oh okay heres one:

"sleepaway camp"= you go there for at least a few days, a week, sometimes several weeks, and sleep there, as opposed to a """camp""" where you go for the day and your parents or whoever picks you up afterward (those arent really camps, but like. idk when i went to "space camp" it was a weeklong but not sleepaway). in the U.S. at least, the typical image of a sleepaway camp involves staying in cabins, dunno how common it is/what it looks like in other countries.

for the first few i just mean like. not necessarily a stealth church camp, just like. idk, a camp where theres also an Assumption Of Christianity and just general vibes without being actually church camp. So, there might not be daily services and jesusy dedicatwd activities, but maybe theres still a prayer said over meals and shit. Which i assume might exist...

Not to start shit, if you know me you know I'm a "ship and let ship" kinda gal and saying this I truly have no problem with James/Orla as a ship it harms no one and plenty of people like it, I like people having fun... that said...

I have never understood the common argument that James/Erin as a ship makes no sense and James/Orla should have been the ship instead. Often one of the arguments is that James/Erin wasn't set up while James/Orla was and I'm sorry... what? James/Erin have at least one ship heavy episode each season as well as plenty of background moments and several significant moments in Erin's Diary.

Even if you ignore all the background moments of the two holding hands, being inside each others personal space, the times where they're clearly matching and whatnot. There is at LEAST the implication that Erin would ignore her supposed crush for James, that she cares what he thinks, that Erin is James's type, that they're aligned in creative values and match each others energies, that Erin thinks he's handsome, that James thinks she's beautiful, that she can't imagine her life without him, etc.

James/Orla have some touchy moments... that's kinda all they have as far as romantic coding and I don't see how those two hugging in the Season 2 finale is somehow more significant than what setup James/Erin have throughout all the seasons.

Honestly, while I can see Orla liking James - you could build a case for it and convince me even though I see Orla as ace/aro in my own personal headcanons... no one has ever been able to give me a convincing argument for James liking Orla back. It kinda feels like you have to ignore that he never has a reason to fancy Orla back and just project onto him that.

Which, again, go off if that's your bag I think their friendship is fun and I could see making a ship out of it, but the common argument is that the SHOW makes a better case for James/Orla and like, no? No it really doesn't? It's just not main girl/main boy and some people really don't like that trope or Erin as a main and I think that if you say the show didn't set up James/Erin well and you argue the show would have been better with James/Orla based on what's in the show, you just might not like Erin very much?

I've also never been able to make sense of the argument that James/Erin is somehow the trope that 'guys and girls can't just be friends' like, is that not also James/Orla? Y'know, besides that Orla isn't a girl. They do use she/her during the show time period though and some people who argue this think Orla is a girl, they just think they're not THE girl. So somehow it's better even though it's the same thing.

Basically what I'm saying is that shipping is fun and we all oughta do it. Every ship besides the obvious ones is potentially fun and I'm down for it, but there is one ship the show was setting up and we all know what that ship was and I think it would be better if we all were honest about it.

PS: "James was gay the whole time!" Truthers, if you made it through this post somehow I'd like to offer a compromise: James Maguire is the most bisexual coded male character in media history we can all win here.

a work friend hosted a board game night last evening, and invited one guy who was not from our work friend group

and he was such a 'you must be fun at parties' guy

it was so fucking annoying

like the games were simple, we were not super invested, and it was more about the fun, and he was just constantly trying to be super firm on the rules

we ended up being too many people for normal games, so we did this 'you have a thing written on the forehead and have to guess what it is' game and he was constantly shutting people down if they were 'rephrase the question' or answered on misleading ways (e.g. one was a fictional character who is alive in canon, and when the person asked 'am i alive' he said no, because technically a fictional character is not alive)

when it was his turn to ask about himself he asked the weirdest fucking questions ('am I a noun', 'am i in visual-audio media') ibstead of just asking 'am i a person' or whatever

he literally was at a borgame night with people either doing or already having a phd and tried to be the smartest person in the room it was so frustrating holy shit

first week back at school and ahhhhhh everything is a little overwhelming currently

- my living space is full of boxes i have simply not had the energy to unpack at all.... hopefully this weekend (but i have also been invited to a Social Event so WE SHALL SEE)

- this school year is going to have So Much Important Stuff happening inbetween the many weeks of practice placement

- such as The Academic Text

- AND i need to finish the big project i was supposed to have finished ages ago

- our teacher this year speaks swedish with a very thick french accent and i speak norwegian with a dialect, we really struggle to understand one another but maybe hopefully that will change over time.... please...........

- i'm stressed about Stupid Bureaucracy Stuff

- and im so so sleepytired :(((

- and it's too humid and warm for comfort :(((((

I’ve been so behind while I was in LA, but I finally caught up, and I’m still feeling mixed about who I like, but I’m glad they voted Matt out, but Kenney is the more annoying one to me, he should have just self-evicted since he wanted to throw his game for Matt.

Also I’m so glad this cast has brains it’s honestly so refreshing, this season actually is entertaining, and I hope it continues to be, the only downside of Matt leaving is less drama, but MJ + Matt ship would have actually drove me insane, I’m glad we’ll never have to see that 🥰

This definitely should be the last month we have to do this bc my roommate and I just both started new higher paying jobs, but neither of us is going to get paid by those new jobs until the 13th and rent is. Due.

My parents are helping us with a thousand dollars but rent is $1550 and between us we have about $30 (some of which unfortunately has to go to transit to said new jobs) so. Once again, anything helps. We need about $600 total

In collaboration with @the-zenith-calls and @tecceran , I present The Magnus Archives themed Clue!! We spent several hours over the course of a couple weeks working on this, and play tested it properly for the first time last night. Check out both of their blogs for details of what they made (when theirs are posted I will link them here and here as well), and below the cut I will be putting details of my contributions :]

Firstly, the weapons tokens. These were just cut out of cardboard in the style of the tokens that are included in my Star Wars Clue set

I was also responsible for room cards! Of these, Jon’s Office and the Archives are my favorites

We also have varying hallway cards, based on a mechanic in my Star Wars Clue, again.

The backs of the cards had to get covered somehow because markers bleed, so the hallway cards are plain black and the other cards have eye designs on them

I also formatted and printed out detective note sheets and an Instructions booklet! Details on the instruction booklet will end up in a reblog because I'm running out of images oops. Most of the instructions are just copied word for word from my Clue set instructions, with some alterations made, except for completely made up mechanics, which the-zenith-calls wrote and I reworded if necessary and formatted nicely.
