☆*WELCOME TO MY SPECIAL HELL*☆
☆ Hello, I'm Hugh. I'm a person who draws and plays videogames for fun, with a keen interest in analysis and psychology, and I enjoy the process of modding video game consoles. Welcome to my blog, shingetsu-online! ~.^*☆ ☆ text dividers by @cafekitsune ☆

☆*^.~ABOUT THE DUDE IN CHARGE~.^*☆
☆ My name is Hugh, though I also go by Mr. Crescendo, Shingetsu, & Hyuu. My pronouns are He/Him, and I am a transmasc agender demiboy who is gay, cinthean, demiromantic, & a sex-repulsed asexual. I'm 13 years old, so do please try to keep my boundaries in mind! I'm part of a system, and my headmates may pop up on here and make posts of their own. If you want to refer to us collectively, call us the Blue Raspberry Collective or the Moonjelly Hivemind. I am WaningCrescendo on A03, though I haven't posted anything on there yet! Please do not repost my art without permission or credit.
Tumblr media
☆*^.~INTERESTS / FANDOMS~.^*☆
☆ My major hyperfixations are in blue & bold text, so I'll post about them more often than others.
☆ GHOST TRICK: PHANTOM DETECTIVE (I've beaten the entire game on my 3ds via emulation and it both fixed me and made me worse. Live laugh Inspector Cabanela. It is my absolute favorite game PLEASE play Ghost Trick PLEASE)
☆ HOMESTAR RUNNER (I got into it in 2020 and recently got back into it when playing Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People on my Wii.)
☆ POKEMON (Generations 5, 7, 8, & 9 mostly. I also enjoy the gen 8/9 DLC campaigns. Mostly the games, though I have read a bit of PokeSpe. I do not post about the animes.)

☆ MIITOPIA (Both for Nintendo Switch & 3DS, I've played through the Switch port several times & I recently started the 3DS version!)
☆ ACE ATTORNEY (I've seen playthroughs for the entire main trilogy & the Investigations games, I am currently playing through Apollo Justice, & I have finished The Great Ace Attorney's 3DS English fan-slation, and I am trying to get the Chronicles so I can play Resolve! Don't worry about spoiler for the mainline 6 games & the Investigations games, but I am trying to play TGAA as spoiler-free as possible.)
☆ RHYTHM THIEF (I have played through the entirety of the main story! Also Charlie Vergier is transmasc & anyone who she/her's him is dead to me. /lh)
☆ RHYTHM HEAVEN & WARIOWARE (I classify these 2 together since they are heavily linked together! For Rhythm Heaven, my favorite games are Rhythm Heaven DS & Megamix, and for WarioWare, I like Smooth Moves, Move It!, Touched!, & Gold!)
☆ YOUR TURN TO DIE (I have played up to Chapter 3-1B!)
☆ THE WORLD ENDS WITH YOU (I have NEO for my Switch, I have seen the anime, and I have the original DS game via emulation!)
☆ NINTENDO CONSOLE MODDING & HOMEBREW (I have watched so many videos on 3ds modding & Homebrew applications. I have modded my New 3DS XL and I am open to any questions concerning the process! I am trying to make a custom theme for it!)
☆ COOKIE RUN (Both Kingdom & OvenBreak!)
☆ TOMODACHI LIFE (I have the game for my 3DS! I am a firm Tomodachi Life Switch Port believer!!)
☆ NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE/NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD (I have seen playthroughs!)
☆ GUILTY GEAR (I don't post much about it anymore, sadly. I just really like Bedman.)
☆ SPLATOON (I have 2, Octo Expansion, & 3. I am working on getting the DLCs soon!)
☆ ONE PIECE (I just watch the anime, & I've been stuck on the Water 7 arc for months now. I know most of the spoilers, so I don't mind.)
☆ PROJECT SEKAI (I haven't played since November or so, I just post about Wonderlands X Showtime & RuiKasa a lot. It's just mostly Tsukasa Tenma.)
☆ ALIEN STAGE (Nothing much to say, I've seen up to Round 6 & I just really like Luka's Sweet Dream cover & Hyuna in general. Oh yeah & IvanTill.)
☆ HAIKYUU!! (My friend dragged me into the Haikyuu!! hellhole. I'm very early in the show, & I mainly just dub over it with my friends for fun.)
☆ SUPER MARIO BROS. SERIES (I pretty much grew up on NSMBWii. I also like Paper Mario Color Splash, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, & Super Mario 3D World, though I've only seen playthoughs for Color Splash & 3D World. I'm playing Bowser's Inside Story!)
☆ THERE IS NO GAME (I have played Wrong Dimension & the original Construct Jam entry!)

