Important info please read!!
I am a goddamn moron. And I reeeally fucked up.
You know that thing when you get in a new fandom not from watching/reading canon material but from looking at fanart and fanfics?
So your perception of what characters should look/behave like is based on things other people draw and write?
Yeah. I first discovered Texaid through fanfiction and then went to look for some fanart of it and then, like an absolUTE FUCKING IDIOT, assumed I knew what they looked like because I saw how other people draw them. When in reality I was basically drawing other person's design from memory this whole time??? And no one ever called me out about this until today?? Why no one told me sooner ohmyfuckingod I would stop this shit instantly
Guys. GUYS. Those Texaid designs belong to @disformer They were never mine. It's fucking important you all know that.
I'm going through all imaginable stages of grief rn I'm so sorry. I won't use the designs ever again. Stealing them wasn't my intention. I knew Vortex and First Aid as a rare pair never really had any interactions in canon so I didn't bother to do a proper research about them and just went with what I saw in fandom. I'll go search for my clown shoes now.

TYROSH
One of the Free Cities east of Westeros. The island began as a military outpost during the reign of Old Valyria and became famous for its bright dye production taken from a variety of sea snails.
Tyrosh is inspired by the ancient Phoenician city of Tyre (modern day in Lebanon) and its popular Tyrian Purple dye.

not that i've been reliable about consuming ANYTHING new for the last six months or so but uhhhhh so how would one go about watching hot date these days anyway
it's so bleak out here honestly. the answer is 🏴‍☠️ unless you want to buy it (which is what i did eventually), and even pirating it it's pretty hard to find a back half of s2 that........ works. s1 you can find easily tho!

Just got done reading @ruffoverthinksthings series about religion on the Isle of the Lost, which ended with Jay's first real encounter with Islam.
For context, in that series of posts, Jafar is a major heretic and hates anything having to do with Islam (and religion in general) and would HATE if Jay started following it.
Building off of that last one where Jay visits the rundown mosque on the Isle, he goes leaves and thinks about what he was told. The rules don't make a lot of sense to him, but the sheer contrast between the order and goodwill of religion vs. the chaos and backstabbing of the Isle... piques his interest.
He goes back on a Friday a few days later, not because he's looking to convert, he's just curious (or so he tells himself). He hides in the back corner of the men's section (not that it does much. There's only about a dozen people there) and just watches.
After the service, Mhira talks to him and ends up offering to help him with his Arabic. There's not a lot of Arabic texts on the island, so Jafar mostly taught him with handwritten stuff when Jay was a kid. By the time he's in his teen years, he's out of practice and has forgotten half of it.
Next thing Jay knows, he's at the mosque every Friday and the things they tell him are starting to make a lot more sense. He formally converts to Islam when he's 14.
He's not a super strict follower (as in, he doesn't follow all the rules all the time), mostly because it's just not practical. Praying makes you vulnerable if you're alone and he'd like to not die, thank you very much; also, if Jafar knew, he'd be a dead man anyway. Mal and the gang don't really understand it, but they do watch his back when he's praying sometimes.
Fast forward to Auradon, he doesn't bother trying to find a mosque the first few weeks. They're just going to get the wand and get out anyway. It doesn't matter. (He's definitely not feeling any guilt about helping to unleash the villains on an unsuspecting Auradon. Nope. Not at all)
He does still pray, though. Luckily, he has lunch period during dhuhr so he just slips out and finds an out of the way spot with a closable door. One day, he's setting up and the door opens.
Turns out, Aziz's usual spot is taken, so he came to his backup spot. He doesn't know Jay very well at this point, but he had always assumed he'd be like his father: either with crazy ideas about Islam, or just a total atheist.
They eye each other for a few seconds, one wary, the other simply surprised, before Aziz goes and sets up next to Jay. They pray together quietly and leave without a word to each other, but Aziz makes an effort to be nice to Jay (and the other VKs by extension) after that.
He also calls his parents that night like, "You will not BELIEVE who I ran into during Dhuhr today!"

fun linguistic things i learned recently: when you pronounce a consonant at the end of a french word because the next word starts with a vowel, it's called a "liaison" (for example, when saying c'est on its own, you don't pronounce the T, but when saying c'est un, you do pronounce the T. i did learn this in school but i didn't specifically remember what it was called)
i have also noticed a similar phenomenon in the way some english ppl talk, where they will add an R sound between a word that ends with a vowel and a word that starts with a vowel. for example, i saw a bird becomes i saw'r a bird. it's called an "intrusive R"
idk what the point of this post is. i just find it so fascinating

One of my funniest early fandom moments was when I had just started writing fanfic and I was trying to find more Glimbow centric fanfic to read and I got excited when I saw this post bc I thought I'd find some new authors to read and the only author they recommended was me. 😅

Btw I have not watched the F1 2016 season, MotoGP 2015 season or AD2021.
I know down to the nitty gritty of what went down but I refuse to watch it actually happen live in action. I'm not mentally stable enough for that shit 🙂‍↕️

the fact that J.J. Abrams' wife is called Katie McGrath and (our) Katie McGrath is a massive Star Wars fan... has she ever commented on that? I bet she finds it hilarious

I know this is always my default headcanon for every fandom but I just really really need the bots and their human friends communicating on DS through pictochat when on their respective bases.
Think of the variation, the bubblefont in cybertronian, the creative ones sending doodles, the ones who have fun using symbols as decoration, the ones who sit there and paint the whole screen black for a one word answer written with the eraser.
The teams dedicating the channels to certain things, the one couple that always uses chat room C to talk to eachother and everyone just knows and leaves them to it (probably after a very very akward encounter because they joined right as someone hit send and didn't have time to react to them joining).
The one bot (blades &or bee probably) flexing that he knows the secret to the rainbow pen and refusing to tell them how.
The teams using pictochat in public places and random people accidentally joining thinking they've stumbled across a very serious RP friend group who are having fun pretending to be aliens. (The one time someone thought alien robot car RP sounded fun and asked to join in and was allowed to the amusement of everyone)
