Thursday December 14th
On campus again today. After picking up a book at the University College library, I’m working at Robart’s library this evening. But on a different floor this time to change things up.
As this paper nears completion the book stack gets larger. I am glad it will be finished today (it has to be, it’s due at midnight), but I will miss the process. It’s been nice to get back into the groove of schoolwork after everything.

Is there anything more lovely than leisurely study in the summer?

I'm working on developing the thesis I'll complete this year. This is a passage that really stuck with me, from one of the foremost sources I'll be using for the project.
"Schiller projected an example of true friendship in his ballad "Die Bürgschaft" from 1798. Here a man called Möros tries to assassinate the tyrant Dionysius the Elder, ruler of Syracuse in Sicily since 405, but the political criminal is caught just in time and immediately condensed to suffer the death penalty. ...
"Before being executed, however, the assassin begs the king to grant him three days respite during which he would like to arrange his sister's marriage. The tyrant insidiously grants him this break from his death penalty, but only on the condition that he finds a friend willing to serve as his guarantor for his return. If he fails to arrive within the stipulated time, however, the friend would be put to death in his stead, which then would leave Möros scot-free, however deeply burdened by painful feelings of guilt.
"Indeed, the tyrant... dangles the most tempting proverbial carrot in front of him, offering him the chance of life if he betrays his friend, although then it would be a life of shame and dishonour.
"But Möros's friend immediately agrees to serve in this precarious function, and the erstwhile assassin rushes away to carry out his family business and to meet his obligation as his sister's authority figure. On the third day, once he has successfully accomplished his task, he makes every attempt to return home and to free his friend from the prison before the set deadline, but suddenly both nature and robbers stand in his way...
"Nevertheless, Möros makes every possible attempt, overcoming fear of death and all kinds of threats, and reaches the city just when his friend is about to be crucified in his place.

"Despite being warned of the danger for his life and being advised to turn away and rescue himself, Möros pushes through the crowd and demands that the tyrant release his friend and take him instead, as would be his moral and ethical duty. The crowd is deeply amazed, if not shocked, and the news of this unheard of proof of unfailing friendship quickly reaches the tyrant. Dionysius calls these two friends to his court, stares at them in great surprise, and then suddenly changes his mind, acknowledging that these two have proven that the traditional value of friendship still holds true."
-Albrecht Classen, Friendship - The Quest for a Human Ideal

Hi, I am looking for a lesbian magazine called Siren. It ran from 1995 to 2004. Do you happen to know about it and know where we can find it online? I'd be very grateful for your help please!
Hello, and thank you for your ask. First, my apologies for excessive delay.
Second, while I have yet to lay hands on a copy of any of the Siren periodicals myself, I have heard of it ... a cursory search of Worldcat shows that there are a few libraries in the USA (University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI, the Ohio State Library in Columbus, OH, and the Cornell University Library in Ithaca, NY) that may have copies of that magazine in their archives. Otherwise, it appears there are a number of Canadian libraries that have copies. See the details here. A Yale University guide from 2005 also claims to have a few of the magazines (See here.)
Worldcat is a pretty good resource, but of course it often doesn't capture the potential catalogue of every archive out there. If you are looking for in-person copies, I'd recommend studying a map of your area to see what colleges and libraries that might conveniently be in your area, and then perusing the internet for any associated websites these libraries and colleges might have. With any luck, they may have an online record listing their current archival contents. Any library or archive with a dedicated LGBT+ section might show promise ... and you can always ask that same archive if they know of any other archive with copies, if they themselves lack copies of the Siren magazine. (I would go for college archives first, personally.)
Going off wild guess, I would assume that within the USA, the best chances of finding a physical copy might lie with archives relatively close to Toronto, Canada, as that was where the magazine was originally published. State-wise, Toronto's closest neighbors are Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. I wouldn't be surprised if Chicago, Illinois has something ... I love the libraries over there, quite extensive.
As for online copies of Siren, I haven't run across an issue yet. If this changes, I'll report my findings with a reply to this same ask.
#thatbutcharchivist#questions for the archivist#the archivist answers#siren magazine#lesbian magazine#canadian lesbian magazine#thank you for your ask!#and for everyone else who sent in an ask that i have yet to answer#you have not been forgotten#though i understand of course if given the time it's taken me to reply this may seem absurd

