Another addition to the mural on our living room walls!
The man in the yellow hat(From curious george) is being auctioned by the goblin slavetrader(From Courtney Crumrin), and the crowd consists of: Shadow weaver(She-ra), The white witch(Narnia books), Aster(The witch boy), Pearlecscentmoon(Double life), Ivy(Ivy and Bean), Rosethorn(Circle of magic), and Phoebe and Marigold(Phoebe and her unicorn).
This is meant to be all the sorta witch-y characters, just for funsies. I really like how Rosethorn's expression came out, just because she looks fuckin pissed, and just disappointed with everyone here. I was going for an expression that says 'I'm going to have to clean this up, aren't I?'.
Yeah, this isn't my best work in existance, but it was done in paint(which I'm bad at) and at very small scale, so you're gonna have to forgive me.
Click for better quality, as per usual.

If you’re speed-reading to get through a pretty mediocre book for your book club and you’re more or less skipping every third word, you too can unlock something called ‘the penis that lives underneath Halldor’s shirt’

A few years ago when I first started on tumblr, I came across this post https://www.tumblr.com/tysaescorner/719479862700670976/stellawitchcraft-ive-been-meaning-to-make-some?source=share by @stellawitchcraft and I remember thinking to myself, “man, that is so neat and such a great idea! especially if one is always on the go or lacking the physical space for their altar.” Needless to say, it left a huge impact on me.
Recently-ish, it crossed my feed again when I wanted to create a #Pathway altar for my personal practice--because it dawned on me that since I’m also an artist, I could just DRAW it and use it--and I was reinspired! For me, I wanted to include all 6 elements, and all 13 solar signs. I also added my art for one of my water spirits, as well as how Venus came to me in meditation a month or so ago.
SO. Here are my digital sketchbook altars (the one in my sketchbook is currently in use). May you find inspiration everywhere!

My Tears Are Becoming a Sea

Azriel x Fem!Reader
Summary - Azriel wished that you’d wake up in time for Starfall, that you’d be home to see the souls cross the sky. The war against Hybern had wrecked you, and he couldn’t bear to be away from you for another moment.
Warnings - angst, sad boy Azriel, mentions of death and blood, some self loathing, but a beautiful happy ending for our Shadowsinger 🤍
Tumblr media
They'd won.
But none of it meant anything if you weren't there with them.
Hybern had been defeated, they had won the impossible battle thanks to you, thanks to your skill, your power, and that shattering determination to find the upper hand your family so desperately needed.
You had disappeared without a word just after the High Lords meeting, after realising that the forces you needed lay beyond the capabilities of armies and blind hope. Azriel knew better than to stop you, he traced the line of your jaw as he kissed you for what could have been the last time. He savoured the taste of your lips, your scent, that smile that had the power to command the attention of anyone or anything.
There were no words that any of them could say the moment they saw you on the battlefield, you stood above them clad in your leathers wearing a sadistic grin as Bryaxis and the Weaver stalked from behind you whilst they all waited to meet their fate.
Azriel puffed his chest out with pride, glancing to Cassian with a smirk. That's my girl.
You were a formidable force, bending the elements around you like it was your mother tongue, sending spears of fire and ice through the chests of whoever opposed you, allowing the ground to swallow whole groups of soldiers as you passed by. Your sword was an extension of your soul, a cunningly beautiful thing, curved and sharp, and coated in the blood of your enemies which had also splashed across your cheeks.
His shadows were in awe of you, a horribly fierce awe as they watched you cut down man after man, paying little mind to anything else other than making sure that Feyre and Amren reached the cauldron.
That wretched thing.
The cauldron had broken. Feyre needed to put it back together. Feyre needed the power to put it back together.
Azriel watched as you tackled Rhys to the ground, as you threw up a shield around yourself and Feyre so that she had no choice but to use you. To take everything you had to stop the world from crumbling into dust.
Feyre had wept and screamed as she held you in her arms, her fingers pushing the hair from your face as she rocked back and forth, begging your soul to return to your body. Azriel fell to your side and pulled you from Feyre's gasp, his shadows flittered anxiously over your face and body whilst their master pressed his lips to your eyes, pleading the High Lords around him to do what they did for Feyre, to bring you back to him.
Each High Lord offered a kernel of their power, even Feyre had thrown in her own in hope it would made a difference.
Rhys had held him tightly as your soul returned to your body, his sobs wracked his chest when your own began to rise and fall in a healthy rhythm. You didn't wake though.
After days of Madja fussing over you, she had exhausted all of her options. You were warm, your heartbeat was strong and your lungs were functioning as they should be, there was no reason why you shouldn't have been awake and telling Azriel how much you loved him.
He had refused to leave you, his shadows less willing to do so, they loved you so dearly to the point you often found a couple of rogue shadows perching on your own shoulder instead of your mates. Deep circles clung to his hazel eyes that were dark and dreary, he hadn't eaten, he just sat beside your cot and held your hand, noting how peaceful you looked in your eternal slumber.
