That poor girl saw a guy that gave off creepy vibes and walked away just to be proven that she was right to avoid him. It had nothing to do with transphobia it was about a teen girl encountering a fully grown man who later smashed her car and soiled the inside with human waste
ByReduxx Team
September 9, 2023
A trans-identified male in Portland, Oregon was placed under arrest after reportedly defecating in a teen girl’s vehicle in retaliation for “transphobia.” Vivian Ginger-Rain Shemansky, 44, is facing four counts including criminal mischief in the first degree.
The incident, which occurred on August 27, began after the 17-year-old victim parked near Shemansky’s tent while on a shopping trip. From his tent, Shemansky threw a stick at the girl and called her “transphobic.”
According to a now-deleted GoFundMe campaign for the victim set up by her mother, the teen “was a little confused on what just happened, so she picked up her pace” and continued walking to her destination, a nearby pizza shop she had been to before.
Upon leaving the restaurant 10-15 minutes later, the girl could see from a distance that her front windshield had been shattered. She didn’t approach her car at first, immediately calling 911 from the top of the street before ringing her mother.
“By the time I got there, the full picture of the incident had been exposed,” the girl’s mother wrote in the GoFundMe campaign. “Her car was smashed at all four sides. Every piece of glass was shattered. There was human waste through out the entire car. The police were there and the suspect was cuffed and being arrested.”
According to The Post Millennial, the interior of the 2005 Ford Escape was “smeared all over with feces and urine,” and the vehicle had to be towed as it was deemed a “biohazard.”
Upon being questioned by Police, Shemansky reportedly told officers that the girl had been “transphobic.”
Shemansky was booked as a “female” at the Multnomah County Jail on four counts including criminal mischief in the first degree, unauthorized use of a vehicle, criminal mischief in the second degree, and disorderly conduct in the second degree.
But despite also having existing outstanding warrants, Shemansky was released the same day he was booked. A hearing scheduled for the next day resulted in a failure to appear, and the case is still logged as open in the Oregon Judicial Department’s system.
On his social media, Shemansky’s speaks extensively of “transphobia” and “misgendering,” and appears to take particular exception to being labeled a homosexual.
In one Instagram post from July of 2020, Shemansky wrote that “gender and sex are two different things.” In January of that year, he also uploaded a photo of a Multnomah County name and sex change form he had filled out, as well as a photo of his stash of estrogen hormones.
This is not the first time a trans-identified male vagrant in Portland has been charged after running amok in the city, seemingly with no meaningful intervention from police.
As previously reported by Reduxx, Matthew Clayton Stark, 42, was arrested in May after violating the conditions of his zero-bail release ahead of standing trial on charges of kidnapping, coercion, and interfering with public transportation. The charges stem from a terrifying incident in January of 2022 when Stark reportedly kidnapped a vulnerable minor from a MAX Train. Stark is male, but identifies as a transgender woman named “Tru.”
Despite Stark being well-known to police and having an extensive criminal record, no bail was set after he kidnapped the child and he was released from custody in April of 2022 under the condition he attend outpatient treatment for substance abuse.

💋 That's SO Fetch!: What To Read After Watching Mean Girls
🩷 Good morning, bookish bats! I actually have a weird, complicated relationship with Mean Girls. After reading Queen Bees & Wannabes, my mother didn't let me watch the 2004 film, as if THAT would somehow protect me from the realities of middle and high school (WOW, feeling old writing this now).
👠 Yet somehow, I CONSTANTLY ended up around people obsessed with the movie (and we love Tina Fey, so, I can't blame a single person). Right before the mess of 2020, I even had the luck of seeing Renee Rapp perform as Regina on Broadway, and WOAH. It was everything (and my little, late-in-life bi heart has a whole new appreciation for it). Funnily enough, my parents and sister were with me, and my mom thought nothing of it. It's been a while since I've done one of these posts (namely because of the strike, though I have a few sitting in my queue), so I figured now was the perfect time. Here are a few books to consider reading if you love Mean Girls!
💋 Wren Martin Ruins It All - Amanda Dewitt 🩷 I Kissed Shara Wheeler - Casey McQuiston 👠 Queen Bee - Amalie Howard 💋 Royal Scandal - Aimée Carter 🩷 Diary of a Confused Feminist - Kate Weston 👠 The Revenge Game - Jordyn Taylor 💋 The Night in Question - Kathleen Glasgow and Liz Lawson 🩷 The Way You Make Me Feel - Maurene Goo 👠 Rivals: American Royals III - Katharine McGee 💋 The Favorite Sister - Jessica Knoll 🩷 Fat Talk - Virginia Sole-Smith 👠 Freaks, Gleeks, and Dawson's Creek - Jennifer Keishin Armstrong and Thea Glassman 💋 Queen Bees & Wannabes - Rosalind Wiseman 🩷 Gossip Girl - Cecily Von Ziegesar 👠 Pretty Things - Janelle Brown 💋 How Not to Be Popular - Jennifer Ziegler 🩷 Some Girls Are - Courtney Summers 👠 Pretty Little Liars - Sara Shepard 💋 Tiny Pretty Things - Dhonielle Clayton and Sona Charaipotra 🩷 One of Us is Lying - Karen M. William James “Count” Basie (August 21, 1904 – April 26, 1984) was a jazz pianist, organist, bandleader, and composer. He formed his jazz orchestra, the Count Basie Orchestra, and took them to Chicago for a long engagement and their first recording. He led the group for almost 50 years, creating innovations like the use of two “split” tenor saxophones, emphasizing the rhythm section, riffing with a big band, using arrangers to broaden their sound, and others. Many musicians came to prominence under his direction, including the tenor saxophonists Lester Young and Herschel Evans, the guitarist Freddie Green, trumpeters Buck Clayton and Harry “Sweets” Edison, and singers Jimmy Rushing, Helen Humes, Thelma Carpenter, and Joe Williams.
He was born to Lillian and Harvey Lee Basie in Red Bank, New Jersey. His father worked as a coachman and caretaker for a wealthy judge. After automobiles replaced horses, his father became a groundskeeper and handyman for several wealthy families in the area. Both of his parents had some type of musical background. His father played the mellophone, and his mother played the piano; in fact, she gave him his first piano lessons. She took in laundry and baked cakes for sale for a living. She paid 25 cents a lesson for his piano instruction.
He went to Harlem, a hotbed of jazz. He bumped into Sonny Greer, who was by then the drummer for the Washingtonians, Duke Ellington’s early band. He met many of the Harlem musicians who were “making the scene,” including Willie “the Lion” Smith and James P. Johnson.
He was in Tulsa and heard Walter Page and his Famous Blue Devils, one of the first big bands, which featured Jimmy Rushing on vocals. He was invited to join the band, which played mostly in Texas and Oklahoma. It was at this time that he began to be known as “Count” Basie.
He married Vivian Lee Winn. He married Catherine Morgan, they had one daughter. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence #omegapsiphi

