#VoxPop On October 1, 1946, Vox Pop broadcast from the Kiel Opera House in St. Louis, Missouri, to highlight the World Series playoff game between the Brooklyn Dodgers and the St. Louis Cardinals that day. Outside the opera house, the marquee announced the upcoming "Vox Pop" broadcast.
The Municipal Auditorium and Opera House opened on April 21, 1934, and was located at 1400 Market Street in St. Louis. The auditorium and opera house both closed in 1991. The auditorium was demolished a year later, but the opera house survived. After a multi-million dollar renovation, the opera house reopened in 2011. It is still an active venue known as the Stifel Theatre: https://www.stifeltheatre.com

Voxpop - Vox Populi - Voice of the People
Voxpop is a character from the Transformers IDW continuities, in 2005 he was a background character who appeared once in RID issue 1 and he later appeared in the IDW 2019 continuity as a reuse of this guy’s great design and now we have a name for him, I hope Voxpop can pop off into a bigger role. but into my own version of him:
Voxpop is a Cybertronian who was born well before the reign of Sentinel Prime as the so called Chosen representative of Cybertronians but comes from a time well after Nova Prime, during a time when functionist rulers and the city states were often infighting, keeping Cybertron from going leaps and bounds through the cosmos as they usually have had. Fortunately, Voxpop was from the city state of Pellechrome, far enough inland from the Iacon-Kaon proxy wars around the sea of rust and its many archipeligos, not being burden by the functionists that often dictated the high courts of Iacon and its neighbors like Altihex, Uraya, and Praxus. However, from the same factor, Voxpop was often wondering about the world at large, even the galaxy, Vox specifically of the two minds was more curious about the greater gears of the universe and how the grand mechanism of Primus turned while the more pragmatic mind of Pop kept them more focused as apart of Cybertron due to how Cybertronians can be feared with the history of wrath that primes like Nova Prime had wrought in their wake. That was the daily for Voxpop, the two minds being divided between pragmatism and ambition, one pulling to the stars, the other wanting to be binded to the ground before they could drift away.
When the Cybertronian civil war began, Vox and Pop both agreed on the fact that they would not be of help to either side, the violence of the decepticons and the Autobots having good intentions but ultimately served to the cause that began the war in the first place even if many who instigated the violence were some of the earliest deaths in it all like Codexa who had an inability to act without the justification she could see to push for it, or Ratbat and his troubled games as soon as he left the grasp of Spector’s Kaon. Without good faith in either side, Voxpop sat idle and watched, being inspired by an Autobot radio technician by the name Blaster to pick up the aspect himself and soon Voxpop became the voice of independent cybertronians.
With every bit of good news Vox reported, Pop reported every bit of bad, especially as the exodus began with the Star Seekers, who tried their best to be a fortress to Decepticon onslaught in their independent movement, to the grasp of independent ships, autobots and decepticons with many of the millions on Cybertron’s surface leaving to the stars. Voxpop specifically left on his own with a small group of others, and by the time the Autobots began their war on Earth, every frequency in the galaxy could hear the update of every Cybertronian action from Voxpop themself, aboard an ancient titan who never made it to their destination as a frequency boost and a way to watch from afar, to give hope and despair to any who seek solace. Ultimately advocating the good fight when times get rough, just like the stories of a man who resports from the wastes of the interwebs in 2008.
.
As for me... if you want a simple character submission like this, just dm me and I am willing to do it for like 10 bucks depending on the design

Cygnus Pizza Race coming to Linux as are future games
Tumblr media
Cygnus Pizza Race multiplayer racing coming soon to Linux gaming with Windows PC. Thanks to developer Longplay Games. Due to bring the epic racer to Steam next month. Cygnus Pizza Race the arcade sci-fi local multiplayer racing game coming on February 12th. Where players compete against the computer or engage in two person, head to head, or split screen local races against your friends. Speed, accuracy, and well timed sabotage are vital to win. Naturally the Steam page does not list support for Linux gaming. But reaching out to developer Longplay produced an interesting reply.
There will absolutely be a Linux direct port. Our shop is very pro Linux. We have been testing Cygnus Pizza Race on wine during development to make sure it will port smoothly - which will be done soon after go-live. Wine on Steam currently gets pretty solid framerates. Which should only improve with a proper port. We test regularly with Ubuntu and Mandriva.
The previous game release from the studio, GYATM is available on Linux. The developer wants to continue active platform support. And going forward, "we plan to make every title we produce available for Linux if at all possible." So this is a win win for native gamers.
Cygnus Pizza Race: Season 2 Trailer
youtube
So, Cygnus Pizza Race Season 1 made it's debut on as a VoxPop exclusive in June 2020. Season 2 builds on the ten tracks and three ships of Season One. While adding even more new tracks, new ships, and music. Compete against the galaxy’s finest pizza delivery wannabes in this high speed thrill ride. Challenge and sabotage your friends in two person, arcade style head to head local races. While putting your piloting skills to the test. The Cygnus Pizza Race design will bring to some challenging tracks. Speed, accuracy, and well timed sabotage are vital if you want to be the best of the best. Likewise, Season Two builds on the ten tracks and three ships of Season One. So you can expect to see new ships and music. Cygnus Pizza Race multiplayer racing coming soon to Steam, February 12th. Due to arrive in both Linux gaming and Windows PC. Like Season One, should be priced at $3.99 USD.

