Arum has learned patience, in his time as a trophy. He knows what he wants even before the moment Damien leaves the room, but he bites his tongue, he curls his tail around his body, he settles and resettles on his uncomfortable stone, he ignores the intervening guards as they march their thoughtless circles past him, and he waits.

(Nothing to be gained from drawing further attention to Damien's shifts. Cannot connect what Arum intends to do to Damien at all, if possible.)

Difficult to keep track of time, down here, but- Arum knows he should be reasonably safe when the shift after Damien's trades off with next. They seem to have split the day into thirds, so... he should be as far from Damien, for the sake of association, as it is possible to be.

He makes sure that he has the Janus Beast's attention, aiming his thoughts towards it until it meets his eye, until it grins that teeth-and-acid grin, waits until the guard is far enough away not to hear, and then he begins to speak to it.

Mainly HP and Carry On, but I used to write in loads of other fandoms back in the days.

I usually do because I like thanking people for their kindness. Receiving a comment usually gives me a spark of joy, so I feel like replying is the least I can do. Sometimes I get overwhelmed with a particular fic, and I end up not replying, but I still read every single comment and cherish even the ones with an emoji.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I only write happy endings, sorry.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

All of them? I've been told that some were sappy, but I genuinely can't say which are happier than others. For me they're all just as they should be.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Yes, sometimes. I used to get upset, but now I just reply with an a "write your own fic, then" or delete and move on.

Always and the emotional kind (hopefully).

I have only written one, and I've deleted it from AO3. It was a snowbaz story set at Hogwarts, so an HP crossover. I had a lot of fun writing it!

Yes, only once because I don't usually allow translations of my stories.

I have for a fest, and also did it ages ago with friends for fun.

I have quite a few that are in the planning stage but are kind of languishing at the moment. I don't want to jinx it, but there's a very angsty malepreg drarry fic that I don't think I have the heart to write (I can't put them through that much drama) and the snowbaz where Baz writes fics, because someone told me it already exists and it has shitloads of kudos, which put me off the idea because my brain went "why bother?".

16. What are your writing strengths?

No idea. Feelings? I pour a lot of them into the mix and somehow people find some kind of resonance.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Descriptions. I suck so much at describing places and things. Always have, and I do try to describe more, but I just forget to. I'm bad, I know...

I've done it, and it was a lot of fun.

Gosh, that was a million years ago. I want to say Lord of the Rings, but I am not sure.

Broken (Snowbaz, 43K, rated E) - Lady Chatterley's Lover AU, so many feelings. There's star gazing and a Simon with a fever, plus Buckle the dog. Monster (Drarry, 71k, rated E) - my first collab with the wonderful @pato-roldnart. Such an amazing experience! Featuring Veela + werewolf Draco and an extremely touch-starved Harry. Chilly Feet (Drarry, 13k, rated E) - soulmates AU with soulmarks that are not there. Draco knows so many facts and is possibly a little bit on the spectrum in this one. He's one of my very favourite Dracos. On your skin (Snowbaz, 30k, rated E) - tattoo parlour/flowershop AU that I posted before My Rosebud Boy came out, so it felt very special. I love these Simon and Baz an awful lot. Graceless Heart (Drarry, 132k, rated E) - I've recently re-read it and decided that I really like it. I poured an awful lot of myself into this fic, and it still feels quite raw, but I like how it turned out.

BOAT PARTY: IT CAN BE GOOD? PART 3

So, part 3 huh. Wow this is definitely longer than I thought. I think I'm just gonna continue this up until the point of when you choose between Lily or Aj because WOWSERS. ANYWAYS, check out the previous and following parts out below, or continue reading for more!

So we're gonna start off with the scene you get right as Episode 3 begins.

I like this scene, and I also dislike it. And those first two screenshots are why I dislike it. I don't really like people comparing or being like "oh I'm better because of x y and z" since it comes across as a little egotistical. I don't really know how I'd fix this, but maybe it'd go a little bit like:

AJ: "It's almost a bit... I don't know, it's surreal to think of someone letting you go."

Gabe: "Would you?"

AJ: "Absolutely not. I'd wanna stay and talk, even if we're a little angry. I'd never let you go."

Basically, it's the same thing, but worded in a way that doesn't make it seem like she's making Lily to be this bad person and she's much better. It's more just answering a question asked after stating something normal.

