PART TWO TO GATITA
Tumblr media
Miguel found him a stray cat, you unironically. Once he gave you a lick of attention, you came back for more, the same way a stray cat would whenever a stranger gave it food to eat out of pity. It felt pathetic that you would conjure up any excuse to see him again. Changing your car’s air filter, replacing your windshield wipers, hell, even trying your best to act dumb to simple repairs that you can do on your own. It was almost laughable and pathetic for you to do this, but you couldn’t help it.
The man always made you melt and become sap, like warm honey on a cold kitchen counter—no matter how much you wiped it off with a paper towel, the stick and sweetness lingered behind. But it didn’t take long for Miguel to catch on—the man was intelligent, for God’s sake. It was clear as day as you always took your shitty 1970 Chevy S-10 everywhere, and he would always recognize that iconic blue truck every time you pulled up for a simple repair.
But the innocent visit was about to fall short as the excuses to see him began to fall short. So he decided to change things up, taking you out on a late-night drive.
“M-Miguel!” You screamed at the top of your lungs, clutching onto the glove compartment of the Impala, nearly snapping the fake acrylic nails off your actual nails underneath. “Shhh… You can take it, princesa.” He pats your thigh lovingly before lightly slapping the soft flesh. “Miguel, Miguel!” Your voice fell on deaf ears as you felt the wind knocked out of your lungs.
“Nothing wrong with going a little fast.”
Yep, you've accepted your faith that you were going to die from some freak accident with an extremely hot mechanic next to you. “But it’s so fucking fast!” You screamed out, clawing at the car's dashboard with your nails. Miguel glances over, chuckling at the sight he sees. He could have sworn that if you wanted to, he would have seen some parts of the acrylic break by how strongly you were grasping the dashboard before you. “But we’re barely hitting 100, princess.”
“What?” You whined, not believing his words, as it felt like the Impala was going faster than that. “Don’t worry, we won’t be on the road too long. I need to make a pit stop. Let’s tame that little heart of yours.” Miguel chuckles before taking an exit off the freeway, finally giving you a sense of relief in your veins. “Oh, thank god, thank god…” Your exasperations never failed to bring a smile to Miguel’s face as the Impala pulled up to a nearby gas station.
The white, bright lights at the gas pumps created an ominous aura in the space, but the ambiance of familiarity filled your soul. “C’mon, let’s get something to drink before we arrive at the meet, okay?” With trembling legs similar to those of a baby deer newly born, you stumbled out of the vintage car, clutching onto the vehicle's door. “Okay, I’ll catch up soon…”
Miguel walks ahead, stepping into the gas station while you stagger behind, taking slow, steady steps to the building. “Coming, muneca?” He calls out, holding the door open for you as you stagger in, feeling the cool, icy breeze against your sticky, sweaty skin from the summer heat. “I’m coming, I’m coming…” You mumble, stepping into the gas station to grab a small drink.
After taking a sip of the cold beverage, the sight of the forest slowly came to mind as the corner stores and gas stations slowly began to fade behind you. This late-night drive became nonetheless soothing, nothing but the long road ahead, along with the low ambiance of music and the car’s engine.
/
His hands grasped your wrists, and you felt his calloused hand engulf your wrist almost. “Please stay still, hermosa.” He croons to you. With his free hand, his touch roamed over your body, occasionally letting his hand caress your curves, soon letting his hand grope your breast gently before rubbing the side of his thumb against your clothed nipple, lightly grazing the sensitive bud. Your back arched slightly, moving your back away from the hood of his car and towards his body. His hand lets go of your breast before tracing your figure slowly. His hand raised your skirt slowly before seeing what awaited him.
The gusset of your underwear decorated a thin, wet line before him. “Seems like you were anticipating for this to happen?” Without letting go of your wrists, his free hand went down to your clothed entrance to trace the soaked, thin line with the pad of his thumb. A soft groan escapes from the back of your throat before his fingers forcefully grasp the gusset and move it to the side. “Do me a favor and don’t move, okay?” He lets your wrist go and gets down on his knees to see your fluttering, aching core. “Be still, okay?” He whispers, raising your skirt more, letting it rest on your stomach. Nodding to his words, you laid back on the low rider and waited anxiously.
The sound of fabric ripping filled the space, causing you to look down. The man ripped your underwear, specifically from the gusset, vertically with precision. At the sound, you propped yourself up on the car's hood and looked down. You can only see his soft, wavy brown hair between your legs, leaving so much to the imagination. “I’ll get you new ones, hermosa. Don’t worry, your pretty little head.”
His middle and ring fingerpad lightly traced the entrance of your folds, gathering the clear slick. He brought his fingers to his lips, licking off the clear arousal you left behind, and scooted you closer to him, dragging you down onto the hood of the car, bringing you down to his lips. “Miguel-” You panicked before his nose bumped into your clit. Your hands grasped his thick, wavy black hair, not following his words or demands. “I told you to stay still for me.” He demands, grabbing onto the back of your knees with a grasp that can be mistaken for alligator clips used to jumpstart a car.
