Theories S2 Arcane (Part 1) [little SPOILERS]

I'm going to analyse the theories that arise (my opinion) after the content that has been shown about the second season of Arcane.

I will start with the most obvious theories.

VANDER IS WARWIK

This is the truest theory of all. The vast majority of us who know Runeterra lore know that Warwick is Vander. For those of you who are only familiar with the series and know nothing about this League of Legends champion, I'll briefly discuss why we're all saying this.

If we check the character's biography on the League of Legends website (link) we can see that it describes Warwick as a former gangster who left that life to live a quieter one (as Vander did).

A little further down he indicates that he remembers a girl's voice, but does not know what it says. That little girl is probably Vi, since she was the person who saw him die. But it could also be Power, or even both.

And finally, it is known that Singed, the creator character of the Simer, is the one created by Warwick, and this has also been advanced in the series, at the beginning of the years.

JAYCE VS VIKTOR (Lore link)

Yep! Maybe there are other theories for you that are more confirmed and catch you by surprise, but this is more true than Cait and Vi's kiss in this season.

Currently the lore of Jayce and Viktor is partly different from that seen in Arcane. For example, the teacher who was with both of them at the academy was not Heimerdinger, but Stanwick, who we saw in episode 4 of the first season as Heimerdinger's partner and founder of Piltover.

It is known that as a result of an invention they both have, they end up arguing and parting ways. In the original lore, Viktor's illness is barely mentioned. It is mentioned that before entering the academy, when he was a child, he enhanced his body with pieces of metal, which we haven't seen yet, beyond the ‘enhancement’ with Simer + Hextech.

I'm not going to say too much because it would be a SPOILER, but surely, because of Jinx's rocket, their paths will separate in such a way that they will become enemies.

CAITVI KISS SCENE

Let's get down to what we've all been waiting for. The long awaited kiss (and possible sex scene) that some of us have been waiting for many (too many) years.

We know that Cait and Vi are very attracted to each other, even if Vi said ‘we are oil and water’, in her warm heart she is in love with Cait and vice versa. Partly, I think, what happens to Cait's mother Cassandra after Jinx's rocket will drive a wedge between Cait and Vi, why?

Although right now I don't see Caitlyn as a person who thinks that for “being sister of” I hate you for no other reason, and she will want Vi by her side as Enforcer, to capture and/or kill Jinx, in case her mother dies (in my sincere opinion she doesn't die because there is still the lore with Corina), she will judge every action that Vi takes on Jinx, being this the trigger to “break” again. Recall that we have seen the emo Vi, and in the words of the screenwriters, at the Annecy festival, “what would happen if Vi has no one to protect?”. In addition to hallucinations seeing Caitlyn. The sex scene I think will be a flashback, I think they both had intimate relations at Caitlyn's house before going to the Council, that's why when they are caught by Jinx, I saw the image he has of Caitlyn, she is lying on that bed.

Piltover and Zaun vs. Noxus

I could already smell the battle. Piltover and Zaun are two cities in the continent of Valorant, which exist thanks to a pact with Noxus, since they are in its territerium, and it is a very important trading point, also with the region of Shurima.

Ambessa is uneasy. She wants to get hold of Hextech technology to defeat an enemy that terrifies her. From the lore it is known that there are two sides in Noxus, Swain, and The Black Rose, LeBlanc. We don't know which side Ambessa is on. We don't know if Mel dies or not, but from the previous season, we know she wants weapons, and she needs them now.

Ambessa is a warrior, she is a woman forged in war, and that means only one thing, control. She wants control. In the first season we saw her use that control. You have to be both a fox and a wolf. In the first season, when she was trying to persuade Jayce and her daughter Mel to create weapons, she was a fox, in this second season, the fox will show her wolf fangs. BUT. Piltover and Zaun are not Noxus. Mel (if she doesn't die), Jayce, Caitlyn, Vi, Jinx and Ekko will be in charge of preventing both cities from succumbing to Medarda's yoke.

MICHELLE'S MENTOR

So, fun fact: I was trying not to spam my reacts in chat this time, because I was feeling self-conscious about how much I talk. I got through almost the entire beach scene without expressing any of the many, MANY emotions I was feeling.

The thing that made me break my vow of silence, open discord, and run over to my group DMs was hearing the name "Jayce Rogers."

To which I simply responded,

"NO FUCK WHAT?!?!?!?!??!??!"

I'm still in shock, gang.

Michelle Kim was a hot-tempered kid who went to Valor Academy, had the Protégé playbook, and Jayce Fucking Rogers was her mentor. They fought a lot. She was reckless with her powers until the accident with Gavin's parents, at which point the trauma made her 180 in personality and become the control freak (hah) that she remained until her death.

It seems like Jayce didn't even keep in touch with her. Gavin says he'll have to tell him what happened.

I... don't know how to properly express my emotions, so I'm just kind of. Restating the facts. What else can I do?

Jayce Rogers grew up, graduated Valor Academy, and moved in with (and probably married) Ethan Valez. He became the sort of Doctor Strange side-character who occasionally saved the world from threats singlehandedly and never mentioned them again. And at some point in all of that, he became a mentor to a hot-tempered girl named Michelle Kim— a girl who, without his presence, would undoubtedly also have the Nova playbook.

They fought. A lot. Jayce probably complained about her to Ethan all the time. Did Suheyla know? Does Suheyla know, right now, that someone's going to have to tell Jayce?