Much to his rage, it had been decided that Helion would transport you to the Day Court with the promise that his army of healers and researchers would find a way to bring you back. Rhys had agreed, willing to try anything to bring you back to your family, and had to order Azriel to stay away from you whilst Helion gave it his best shot. They couldn't have a grief stricken Illyrian forbidding anyone to touch you.
Velaris felt empty without you. The bakeries were far too full and the children too quiet. The Sidra begged for your fingers to run through her ripples, to caress her with that power that complimented her own so perfectly.
The world just felt darker without you annoying them, prodding Cassian with stupid jokes or dragging Mor dress shopping, even Amren was missing your feet propped on her lap whilst she tried to research, and Nesta yearned for your intelligent observations on the plot holes and desires for the books you shared.
Feyre had become a shell, busying herself with preparations for Starfall so that she would forget how guilty she felt for a moment.
Starfall was your favourite thing in the world, nothing bar Azriel could bring so much joy to you. The music, beautiful outfits and food were just minor aspects in comparison to the main event, when those stars would hurtle across the sky and illuminate it with that hot white glow.
Azriel had always found himself stood behind you, arms wrapped tightly around your waist and chin resting atop your head as you both watched in awe. It never ceased to amaze either of you.
This year was different. No amount of flowers or pastries could distract anyone from the fact that you weren't there. He should have stopped you, gotten to you quicker before you could attack Rhys and take his place; you should have just let Rhys give his power, he would have recovered quicker, everything would have been fine.
Mor had tried to get Azriel to dance, but he didn't want to dance with anyone who wasn't you. All he wanted to do was go back to your shared room and wrap himself in your scent so he could dream of you, the only place you were alive and chatting idly about some random fact you'd found in a book that sent your mind spiralling into balanced wonder.
"She wouldn't want you to stand on the side lines, Az," Cassian clapped his shoulder, trying to coax his brother to partake in something this Starfall, for you.
Gasps echoed about the room, a sign that the main event had begun. Usually, you'd be jumping up and down in your spot with excitement, clutching to his fingers as you dragged him from the room and out to the private balcony you had both made yours.
Males and females floated out of the arched doorways, but Azriel stayed behind, not being able to think of witnessing a single Starfall without you.
Burying his hands deep into the pockets of his black pants, Azriel moved in the opposite direction to the enthralled crowd, not being able to stomach even pretending to be happy. With no particular place in mind, Azriel walked, down winding hallways and up a set of steps, along the arched walls until he fell into place in front of a set of familiar doors.
Doors that you had practically torn the handles from one year from the sheer uncontrollable excitement to get outside before either of you missed it.
Azriel sighed, wiping the corners of his eyes, he sniffled softly as he took the handle in his scarred fingers, feeling electricity pouring through it, so intense that he had to pull away with a frown. He stood there for a moment, unsure and bewildered by the sensation.
Then he felt it.
He felt the familiar scent flood where he stood, the shadows reacted quickly, darting to the handle and dancing over the door, fighting for it to be opened.
It couldn't be. Helion would have told them if you had awoken.
It couldn't be.
Azriel flung the doors open and his shadows surged forward, there you stood, your back to him, dressed in Day Court gold with a solid gold halo encasing a full braided bun. The shadows reached you first and you giggled as they kissed every inch of your face, and gods, did that sound have him melting into a blubbering mess.
You turned to him, your mate, and opened your arms to him, ones that he gladly stepped in to. Azriel wrapped his arms around your waist, he ran his fingers over your skin, he left lingering kisses in the nape of your neck and along your shoulder.
"You're home," he strained, sobs of pure happiness tugging at his throat as he pulled away from you, looking down into those eyes he adored too much.
You moved a piece of his hair away from those pools of brown and green, closing the gap between you as the sky came to life, allowing your love to explode around you whilst the world above and below held a calm breath.
"I couldn't full well miss my favourite night of the year, could I?"
Azriel pressed his forehead to yours, stared into your eyes and drank in every single part of you, his fingers not once moving from your body, "You came back to me."
"I'll always come back to you, Az. Always."

The day court was beautiful.
That was all Y/n could think of as a sentry led her towards Helion's private receiving chambers, all other adjectives having flown out of her head the moment Azriel had dropped her on the border of Day court, from where she'd winnowed herself to the palace.
The white houses, the red and gold roofs, the sunlight shining from above and reflecting from pools of water and the Palace right in the center of it all, the colourful market in the town square...
It was safe to say Y/n was ready to move to Day court, already having forgotten that she was here on a mission from Rhysand.
She was ready, bags packed, no questions asked.
So busy was she gaping at the beautiful architecture of the palace, the artwork reigning her in like some trick of hypnotism, she didn't realise the sentry had come to a stop outside two large oak doors.
Unfortunately, that meant she smacked right into his back before she realised.
Her cheeks blazing, Y/n stumbled back as she glanced up at the male, who had an amused smile on his face.
"I merely stumbled. My dress is a little long."