“Sorry…!” The apology fell on deaf ears as you mewled to his tongue, licking a long strip on your entrance, letting the flat of his tongue rest on your clit. “Now, stay still, and don’t leave a mess on the hood of my car.” He gruffs.
“I just got this shit painted, princesa.” He pauses before giving your entrance a test lick before delving into you. You seethed through your teeth, feeling his mouth delve into your entrance. The bridge of his nose occasionally bumped into your clit, creating the perfect amount of friction for you to squirm your hips closer to his nose. “You poor thing…” He mumbled before licking a long strip of your core with a flat tongue. “You want it?” He croons, pulling away from your aching entrance. Your fluttering hole ached for his company again, the same sight he saw for the first time months ago. “C’mere…” He grasped onto the back of your knees, sliding you down the hood of the Chevy before your bare cunt made contact with his clothed erection. The heat from his bulge is almost too irresistible not to grind against his aching package, waiting to be accessible under your hands and control.
You looked up from where you were lying down, and the sight before you was a sight you didn’t want to erase. Miguel kept his grasp on you but grated the aching bulge against you. “Please, please, please.” You lingered on your last plea, reaching down to his belt buckle, poorly attempting to unbuckle. “Hold on for a moment.” His hand gently grasped your wrist and moved it away from his bulge. “Let’s prep you for a moment, okay?” You nod with a breathy sigh and lay back, expecting to feel his tongue, which you don’t mind.
But something else entered, enough for you to roll your eyes back in ecstasy and to scream out, allowing your voice to echo in the forest. “I know, baby, I know…” He quiets, planting soft kisses on your temple, keeping his ring and middle finger around your rapid, wavering walls. The soft grinding motions drew out soft mewls from you, enough to soak his fingers almost immediately.
“Let’s raise this.” With his free hand, he reached to the hem of your shirt and yanked it up with vigorous force. The sight of two silver dumbbells was the first thing he saw before him, showing off the sensitive buds. “I didn’t get to see these last time…” With a careful hand, he caressed the soft mound before directing his attention to the sensitive nub, tracing the pad of his fingers around the areola.
He lowers his head down and takes in a sensitive nub into his mouth, allowing his tongue to trace the silver jewelry along the sensitive nub. “Give me a second…!” You mewled out, feeling his teeth lightly tug at the barbell piercing but letting go. “I’ve heard that saliva is a good stimulant to heal this type of piercing…” He mumbles before suckling onto your nub before his fingers slowly thrust into your aching core, awaiting to be stuffed and abused. “Oh shit,” You paused, taking in a shaky breath, feeling his calloused fingers massage your gummy walls. “Oh shit…” You repeated, soon taking labored breaths. “C’mon, princess…” Miguel whispers as he pulls away from your nipple and moves to the other, keeping his fingers at the same slow pace. “Tell me… tell me that it’s too much…” He croons. “Is it too much, princess?”
“No…” You bluff, feeling like a puddle of sap against his fingers at the slow pace. “No? Let’s pick it up, m’kay?” He innocently asks, slowly increasing the pace and curling his ring and middle finger. “Miguel…” You whimpered, at the brink of finishing all over the hood of his Impala. “Don’t even think about it, princess,” Miguel commands, picking the pace up. A yelp escapes the back of your throat, and you soon feel your legs tremble against his hold. “Please, please, please…” You whine, feeling a bit of anticipation to gush out your release. “Don’t,” He croons. “You better not finish. I finished the paint job on this car.”
You looked up with pleading eyes at the brink of tears. “Please, please, please…” You continue the mantra, knowing you are getting on Miguel’s nerves now. “No.” He demands before the familiar, wet slapping noise fills the space around you. “Is it too much?” He pushes the question again, letting the forest area get overwhelmed with a wet slapping noise. “No.” You repeat, too stubborn for your good. “I refuse to believe that. Look at you.”
He paused his words and kept up with rapid motions. “Milking my fingers, your legs trembling under my hold, I think your body says otherwise.”
“Don’t finish on this car’s hood.” He repeats, keeping the same motion and pulling his fingers out of your aching core.
/
Miguel’s Perspective
The look on her face is enough to laugh at. Pathetic. The look on her face made it look like she was a stranded kitten left in the rain, wanting to seek shelter in a warm space away from the cool air of the piney forest. But that wasn’t the case. She was laid out on the hood of my car like a dish served on a silver platter, waiting to be devoured and consumed. Her nervous but anticipated look is enough to send me to the edge. The urge to just take off my pants and to make her drunk on lust came to mind immediately, but no, she needs anticipation and patience other than lust.
The sight of her glistening arousal coating my fingers soon drizzled down onto the hood of the Impala. “I told you to hold it in.” I fumed, seeing the glistening arousal pool onto the hood of the car, creating a small puddle. “God, you can’t even do this one thing correctly.”
I yanked her aching core down to my bulge, seeing her glistening arousal coat a thin layer on the denim of my pants. “C’mere…” Her hands rush down to the belt buckle of my pants, moving in a manic manner to free my aching cock free. “It’s yours. You know what to do with it.”