☆*^.~THINGS TO KNOW~.^*☆
☆ Hey!! Here are some things to be aware of when interacting with me, so keep these in mind if you can!!
☆ I have a poor memory, but I'll try my best to remember things like when to use tone indicators or people's preferred pronouns.
☆ Please do not send me any interactions regarding/revolving around Friday Night Funkin'. It is incredibly triggering for me, and I would prefer it if you do NOT talk to me about it.
☆ Please don't send weird asks. Seriously, please be normal about this. I'm a freaking minor.
☆ Please don't advertise stuff in my inbox either. It's become a huge problem and it bothers me a lot.
☆ I block people freely, meaning that if they post a lot of something I'm uncomfortable with, I'll block them.
☆ Although I'm a sex-repulsed ace, I make sexual jokes from time to time, but it's usually just something like "that's what she said", penis jokes, or something similar.
☆ I have poor anger management, and I snap easily, so be wary.
☆ I try to avoid mention of politics as much as I can.
☆ I'm protective of headcanons so much to the point where it gets annoying FAST. That being said, most headcanons of mine align with my own identity, such as Crispin from Pokemon being gay and transmasc. However, I'm NOT going to attack people because my headcanons don't align with theirs and vice versa.
☆ That being said, I post a lot of shippy stuff, mostly revolving around said headcanons.
☆ I ship OC x Canon. Don't like it? Feel free to block me and move on.
☆ I'm in a system, and occasionally, one of my headmates will post on here instead of their own blog / our system blog, so if something seems different with me, just know that it's one of my headmates posting or goofing off.
Tumblr media

warioware styled text gifs tutorial
making this cuz someone on art fight asked me how i made these. feel free to ignore
STEP 1
download a font. the one i used was WarioWare Original !
STEP 2
its not required but its highly recommended you get Aseprite if you dont have it already! its a powerful tool for sprite animation. if you dont have the money for it though you can always use browser based sprite animation tools like Piskel ! you can also use regular art software and export the frames separately if you wish.
STEP 3
in whatever program youre using type out what word(s) you want your gif to have! the text size for the crispiest pixels is 15. once its typed out space each letter apart so that theres 2 pixels of empty space between each letter, like so:
Tumblr media
STEP 4
after spacing them out, add the outline. warioware used sharp edged outlines, so dont leave out the corners!
Tumblr media
STEP 5
now we'll apply the shading to the bottom of the letters. i dont have the exact colors but the ones i used are #dbdbdb (219, 219, 219) and #bfbfbf (191, 191, 191). these colors can also be changed if youd rather use a red or something, but keep in mind theyre very light colors. examples of this can be seen in my art fight global character perms!
Tumblr media
STEP 6
this next part isnt required but unless you like redrawing the same pixels over and over then go ahead and move every other letter to a second layer! this is because during the animation, the letter's outlines will overlap each other so its best to make another layer so you wont have to redraw them
Tumblr media
STEP 7
here's where we begin animating! the animation starts with the first letter moving up and the rest of the letters following suit, one after the other. this animation is 5 frames long so it wont be terribly long of a process. on the first frame move your first letter up by one pixel:
Tumblr media
STEP 8
leading off from the previous frame, for the 2ND FRAME move it one pixel to the left. after that, for the 3RD FRAME, move it down two pixels. for the 4TH FRAME, move it one pixel to the right. lastly, for the 5TH FRAME, its position will remain unchanged from where it started, as seen in the 3rd image in this tutorial.
2nd frame:
Tumblr media
3rd frame:
Tumblr media
4th frame:
Tumblr media
if done correctly it should look like this so far:
Tumblr media
STEP 9
now, do the same thing to all the other letters, but remember to keep their movements one frame off from the previous letter (i.e. if the first letter moves up on the first frame, then the second letter moves up on the second frame, and then the third letter will move up on the third frame, and so on). if done correctly it will look like this:
Tumblr media
STEP 10
the finishing touches! the speed i use for these animations is 50ms/frame or 20fps. to make these gifs larger without them looking like complete ass i upscale them using the "nearest neighbor" method. its best enlarge by values of 100 (200%, 300%, etc.)
Tumblr media
FINISHING RESULT
Tumblr media
here's what the final gif should look like if everything was done correctly, but youre free to change anything about this too. this is just a guide on how i personally make these gifs. if youre wanting to make shaky text like in WarioWare, inc. and WarioWare: Twisted!, its not really something i can describe well enough to make a post about. my best advice would be to use VisualBoy Advance, open a Mega Microgame$! ROM, and use the next frame tool to look at how each letter shakes individually. anyway thats all! hope youll find this useful!