He nodded. "Never said you did not stumble. I believe it must be hard to walk around in your too long knee length dress."
Blood rushed into Y/n's ears as she looked down at the dress that... only reached her knees, realising he was right.
Fuck.
She cleared her throat, standing at attention, avoiding his eyes.
From her peripherals, she could see him grinning as he knocked on the door, waiting until a voice called out to let them in.
The male opened the door, holding it open for Y/n. She hurried in, resisting the urge to just die as he closed the door behind her.
So much for making a good first impression.
Y/n shook her head, trying to dislodge the lump now forming in her throat at the upcoming conversation.
Being an introvert and shy was a hard job, one Y/n was very good at.
But being introverted and shy while being an emissary? Now that was the job of someone that Y/n would consider god.
And exactly why Y/n had been so against the idea of her becoming an emissary when Rhysand suggested it, knowing she would rather live a life alone in the middle of nowhere and probably become the next Weaver than become an emissary.
Alas, she was the only researcher Rhysand had at his disposal, so now she had been sent to read through as many libraries and books in day court as possible to aid in Feyre's second pregnancy.
It hadn't been confirmed yet whether the babe was winged, but Rhysand and the inner circle thought it best to start researching in advance just in case the babe did have wings and to prevent the second pregnancy ending up the same way the first did, and this time with no one to save them.
"Y/n! Always a pleasure to see you!" Y/n met the warm honey eyes that belonged to Helion, a smile spreading on her face unprompted.
"Helion." She greeted, walking forward and directly into his open and inviting arms, squeezing him back when he wrapped his arms around her.
"I hope the journey was not too hard?"
Y/n laughed, pulling away. "All I had to do was winnow, Helion, why would it be hard?"
Helion grinned, then turned to glance at something behind him.
With horror, Y/n realised that it was not something, it was someone.
Her panicked eyes shot to Helion, remembering that Rhys said Y/n wouldn't have to interact with anyone other than the day court high lord.
"Ah Y/n, meet my son, Lucien. Though I'm sure you've met before."
Y/n swallowed, then let her eyes wander to Lucien. Which, definitely not a good idea, considering Y/n was suddenly drooling and looking away like he had burned her eyes.
She had only looked at him for a moment, but that moment was enough for Y/n to have taken note of how ravishing he looked.
Ravishing?!? Get a grip Y/n.
Y/n attempted to calm her racing heartbeat by taking deep breaths, trying not to think of all the golden skin on display that was not covered by the white robe, the gold crown adorning the head of fiery red.
Trying especially hard not to think about the way his skin glowed with happiness and the beautiful, flirtatious smile adorning those plush, soft lips.
"We- we have met before."
"That's amazing! So if introductions are not needed, I'll take my leave."
Y/n knew her eyes were bulging out of her head at this point, but she did not really care as she gaped at Helion's retreating back. She continued to stare until he reached the doors, then turned to wink at her like he was in on a secret she was not.
Bastard.
Y/n, not knowing what to do, glanced at Lucien, who, in the perfect son-of-bastard way, sent her a cocky grin.
Y/n glared at him at that, pretending like the blush on her face was because of anger and not because she was shy.
"I don't know if Rhys informed you, but I will be helping you out today with the research."
Y/n's eyes widened, staring at him like he'd claimed to have met the Mother herself.
Which, Y/n would have been less surprised to hear, but that was the talk for another day.
"I- no one told me."
Lucien shrugged, that infuriating smile still on his face. "It came up last moment when my father had to leave to handle some important matters."
Y/n nodded sadly, mentally encouraging herself that she could do this.
With a sigh, she gestured at him. "Lead the way."
•○🌑○•
"Are you hungry yet?"
Y/n reigned in her sigh of exasperation.
For the past hour, Lucien had been hovering around Y/n, bothering her with stupid questions and trying to get her to go somewhere else. Where, Y/n could not for the life of her figure out.
She glanced up at him, finding his arms crossed over his chest, a careless grin on his face as he leaned against the desk she sat at.
She also noticed how he stood a little too close to just be acting like a caring host, but she ignored it, just like she ignored the bulging, mouth watering muscles in his arms.
"I am sorry Lucien, but my stomach does not consider me worthy of food at the moment. I will let you know once it decides I deserve to eat."
He laughed at that, his head thrown back, his chest vibrating with how genuine the sound was.
Y/n's eyes dropped to the strong column of his throat, his Adam's apple bobbing as he glanced back down to her, grinning. Y/n noticed the dimple that made an appearance in his cheeks, but she pretended she was still mad at his constant nagging and turned back to the thick bound tomes she had open in front of her.
Y/n got a moment of reprieve before he drew her attention again.
But this time he did not ask her if she was hungry or if she was thirsty.
No, he pushed off from the table, and Y/n watched him from the corner of her eyes as he walked to the back of her chair.
She was curious, of course she was, but also glad that he would let her do her studies.
Also sad that he was leaving, but no one needed to know that.
But suddenly, two arms were caging her in against the table, and Y/n startled at the sudden heat of being caged against the wood by someone who quite literally had the heat of autumn court fire in his blood and the warmth of day court sun in his blood.