/
“I don’t…” You replied, playing coy with his words. “I don’t know…” Your hands grasp the band of his boxer, yanking on it playfully. “You know how.” He croons as your hand yanks down his boxer briefs, freeing his aching cock. A low “fuck” escapes him deep from him, and it is enough for you to finish everywhere on the hood of the Impala, literally. The pink mauve-colored tip ached for your attention, showing tiny beads of precum accumulating on the head, with some sliding down his shaft, specifically tracking a prominent vein. “C’mon, you know what to do.” He repeats, wanting you to initiate these events instead.
With a forceful grab, you lead his tip to your aching core and grind it against your aching core. Your core began to kegel against the sensation of his length, feeling it rub against your clit gently. “Don’t tease me,” He insists, bucking his hips, feeling his cock free itself from your grasp. You grasp onto it again, guide his tip into your aching core, and slowly guide him in. “Shit…” You whimper, feeling the familiar pressure push up against your aching core.
“How do you feel bigger than last time?” You whined, slowly sinking into his length. “Take deep breaths for me, m’kay?” He hums, mused by the sight before him. “I know it’s a lot, baby, I know…” You take in deep breaths while he ground the tip against your cervix, to the point where it did hurt a little, but it was pleasurable. “Take your time, it’s okay…” He croons, moving a hand down to your clit, lightly grazing the sensitive bundle of nerves. A breathy whimper is the only response he receives from you.
The soft kisses against your temple are enough to ease you as the soft kisses make you giggle underneath him. “That’s enough,” He breathes out, soon grasping your hips with his hands. “Are we okay?” Miguel questions, allowing his thumb to trace the skin on your hips, specifically the stretchmarks painted on your soft skin. “Yeah, I’m okay…”
The slow thrusts slowly came to a steady pace, allowing you to get comfortable with his size. Soft mewls and whimpers escaped from the back of your throat as you laid back on the hood of the car and felt your breasts bounce a bit from the thrusting. The sight of the silver barbells decorating your nipples while your breasts bounced with his tempo displayed the sight for him. “There we go, you’re getting used to me more now…”
The feeling of the virgencita charm from his necklace lightly booped your nose, occasionally touching your lips, staining the golden charm with your lipgloss. “Is this bothering you?” He chuckles, seeing the charm bump against your lips and nose. “No, not at all…” It was a bluff; the sensation of the chain and charm tickled you while you chased the sensation bubbling against your core.
“You’re almost there?” The slight bulge in your stomach amused Miguel, seeing the bulge appear and disappear with every thrust. He lets go of your hip with one hand and pushes his hand down onto your lower stomach while keeping a steady yet hard pace. “How does that feel?” He questions, looking down to see your reaction. “Yes…” You breathed out, not giving him a proper answer as you squirmed under the pressure rise.
“C’mon, I know you’re almost close…” He praises, bullying his tip into your sopping cunt, no longer worrying about the hood of the car or the paint job that he’s been telling you about since you two arrived at an odd location in the forest. “Finish with me, come on…” He pushes, not caring how loud the two of you are. “Please, Miguel…” You scream out, no longer pleading quietly. “Finish with me.” He croons.
The chase slowly came to an end as the sudden splurge of you squirting everywhere on the hood of the Impala, following along with Miguel cradling you close in his arms, finally giving you a couple of last thrusts into your core. “There we go…” He mumbles, placing a shaky kiss on your temple and slowly pulling out. Your whine greeted his ears as he pulled out his softening cock, and a thin white line at your entrance decorated your cunt, no longer empty. “There we go, keep it in there.” You felt as if your body took a screenshot from laying on the car's hood while the sound of clothes ruffling and a belt clinking filled your ears.
The next few moments felt blurred. You felt Miguel help you off the car's hood and straighten out your now-ruffled top and skirt. “I don’t need anyone else to see you like this,” he mutters before making his way to the vehicle's passenger side. What are you doing?” You huff out, leaning against the side of the car for support. “Give me a moment,” he continues to rummage around before he grasps a small red box in his hand.
“Do you fuck with cigarettes?” He questions. You weakly nod, slowly coming down from your high. “Do you mind which brand?” The sight of the Marlboro flashed your eyes before Miguel nudged the box gently, allowing the two cigarettes to slide out a bit, enough for you and Miguel to grab. You grabbed the cancerous stick and placed it between your tinted pink lips, smeared with pink lipgloss at the corner of your lips. Reaching into his pocket, the lighter looked tiny in his grasp as he flickered on the measly lighter.
“Here,” You reach for the small lighter and take it from him with a gentle grasp, soon flicking at the small wheel. After a couple of flicks at it, the small flame appeared, emitting a tangy orange close to your hand, soon flickering along with the breeze. “Oh…!” You shield the small flickering flame with your free hand, allowing the flame to flicker about before settling its movements.
As he took a deep breath, Miguel reached for the small flame and brought the cigarette closer to it. Without removing the cigarette from his lips, he leaned down towards you and used your flame to light his cigarette. As he did so, he kept his gaze locked on yours, retaining eye contact for a moment longer than necessary. His eyes. His eyes are like embers of fire waiting to be ignited again, waiting for the next moment to be triggered.