✨Top 10 Games of 2023✨
It’s time for my annual list. As usual, these are games I played this year, not that came out this year. So despite all the hits this year, don’t expect to see many of them!
10. Fire Emblem Engage
While I was wary of the new character designs and anniversary excuse-story, Engage turned out to be more enjoyable than I expected. Not my favorite Fire Emblem, but a good one nevertheless.
9. Paradise Killer
What *style*! I went and bought this game immediately after my friend showed me the song “Paradise (Stay Forever).” Going in blind was wild. I sure didn’t expect the protagonist to be part of an extra-dimensional cult. I love exploring the vaporwave island.
8. WarioWare: Move It!
A worthy successor to Smooth Moves. While the amount of extra context seems oddly lacking for a WarioWare game, I love all the creative uses for the joycons. With the major exception of Jimmy’s boss minigame, everything works shockingly well.
7. Super Mario RPG
I debated where to place this. On one hand, I don’t feel like the remake added too much. The QoL improvements are nice, but the SNES original is still perfectly playable. It’s also quite short for an RPG, and on the easy side. But it’s just so charming anyway.
6. Darkstalkers 3
AKA Vampire Savior, not to be confused with another game. On the quest to capture the magic Third Strike had for me, this comes pretty close. If only I could find online matches now.
5. Suika Game
I had to see what the hype’s about, and I understood. So simple and cute, yet challenging. A great way to kill a few minutes.
4. Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp
I held off on this for a while, since I have both original games, and it didn’t seem like much was changed. The QoL improvements have been nice, though, such as speeding up the CPU’s turns. Most importantly, it no longer cheats during Fog of War, so you can actually strategize as intended instead of cheesing certain maps.
3. It Takes Two
Playing this co-op game with my brother was a blast. Solving puzzles through teamwork is a satisfying joy, and I’d love to play again as the other character sometime.
2. Vampire Survivors
So addicting. It was hilarious to find out the dev works on slot machines. Now it’s quite clear that they know all the right bells and whistles to set that dopamine off.
1. Monster Girls and the Mysterious Adventure 2
It’s incredible when you can feel the amount of love poured into the development of a game. I picked up this solo-dev passion project thinking it’d be a cute little indie game. I didn’t expect it to be my favorite mystery dungeon experience.
Everything from the writing and QoL features show how clearly the dev loves this genre and wants to make the best version of it. The balance is wonky, some of the recruitment requirements are questionably difficult, and the English translation is extremely rough, but I can’t help but be charmed by the whole package anyway. I’ve put in around 50 hours getting to the “final” boss of the story, and there’s still a massive postgame dungeon. I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone, but for fans of mystery dungeon games, absolutely.