"What are you doing?!" Y/n yelped, trying to keep quiet in the library.
His breath tickled the hair at the side of her neck as he leaned in.
"I am just wanting to inquire when your stomach will deem you worthy of eating."
"Oh my god." Y/n mumbled, her blood tinting her face red. "Stop it Lucien!"
"Not until you tell me you will go out to eat with me. Tell me, will giving you the sun in a bowl convince you?"
Y/n only kept getting redder in the face, and to try to cover it up, she slapped her hands over her face.
He tsked. "That sounded like it hurt."
Y/n paused for a moment, then mumbled out- "It did."
He laughed again, and something about having him so close to her, so free and vulnerable did things to Y/n. She spread her fingers, peeking out to find his eyes closed, his teeth glinting softly in the sunlight streaming in through the stained glass windows.
She stared at him, slowly letting her hands fall into her lap, not realising she was staring.
Or maybe not caring.
His laughter slowly died down, the sound still ringing softly in Y/n's ears until it faded away.
He met her eyes, happier than Y/n had ever seen, and gave her a soft smile.
"So?"
Y/n sighed, the sound so exaggerated she would have laughed any other time.
"Fine."
For good measure, Y/n rolled her eyes at him before she turned back to the dusty tomes sitting on the rich wood desk.
She could practically feel his grin as he dipped closer, planting a kiss on her cheek.
Y/n's eyes flew wide, turning to gape at him as he straightened.
"So, a bowl of sunlight. In the receiving room before sunset?"
Y/n choked out an okay.
The bastard had the audacity to wink at her as he turned and strutted away, his careless demeanour already enchanting Y/n's malfunctioning brain.
She watched his retreating back until she couldn't anymore, then straightened to stare at the words that now made no sense to Y/n because she was so busy trying not to think about the plans she now had for the evening.
Did he just...
Y/n blinked, glancing once to the archway he'd just disappeared into.
Did he just ask me out on a date?
Y/n shook her head.
No, it was just not possible.
Lucien? Asking Y/n out on date?
Y/n wanted to laugh at herself for even thinking that. Lucien would never...
Fuck.
Despite herself, Y/n began to smile, and hope.
What have I gotten myself into?
It was going to be hurting her brain to think so much about it, but she couldn't care less about it.
Still smiling, Y/n returned to her work, now trying to stop focusing on him and start doing the thing she was actually here for.
It's going to be a long day.

“Now that we've helped Fujin tend to the soil, Paimon has noticed that it's a lot prettier in Chenyu Vale.”
The floating fairy-like creature chirps as she hovers along the dirt path by her blonde companion's side.
“Speaking of prettier things. Traveler, did you notice that the sky here in Chenyu Vale is much different from the skies in the rest of Liyue?”
The golden blonde next to her stops and turns his gaze onto her, raising a brow of skepticism. His eyes then raise to the darkened sky that hangs above them and take in the sight.
What Paimon said was true. The sky truly was different from the rest of Liyue and any other region that the two had visited so far. As it was night, the sky was a deep midnight blue with swirls of violet and turquoise that seemed to glow from within the cotton-like clouds that partially obscured and circled the shining white moon. Stars speckle the suspended landscape of night haphazardly, their droplets of white add an almost otherworldly quality to the already ethereal scene. And, of course, the faded silhouette of Celestia looms ominously in the distance, creeping north ever so slowly. It truly was unlike anything that Aether had ever seen before.
“That's–… how did I never notice it.”
The golden blonde mumbles as he looks up in wonder and amazement, but also confusion.
Why was the sky in Chenyu Vale so drastically different from anywhere else? What was so different about this place? How was the sky this way in the first place? It was strange; like the sky was altered by something to be this way, and although Aether wanted to think that something like that was impossible, his expectations have been demolished and rebuilt countless times since he descended into Teyvat.
The small bob-haired fairy floated in front of his face and waved her arms about to attract his attention.
“Hey, if you're curious about the sky, why don't we head back to Yilong Wharf and ask the locals about it? Maybe if we're lucky we'll run into Cloud Retai– uhm… Xianyun again; she might know too!”
Paimon suggests before turning and floating further down the dirt road toward their new destination.
“Hm.”
Aether hums, giving a curt nod as he follows his guide back to the wharf.
Tumblr media
“Uuugh! Paimon is so tired! Why is Chiwang Terrace so far from here anyway!? It's already daytime!”
Paimon whines as she slowly floats along with her blonde companion at a snail's pace in a slumped-over position.
“How about we head over to Jiulue Teahouse? We can sit down and eat some of the local dishes then we can start asking around.”
The outlander chuckles softly as he reaches over and pats the floating girl on the head in sympathy before grabbing her and carefully holding her under his arm. Paimon only sighs and gives her friend a nod as she's carried off in the direction of the teahouse.