You don't become a mentor without reason. Even if all Jayce wanted to do was help her control her powers, he stepped up to the plate and did that, despite all his dislike of kids. There's an entire story we never saw there.

I actually really like this one, and I think it fits for every character so I wanted it as an opening

super happy song for the team, it’s a little too happy but I wanted it to be a noticeable decline from how when they were kids talking about life being to short and hating the town and how they could be reckless, to then knowing that they died because of all that and how quickly it all went down

good to be alive - pvris

this songs for Vi. I wanted this to be about how bitter she is about the state of things. How she’s always looking for a fight. This is for more when she’s a child and there’s just a lot of anger about what her life is like in the underground

what’s wrong - half alive

i wanted a song for jayce more at the beginning, where him and viktor are both so optimistic about what this can do. “It’s not qutie done, but it’s time to fix what’s wrong,” but the beginning really foreshadows how it goes with “started with the right intentions but left them on the shelf,” becuase intially that just refers to going behind the academy’s back to do this, but eventually it’s so much more serious

for when Vi decides to turn herself in. I think a lot of it is because she clearly feels like she’s failed powder (”she had eyes so blue like the weather, when she needed me I wasn’t around”) and that she has to be the one to take the fall to protect her for it. And I think it also foreshadows how she is gonna fail her again once she’s in prison because she won’t be there for her

die for you - valorant, grabbitz

Vander when he’s fighting to save them right before he dies, to the point where he even uses shimmer to do it. I think this mindset got picked up by Vi too

this is a song from vis perspective, after having lost her father figure, and not even having powder or knowing what happened to her. Mostly for her in prison, she’s scared to lose powder. “Why do memories glow the way real moments don’t? My altar is full of loves delusions” “I’m scared to lose what’s left and I should forget but I love what’s left” showing that even once she starts to hear things negative about powder she still is rooting for her no matter what

chlorine - twenty one pilots

This is one of the more filler songs, but I wanted kind of an underground sounding song that touches on people struggling with shimmer. And some of the lyrics vaguely fit especially for vi

I wanted one cute song for jayce and viktor. They fr both stopped the other from KOing themselves before so I think this applies 

arsonist's lullabye- hozier

so this is mostly a silco song and then jinx. The lyrics apply to him, but I also think it shows how he connects so well to jinx and how he raised her. Also I think it’s clever that he’s her father figure, she’s an arsonist ykty, and even how he “keeps her on a leash” in the way he tells her not to tame her demons but to leash them

jinx wants a fun song, this is really to introduce jinx from how we knew her as powder

i wanted this to be a song where different lyrics correspond to different people, mostly revolving around Vi’s experiences. “If I did it could u be the only one who understood? If I say sorry would you tell me I did everything I could?” Is how jinx tells vi that she’s changed and vi keeps assuring her that it’s okay, and that she did what she had to. but you also have soldier girl drama going on at the same time, so we switch to “you’re prettier than anything I’ve seen in my whole life” yet later its ‘you said goodbye” from soldier girl. “Evil secret you’re the precious thing I hide” is like how vi is still trying to protect jinx but keeps it secret from soldier girl. And the lyric “I’d be foolish if I trusted you after everything you’ve done” really applies to all of them

this for mostly jayce, mostly how he’s with Mel but he still be thinking about vik. Also mentions Mel with “there was a different face beside me but i sent her away because you’re not here’ for how he left her when vik got sick

so I think normally using references like this is a little cringy but for this song I think the reference just parallels the jinx versus powder thing, and since this is from the perspective of jinx it would make sense that it’s a little off and weird

I wanted a jinx and ekko song where ekko is kind of like “I lost you and you’re bad now but I have to move on” because ultimately ekko is one of the only ones that really moves on to make something better with all the crappy stuff that happened to him. Also their fight scene is just so sick

darling - halsey

parallel to good to be alive when she says “only you have shown me how to love being alive.” This is a love song between vi and caitlyn, how vi “never had a stable home.” I also think this fits because vi kind of only had caitlyn as something good since she became an adult

I wanted a song that kind of shows an inside look at why vi leaves caitlyn. Another parallel to vi’s other songs “cause now that I want to live everyone around me is dying.” This song for me shows that she can’t let go of powder, no matter what, and she can’t risk Caityln getting hurt or distracting her from that. “The truths a killer but I can’t leave it alone” and “you don’t remember my name some days or that we are related” towards powder (the name thing need to be taken reverse because powder/jinx, and then that powder sometimes insists she’s no longer vi’s sister)

favorite crime - olivia rodrigo

this is for when vi leaves caitlyn, because she really did go out of her normal life and the rules mostly for herself but for Vi too. I don’t want it to seem like it’s too toxic, just that caitlyn feels left behind and even says “I’d do it all again” (also don’t take this one too seriously, caitlyn had her own motivations aside from vi but I still think it fits)

goodbye, my danish sweetheart - mitski

very clearly jinx, she just wack tbh not much else needs to be said

conspiracy of silence - the swoons

this is kind of vik and jayces finale song for this playlist. Jayce to viktor: are you sick to the bone? Because you reap what you sow. Viktor: will you fight for your life or take a fools paradise? ... I think it is just mostly about how the council is cooked and looking at whether or not they’ll make a deal with silco “will you weapon your skin, feed the monster within, or put up a fight”

in the embers - sleeping at last 

hopefully a good finale song. Partially choses because “in the embers” is the title lolol and I see this as play8ing while the council building is being blown up. But it also just fits with this narrative of living and dying and the legacy you leave behind