At this point, it's hard to tell if people like this are profoundly stupid, extremely lazy, deeply antisemitic (while trying to pretend they're not), or a combination of all three. 🙄
Since we're here, and this bozo wants examples of Antisemitism from the Left because they can't be arsed to do any research for themselves, here are some examples since the October 7th attack:
A Spike in Antisemitic Hate Crimes in London since the October 7th attack
Rise in Antisemitism in New York City
A man punching a woman for possibly being Jewish
Free Palestine users harassing a 97 year old Jewish Holocaust Survivor on TikTok (as well as bullying other Jews on social media)
Pro-Palestine protestors in Toronto attacking Jews
Threats to kill and rape Jewish students at Cornell University
Paris Subway Passengers screaming "Fuck The Jews......We are Nazis and Proud"
Twitter/X screenshots of Antisemitism from the Left
Leftist Tumblr users coming onto an Israeli LGBT woman's blog telling her "she deserves to die" (and other vile comments)
London Holocaust Library being defaced with Pro-Palestine slogans, and a Jewish Cemetery being defaced with a Nazi swastika and the ceremonial hall being set on fire
Bomb threats and attacks on Jewish synagogues
More reported cases of antisemitism
The latest cases of antisemitism (as of this week)
Jewish Students Assaulted (and Jewish Student Center Vandalized)
MSNBC calling out the rise in antisemitism on college campuses
Multiple attacks on Jews where people were either screaming "Kill the Jews" or "Gas the Jews" or defacing Holocaust memorials and other vile antisemitic acts
The infamous video of University Presidents who couldn't answer a simple "yes or no" question about whether calling for the genocide of Jews constitutes bullying and harassment
I could list other examples and links I have on file of Antisemitism from the Left (and I'm sure others can highlight examples I either didn't cover or might not know about), but I've made my point: If whenmagicfilledtheair actually gave a crap about this, they would have put in the work to look up these cases up for themselves. They are willfully turning a blind eye because it's convenient for them to do so.
whenmagicfilledtheair is antisemitic and doesn't want to own up to that. This also applies to others on the Left right now who are being downright sociopathic in their treatment of Jews.

Tuesday December 19th
Working on a paper at the college library this afternoon. I think my college library is prettiest, but I’m probably biased. Featuring some lovely bookshelves in the sun, and the caramel brûlée latte I snuck in.

My cat keeps bringing me dead things that don't look like any known animal. Looking at them hurts my eyes and they seem to change shape every time I look at them. Is there any special way I should dispose of them? I'm starting to worry.
Cats are weird, man.
It’s been pretty obvious, though understudied, that our feline friends aren’t totally “in this universe” on a good day. We’re not really sure why, and anyone that tells you they know is lying to you. We’re reasonably sure cats aren’t alien, or Outsider touched, or even sapient. Typically.
A lot of them can at least see into the various planes that overlap realspace. That’s why cats aren’t allowed on Office grounds, except the main Library in Archival, because our resident archivist expert Miss Cece is a persuasive lady.
Thank you for uploading the picture, by the way. The cognitohazard scrubbers come back clean, so….ah, yeah, I’ve seen this before. Good news and bad news. The good news is your cat is helping you with your [REDACTED MEMETICS DETECTED, SCRUBBERS ENGAGED. PROTOCOL DANGERMOUSE ENACTED. PLEASE STAND BY.] infestation. The bad news is you have a [REDACTED MEMETICS DETECTED, SCRUBBERS ENGAGED. PROTOCOL DANGERMOUSE ENACTED. PLEASE STAND BY.] infestation. This should honestly go away in a few days. Don’t look at them, don’t touch them with bare skin, and for the love of god don’t let the carcasses touch any right angles. You can burn the carcasses according to local fire regulations. If burning is not an option, contact the Office Esoteric Waste Management team and we’ll dispose of them properly.
I remember the first time I saw a colony of [REDACTED MEMETICS DETECTED, SCRUBBERS ENGAGED. PROTOCOL DANGERMOUSE ENACTED. PLEASE STAND BY.] in an abandoned building in….was that Toronto? Yeah. I was helping RCOE with a [REDACTED MEMETICS DETECTED, SCRUBBERS ENGAGED. PROTOCOL DANGERMOUSE ENACTED. PLEASE STAND BY.] colony that had been seen in the building. Causing all kinds of ruckus in the local fabric of reality, let me tell you. Worse yet, Toronto has one of the nodes for Yukon Prime, Canada’s National AI project. My Canadian friends might know that Prime is a little eclectic at the best of times so they were concerned.
Anyway, you’ve never seen a group of [REDACTED MEMETICS DETECTED, SCRUBBERS ENGAGED. PROTOCOL DANGERMOUSE ENACTED. PLEASE STAND BY.] descend on a structure and [REDACTED MEMETICS DETECTED, SCRUBBERS ENGAGED. PROTOCOL DANGERMOUSE ENACTED. PLEASE STAND BY.] until you can’t even step on solid ground because of the [REDACTED MEMETICS DETECTED, SCRUBBERS ENGAGED. PROTOCOL DANGERMOUSE ENACTED. PLEASE STAND BY.]. Luckily we had some reality anchors on hand and it was back to normal in like. Three days.
#office for the preservation of normalcy#ask#advice#artificial intelligence#Yukon Prime#rcoe#ooc: do you guys like the longer more rambling answers?

