DAY 5
Ais × Kuras - Shibari + Pain
[Very mild NSFW]
The clinic was far enough from the festival noise that the drums like a distant heartbeat.
Ais sat on the floor, shirtless, spine taut as Kuras moved around him—rope in hand, practiced fingers tying careful knots. There was no rush, after all. (There was, they just didn’t care.)
Ais’s breath caught as the first loop tightened around his shoulders.
“You sure?” Kuras murmured. Ais nodded. “Words, Ais.”
“Yes,” he said. “I want it.”
Kuras hummed softly, almost to himself. “Then breathe.”
With every twist of rope, Kuras pulled him tighter; across the chest, around the biceps, down to the small of his back. Patterns began to emerge—precise, mirrored and beautiful—as Ais became more still by the minute.
Until Kuras leaned down and bit the back of his neck.
Ais gasped. “I said pain,” he growled, breath shaking.
“You’ll get it,” Kuras murmured, brushing his thumb across the red mark blooming there. “I just like to start soft.”
He tightened another knot—sharply. Ais groaned, arms flexing instinctively against the ropes, but they didn’t give.
“You hold so much,” Kuras said softly, behind him. “Anger.”
“And?”
Kuras stepped into his space, pressing two fingers beneath Ais’s chin and tilting his head up.
“You should relax. Otherwise, there’s no point.” Ais caught a glimpse of a smirk before he was slapped—not across the face, but right on the thigh, where muscle bruised and blood would rush to the surface. Ais swore. Kuras only smiled. “Color looks good on you.”
Another strike—this time across his chest, just below the line of rope.
Then another. Ais was shaking.
“Still with me?” Kuras asked, voice low.
“Yeah,” Ais rasped. “More.”
Kuras obliged.
Open-palmed slaps, a sharp bite to the collarbone, teeth sinking into his hipbone until Ais moaned; not from pleasure, not yet, but from the sheer release of it.
And Kuras, calm as ever, trailed his fingers along every single red mark. “You’re doing well,” he murmured. “You’re stunning like this.”
Ais laughed. “You’re the first person to say that while beating the shit out of me.”
Kuras kissed the side of his neck. “Then they weren’t doing it right.”
He noticed Ais’s chest rising too fast, breaths shallow. His arms pinned behind him, his spine forced straight, his legs spread and trembling from the strain. Bruises bloomed across his thighs, his hips, the edges of his ribs where Kuras’s hands had landed again and again.
Kuras’s voice came calm again, “Focus.”
Ais’s eyes snapped open.
“You’re breathing too quickly,” Kuras said. “Breathe with me.” He leaned in, pressed his forehead to Ais’s, and exhaled.
Ais tried to follow, but faltered. “I can’t—”
“You can.” Kuras’s hand came to his throat. Gentle pressure, fingers just below the jaw. “Do you trust me?”
Ais nodded.
Kuras layed pressure on him, not dangerously, but bnough to make the air slow and force Ais to sharpen into clarity. He loosened his grip the moment he saw the shimmer of panic behind Ais’s eyes. “You’re doing perfectly. Do you want to stop?”
Ais shook his head hard. “No. Just—fuck, don’t stop touching me.”
So Kuras touched him; hands mapped every rope-wrapped inch of skin, every bruise was kissed and every tremble was met with stillness. He waited until Ais’s breath came steady again before he began to untie him. Knot by knot—no rush.
And when the ropes slid free, Kuras caught him before he could collapse. “I’ve got you,” he whispered. “Stay here.” He wrapped him in a soft, woven blanket.
He brushed a hand gently over the deep red mark blooming on Ais’s inner thigh. “This one’s my favorite.” Ais hummed in agreement.
A door opened—they didn’t hear it at first. Ais was too deep in the afterglow—half-draped in a blanket, body loose, eyes unfocused, and Kuras ran a warm cloth across the inside of his thigh.
“...Kuras?”