Super Smash Bros. Is Not Canon And Is Unreliable For Mario Lore P3
Part 2 Continuing on from where we last left off. So the in game portrayals of the Mario characters differs significantly from their portrayals in the Mario canon. I will be using Brawl as my example for this. So in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and other Smash games Wario is wearing his WarioWare outifit. I bring this up because this outfit Wario only uses for when he's doing a WarioWare thing. But when Wario does something like adventuring, giving trouble for Mario, or partaking in an event he dawns the iconic outfit we all know and love. Next is Wario is Brawl's story mode takes on an active villain role something he doesn't really do in games. While Wario is a trouble maker, anti hero, and will work with Bowser to disrupt a Tennis tournament. Ultimately he is not a villain and has even if for self means has done heroic stuff, and even going as far to help rescue the Princess.
The next the one of Peach's moves. This move is where Peach uses a Toad as a shield, this is something Peach in the Mario games would not do. Such a move is out of character for Peach. Now while Ultimate does have the Toad aid Peach, this is still part of her move set from earlier entries nonetheless. Let alone a Toad that could easily be interpreted as the Toad who is a close friend of her's. Next is the scene where Mario and Yoshi fight, and this wouldn't work if this was the canon version of these characters. Yoshi is Mario's buddy as established in the Mario Canon, and it would make little sense for him to fight Mario. Also, no incorrect hypotheses about Mario hitting Yoshi or dropping Yoshi off a cliff does not serve as a motive for this either. Also, it doesn't make sense for Mario to fight his buddy or to simply leap into a fight like he does in the Brawl scene. For further explanation on why read this post.
Finally Bowser in Smash Bros acts more like a beast than his potrayal in the Mario Canon. Also, when if comes to working with Ganon in Brawl there is no signs of Bowser trying to place himself at the head or upstage Ganon like he even does with an alternate version of himself. In games while Bowser will team up with others Wario and Waluigi, it's under the conditions they are working for him. While with Mario Bowser tells himself it's Mario who is working for him. While any actual villains who steal Bowser's spotlight he will try to pummel. There is also the form Giga Bowser which Bowser has never taken on in the Mario Canon. With closest being Fury Bowser which is not an actual actual form of Bowser nor is he in control of it. There is also this information from Sakurai about Giga Bowser. "The old Bowser was scary. In the NES era, characters were more symbolic, so you had room to use your imagination. When I looked at the original Bowser, I saw a frenzied, terrifying monster. But, advancements in technology have allowed designers to convey characters in greater detail, and in recent games his image has steadily become cuter. Naturally, this is a current game, so it needs to use his current design. And from there, Giga Bowser (unexpectedly?) happened to come into existence. Bowser and Giga Bowser are definitely separate characters, though." This further shows a difference in the Smash Bros version and Mario Canon version of Bowser. Also, this quote is often misused by others to says Sakurai hates the Canon version of Bowser. The quote does not say this at all. The quote can be found on the Source Gaming website on the page titled The Definitive Unused Fighters List in Smash – Source Translations.

Note
1 4 and 15 😊😊😁
1. What WarioWare games have you played? (And do you have favourites?)
I've played Mega Microgame$, Touched, Smooth Moves, D.I.Y, Gold, Get it Together and Move It!
I own Game & Wario, I just need to find my gamepad charger to finally play it. And I'm currently searching for physical copies of Mega Party Game$ & Twisted to go on my Wario shelf!
I think Get it Together & Move It are my current favourites - I love the gameplay of GiT, but the cutscenes & storyline for Move It are my favourite (the gameplay for MI can be very tiring for me since I suffer from chronic pains - so I find it harder to pick up & play than GiT)
4. Do you have any personal headcanons or interpretations of the characters? (In relation to design, hobbies, connections to other characters, etc)
Ohhh boy, do I! I'll mainly keep it to general headcanons I have and only to 2-3 per character, also not doing EVERY character in this since if I delve too far into it it'll be a whole essay. Most of these hcs are for canon and Diverged, btw.
(If someone wants me to share more or hear about the others, just ask me this question again! Or ask about a character directly)
Wario speaks german fluently, and was born & raised on a farm. Often crashed at Jimmy's house when they were kids/teenagers
Lulu owns a dog, and stays with Mona when she's visiting.
Cricket has social anxiety, and works part time as a waiter when he's older
Mona runs the company's social media accounts, and she sees Ashley and Lulu as little sisters to her
Ashley has solar urticaria (allergic to sunlight) and the stuffed bunny she owns, she's had since she was born
Crygor is disabled, having prosthetics for his left arm & right leg (I don't see them as power gloves n stuff. They've always been prostheses to me) - he has autism & adhd, and his dancing are a type of stim
(Not gonna say it for the rest of the Crygor family, but they're all neurodivergent to mee + quite a few of the others. Like Orbulon-)
Mike falls asleep cuddling his microphones, he has a phobia of insects and he idolises Jimmy
Orbulon is an artist - uses painting & sketching to connect further with human culture. His species speaks telepathically which is why he struggles so much with talking verbally, and he has a fear of yelling/conflict
15. If you've played Gold, which microgame type is your favourite? (Mash, twist or touch)
Touch! I have a faster reaction time visually. I have a score of 100+ on Orby's level in that game

