Console Fighting Games of 1995 - Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer
Only receiving a release outside of Japan for the Neo Geo, this came in 1995, with a Japanese only release on the Neo Geo CD. Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer was developed by Technos and published by SNK, the game is a sci-fi hero themed 2d fighting game, this is the only game in this series but adaption of it did make it to film and tv.
The game would receive a release on PlayStation in 1997, again this was a Japanese only release. Same for the PSP, PS Vita and PlayStation 3 releases, these releases were via the PSN Network only.
Drawing some characters from other past fighting games just to give some love to them because I'm tired of seeing just two or three meme games getting acknowledged.
Anyway, here is Brider from Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer
Masami Ōbari's promo art for Choujin Gakuen Gowcaizer, known as Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer outside of Japan. Developed by Technōs Japan and released by SNK into arcades on September 18, 1995. The art was used on the arcade flyer and later as the box art for the Neo Geo AES, Neo Geo CD, and PlayStation ports.
Choujin Gakuen Gowcaizer translates literally to Superman School Gowcaizer.
Technōs was working on a sequel called "High Voltage 12+1" and even had an alpha version prepared, but the company closed before it could be completed and published.
A two part anime based on the game was released in 1996, and later released on DVD in 1999 as a movie.
