Three classic Scooby-Doo movies are coming to Blu-ray on February 20 via Warner Archive: 1987's Scooby-Doo Meets the Boo Brothers, 1988's Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School, and 1988's Scooby-Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf.
All three films star Don Messick as Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo and Casey Kasem as Shaggy. The voice casts also include Sorrell Book, William Callaway, Victoria Carroll, B.J. Ward, Hamilton Camp, Jim Cummings, Susan Blu, and Remy Auberjonois.
The Reluctant Werewolf comes with the 1979 special Scooby Goes Hollywood in high definition as an extra. No other special features are included.
When Shaggy takes Scooby and Scrappy-Doo to the Southern plantation he's inherited from his Uncle Beauregard, they find a creepy manservant, a collection of ghostly tenants, and a fortune in family jewels hidden somewhere on the estate! Terrified, Scooby and Shaggy call in the services of the Boo Brothers - Freako, Streako and Meako - a team of barely scary ghosts. But as ghosts chase ghosts, they all chase Scooby, Scrappy and Shaggy from one end of the estate to the other, through trap doors and secret tunnels, onto runaway contraptions and into dangerous booby traps, with hairbreadth escapes at every turn!
Pre-order Scooby-Doo Meets the Boo Brothers.
When Scooby, Scrappy and Shaggy are hired as coaches at Miss Grimwood's Finishing School, they soon discover to their horror that they're not teaching at a girls' school… they're teaching at a ghouls' school-home to the daughters of rich and famous monsters, like Winnie the Werewolf, Elsa Frankenteen, Sibella Dracula and the Mummy's daughter. But the Scooby gang doesn't let a few monsters stop them from their task. They train the ghouls for a big sports tournament against the boys at a nearby military academy. And the ghouls win! But danger strikes at a Halloween celebration and it's Scooby and pals to the rescue!
Pre-order Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School.
When Dracula's venerable old werewolf retires to Florida, the vampire decides Shaggy will make the perfect replacement. Dracula locks Scooby, Scrappy, Shaggy and Shaggy's girlfriend, Googie, in his scary castle, where they are forced to dine on everything from frog fudge to spider souffle. And Shaggy becomes shaggier than ever when Dracula turns him into a werewolf! To become his old self, Shaggy must win the Monster Rally car race. But obstacles lurk around every bend: dangerous cliffs, lava pits, even vampire bees! And it will take everything Scooby and the gang can do to help Shaggy win.

I feel like there's been a lot of wasted potential in the past decade of Scooby Doo for them to play around with Shaggy being a werewolf.

its not really a new thing for me to say that i kinda hate the whole 'werewolf pack' kinda thing for a few reasons, but i dont like, entirely hate it yknow
like my main thing is i like characters having a sortve isolated angsty ass time(i wonder why /s), and werewolves are great for angst! so putting the two together is like. oh hell yes. but thats just a me thing
but also for some reason almost every depiction ive seen of werewolves and werewolf packs has been like... 'their nature/instincts/whatever makes this happen' like, they cant resist it because its something theyre basically forced to do by their biology. ive seen it be blood families, ive seen it be random people who just met and theyre basically bound by the universe i guess, blah blah blah
and idk, i hate that. of course, almost everyone and almost every species has it in their nature to be social and need connection, but its not portrayed like that in these cases. its portrayed more like theyll basically die if they for whatever reason reject it or something, and that their loyalty is their entire life or whatever. idk, its hard to describe.
i think its kinda obvious that im leading this up to found family. who doesnt love found family? who doesnt love when people and characters choose the people that they want to spend their lives with, whether blood is involved or not.
and theres no instinct part of it for me, its just people who want/need support from others, and they find people they love, and you could call it a pack but i just personally wouldnt. its just like any other relationship tbh, but its obv cuter as a group :p
and if it happens to be other werewolves, or other monsters, or even just humans... thats their people that they chose.

Scooby retrieves the magic book that can turn shaggy back into a human. Read: scooby retrieves medical information to give to Googie to help with shaggy’s new diagnosis (werewolf).

