflare.com/
Step 1: Select “Copyright Infringement & DMCA Violations”
Step 2: Fill Out the Form
(some notes below)
Your Full Name: I understand many fanfic authors prefer anonymity. However, your report/complaint may be taken more seriously if you use both your name and your pseud. For example, I would write, [MY NAME] (“FuegoPI” on AO3).
Holder’s Full Name: Again, that is you, the author.
Contact Information Fields: The DMCA only requires that, you provide “Information reasonably sufficient to permit the service provider to contact the complaining party” — An email address should be sufficient.
Infringing URLS: List the URL of every work you have made that is available on the offending website.
Describe the Original Work: I would list the names of your stories, the word counts, and give AO3 links.
For example: A Fanfic Story (200k Words), originally posted and available at [LINK].
You MUST check the box that says 512(f) acknowledgment, “Good faith belief, Authority to act” and you MUST provide a digital signature or your report will not be accepted.
OPTION 2: MAKE A REPORT TO GODADDY
OPTION 1: Fill out the form at https://supportcenter.godaddy.com/AbuseReport (you may not wish to do this because of the information requested; if so, I recommend sending a letter).
Step 1: Select “Make a Claim”
Step 2: Select Claim Type, “Copyright Infringement”
Step 3: Are you the Copyright Owner or an authorized representative? Select “yes.”
Step 4: Please enter the domain name associated with the website you are complaining about – Fill in “https://word-stream.com/”
Step 5: https://supportcenter.godaddy.com/ipclaims/copyright/infringement If you want to fill this out.
OPTION 2: The form is probably not for everyone, because it requires address information that the DMCA does not strictly require. As a result, I made a template letter for y’all. I recommend attaching to an email.

To preface, I am enrolled in a cybercrime course that deals with defining cybercrimes and things of the like.
And while completing an assignment I fall down the trail of what the definition of CP and CSAM is since the younger gen z's have misconstrued the terms to all hell.
I find this piece hidden in several webpages worth of definitions that are used in laws (regarding CP) that have been in effect since 2003.
Tumblr media
(link: https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/2256 )
And adding onto this, the way that younger people (and generally, antis) go about using these terms is so so SO harmful. It degrades the meaning and severity of CP and CSAM to the point that it might harm children by making them think that those terms are only exclusive to drawings, and not actual CSAM.

Long tangent about the United States, older generations, and conservatives (nothing too controversial)
I find it fascinating how in America, older generations and conservatives complain about people disrespecting the flag despite they themselves violating the code every Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Veteran's Day by wearing tacky t shirts from like Walmart that has an American flag on it or wearing a shirt that's designed to look like the flag. The US flag code states "(d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker’s desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general." (source: “4 U.S. Code § 8 - Respect for Flag.” Legal Information Institute, Legal Information Institute, www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/4/8. Accessed 28 May 2025.). I just remembered the other day on Memorial Day one of the residents at my job (for context, he's a Republican and Trump supporter) had on an American flag shirt reminiscent of Abbie Hoffman, even though, I'm probably wrong about this, Hoffman was very against the Vietnam War and his entire platform was hardcore liberal. I'm not offended by this since why should I care what this 80 something year old wears, however I just find it really odd how these kinds of people jack themselves off about being uber nationalist (there is a difference between patriotism (being prideful in your country) and nationalism (thinking your country is superior to everyone else. I'm going off what I remember from the history classes I had ages ago) and then claim they're being patriotic while violating flag code