🇹🇭 #Thailand Youngsters have taken to the streets to tell the current Government to "GTFO"/ "BOUR LI DEHORS". Organised and co-ordinated by University Students, this NON-STOP ongoing protest has been running for the past 4 days now unlike in #Mauritius where the peaceful march lasted for a day and then one month later, another peaceful march was carried out with a music concert at the end. The #Thai #student rally reminds us of the 1975 Mauritius Students protests which finally brought #FreeEducation to every Mauritian citizens. And most importantly, there were no Communal/Religious Divides or subtle attacks/complaints etc during those protests as the Single Goal for each Mauritian was to Make Education Free! Thailand has everyone together with a simple goal --> Bour li déhors! #BLD The rule of the game is: if you want to protest and have one single goal (#BLD) focus on that single goal, avoid a pot-pouri display of every Social Problems in the country during the protest (doing that causes the Main Goal to become diluted and lose its "strength"), get the support, confidence and understanding of everyone regardless of their ethnicity (because everyone is suffering from corruption regardless of their faith), have a detailed plan and a detailed list of things you want to see achieved, then changes start to happen. More here on the full details of the Thai Protest and their goals:https://ift.tt/2IK7Spu In short, the Thai Youngsters have one rule: Bring everyone together, Make as much Noise as possible NON-STOP, until the Corrupt ones start trembling with fear! #VoxPopuliVoxDei #VoxPop #TheLogicalMauritian 🇲🇺 #Moris #Protest #peacefulprotest #Thaiprotest

#VoxPop Rarely seen or heard beyond the live audience, the popular radio program Vox Pop invited audience members to participate in parlor games for cash prizes before each broadcast.
Before the July 19, 1943, broadcast from Edmonton, Canada, two audience members competed to win a cash prize tied to a piece of string. Host Warren Hull gave gentle guidance while Corporal James Canna and other interviewees looked on.