“Here…” He grabbed the cigarette and pulled it away from your lips as he inhaled his cigarette slowly. Wary of the lit cigarette between his fingers, he gently grasps your chin and kisses you while exhaling the smoke into your mouth. He slowly pulls away from the soft kiss and lingers eyes on you.
For a moment, there was a glisten in his eye when they softened; it didn’t go unnoticed…

@kodedgeekthings eyo you mentioned wanting a dpxdc prompt for Howard, Batman’s mechanic!
Harold misses fixing toys for kids and in his off hours has taken up the habit of answering questions on forums about machining, electrical, engineering, mechanics, and mechanical design that are often frequented by students.
One day, he comes across a request by a college student who is trying to assemble his own car out of scrap he bought from a local wrecking yard.
Ghostly_Boy states that he has previous experience in machining and can make replacements for broken or too-damaged parts if need be, but he doesn’t know where to start and what specific requirements he needs to reach to ensure it’s street legal.
Harold willing to help, he answers a few of Ghostly Boy’s clarifying questions:
- Great questions!
It’s good to note that if you’re not careful, fixing or making your own car from parts can be a moneysink and can cost you more than a brand new vehicle. - That being said, your first major step to ensuring you can drive the car is to get the title of the body/frame of the car you plan to build. It’ll have the VIN on a plate welded to the frame usually near the lower edge of the windshield wipers on the drivers side. It’s how the DMV identifies vehicles for licensing.
- Generally, you’ll at first get a “wreck out” title that shows the vehicle is listed as a total loss, but if you can assemble the parts for the car with that frame, the DMV can check if it’s properly running and road worthy & license for you to use it on public roads if you’ve done the proper paperwork.
- Once that is done, it’s largely a case of getting the right parts and assembling them. Depending on how much you have to repair, you could be taking on a task that could give a challenge to even a seasoned mechanic. There may be additional paperwork depending on what exactly you need to repair, like the breaks, lights, steering, etc.
- If you want to build the car entirely from scratch, chassis and all, that’s an entirely different story with a much more complicated list of requirements to make it street legal, so getting a frame from a junkyard is a great first step!
- Make sure to keep all bills of sale, junkyard receipts, invoices and manufacturers’ certificates on any major parts you used in building the vehicle to prove its road worthy to the DMV when it’s complete!
Harold doesn’t always answer first but over time he’s found the adventures of this kid amusing and keeps up with it.
Ghostly_Boy keeps the forum updated with his progress:
The kid spontaneously deciding to scrap the wiring system and make his own in a span of 3 days, leaving experienced mechanics on the forum practically screaming at the kid for his updates showing him using random wires he salvaged and pigtailing them together to get the length of wire he needed.
Mixing not only multiple types of wires but ones that didn’t have the protection needed for auto use. DIY-ing his own relay and fuses he didn’t have and connecting the wrong grounds and switches. And planning on leaving the wires unwrapped and loose.
Leaving Ghost to promptly redo the wiring, correctly this time, within 78 hours.
Making a repair of a massive rusted hole on the passenger side by the bumper and the front tire via cutting 1/2in past the rust, grinding it pretty and clean, tac & seam welding the vintage aluminum housing material of a toaster to cover the hole to the response of Harold and many others in the forum just going “… I guess that would work?”
Harold and many others telling the kid that this “ectoplasm” material wasn’t cleared through the EPA’s Clear Air Act and could be illegal to drive with it as it’s fuel source unless he got the emissions tested & the center of gravity of the car adjusted to have the center of gravity a gas car has, it wouldn’t pass Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Nor would the previously untested on material make it easy or quick to get an Emissions testing certificate. Best to just stick with gas.
Removing what he thought was a “skid plate” that turned out to be another rusted out section on the frame on the bottom of his car and repairing it with steel he salvaged from an old medical table he had laying around. (To the multiple slightly confused commenters asking how Ghost had a spare medical table, he replied, “eh, my folks visit every so often and they’ve been giving me things they’re clearing out of the house so they can move closer to my older sister. I just so happened to get the ye olde medical table. They’re an odd couple of folks but that’s why I love them.”)
People just crying at the kid to go to rockauto.com and just buy the damn parts he needs for his car. (A good resource btw)
The kid kept cutting corners to save cash but through the badgering of Harold and many others that he actually would have to spend money to make this car be safe to drive in, he finally got it completed.
Ghost’s post of him leaving DMV waving the updated title to the car in its envelope in the air, titled, “THE DMV FINALLY SAID IT WASN’T A FIRE HAZARD! ONLY TOOK 2 YEARS! THANKS EVERYONE!” Got the most amount of responses he’d ever had with congratulations from lurkers and previous commenters.
Over the course of those two years, Danny learned how to draw his own wiring diagrams, properly solder and weld, and learning to actually plan out his projects so he got it right at least the fifth time instead of the 20th. Not bad for a kid that went straight from graduating high school with a 1.5GPA to construction jobs.
But after finally getting the car approved, Ghostly_Boy returns to the forum with a new problem. Lamenting that his parents keep coming over and “modifying” his car to no longer make it street legal.
