Enough time has passed to where I think we can openly admit how WK has gone through seasonal rot within its previous 2 seasons and how the hype of Season 7 along with the generally positive reception is a really green flag for the show's quality.

This might be the smallest of nitpicks i had with Moffat's era, but my mom is a nurse and I was constantly irritated by the implications that being a nurse was less than being a doctor. Nurses do twice the physical work for half the money/praise. They have to have a good bedside manner and should have a certain kindness to them that a Doctor doesn't necessarily have to have.

There was an angle that could have been played in the actual show if the writers were interested in Rory as a character rather than a prop. We got it occasionally like in the doctor's wife with Rory asking how the doctor just moves on from death/closes Idris' eyes, but most of the time it was just played as him being a lesser version of the doctor which irritates me because there is something gendered about the concept of nursing being lesser even though nursing is not a women only field (my uncle is also a nurse).

And I know that Moffat/the writers thought exactly on those lines, like nursing somehow emasculated Rory instead of being a strength, and it would have been SO EASY to make his skill useful (which I think is why I liked the handling of Rory being a nurse the most in 7a which is ironic because I mostly hate 7a but he got to help heal both when it came to his father and in the hospital). There could have been something INTERESTING in the concept of Rory as a caretaker, Rory as the one who heals hands-on, Rory finding a purpose. This TARDIS team could have been equals, but because Rory was only ever a stand-in for the “right sort of man” for the writers, he was never going to be fully-fleshed out & never a true equal to 11amy.

matt describing vax as — raven-like dagger-wielding champion of the raven queen — when vax decides to use his wings in the battle with sondur just paints such a powerful image. it's this kind of a heroic transition where we know he was skillful and powerful before but this is a different level, beyond and above of what he used to be. but also. there was a path to learn, to accept and to embrace and now he is here in all his glory. a champion.

i dont know if i have any particular analysis of that but i do think that scene highlights an interesting element of bkgs character which is that he is decidedly not very shallow

i think often his arrogance or projected arrogance makes his fandom image a guy who is shallowly obsessed with appearances. but i think for him to say what part of her was frail kind of speaks to the fact that the opposite is true. that bkg doesn't see people as their appearance but measures them by what they're capable of

Emotional rollercoaster ride for me the past 7 days.

P3 FeMC cutscene project released a 100% new Opening (and the project, at least the PS2 cutscenes, are wrapping up soon~!), and the opening is amazing and I love it and ajfkdlsajflkdsjaklfjsa

Frozen 3 got announced with a release date (and Hans got named dropped) and I'm feeling a lotta mixed emotions there~!

Allow me to be needlessly viscous for a moment but I’ve never actually watched that Lily Orchard everything wrong with Steven universe video until now in the context of someone refuting it and can I just say holy shit her lack of media literacy and inability to construct meaningful critique or persuasive arguments is honestly staggering. Seriously, this is the video that became the backbone of the SU backlash? Why was this person ever able to accrue a platform for media critique. The grip this below mediocre piece of trash had on the fandom is beyond me. I’m being mean but also so fucking genuine. Among any valid criticism people had for this childrens show there was so much pedantic garbage about off model animation and transparently reactionary bullshit that’s become such a lasting imprint on the show’s reputation that thinking about it was honestly making me existentially depressed. I’m not even mad about the idea of critiquing Steven Universe. I have critiques of Steven Universe. I’m mad that an essay this incompetently argued got so popular. You guys are not serious people