DAY 5989
Jalsa, Mumbai July 11, 2024 Thu 9:50 pm
Birthday Ef - Vijay Joglekar, Dombivali , Mumbai .. heartiest greetings for this day and all the love from the Ef family ..🌹
🪔 ,
July 12 .. birthday greetings to Ef Vijay Joglekar from Dombivali .. Ef M. Zaheer Sattar from Malawi 🇲🇼 .. and Ef Dr. Pravin P Patel from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦 .. 🙏🏻❤️🚩
In time .. in time .. IN TIME ..
At last .. but at work and the short break as the tech people work , I do my tech and the writing and the connect for the Blogomaeastra ..
After a long and arduous waiting does the time come to have spent time in the doing of 'nothing' .. and that in writing may sound as a gift to many but in reality it is a burden .. when nothing to do, there is nothing to be gained or learnt or executed .. no work, no activation of the senses that motivate or exercise the mind and body .. it be the curse ..
At a recording finally at the end of the day for an evening for another, that creates the mystique of mythology .. and during the various chapters that come up, comes a chapter of Kalki , in the sequence that dwells on the creation of the Universe , and it's coming during the time passage , which has , quite interestingly been covered in the film KALKI .. and the mysteries of its coming ..
Really there is so much to learn from our scriptures, that an effort is being made to acquire all that could possibly educate an uneducated me, to be of some knowledge ..
So an issue of several volumes of the MAHABHARAT was ordered, and when it arrived, there was the issue of keeping the book in the home .. for kept in the home is considered a NO .. so given to a library .. and back to the source that prints my words here - the net !!
Each day is filled with questions that we overlooked earlier .. and the desire to acquire that information and knowledge is so acute that each moment the mind begins to get into an analytic mode .. and the why and when and wherefore begin to erupt ..
Fascinating, this , at a stage when time is not ideally right, or perhaps not enough .. but that thought should be kept away from the being .. one shall find time to learn even at this advanced age ..

Affection and love ..❤️

CDK: The Bullpen
Published: 9-14-2024 | Updated: N/A SUMMARY Use the Cubic Dynamics Kitbash (Simmons, 2023-2024) collection to set up corporate, exposition, and office environments. Envisioned as an add-on to the Cubic Dynamics set (EA/Maxis, archived at GOS), it features minimalist and retro-futuristic objects. Find more CC on this site under the #co2cdkseries tag. Read the Backstory and ‘Dev Notes’ HERE. The BULLPEN set is designed to help you create cubicles and co-working spaces for your interns. This is where the indispensable grunt work gets done – where all new and entry-level employees earn their stripes.
DETAILS All EPs/SPs. §See Catalog for Pricing | See Buy/Build Mode You need the Company Expo (Mesh Pack) set (Simmons, 2024) for TXTRs to show properly in game. ALL files with “MESH” in their name are REQUIRED. Several objects in this series are oversized/offset. You may need to shift an objects upwards once to level it, and you may need “move objects” and “grid on/off” cheats to place them to your liking. When placing partitions/floating shelves and tables/desks/counters on the same tile, place the partition/shelves first. I recommend using this set with Object Freedom 1.02 (Fway, 2023), which includes Numenor’s fix for OFB shelves (2006), for easier use overall. ITEMS Desks 001-002 (612 poly) Floating Desks 001-002 (276 poly) Partitions 001-003 (24 poly) -designed to overlap; place BEFORE adding desks on same tile Task Board (392 poly) – repo’d to the “Stick ‘Em Up bulletin Board” (University EP). DOWNLOAD (choose one) from SFS | from MEGA COMPATIBILITY AVOID DUPLICATES: The #co2cdkseries includes edited versions – replacements - for items in the following CC sets: 4ESF (office 3, other 1/artroom, other 2/build), All4Sims/MaleorderBride (miskatonic library, office, postmodern office), CycloneSue (never ending/privacy windows), derMarcel (inx office), Katy76/PC-Sims (bank/cash point, court/law school sets, sim cola machine), Marilu (immobilien office), Murano (ador office), Reflex Sims (giacondo office), Retail Sims/HChangeri (simEx, sps store), Simgedoehns/Tolli (focus kitchen, loft office, modus office), ShinySims (modern windows), SH (reverie office, step boxes/shelving), Spaik (sintesi study), Stylist Sims (offices 1,2, & 3, Toronto set), Tiggy027 (wall window frames 1-10), Wall Sims (holly architecture, Ibiza). *The goal is to link the objects to the recolors/new functions in the #co2cdkseries without re-inventing the wheel!