At this point, about half of the answers to the submission think it’s either a joke project taken very, very seriously with a good chunk of money behind it, or a kid with parents that have narrowly avoided falling completely down the mad scientist rogue rabbit hole.
After all, what sort of parent would think that the DMV would approve to “anti-ghost missiles” being attached to the outer body of the car? Either way, the submissions always had video attached showing a demonstration, proving that Ghost wasn’t just completely yanking their chain. And a good amount of money would have to be sunken in to not only pay for the fines Ghostly continued to get from the additions to his car, but to actually manufacture and make a unique working product for each plea for help request.
Harold is not only taking notes on some of these defense measures but also decides to bring up the boy to Alfred. Intrigued, they together keep an eye on Ghostly_Boy. Bruce may be their employer, but they can handle a case or two on their own.
- I wanted Danny to try to make smth for himself now that he doesn’t have access to his parent’s lab anymore but he also doesn’t have access to ectoplasm so he’s fairly unfamiliar how to wire things Not for ectoplasmic standards.
Also I wanted to make a prompt where Danny had a good relationship with his parents & went into a fairly realistic job after high school with his fairly bad GPA so he’s saving up for a technical school via construction jobs as he doesn’t like the idea of working fast food for understandable reasons.

Tell us about your current and past motor vehicles
gladly! this is gonna be a long post
Tumblr media
this was my first car, she was a 1984 mercedes 300D turbodiesel. her name was clifford, named after a button on the dash from a defunct security system. in-line five diesel engine, sounded like a truck, was built like a truck, LOVED this car. i paid $600 for her in 2016. she had 308k miles when i bought her, and she went to the scrapyard with 314k the next year when the hood latches broke while i was on the highway and sent the hood into the windshield. i was okay but the repairs were just too much for a $600 car. she was awesome though, a real head turner even with her peeling clearcoat and plumes of diesel smoke
Tumblr media
then there was the corolla! 1999, manual transmission. the best car i’ve ever owned. not my favorite but definitely objectively the best. bought off a friend also for $600, around 210k miles. surprisingly fun to drive, very reliable. drove from north carolina to massachusetts in that car, and then across massachusetts every week. her name was wanda, which carried over from the previous owner. drover her for a little over a year before the brakes failed and i rear ended someone
Tumblr media
i replaced the corolla with an ‘05 mazda3 i called the tick, after the cartoon character. also bought from a friend. kept it through early 2021 i think, drove it through most of early quarantine. i didn’t love this car personally, in large part because the transmission and starter both went out on me within the first two months of ownership and the friend i bought it from was entirely unsympathetic. i sold it to my shitty roommate lol
Tumblr media
and then for some reason my mom gave me a sports car. she bought a new honda civic and handed down her 2004 subaru wrx wagon, with the manual transmission and everything. she’d named it the millennium falcon so i called her falcon. this car was a blast to whip around. that turbo boxer engine sounded amazing and this thing RIPPED on the highway. the biggest issues with it were that it really didn’t have all that much character on the road, and it took premium gas, so fill ups were EXPENSIVE. i sold her after having her for a few months because the clutch went out and i was quoted $2k to replace it because that’s what happens when you have a sports car. sold it as is to a guy with two other wrxs who wanted to fix it up and use it as a work car
Tumblr media
this is the current baby! bit of an older picture because she looks uhhh worse these days but this is clifford jr the 2001 jeep cherokee xj. i’ve learned so much with this car, done a bunch of the work on her myself. she’s a fixer upper im reaching my limit on but she’s served me remarkably well and is my favorite car i’ve owned. not fast, not good on gas, but god she’s got some character. just rolled over 256k miles
like i said i’m reaching my wits end with the jeep, every time i fix something two more things break, and i can’t afford for her to keep being a money pit. so i’m starting to save for something else, ideally a late 80s honda or toyota, or a panther body sedan, like a ford crown victoria or mercury grand marquis

here i come with more jean questions im sorry...do you see him as a "take the rails" guy that he takes care of much everything 🤔 imo 50/50 he wants to be the "man" but lowkey he's unreliable IAHDJJSJS 😞✊
omg please never apologize i love answering questions!!! 🥰 especially for jean
my headcanon for jean is that he definitely feels like he needs to be "the man", even though he's not very good at stereotypical manly tasks.
like richboy!jean absolutely does not know a thing about cars. he can't change your oil. can't switch out your tires. can't even replace your windshield wipers 💀 but if you even joke about going to take your car to a mechanic, he gets all huffy and tells you that he can do it himself. (thankfully he's got enough money to cover the cost of repairs when he inevitably fucks it up)
but jean's smart, too. so he knows when he's bad at something and he'll put the work into learning and getting better so that you can rely on him. maybe this winter he screws up putting on your windshield wipers and they fly off on the highway when you're driving... but the next time he replaces them, they're perfect.
and eventually, after he tries and fails at all of these little tasks around the house, he goes from unreliable to daddy someone you can count on 🥰

How Ottawa Weather Impacts Your Windshield and When to Replace It
Tumblr media
Ottawa's weather is known for its extremes, from frigid winters to hot summers, and these conditions can significantly affect your vehicle's windshield. Understanding how the weather impacts your windshield and knowing when to replace it can help you maintain safety and avoid costly repairs. Here’s a detailed look at the weather-related factors that influence your windshield and tips on when replacement becomes necessary.