Nintendo Direct For 9/14/2023
So, there was a Nintendo Direct on 9/14/2023 and I just want to talk about it a little bit here. Now, please keep in mind that this is all just MY OPINION on the direct and that will probably differ from yours and that is perfectly okay.
My thing with Nintendo Directs as of late is that while they are 40-45 minutes long, really only 10-15 minutes of it is spent on actual first party Nintendo games and I feel like that needs to change. But, here are the first party Nintendo games and DLC mentioned in this direct.
Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC: I don't play Splatoon at all so I don't really care about this.
Mario VS Donkey: This is actually a remake of the game of the same title from the Gameboy Advance. Couldn't care less about this.
Super Mario RPG: A remake of the 1996 game Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Couldn't care less about this one.
Princess Peach: Showtime: I won't be buying this one but at least it isn't a remake of an already existing game.
Detective Pikachu Returns: This is the only game from this ENTIRE direct that I care about and I already knew about it ahead of watching the direct. Will definitely be buying this.
Luigi's Mansion 2 HD: An HD remake of the game of the same name on the Nintendo 3DS. Pass.
WarioWare: Move It: I don't care in the slightest for WarioWare game but, again, at least it isn't another remake.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 6: All they talked about was the additional characters that will be in it with zero mention of what new tracks will be in it. I have this DLC so I'll obviously be getting it.
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door: Oh look, ANOTHER FUCKING REMAKE of a game of the same name from the GameCube.
So out of the seven first party Nintendo games that were mentioned in the direct, four of them are remakes and that makes this direct, in my opinion, much worse than previous ones when I, again, say that the first party games really only took up like, at most, 15 minutes of the whole 42 minute direct. Don't believe me? Here's ALL the other games talked about in this direct:
Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown
Horizon Chase 2
Super Crazy Rhythm Castle
Spy X Anya: Operation Memories
Another Code-Recollection
SaGa Emerald Beyond
Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered
Trombone Champ
Battle Crush
Wartales
Contra: Operation Galuga
Unicorn Overlord
Bandle Tale: A League Of Legends Story
Song Of Nunu: A League Of Legends Story
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes
Eastward: Octopia
Wargroove 2
Dave The Diver
Among Us
Do you see what I mean now? That is a total of 19 3rd party games versus the seven first part games mentioned in this direct. The only game I do plan on getting is Detective Pikachu Returns and that is it. I don't care about the other remakes and I don't care about the millions of stupid JRPG games and 3rd party games releasing on Switch that are already on every other console and PC. Again, this is just my feelings about the recent Nintendo Direct.

#365DaydOfVGM Day 122:
Jonathan Veckley & ??? - Body Rock (WarioWare D.I.Y/WarioWare: Do It Yourself; English versions, including the WarioWare Gold version [2010/2018])
Although the DS original is obviously impressive as both a vocal song on the handheld as well as playing over minigames in Jimmy’s singleplayer gamemode in an impressive display of being able to juggle many different sounds simultaneously, the Gold version is basically the same track uncompressed, just without the DS version’s intro and outro sections; you’ve got the whim to pick your preferred version!
Beyond those exciting workout-themed vocals, it’s the fun Horns and consistently cool Bass, both varying in length at different intervals that make this song feel alive! And when it’s time to show you all its fine moves, it sure does with that extra Synth to show for it! I hear the lyrics playin’, do you feel the fine grooves?: https://www.mariowiki.com/Body_Rock
As you might be able to tell, this is one of those cases where I “prefer dub over sub”, original intent be damned. Luckily, it’s easy to explain myself here: I don’t like how the lyrics of the original Japanese version, “Charming Bodyline”, have blatant body shaming in them, so the sub isn’t included in my favorites or this list either.
Here’s my obligatory “play this game” part of the description, this time between D.I.Y and Gold; the former gives you the freedom to create your own microgames on top of the stellar selection the original game already has, while the latter is a combination game of sorts via a specific selection of microgames from across the whole series, with some of its own new microgames thrown in too. At this point, who hasn’t heard the appeal of WarioWare’s breakneck pacing? It’s so good that once you start, you’ll never wanna stop!... probably
(Length before loop [Both]: 2+ minutes)