And then this next scene is the positive. I like how she's opening up to us.

Not like Bonnie who thinks she has a chance with S7 MC despite the fact that I've given her fifty shades of no.

Because there's actually something there. Chemistry. Now this is why I think the route has to be done in a way where the person you end up with isn't the one you wanted, and instead you go after "the one" during the boat party.

Because I headcannon this to be AJ and Gabe still liking each other after AJ walked when Lily stole Gabe at the end. Just like with the other LI's if you get stolen. It makes more sense this way. Of course, they were hit by the post casa amnesia that a lot of people in the game suffer (cough cough, season 2) but realistically this would be, well, realistic.

Though rather than saying "do you think something could happen between us?" I'd rather say "Do you think we could have something again? Just like the villa?"

That would be better for the whole idea I have.

Finally, the scene ends with this option. I only chose the middle one and not the top because in the game timeline, these two have supposedly never been together.

But if it knew that we had, then I'd be picking the top one, and the text would be more like-

AJ: "Do you think we could have something again? Just like the villa?"

Gabe: "I'd want that. The feelings I had for you in the villa didn't exactly go once you left. They've been... Lingering."

This whole scene ends with AJ going back into her Cabin, and Gabe saying how she hasn't felt these butterflies for a while. Which all in all is super cute, and you can just feel the romance.

These parts are getting shorter as they go, but I'm mainly trying to show you the scene and explain why it's good. Don't worry, there's probably gonna be a full recap at the end. I just wanna breakdown each part with the new LI first, and then put it all together.

Question 1: 🌍fave type of au to write?

Oooooo wowser! Well, as a phan fic writer of 2020 I've only explored a few different general and well-known AUs in my writing!

My default AU however, is modernised! If I had to give it another, more specific one, I'd give it the good ol' coffee shop AU (there's sOOO much 🇵 🇴 🇸 🇸 🇮 🇧 🇮 🇱 🇮 🇹 🇾 TOT) ! I've written that twice, and they are still in my Drafts 😂.

My current fanfic Falling Petals (just a good example, not shameless promotion (●’◡’●)ﾉ) started as a College AU!

So generally a mix! 😂

I am intrigued to write more AUs though in the future! 😉

I'm not completely sure on the differences between tropes and AUs, but I think that tropes are what *can occur* in an AU, rather than the other way around? 😂 I. E enemies to lovers can occur in a modern AU? I've just tried to look it up to confirm my theory/knowledge of it djdjdjx.

I have to say I adore tropes of : mutual pining/fighting against attraction is SO SO good cncn😂, one-sided pining, enemies to lovers, (as long as it's not creepy or overstepping consentual boundaries) teacher x student, um, sharing a bed can be a bit cliche, but if it's done with nuance and well timed amusement it can be absolutely smashing 😂. Soul mates definitely can have potential, but it can get a bit difficult to make it orgional again! ^^

For me writing it... Well I enjoy a good forbidden lover idea! Why I enjoy writing Christine and Erik so much because it has some of my favourite tropes in it! 🤗😇

The war of the dick togs: our Greatest Moral Battle

Australia’s greatest moral battle was fought on the beaches as churches sought to enforce who could swim — when they could swim — and what they could wear — the war of the dick togs.

Going to the beach only emerged as a popular leisure activity around the time of federation.

Changing into a bathing suit and plunging into the waves might seem as natural as riding a horse or kicking a ball. But in the early 1900s, Australians risked arrest for a daylight dip and ‘surf bathing’ remained a contentious issue across much of the country.

Mixed bathing

It was all about sex. A great moral battle raged across the nation.

“An abomination,” thundered Melbourne’s Archbishop Carr.

“The thin end of the wedge,” agreed Archbishop Duhig.

Not wanting to be outdone by papists, Reverend Adamson of the Methodist Conference chimed in: “Hideously immoral.”

“Cutting at the very taproot of national life,” wrote a correspondent to the Adelaide Register.

Doomsayers predicted the end of civilisation as we knew it, a descent into Sodom and Gomorrah, the destruction of traditional Christian marriage, and the wrath of a vengeful God. It’s a very slippery slope. Won’t someone think of the children!

The issue? Gender-neutral beaches, or in the parlance of the day, mixed bathing.

When the Australian colonies federated on 1 January 1901, municipal laws across much of the country prohibited swimming in the ocean during daylight hours. Numerous jurisdictions echoed section 77 of the New South Wales Police Act.