Winter Challenges: Ice, Snow, and Temperature Fluctuations
Ice and Snow: Ottawa's winters bring heavy snowfall and icy conditions. When ice forms on your windshield, scraping it off can cause small chips and scratches. If these minor damages are left unattended, they can grow into larger cracks. Additionally, the expansion and contraction caused by temperature changes can worsen existing damage.
Temperature Fluctuations: During winter, your windshield experiences constant temperature changes as you move from the cold outdoors to a heated car interior. This rapid transition can cause the glass to expand and contract, potentially leading to stress cracks. Even a small chip can quickly turn into a large crack under these conditions.
Salt and Debris: Road salt and debris kicked up by other vehicles can also chip or scratch your windshield. These small damages, if not repaired promptly, can compromise the structural integrity of the glass.
Summer Heat: A Different4Kind of Threat
Thermal Stress:In the summer, the intense heat can cause thermal stress on your windshield. Direct sunlight and high temperatures cause the glass to expand. If there are any pre-existing chips or cracks, the expansion can cause them to spread rapidly.
Rapid Cooling:Just as rapid heating can cause stress, sudden cooling, such as blasting the air conditioning on a hot day, can also lead to cracks. The contrast between the hot exterior and the cool interior can create stress points that eventually turn into larger cracks.
When to Replace Your Windshield
Knowing when to replace your windshield is crucial for maintaining your safety on the road. Here are some signs that it’s time for a replacement:
Large Cracks:Any crack larger than a dollar bill or that stretches across the windshield is a clear sign that replacement is necessary. Large cracks can obstruct your view and weaken the structural integrity of your windshield.
Multiple Chips:Several small chips or cracks can compromise the strength of your windshield. If you notice multiple damages, it’s best to opt for a replacement rather than multiple repairs.
Edge Cracks:Cracks that originate at the edge of the windshield are particularly concerning as they can spread quickly. These cracks can compromise the bonding between the glass and the vehicle frame, making replacement essential.
00Impaired Vision:If any damage obstructs your line of sight, it’s crucial to replace the windshield. Driving with impaired vision is hazardous and can lead to accidents.
Compromised Structural Integrity:The windshield plays a vital role in the structural integrity of your vehicle. If it’s damaged, it may not provide adequate support in the event of a collision or rollover. Ensuring your windshield is in good condition is essential for your safety.
Preventative Measures
To extend the life of your windshield and avoid frequent replacements, consider the following preventative measures:
Park in the Shade: Whenever possible, park your car in the shade or use a windshield sun protector to minimize thermal stress during hot weather.
Avoid Rapid Temperature Changes: Gradually warm up your car in the winter rather than using hot water to melt ice or quickly cranking up the heat. Similarly, avoid blasting the air conditioning on high immediately upon entering a hot car.
Repair Chips Promptly: Address minor chips and cracks as soon as they occur. Small damages are easier and cheaper to repair, preventing them from spreading and necessitating a full replacement.
Regular Cleaning: Keep your windshield clean and free from debris. Regularly check for small chips and cracks, especially after extreme weather conditions.
Ottawa’s weather, with its icy winters and hot summers, poses unique challenges to the health of your windshield. Understanding how these conditions impact your windshield and knowing
when to replace it can help you stay safe on the road and avoid costly repairs. By taking preventative measures and addressing damages promptly, you can ensure that your windshield remains in good condition year-round. 5. Expert Installation: Experienced technicians will follow precise guidelines and use specialized tools to ensure the new windshield is installed correctly, preventing any leaks or structural issues.

Fear not. In this blog post, we'll explore ten simple car maintenance tasks that you can do yourself to keep your four-wheeled buddy in tip-top shape. No need for a magic wand; just a few tools, some elbow grease, and a playful spirit. Let’s begin, shall we?
1. Changing the Oil: Keep Your Engine Purring
Car maintenance task number one: changing the oil. Your car's engine is like a heart, and oil is its lifeblood. Regularly changing the oil is essential to keep your engine purring like a contented kitten. All you need is the right grade of oil, an oil filter, a drain pan, and voilà. You're all set to perform this easy-peasy maintenance task.
2. Spark Plug Replacement: Ignite the Fun
Spark plugs play a crucial role in your car's ignition system, igniting the air-fuel mixture and powering your joyrides. Over time, they can get worn out and affect your car's performance.
But fear not. Replacing spark plugs is a breeze: just make sure to use the correct spark plugs for your car model. And remember, sparks will fly but in a good way.
3. Tire Rotation: Dance Your Way to Balanced Treads
Ever noticed uneven wear on your car's tires? It's time to choreograph a tire rotation dance. Give your tires a twirl and swap their positions to ensure even tread wear. This simple car maintenance routine will not only extend the life of your tires but also keep your car's handling smooth and steady.