On their way over to one of the nearby stalls, Aether spots a storyteller on the outside stage; maybe this storyteller has a few tales about the skies here. Though, after a short deliberation, he lets his floating companion go and buy food for the two of them while he goes and speaks to the storyteller; with a reasonable allowance, lest the girl buy out the stall's entire stock and empty his mora pouch.
Once the two part ways, the golden blonde sees the older man leaving off the stage, seemingly emptied of his arsenal of tall tales. So he waves the man, who he learns is named Jiewu going by the nearby chatter of patrons, down.
“Excuse me! I know that you just got off the stage, but I was wondering if you had any stories about the skies of Chenyu Vale?”
He asked straightforwardly; getting a comical sweat drop from the older man at his bluntness.
Jiewu mutters a bit as he pinches his chin between his thumb and forefinger; his crow's feet becoming more pronounced as he squints his eyes in thought. The older man takes a glance up at the magnificent sky with a bland expression, as if it were the most mundane thing that he'd ever seen before. It was almost as if he didn't notice anything significant at all. Strange.
“I can't say I have any stories about the sky, young man. I've no clue why you're interested in something like that, there's nothing very spectacular about the sky.”
Jiewu confusedly drones out; raising a thick brow at the blonde and taking another glance at the sky above.
“Was there anything else you needed, young man? If I'm not home soon, my wife will have a fit”
The older man asks in a still polite but slightly rushed tone, making it clear that he wanted the conversation to end quickly.
Aether only shakes his head and allows the man to take his leave. Turning around, he sees Paimon floating toward him with bagged food in hand and an annoyed expression on her face. He raises a brow at her, silently asking what was wrong.
“Paimon asked the stall owner about the sky while waiting for the food, but he only looked at Paimon with a weird face and said ‘there's nothing really special about the sky, is there?’. And the other people Paimon asked said something similar!”
The floating girl loudly complains before digging her hands into the bag, pulling out a skewer of food and angrily chomping on it; letting out muffled mumbles about giving the stall owner an ugly nickname.
Aether only sighs as he motions for his fairy-like companion to follow him.
Their next stop: Mt. Mingyuan!
Tumblr media
As the traveler scaled the cliffs of Mt. Mingyuan, he kept hearing the sound of a paper bag rustling and the unmistakable munching of food. A metaphorical vein bulged out on his temple as he whipped his head around to look at his floating guide.
“You— Paimon, give me the bag! If you eat everything again, I swear I'll feed you to a cryo slime!”
Aether growled as he recklessly took one hand off the cliffside to swipe at the bag in Paimon's hands, the girl dodging every time.
Unfortunately, all the wild movements made him lose his foothold in the cliffside and sent him plummeting towards the ground below. In too much shock to deploy his wind glider, all the golden blonde could do was stare upwards at the screaming Paimon who too was frozen in fear.
But then… on the wind, he heard a faint whisper of droplets landing on the surface of water…
From beneath him, Aether felt a soft embrace pushing him upwards; the quiet sounds of shifting waters made him look back. What he could only describe was a small cloud of heavy mist with a ring of water swirling around it. The strange cloud lifted him, and Paimon when it reached the height she was at, up and over the cliffside, where it then came to a stop and seemingly patiently waited for him to get off.
The golden blonde shakily stumbled off of the helpful cloud and fell on his bottom on the grassy cliff top. His heart beat erratically and his whole body trembled as the adrenaline finally caught up with him. He didn't even register the tearful apologies of his floating friend as she hugged him and sobbed into his chest.
“...One did not think that mortals had become so foolish over such a short time…”
A gentle voice softly whispered from a place that Aether couldn't locate.
“...You shall consider yourself lucky that one was present to witness your fall, lest you no longer be among the living…”
The voice spoke familiarly; it reminded Aether of how Xianyun and the other adeptus spoke. Surely this voice must belong to another adeptus that he just hadn't met yet.
“...Descend the mountain and return to a safer location, the cliffs of Mt. Mingyuan are no place for young mortals like yourself…”
The voice spoke again, this time though, it seemed to be coming from the cloud that saved him from his fall. With every syllable pronounced, the cloud of mist gave off a faint but ethereal glow in a medley of colors. Colors that were reminiscent of the night sky that he had seen just yesterday.
Breaking from his adrenaline-fueled trance, Aether shakily gets to his feet and takes the still-sobbing Paimon into his arms. He spared a glance back at the cloud, tempted to stay and ask it about its possible connection to the mysterious skies that he had been wondering about, but one look at the disheveled companion in his arms and he knew his answer. He'd have to worry about that later, his dear friend needs him right now.
“Can… Can I ask you for your name?”
The golden blonde asked, almost sounding as if he was begging with how his voice trembled.
“...One's name should be of no concern to you at this time; you must go now…”
The ‘cloud’ softly answered back, as if it were trying to coax a sleepy child back into a dream.
With that answer, Aether nodded and headed down the mountain with careful and measured steps, occasionally giving quick glances down at the sleeping Paimon's tear-stained face. He sighs, perhaps he can just ask about this mysterious adeptus another time, he has much more important things to worry about now.