Ais flinched, Kuras, maddeningly unbothered, looked up like he’d been waiting for this.
“Arioch,” he said, serene. “You’re early.”
Arioch had stopped dead just inside the threshold. Their whole soul left their body for a second. The silence was beyond horrifying.
“I—I’m covering for Mhin,” they said, voice strangled. “I didn’t know anyone was—this wasn’t—”
Ais groaned and dropped his head back against the wall. “Just you, Sparrow.”
“I didn’t see anything!” Arioch blurted, hands up. “Or—I saw everything, but I didn’t mean to see—”
“Arioch,” Kuras said gently. “It’s alright.”
“No. It’s not. That’s—was that shibari?! Was that—do you do this here? Is this part of the clinic?”
“You’re yelling,” Ais said, half-muffled by the blanket. He kinda looked like a cat—an exhausted one, at that.
“I am not yelling!”
“You’re yelling in your inside voice.”
Kuras shifted Ais to sit up a little straighter and reached for a clean salve pot. “Would you mind grabbing fresh towels? Top shelf, third cabinet.”
Arioch blinked. “You—you want me to help?”
“You’re here, aren’t you?”
Arioch, completely short-circuiting, crossed the room, still red-faced and jittering, and pulled the towels with trembling hands. “Did—did you at least sign the waiver?”
Ais wheezed.
Kuras moved quietly around the room, cleaning up—rope coiled with the same care he gave to surgical tools. Arioch, cornered by context and curiosity, stood with a towel awkwardly clutched in both hands, eyes definitely not drifting to the rope pile again.
“You can ask,” Ais said finally, voice hoarse. “Before you sprain something from holding it in.”
Arioch’s eyes snapped back to him. “Ask what? I wasn’t—I wasn’t going to—!”
“You’ve been staring at the rope,” Ais drawled.
“I was just—observing! From an academic—”
“Mhm.”
Kuras, not even looking up, said mildly, “It’s fine to be curious, Arioch.”
Arioch froze. “I’m not—curious. I mean, not like that. Just... I didn’t know it could be... that.”
“That?” Ais echoed, amused.
Arioch gestured vaguely to his chest. “That pretty.”
Kuras spoke gently. “It is. It’s not just restraint—but a form of communication.” He looked up. “If you’re ever interested in learning—”
“I’m not!” Arioch blurted. “I mean... maybe. Just the knots. For, like... first aid purposes.”
Ais snorted. “Yeah, you’re gonna tourniquet my soul, huh?”
“I hate you,” Arioch mumbled, bright red now, face in their hands. They didn’t leave.
Made this for @nutashall <3 - We need more Kurais ! ! !

i understand some fearmongering about ai but like man video games are 1. Already Bad 2. Trying to get more mainstream clout so they want a high quality product often, and if they just want to churn out a cheap product, no one is already getting paid anyways, right? 3. They're already not very good 4. The true souls, the real art heads, theyre out there making shit, that will be great anyway. and maybe if they do have ai stuff, the little guys, they have some more resources. so they can do more. with the smaller budget. BASICALLY WHOOOO CARES THE STATE OF GAMING HAS BEEN GRIM FOREVER.

I'd like to share something with you, Tumblr.
When I first played D&D 3.5, many years ago now, I played a bard named Wren, using a homebrew race that you could find on the official Wizards forums around that time called the Kassuri. He was a goofy little manlet with the ears and tail of a fox who knew no fear. He got to ride on the back of a luck dragon.
He tamed a shocker lizard and named it Tazer. He once drank a whole bucket of dwarven ale without getting drunk, and then shouted, "I said a large glass!" and another time bluffed a group of elven soldiers that the Half-orc paladin was his pet. When a demon killed his mentor, he avenged them and made a coat out of the demon's wings.