Finished up WarioWare: Move It! Very fun game. It truly does run with being a sequel to Smooth Moves, and that is almost entirely a good thing. It lacks the extra "content" of capsule machines in Gold and character leveling up in Get It Together, but I don't miss it haha. It's just as much WarioWare as I like.
The motion control works really well for the most part. There are games where it feels at odds with the pace - in particular, games that ask you to hold up a number of fingers in the IR camera aren't precise enough with the rapid pace of the game at times. Interestingly, the story mode seems to admit this and has a "second chance" that triggers if you fail when you are doing through the level for the first boss completion. And it can trigger multiple times. I'm not mad about it tbh, though I wouldn't have missed ift if it weren't here either, I think. No harm in helping players through, though! That way they get more microgames faster, which is ultimately the point haha.
What's really interesting to me is how much the game seems to want to be a VR game. Multiple microgames feel like they would work better in VR with its precise hand tracking, and while the approximation of that with the Joycons works frankly way better than it has any right to, I can't help but be curious about the future as well. Nintendo has already dabbled very lightly in VR with the Labo kit, things like this make me wonder if the Switch 2 will have a higher resolution screen with the express purpose of VR support. We'll have to see!

Alright, you know the drill; Nintendo Direct review time, baybeeeee!
Splatoon 3 Side Order DLC: "Why is everything chrome?" "EVERYTHING is chrome in the future!"
Mario vs Donkey Kong: So... a minis game without the minis?
Prince of Persia - The Lost Crown: Oh yeah, Prince of Persia is a thing!
Horizon Chase 2: It looks fine
Super Crazy Rhythm Castle: Huh... Konami doing something
SpyXAnya: Am I the only one who doesn't give a shit about Spy x Family?
Super Mario RPG: People who have played Mario RPG (So not me): "You're as beautiful as the day I lost you..."
Another Code Two Memories: Alright
Princess Peach Showtime: It's cool to see Peach get her own time to shine
SaGa Emerald Beyond: It looks fine
Tomb Raider Remastered: Aw come on, man! where are my close to one-polygon tits now?
Detective Pikachu Returns: Holy shit, Luxray has X-ray vision? I guess that's one more reasont to add to why Shinx is my favorite Pokemon
Trombone Champ: "Ah... the return of Wii Music... WITH A VENGEANCE!"
Battle Crush: It looks fine
Wartales: It looks fine
Contra Operation Galuga: Oh yeah, Contra is a thing!
Unicorn Overlord: Well that title doesn't fit (It looks fine)
Luigi's Mansion 2 HD: So no "Dark Moon" in the title? (Smashes phone and stomps skateboard)
Nintendo Museum: Huh... neat
New Amiibo: It's about damn time Sora got here
F-Zero 99: I guarantee that no matter how small this may be, F-Zero fans will gobble this up. Eat well, you starved racers
Bandle Tale: Okay
Song of Nunu: Okay (Part 2)
Warioware Move It: Man, the new Wario voice is gonna take some getting used to
Eiyuden Chronicles: it looks fine
Eastward Octopia: It looks fine
Wargroove 2: So you're telling me the series is called "Wargroove" but doesn't involve people busting down and cutting a rug in the middle of a live battle? 0/10 terrible game
Dave the Diver: ...okay
MK8D Booster Course Pass Wave 6: Really? Daisy Circuit? That's what you're leading with? (But Diddy, Funky, and Pauline are cool, tho)
Among Us: FUNGUS AMOGUS FUNGUS AMOGUS FUNGUS AMOGUS
Thousand Year Door Remake: Y'know, I'd probably be more cool with this if Thousand Year Door fans didn't keep kicking other Paper Mario games in the dick and sucking its own games dick
And that's about it. Maybe later today I'll give my thoughts on the State of Play. But until then, I've gotta get back to bopping to Discordant Decipher.