“Whosoever bathes in any part of Sydney Cove, or in any waters exposed to view from any wharf, street, public place, dwelling house in or near the said city or towns between the hours of six o’clock in the morning and eight in the evening shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding one pound.”

Men monopolised municipal beaches, bathing naked during the hours of darkness.

Increasing numbers of swimmers saw the morning session extended to 8 am. But that failed to satisfy the growing population of surf bathers. Other councils followed suit after Randwick Council legalised all-day surf bathing in December 1902. However, numerous new regulations replaced the old prohibition. Towns with big enough beaches segregated them — men here, women over there. Otherwise, councils stipulated separate times for male and female bathing.

The erections on Cottesloe Beach

Most local government authorities also banned wearing swimming costumes on the beach. Bathers had to change from daywear into swimsuits in bathing sheds, walk directly to the water with no loitering and, when they exited the waves, stride briskly back to the change rooms to change into streetwear before they sat on the sand.

In 1906, Freemantle’s Councillor Nicolas demanded: “The works committee go and look at the erections on Cottesloe beach.”

He did not refer to proud, blood-swollen penises sprouting on the sand like so many rampant sea slugs.

He spoke, of course, of dressing sheds.

Mr Nicolas thought the existing structures sufficient. However, Councillor Stevens desired the construction of mobile sheds that could be wheeled to the water’s edge. That would preclude bathers emerging from the surf and promenading across the beach with their scanty neck-to-knee bathing costumes clinging indecently to their bodies.

Predictions of a slippery slope proved prescient. Once swimmers achieved the right to bathe during daylight hours, they then agitated for gender-neutral beaches. Families wished to visit the beach as a group. They wanted to have picnics. They yearned to dip their toes in the shallows and frolic on the sand together. Few Australian women could swim, so men wished to teach their wives and daughters how to ensure their safety.

‘We told you so’, wailed the wowsers. But no one listened, so they then claimed religious discrimination. If men and women gathered willy-nilly on the shore, they whined; it would prevent good, decent, God-fearing Christians opposed to such debauchery from enjoying a day at the beach.

(And there’d be floods, fire, famine, locust plagues etc.)

No good — councils eventually surrendered to popular sentiment and desegregated the beaches, sometimes jolted into action by a spate of female drownings.

Dick togs

But wowsers, as we all know, never give up attempting to impose their beliefs on everyone else. So, they moved on to dictating dick togs. But without the dicks. Because Australia’s moral guardians insisted on swimwear designed to deny the existence of genitalia.

No camel toes or visible penis lines on Australian beaches.

Male and female swimsuits needed to cover the body from neck to knee with shoulders shrouded to the elbow and necklines no lower than two inches below the throat. A skirt of between six to twenty-four inches in length should encircle the entire waist of both men and women. Loincloths would not suffice. A belt should be worn to prevent mischievous ocean currents from dacking unsuspecting swimmers. The fabric should be black or dark blue and thick enough to avoid accentuating the outlines of the body. Not tight-fitting.

Brisbane Council, among others, required housewives to visit City Hall and take a copy of the approved pattern.

Even when Brisbane eventually allowed unskirted swimsuits, it required males 14 and over to wear a ‘V’ underneath their one-piece — a sturdy jock-style garment designed to compress the male genitalia and visually desex the male swimmer. Tucking underwear. Damn your dick togs to a fiery hell.

Beach inspectors and police checked that: “bathing costumes were not indecent or inadequate or that the material thereof was not too thin or in a proper state of repair or is, for any reason, unsuitable.”

Surf lifesaving associations, then in their infancy, complained the skirted swimsuits cost lives. Both swimmers and their rescuers risked becoming entangled in the skirts.

Scores of men rocked up to the beach in drag. They borrowed dresses and skirts from their wives, mums and sisters and camped it up to the horror of municipal authorities.

The dragged-up swimmers intimidated the wowsers en masse, but cops, clergymen and council beach inspectors waited for quieter days and picked off the dick-tog wearers one by one, fining them a shilling here and a shilling there.

Female surf bathers 

However, eventually, wowsers found easier targets. Women became enamoured of the beach, and male officialdom transferred their attention to harassing them. Until well into the 1960s, beach inspectors patrolled city beaches across Australia, armed with tape measures to check women’s bikinis complied with civic requirements.