As we got a sequel movie to Scooby Doo and the 13 ghost can we have a sequel to Reluctant Werewolf and Ghoul School?
Both would be great if they followed the same idea as the 13 Ghosts film.
So for Reluctant Werewolf Shaggy has to take part in another race for Dracula but make it more interesting if either Velma, Daphne or Fred also turns into a monster and bring back Googie!
Then for Ghoul School just have a reunion party so the girls can see their teachers again and the rest of gang like 'you lived here?!?!'

Idea for Halloween horses: Werewolf mustang, extra shaggy with wolf ears, fangies and fluffy wolf tail and wolf-like coat markings. Vampire Belgian warmblood (or arabian or something else? Something elegant and sleek), huge fangies, pale coat, red eyes.

Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School thoughts
Tumblr media
- I have a soft spot for this movie, it was my grandma’s favorite.
- Shaggy is a good teacher when he isn’t overcome by terror.
- It’s kind of funny he’s so scared of these children at all, like, he’s bigger than they are and they’re very obviously not dangerous.
- Miss Grimwood seems to have no idea that humans eat and drink different things than monsters. I think she’s either a very dedicated troll or she just hasn’t bothered to learn the differences. Which is out of character for the headmistress of a Finishing School, a place where girls would go to learn social graces.
- The girls ages seem to range between 6-14. Most finishing schools are for older teens, so this is a plain boarding school that focuses on etiquette.
- Come to think of it, the two different schools are more like camps than actual finishing/boarding  schools.
- Me at several points: “Shaggy, those little girls LOVE you! Stop being so rude!”
- HC that Phantom Father adopted Phanty after she died.
- I really like Matches. He constantly chooses violence and hatred.
- If the girls are the daughters of famous monsters, than who are the boy’s parents?
- The Volleyball game should have been the B or C plot and Revolta the A plot.
- I think a better motivation for Revolta would have been holding the girls hostage and trying to force their parents into helping her take over.
- Alternately, she kidnaps the girls to teach them to be evil, because the point of Miss Grimwood’s school is to teach them to live at peace with humanity, without rejecting their monster selves. Because their fathers all want better for them and Revolta doesn’t Get that.
.-  In my alternate plots the cadets could be trying to convince the Commander that the monster girls are monsters but it goes over like Candace in a Phineas and Ferb episode. The Commander just thinks they’re eccentric because they come from wealthy families. He never figures it out and is actually friends with Frankenstein, they have coffee on Sundays.
- I don’t usually like Scrappy but he’s okay in this movie.
- The Leg Warmers and Headbands are very 80s.
- I like imagining Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy trying to explain all this to the rest of the gang later on.
Shaggy in Scoobynatural: We tried to tell you! But did you listen?! No!

Shaggy Roger in various canons being a werewolf (Reluctant Werewolf + multiple refs throughout the years), but also a vegetarian/vegan is hilarious but also really interesting to consider especially since his character has only been a practicing vegetarianism since the early 2000s. Basically any Casey Kasem-voiced Shaggy is confirmed non-meat eater, with creators continuing the trend in honor of the og voice actor.
So I thought; What would happen to a werewolf Shaggy if he eats meat?
Most recent meat consumption I can think of is the crawdads in "Zombie Island", and thats shellfish. Hotdogs covered in whipped cream in Cyber-Chase. In Mystery Incorporated he chows down on a whole plate of burgers. And the last two can easily be swapped out for veggie alternatives.
Would the werewolf side of Shaggy become "worse" if he ate red and/or rare meat?
Probably a good thing his dog steals his plate 70% of the time.
Tumblr media
Perhaps a Raw (2016) situation, where the consumption of any red meat activates lurking hunting and cannibalism instincts?
I dunno man I've been looking at a lot of horror stuff atm and wanna see a *good* adult-focused Scooby Doo tackle these kinda tropes. Imagine a infamous pacifist and coward like Shaggy having to become a monster to protect his friends. Like a SIAMÉS "The Wolf" amv where the Mystery Inc gang is getting chased by monsters, only for their skinny friend to run at the threat, teeth bared.