Super Eagles’ Morocco thrashing: Fans express disappointment -Voxpop
New Post has been published on http://blueprint.ng/super-eagles-morocco-thrashing-fans-express-disappointment-voxpop/
Super Eagles’ Morocco thrashing: Fans express disappointment -Voxpop
The home-based Super Eagles of Nigeria were on Sunday white-washed 4-nil by the Atlas Lions of Morocco in the final of 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) hosted by Morocco. PAUL OKAH speaks to a cross section of football-loving Nigerians on why the Coach Salisu Yusuf-led Super Eagles Team B lost the historic match.
We should strengthen our leagues It is very pathetic that Nigeria does not seem to get it right anytime we’re about to make history. I felt bad watching the lackluster performance of the CHAN Eagles against Morocco and I wonder how they even made it to the finals in the first place. It’s very pathetic to lose 4-nil in the final of a match, but the loss can be attributed to three factors and I will profer solutions to them. One, the boys were match rusty. Many of them had not played for a very long time and were consequently overwhelmed by their inclusion. They should feature regularly in their different clubs. Two, our local leagues lack support. Our officials prefer to sponsor only the national teams, to the detriment of local leagues. The Moroccans were better than us in all departments of the game because they have a good league. So, the Nigeria government should pull all the stops to make sure our local leagues are promoted and well equipped to compete in international competitions. Former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzo Kalu, supported Enyimba of Aba and they went ahead to win competitions all over Africa. He should be emulated. Three, the Nigerian fans only support foreign clubs or leagues and neglect our local leagues. During the match, the Moroccan fans were everywhere and their reactions were so electric that the players were spurred on. Our players were fazed because they have never played before such a crowd. So our fans should come out to the stadium on weekends to watch our local players in order to boost their psychology and morale so that they won’t be intimidated by any crowd in the future. Iheanyi Obasi, a Redeemed pastor.
It’s a terrible anticlimax I watched all the CHAN Eagles matches and was greatly impressed by their performances. However, the loss to Morocco is an anticlimax. How can you lose 4:0 at the final? It’s unheard of for a Nigerian team that was sometimes coming behind to win matches, like we did against Equatorial Guinea. The referee was somehow partial in his officiating by awarding a red card against Nigeria, thereby giving the Moroccans the advantage, but that’s not an excuse to lose 4-nil in a final competition. Musa Yahaya, a drycleaner
The coach contributed to our loss I watched the match from the beginning to the end and our performance was very poor. We only made one attempt at goal for the duration of the first half. Then in the second half, I was expecting an equalizer and early substitution for a team that needed to win, but none came. In fact, the coach contributed to our loss. He should have substituted a striker for a defender or a defensive midfielder, but he brought in another striker and left the impressive Ajiboye to pick the ball out of his net. We didn’t just play, that’s the simple truth. A red card is not an excuse for that epic disgrace. Obinna Inya, a carpenter
We don’t have any excuse to lose The Eagles tried their best to get to the final of the competition. Since the inception of the biennial tournament, this is the first time of our getting to the final. We came third in 2014, so maybe, we will win it next time. Though all the players are blaming the referee for bad officiating, especially the red card to our defender for a poor tackle, but I see no reason why we should blame him for our loss. He was fair in his officiating and the CHAN Eagles would have won if they persevered. We lost it when the players allowed the first half goal to demoralize them and the goalkeeper was obviously disappointed to pick the ball out of his net for four good times until the Moroccans got tired of scoring. Anita Nnamdi, student
We would have won on penalties My dear, don’t remind me about the match, please. I was so disappointed that I could not pick my calls the following day. I so rooted for the CHAN Eagles that I made a lot of noise on facebook about their winning the tournament for us. You can then imagine the disaster. With the goalkeeper being exposed by his defenders, it was only a matter of time for them to concede that number of goals. There was simply no attempt at goal or an effort to show that we wanted to equalize or probably win the match. I know that we would have won the match if the game ended in penalties because our goalkeeper is impressive. I watched ‘’Ajiboy’’ in 2009 when he saved four penalties against a Nigerian opponent, so he should not be blamed for the loss to Morocco. Rosemary Mbe, graduate.
I was frustrated I have not been following the matches, but I was dragged by a friend to watch the final and I was greatly disappointed when the Moroccans scored the first goal and the CHAN Eagles became demoralized, instead of seeking for an answer. The players were shambolic. The defenders were a disaster and the coaching crew should be totally overhauled. In the game of football, when there is a numerical disadvantage, the coach will prove his onions by making tactical changes that will not expose his team. But the reverse was the case with Salisu Yusuf who further disappointed Nigerians by not understanding the game and probably thought that introducing a striker will cow the Moroccans, instead of a defender to shield the exposed goalkeeper. Needless to say that I left after the third goal. You don’t come this far in a competition to lose in such a manner to the host. Farouk Ibitoye, trader

#VoxPop Parks Johnson, the host of the long-running radio quiz program Vox Pop, had an interest in sports and frequently  interviewed professional baseball players and coaches.
On one occasion away from the Vox Pop microphone, Johnson himself became a ball player. On Saturday June 7, 1941, radio commentator Lowell Thomas, who had appeared on Vox Pop earlier that year, organized a charity softball game at Griffith Stadium in Washington, DC between his “Nine Old Men” and the Statesmen, a group of players consisting of senators, representatives, and Vice-President Henry A. Wallace.
Johnson played 2nd base for the “Nine Old Men”. Johnson’s Vox Pop co-host Wally Butterworth played left field. Here, Parks Johnson and Butterworth are shown appearing with their teammate Hall of Fame pitcher Walter Johnson dressed as old farmers behind a WWDC microphone.

#VoxPop Parks Johnson, the host of the long-running radio quiz program Vox Pop, was interested in sports and frequently interviewed professional baseball players and coaches.
Broadcasting from the lobby of the RCA Building on October 1, 1938, just days before the start of the 1938 World Series, Johnson interviewed Al Schacht, former pitcher and third base coach for the Washington Senators. Here, Johnson is shown interviewing Schacht as a crowd gathers under a large "Vox Pop" banner.
Schacht pitched for the Senators from 1919 to 1921. After an injury ended his pitching career, he became a third-base coach for the team. In 1935, he became known as the "Clown Prince of Baseball" for his comedic antics during World Series and All-Star games. During World War II, he entertained American servicemen stationed in North Africa. After the war, he opened Al Schacht's Restaurant in New York City. He passed away in Waterbury, Connecticut, in 1984 at 91.