Times the Inner Circle chose Rhys over Feyre:
• When they hid the dangers of her pregnancy from her.
Times the Inner Circle chose Feyre over Rhys:
• When Mor hid her from Rhys after she found out about the mating bond.
• When Azriel blatantly ignored Rhys at the High Lord’s meeting and only got off of Eris when Feyre told him to.
• When Amren argued with Rhys over leaving Feyre in the Night Court.
• When Cassian argued with Rhys over sending Feyre to the weaver.
• When Cassian argued with Rhys over not telling him that Feyre was High Lady.
“But none of these are life or death situations”…Attacking a High Lord’s son and ignoring when your High Lord tells you to stop isn’t a life or death situation? Beron was literally trying to attack Azriel to get him off of Eris and that’s not a life or death situation? The weaver isn’t a life or death situation? Feyre being stuck in the Spring Court where she was physically abused and literally suicidal isn’t a life or death situation?
And in all of these instances, the Inner Circle chose to put Feyre and her feelings above Rhys. And I guarantee you that if these situations were reversed and Rhys was the one Azriel listened to at the High Lord’s meeting while blatantly ignoring Feyre or if Rhys was the one that Mor hid from Feyre, people would be yelling how that proves that the IC doesn’t really listen to or respect Feyre.

So I've read all three books of ACOTAR plus the novella.
DNFd ACOSF, I'm sorry, I just couldn't do it. I love Nesta, and the way she was treated made me want to set the inner circle on fire.
With that said, what did Feyre actually do in the Hybern war?
Okay, she set Amren free so that's something but for the rest of it... she was kind of floundering?
She watched the High Lords fight, watched the Bone Carver, the Weaver, and Bryaxis unleash themselves on the soldiers, watched Azriel.
Then the Couldron 'took hold of her' and she watched Cassian and Nesta preparing to die together, watched her father being killed, watched Elain killing the Hybern king...
For an all-powerful FMC with all 7 powers, I expected her to be out there fighting tooth and nail, sort of like Aelin did in TOG.
I just don't get the hype about her, to be honest.

The Aeon of fate — Explained [as much as they can explain at least.]
A/n: I've been cookin up some lore during the Christmas season and boom. Lore drop time! Don't ask why it took so long/j
Tumblr media
[Opening research logs....]
[Aeon records:]
[The Aeon of Fate — All recalled information and records available.]
The Aeon of Fate, colloquially known as 'Moirai'.
-- Other titles include:
The Weaver
Destinyseeker
Parcae
Holder of a thousand strings
-- Has no known date of existence, currently theorized to have formed thousands of Amber eras ago, back when the first forms of sentient life began to wander the universe. Many believe that there are/were three different beings sharing the mantle of 'Fate'. None have found proof of this.
-- Though any known past emanators no longer exist, their records show the extensive reach and power of the Aeon. Said to be able to erase any traces of existence, to turn the tide of battle on a whim, to remove and add entire dynasties with a simple thread.
-- The emanators were usually prophets, seers, and divine priests, describing the Aeon as a veiled figure spinning thousands of strings or a being made of strings, constantly weaving together and fraying apart.
-- Those who tread the path of Fate are those who seek to guide others and interpret the world, diligent people who feel a deeper connection to the universe.
-- Previous emanators of the path were highly sought after, commonly abducted and forced to serve kings and act as advisors due to their knowledge.
-- However they began to die out, most simply dropping dead while others managed to write down the last few prophecies and sights they had. The last known emanators of Moirai, were the three sisters, Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos, Whose only surviving prophecy spoke of how the Aeon has found the final thread of the cosmic tapestry, before all three promptly killed themselves.
Factions:
The Thread Weavers - People who believe that the Aeon left one last unfinished tapestry depicting the fate of the last amber era, they search for any thread that can lead them to the tapestry.
Spools of Fate - The inner circle of the thread weavers and members of this circle were known emanators, the ones who led the pursuit on finding the threads of fate. Was led by the three sisters before their deaths. [All new vassals of the Aeon are considered spools due to their direct contact with them.]

Feyre's Power and Versatility
I feel like Feyre's skill set, power, and versatility is so creatively done in the series.
I saw some people say that Feyre didn't fight a lot or show her powers or abilities much in the series, and I never got that impression when reading. I was blown away at how many skills she shows, powers and abilities and the unique combinations of them.
So I went through a looked at examples of skills/abilities and how they're used creatively-
Archery
The obvious first one, but beyond her backstory and the first chapters of acotar, it comes up even after she turns fae; like in acowar, killing a couple of the naga hounds as they escape from Hybern's camp:
Tumblr media
It's not a forgotten skill even if Feyre has so many other abilities to utilize later that it comes up less often.
Hunting
Feyre the huntress is basically the origin of her character and a defining skill; you can see it in her trapping and killing the Middengard Wyrm as a human, but it also comes up when she saves Rhys from the Hybern soldiers in acomaf:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Hybern scouts even attempted to conceal where they'd taken Rhys by using his shirt to carry his scent and splitting up into two groups, and Feyre is still able to figure out which group to track.