4. Air Filter Replacement: Let Your Engine Breathe Freely
Imagine your car's engine taking a deep breath of fresh air. Well, that's what happens when you replace the air filter regularly. A clogged air filter can hinder airflow, affecting performance and fuel efficiency. So, set your engine free and replace that filter. It's like yoga for your car.
5. Battery Check: Keep the Energy Flowing
No, we're not talking about a science experiment; this is a simple car maintenance task. Your car's battery is like its life support system, providing the energy needed to power all the cool gadgets and start the engine.
Check the battery terminals for corrosion and ensure they're snugly connected. You'll keep the energy flowing and prevent any unwelcome surprises on the road.
6. Brake Pad Replacement: Halt in Style
Are you ready to put the brakes on this car maintenance adventure? Your brakes are your car's best friend when it comes to safety, so make sure they're up to the task. If you hear squealing or notice reduced braking performance, it's time to replace those brake pads. Halt in style and keep your car stopping on a dime!
7. Headlight and Taillight Bulb Replacement: Light Up the Night
Car maintenance under the stars: how romantic. But this time, we're not stargazing; we're talking about your car's lights. Dim or burnt-out headlights and taillights can put a damper on your nighttime travels. Luckily, replacing these bulbs is a bright idea and a quick fix. By doing it, you’ll keep your car shining like a beacon in the night.
8. Coolant Check: Stay Cool, Calm, and Collected

planned obsolescence
I just reblogged a post about sewing machines and I have feelings that aren’t appropriate to add to the post.
Because I have no beef with what anyone is saying that post. All good points in my book.
I just have such mixed feelings when talking about how great old tech is and how all new tech is made to be terribly breakable and almost impossible to repair. I mean, I agree. I tried to send a set of Bose headphones to be repaired, and they just gave me a new pair??? There are no repair shops in my area that could even fix them, it’s insane. I have a sewing machine from 1970 that still runs great as long as I keep an eye on my tension and a machine from the early 2000s in my office just loves to eat needles and burn out for no reason.
But...
There is a reason for some stuff to be made more breakable and its not just corporate greed. Modern sewing machines are just a fuck ton more complicated than a treadle singer because it does more stuff. Most of it is useless, but it can also do zigzag stitches, serge, embroider, and more. To keep costs down, everything is made a lightly and plastic as possible which means that it is going to break.
I think the better example is cars.
You used to be able to fix your car yourself, bang out dents in your steel fender and change out the engine with minimal hassle. Now with modern cars you need a software engineering degree to replace the stereo. Well, that’s because cars have automatic breaking sensors, wifi, and built in navigation. Does anyone’s car really need those things? probably not. But the reason cars crumple in a crash is not to make you spend money getting a pro to repair it, its to keep you alive enough to spend money getting it repaired. If you are in a chevy Belair from the 50′s, you are going to die in a moderately high speed accident. You could be decapitated by your own windshield until 1937.
Things are made to be used and discarded because it is economically advantageous to do so. Tools and the machines of our lives should be made tougher and easily repairable across the board. And. The tools of today are made to do different things than the tools of that past, which also makes them more vulnerable to falling apart because it isn’t a case of push the pedal with your foot to stitch forward or back, the system is so much more complicated and there is an inevitable breakage involved in making something that does practically everything.

Title: Rainy Day Car Care: How to Safeguard Your Vehicle in Wet Weather
Introduction:
Rainy days can be challenging for car owners, as the combination of wet roads, reduced visibility, and potential water damage poses risks to your vehicle. However, with a few proactive steps and careful maintenance, you can protect your car from the effects of rainy weather. In this article, we will provide valuable tips to help you safeguard your vehicle and ensure it stays in optimal condition during wet conditions.
Maintain a Clean Exterior:
Regularly washing your car is crucial to protect its exterior from dirt, grime, and corrosive elements carried by rainwater. Additionally, applying a protective wax coating will help repel water and prevent water spots, keeping your car looking pristine. Pay attention to the undercarriage as well, as it is susceptible to debris buildup. A clean exterior will minimize the risk of damage caused by contaminants present in rainwater.
Check and Maintain Wipers:
Your windshield wipers play a vital role in maintaining visibility during rainy weather. Inspect the wiper blades for signs of wear or damage, such as cracking or splitting. Replace worn-out blades promptly to ensure efficient water clearance from the windshield. Additionally, make sure your wiper fluid reservoir is filled with a rain-specific formula to effectively remove grime and provide clear visibility.
Ensure Proper Tire Traction:
Wet roads can be slippery, compromising your car's traction and handling. Regularly check your tire tread depth and condition to ensure adequate grip on wet surfaces. Consider switching to all-season or rain-specific tires for improved performance. Properly inflated tires also contribute to better traction, so monitor and maintain the recommended tire pressure levels. Good tire traction is essential for safe driving in rainy conditions.