The Gang’s All Here: A War Film, really?
The Gang’s All Here(1943) is a musical film distributed by 20th Century Fox, directed by Busby Berkeley, and starring Alice Faye, Carmen Miranda, and James Ellison. The film follows Ellison as Andy Mason, a wealthy Army Sergeant who falls in with Eadie,a singer and showgirl. When he returns home a hero, his father arranges for Eadie and her company to perform at home, where Mason must deal with his feelings for Eadie and his prior engagement to family friend Vivian.
“Franklin D. Roosevelt instructed OWI to implement a program through the press, radio, and motion pictures to enhance public understanding of the war; to coordinate the war-information activities of all federal agencies; and to act as the intermediary between federal agencies and the radio and motion picture industries.”(Koppes, Black). This quote comes from the article What to Show the World: The Office of War Information and Hollywood by Clayton R. Koppes and Gregory D. Black. It was interesting reading about this, learning that the actual President himself was involved with Hollywood and filmmaking during the time. Although, in consideration for this film, it does not follow Roosevelt’s instructions all too well.
While the film takes place during world war, it does not change the genre of being a musical at all. While one of the main characters is in the army, and returns a hero, the audience sees nothing about the war. What is shown are soldiers on leave, newspaper headlines, and a brief image of the main character Mason in combat wear in the Pacific. While there is talk of it throughout the movie, all conversations take place back in the states where there is no war, where there is safety. There is a song about missing sweethearts and waiting for the soldiers to come back home, but in this case, they do. Quite frankly, you would barely know there was a war going on, giving all the excitement and spectacle of the musical numbers. Nothing about this film reflects what was happening with our soldiers or what was going on overseas. No villains, just a stupid man who fell in love with one woman while promised to another, and he forgot to mention it to the two. The only conflict is which girl to pick, the pretty singer or the pretty heiress/dancer, and even then, everyone knows who is getting chosen and that it will all end happily.
The purpose of this film is to entertain audiences. To have them forget about the war, to be able to relax and enjoy themselves. To give them hope that things aren’t that bad and that soon things will be good and happy again. In a way it is an illusion, implying that everything is fine and dandy wasn’t the truth and people should know better. But some people did know better and just wanted/needed an escape from it all.
Whether or not this film would have run amok with the production code at this time, if not for the war, is hard to say. It is a lighthearted film with a sweet romance, aka no hardcore violence coarse language, explicit inappropriate scenes, etc. However, some people may have been offended by some of the costumes the show girls wore during the number, as well as some lines or parts of the performances that could have been seen as innuendos.
As far as musicals go though, it was pretty good.

remember when sarah dessen, dhonielle clayton and jodi picoult all verbally assaulted a black college student for choosing for a reading group to read anti racist texts over sarah dessen’s books, and made one snarky line about how it was appropriate for teenage girls but not college students in that chosen group?

The soundtrack was hand selected almost entirely by the movie's writer, Eleanor Bergstein, during the writing process. Despite troubles with licensing, she insisted the soundtrack remain as that of her vision. And boy, did it pay off. It went on to sell 32 million copies, and has become one of the best-selling soundtrack albums of all time, just under that of The Bodyguard, 1992, And Saturday Night Fever, 1977. Note to self: only release things in the decades that end with 7. There were a couple of songs, however, that were picked during filming after concerns with wether or not they would be able to obtain the rights to certain songs. One of them being "She's Like The Wind" A single written and sung by Patrick Swayze, who plays the iconic lover-boy Johnny Castle in the film. The song was suggested by Patrick after hearing that they were looking for new music to put in the film, and they loved it! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The next might be a surprise, The final song and track that would ultimately become synonymous with the film itself, "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life" by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes. After going through hundreds of tapes the night before filming, searching for the big finale song, choreographers Kenny Ortega and Miranda Garrison (who also played Vivian in the film) decided to listen to one last tape, and you can probably take a guess at what that tape was. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Also, as an extra note, the final cut of the soundtrack that was sold doesn't actually include every song that appears in the film, they left out incredible songs like "Do You Love Me?" by The Contours, one of my favorite 60's songs of all time, "Big Girls Don't Cry" by Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, "Love Man" and "These Arms of Mine" by Otis Redding, and "Cry to Me" by Solomon Burke, just to name a handful. Please give them a listen!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Well, that concludes our dive into the soundtrack album of Dirty Dancing, I hope you enjoyed reading! We do not deserve the existence of Be My Baby. Have any extra trivia, questions, or recommendations? Leave a comment! I'll see you in the next post. Later :o]