He fought his former friend turned enemy, almost died, and won. He got knighted by his king after starting the campaign exiled from his homeland, and then prayed so hard to be a better person that his alignment shifted right before going to face the final boss. When he realized the BBEG was sensitive to sounds and played a heavy metal lute solo so sick that it literally caused their Fortress of Evil to collapse.
It was a silly game, played fast and loose by a group that only half understood the rules, but it was a blast to play. After having some not-so-good experiences with AD&D (may I never forget The Exploding Cleric), it was the first game I ever played to the end of a campaign. I loved the game, and I love my group from back then...Hothgoth, Lios, Pixie, Elena, Leif, and even the others who came in later and didn't stick around as long. I've held onto those memories, and my beloved "first successful character", ever since.
Until the tail end of last year, I never had any decent art of him.
Tumblr media
This is Wren, almost perfectly as I envisioned him all those years ago.
The sad truth is, unless you're an artist yourself, it can be hard to get character art for TTRPGs. Most people I know in the hobby don't have a lot of money, and even if they do you never know how long a character may last before getting killed by bad rolls. Back in the day, for the game Wren is from, we just used a text description and imagined the character. These days, most people I know use a virtual table top. Characters need tokens (and usually profile pictures for when other players check the sheet), and for hardcore players like me that are in several games a week, that's a lot of art that could need swapped out on a moment's notice.
The sad truth is, people just steal it. Even the people I know who are artists steal art, only really drawing characters they get attached to. We discuss what images would be good for characters, show one-another what we've found, and it's not uncommon to decide details about a character based on what kind of a picture you can find for them. So...when AI art started becoming a thing, I got excited.
Artist Tumblr probably noticed right away that the picture up there is AI generated. It's a pretty good output, but there's still telltale signs. Yes I notice them, and no they don't bother me. It's better than any of the attempts I ever made at doing a picture myself, and even if I could afford a picture of that level of quality, who knows if the artist I found would be able to fully understand my description the way I see it in my head, or if they would be willing to put in the time and effort to revise it to my satisfaction. It was going to be imperfect either way, but I was able to take time (a frankly ridiculous amount) to tweak things and start over and try different approaches until it was to my satisfaction.
...and like I said, I make a lot of characters. Now, instead of just finding some picture I like and stealing it wholesale, I end up generating a lot of character art. It's just for my personal use either way, and thanks to AI, I get to express my own ideas.
I know some people out there are abusing the technology to make a quick buck, but please remember that's a fault of those people. There are people abusing just about every technology out there. For other people, who are only trying to use it to express themselves or to do things without needing an additional skillset they don't have, AI art is a godsend.

Dogwood Records 🎧
Have you ever wanted to own a record store? Now you can! Well, in game at least (lol). I always had this vision of what I wanted my store to look like- and I have finally created this set that kind of brought that vision to life. Dusty wooden furniture, neon lights, record players and records scattered everywhere were just some of the things I had in mind but I hope this set will bring you so much more.
The record covers WERE NOT ai generated! One half is by real life artists + a cartoonizing effect and Topaz Clean (a PS plugin) and the other half was purchased by me on Unsplash+: here is a detailed post on my blog with how I created them and with all the links to the albums and art.
To download everything and get some more info on the items + the monthly Patreon's gift set, CLICK HERE to visit my Patreon page (the set will be public on 4th May).
Tumblr media
Fun fact: I wanted to add functionality to this set so the records can be sold & bought (when placed on the Stairway To Heaven retail shelf) at your small business (requires the Business & Hobbies EP)! Once your sim buys them, they can be found in the Household Inventory. What's a better b'day present for a sim than their favorite record? There's also a magazine/comic book rack so that your customers can entertain themselves while listening to their favorite artist. 🎵
Edit: removed the David Bowie swatch because I was not aware of the allegations surrounding him and I do not support anything of the sort.
Tumblr media
Special thanks to peacemaker for the stunning wood textures; myshunosun, nucrests, helgatisha and trillyke for various textures + simlish graphics <3