She doesn't just understand snares/traps, she understands animal habits, tracking, and applies that knowledge to kill the Wyrm in impossible odds and save Rhys in acomaf.
Hand-to-Hand Combat
Feyre is a skilled combatant, even without relying on magic:
Tumblr media
She even does this while also incorporating (and keeping up with a thousand year old Hybern Commander utilizing the same) winnowing into her fight here.
(To say nothing of how she's poisoned and weakened during this and adapts her fighting to end it quicker, get Lucien free, to finish before the poison can fully take hold).
It's so impressive that Lucien (who's centuries old) and Brannagh (who is a thousand) are visibly shocked. Lucien even comments on it later.
Tumblr media
Winnowing
Winnowing is "a rare gift" that "only the stronger Fae can do"; only a few of the Inner Circle are shown to be able to do it. Thousand year old Hybern royalty like Brannagh can't do it.
But Feyre is able to. She even is shown to winnow with others (saving Rhys in acomaf and taking on another sentry in early acowar).
And it's implied she'll get better with time since it's established training is important (not just power) to go further distances and carry others and that what Feyre needs is more time and training to go farther:
"[Winnowing is] wholly dependent on your own reserve of power—and training" - Rhys explaining winnowing to Feyre in acomaf
I still had not yet mastered doing it over long distances. At least, not with many stops in between. -Feyre, end of acomaf
Strength/Speed
Feyre is noted to be unusually (physically) strong and fast for a High Fae, which is one of the first signs of a High Lord's Heir.
Tumblr media
Her strength is shown in the Weaver's Cottage when she loosens and throws bricks at her and in her inability to keep from destroying doors and silverware and whatnot on accident after being turned, literally not knowing her own strength.
Shielding
Her mental shielding is so good, she successfully keeps Rhys out; she's also able to physically shield against High Lord powered attacks (like Tamlin in acomaf and Beron in acowar):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She also shields Lucien and Tamlin's minds and protects them from daemati attacks without them even realizing in early acowar.
Tumblr media
Daemati
Daemati are even rarer than fae who can winnow, and her burgeoning abilities were so strong, she slipped into Lucien's mind without meaning to multiple times.
She was also able to influence a High Lord (Tarquin) and infiltrate Ianthe's mind so deeply it took days for the King of Hybern to unravel.
Tumblr media
We also see her power to sense minds, cast of "net of awareness" and see if any fae are hiding or nearby.
Curse-Breaking/Spell-Cleaving/Ward Breaking
Feyre can cleave even difficult and powerful wards/spells. Even the King of Hybern is impressed-
Tumblr media
She cleaves his wards/breaks his spells multiple times and also breaks a High Lord's:
Tumblr media
Moreover, she's able to almost trick spells:
Tumblr media
She also can detect spells as part of her abilities:
Tumblr media
Shapeshifting
She uses her shapeshifting abilities to enhance her body in combat (i.e., eyes that can see in the darkness, talons to fight with, and wings to fly with). She's also able to use it to impersonate others, like infiltrating Hybern's camp as "Ianthe".
Beyond that, Azriel notes that her attention to detail as an artist allowed her to create detailed, accurate wings, highlighting the intersection for how she views the world as an artist with her powers:
Tumblr media
Elemental/Misc. HL Powers
Beyond the others above, she also inherits a variety of often elemental type of powers specific to different courts that she uses in varied, creative way- a few examples:
Night (shadows): uses the shadows to blind the Hybern soldiers in the halls of the Adriata palace and use the cover of darkness to winnow repeatedly and kill them (while using the shapeshifted eyes so she has night vision)
Day (light): blinds Eris on the ice in acowar to get away
Day (wind): uses the wind to create shields and block weapons like arrows
Dawn (healing): mostly seen speeding up healing herself but we've seen it save Rhys's life when he's poisoned
Winter (ice): after drenching the flying Hybern soldiers with water in the attack on Velaris, she uses the ice to freeze them and bring them to the ground to shatter; she also uses the ice to negate Eris's fire cuffs in acowar
Summer (water): the water wolves speak for themselves- but just creating water animals as weapons that can charge and fly in general; she also drowns a Hybern soldier on land in the Adriata palace
Autumn (fire): she uses lashes of fire to behead Hybern soldiers in Adriata and even set an entire clearing ablaze in acomaf (before using other powers to smother it)
You can see in many cases, she plays off the complementary powers (using water to soak flying soldiers only to use ice to freeze them; using shadows to blind Hybern soldiers while using her shapeshifting to give herself night vision and winnow in bursts to take out the soldiers).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This gives her abilities and powers that are unique from the individual High Lords.
Glamouring
Tumblr media
She uses the shapeshifting magic to conjure a glamour of their entire army. This is a glamour that a high lord (Tarquin) was skeptical could be done. The NC army is significantly bigger than the Summer army, too.
Tumblr media
She also uses glamouring when she hides Bryaxis and the Bone Carver before the battle with Hybern, with no one on either side aware.
Wielding the Cauldron
Feyre possesses an ability to use the Cauldron that's incredibly rare. It's shown that part of it is due to being Made, but also Feyre's own ability to control herself/her mind and withstand its power.
Tumblr media
She is the one able to be a conduit and reforge it, even without the Book of Breathings, in a cool moment that purposefully references The Mother and "the story of Prythian":
Tumblr media
Her power also goes in to remake the Cauldron with Rhys's:
Tumblr media
Her ability to do this (use the Cauldron as a conduit to unleash Amren and reforge it) is the only reason they win the war, that any of Prythian's forces live.
She also can sense it and track it:
Tumblr media
The King of Hybern even notes that the Cauldron "purrs" in her presence.
Tumblr media
General Power
The acotar books aren't great with power scaling imo; having said that, Feyre's considerable power is discussed and acknowledged multiple times.
Her use of magic in the Court of Nightmares when people try to test "whatever power she might have" causes people to faint, tremble, whimper, and flee even:
Tumblr media
In the High Lord meeting it's especially apparent.
I think some misunderstand that though Helion establishes that what it feels like for the High Lords is that they're missing an inconsequential bit of their power (to the point that only he is shown to have noticed it), he also says in the same breath, that the power Feyre just displayed makes him say "no wonder" she was made High Lady, establishing it as HL level in his eyes:
Tumblr media
I think it plays into how Feyre is repeatedly asked "what are you?" by people like the Weaver or established as "like and unlike all".
Because despite all the HLs acknowledging Feyre was given just a drop/they aren't missing much, it's also acknowledged that she could've killed the oldest High Lord (Beron) and her display seems like "far more" than what was given:
Tumblr media
It's not that 7 drops of power from the High Lord's adds up to much and took anything noticeable from them individually, it's that the combination created something unexpected, "outside anything" recognizable and with a "behemoth" of power.
Tumblr media
Feyre being Made this way literally became something more than the sum of her parts- and that's only emphasized with how she combines her powers and abilities to make something new.
Seven Courts/Connection to Prythian/Made
Feyre notes that her unusual powers respond differently, to the High Lord and their court/land. This comes up when she's tracking items, when she's getting past their wards, and even from the land itself.
Like her other abilities, she combines her connection to the HLs to other gifts- like using her shapeshifting to physically become Tarquin and then her connection to him to be perceived as him by spells.
Another interesting thing is that Feyre's power responds to both the High Lord's power (it "writhed" in response at the start of the battle against Hybern when they use theirs) and the land of their courts. She notes that her affinity to use certain court powers responds and is strengthened when she's there:
Tumblr media
In the Middle, there's even a moment where Feyre feels the very land of Prythian accommodating her:
Tumblr media
Which connects well to how she reforges the Cauldron with a purposeful reference to "the story of Prythian" (when the Mother held the Cauldron- notably depicted in a "starry, endless night") and the start of all life.
The whole "child of seven courts" with powers that respond to the land is fascinating as the power in Prythian is so tied to the land and that moment that she parallels.
-
I liked how Feyre's skills and powers are shown because readers really get to see it and not just hear "she's powerful" or "she's a huntress".
You see her apply training (so much emphasis on power training with Rhys and combat with Cassian and flying with Azriel for instance and all get payoff) and experiences (her years hunting shows up in all three books and makes moments like killing the Wyrm and finding Rhys after he's taken feel more earned) rather than just suddenly have "power".
You get to see how she applies her powers, how she combines her skill set, rather than just a generic blast of power that demonstrates "power" but no skill or strategy. And that creates abilities that are new and unique.
Anyway, this was fun to do- Feyre's a badass whose versatility lets her build upon the individual powers she has and her powers and skill set are used very creatively in the series.

at what point does something stop being made by a person and start being made by a machine? is someone creating a photoshop action so the computer will run code to edit a photo they found online all that different from someone inputting words into a human made algorithm trained on human made images to generate a photo? if i use a knitting machine to make something does it count as human made or machine made or both? if i design a program that knits the object without me having to manually operate the machine does it still hold emotional value? what if i allow others to use that program to do the same thing and they input a sentence into the program articulating what they want made and the machine creates it? is 3d printing art? is technology itself capable of being art? if we define 'what gets to be art' by the % of machine involvement at what % does it stop being art? does this entire argument not feel a bit futile and arbitrary to you?
everyone will have a different answer just like how everyone has a different answer on 'what is art' and that's an argument we've been having for ages and will continue to have for the foreseeable future. i'm a weaver and an artist and my tendency is to lean toward the romantic, but in my efforts to be a materialist i ultimately find these questions largely unhelpful on the topic of 'should generative ai art be forbidden' because if we're only talking about how things make us feel and how we want the world to be and not the actual material impacts of things from a practical perspective we'll never get anything done. it's why i said that arguments against generative ai that take this stance are unconvincing and if you try to critique ai from an angle that isn't materialist you will run yourself in circles.