Protect the Interior:
Water damage can affect your car's interior if rainwater finds its way inside. Inspect the rubber seals around doors, windows, and the trunk for any signs of wear or damage. Replace damaged seals promptly to prevent water leaks. It's also advisable to use waterproof seat covers or invest in water-resistant floor mats to protect the upholstery and carpets from moisture. Dry out any wet spots immediately to prevent mold or mildew growth.
Park in Safe Locations:
When parking during rainy weather, opt for sheltered areas whenever possible. A covered parking spot, such as a garage or carport, will protect your vehicle from direct exposure to rain. If covered parking is unavailable, look for spots that offer some protection, such as under trees or other structures. Avoid parking near areas prone to flooding or beneath trees with overhanging branches that could potentially cause damage.
Drive with Caution:
Rainy conditions require cautious driving to ensure your safety and the well-being of your vehicle. Reduce your speed and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, as it takes longer to stop on wet roads. Avoid sudden maneuvers and hard braking, as they can lead to skidding or loss of control. Additionally, be mindful of hydroplaning, which occurs when your tires lose contact with the road surface due to a layer of water. If hydroplaning happens, release the accelerator and steer straight until traction is regained.
Post-Rain Inspection and Maintenance:
After driving in the rain, take the time to inspect your car for any signs of damage. Check for water accumulation in the trunk, footwells, or other areas. Dry out any wet spots and address potential leaks promptly. Also, inspect your vehicle's undercarriage for signs of rust or corrosion that may have occurred due to exposure to water and road salt. If you notice any issues, consult a professional mechanic for necessary repairs.
Conclusion:
By implementing these car care tips, you can effectively safeguard your vehicle during rainy weather. Maintaining a clean exterior, ensuring proper visibility, and protecting the interior are all crucial steps. Additionally, cautious driving, parking in safe locations, and post-rain inspections contribute to keeping your car in optimal condition. Remember, regular maintenance and timely repairs will help extend the life of your vehicle and ensure it remains reliable even in wet weather conditions. With these precautions, you can confidently navigate rainy days while safeguarding your prized possession. for any service visit- shaktiautomobiles.com

How to Identify Common Signs That You Need a Windshield Replacement
Tumblr media
Your car's windshield is not just a piece of glass; it's a critical safety component that protects you from the elements and ensures structural integrity during accidents. However, over time, it can become damaged or compromised, posing risks to both you and your vehicle. Recognizing the signs that indicate you need a windshield replacement is crucial for your safety on the road. In this blog post, we'll discuss some common signs that indicate it's time to replace your windshield.
1. Cracks and Chips:
One of the most obvious signs that you need a windshield replacement is the presence of cracks or chips. These can occur due to various reasons, such as flying debris, temperature changes, or impacts from minor accidents. While small chips may seem insignificant, we can quickly worsen, especially when exposed to temperature fluctuations or additional stress from driving. Cracks that obstruct your line of sight or extend across the windshield compromise its structural integrity and should be addressed promptly.
2. Spiderweb Cracks:
Spiderweb cracks, also known as starburst or radial cracks, resemble a spider's web with multiple branches extending from a central point. These cracks often result from significant impacts, such as collisions or heavy objects striking the windshield. Spiderweb cracks are more severe than single-line cracks or chips and can compromise the overall strength of the windshield, increasing the risk of shattering upon impact. If you notice spiderweb cracks on your windshield, it's essential to replace it as soon as possible.
3. Bullseye Damage:
Bullseye damage is characterized by a circular impact point with concentric rings radiating outward, resembling a target. Like spiderweb cracks, bullseye damage is typically caused by high-velocity impacts, such as rocks or debris hitting the windshield. While small bullseye damage may seem minor, it can weaken the structural integrity of the glass and compromise its ability to withstand further impacts. Ignoring bullseye damage can lead to larger cracks and eventual windshield failure, making prompt replacement necessary.
4. Discoloration or Hazing:
Over time, exposure to sunlight, environmental contaminants, and harsh weather conditions can cause discoloration or hazing on the windshield. This often manifests as a cloudy or foggy appearance on the glass, reducing visibility and diminishing the aesthetic appeal of your vehicle. While minor discoloration may be remedied through professional cleaning or polishing, severe hazing or discoloration that persists despite cleaning efforts may indicate deeper damage to the windshield's surface or underlying layers, necessitating replacement.
5. Water Leakage:
A properly installed windshield should form a watertight seal with the vehicle's frame, preventing water from entering the interior cabin. If you notice water leakage around the edges of the windshield, especially during rain or car washes, it may indicate deteriorating seals or improper installation. Water leakage not only compromises the integrity of the windshield but also increases the risk of rust and corrosion within the vehicle's structure. Addressing water leakage promptly by replacing the windshield and repairing any damaged seals is essential to prevent further damage and maintain a dry interior.
Your windshield plays a crucial role in ensuring your safety and the structural integrity of your vehicle. Recognizing the signs that indicate you need a windshield replacement is essential for maintaining optimal visibility, protecting yourself and your passengers, and preventing further damage to your vehicle. If you observe any of the common signs mentioned in this blog post, it's advisable to consult a professional auto glass technician to assess the condition of your windshield and recommend appropriate replacement options. Investing in timely windshield replacement not only enhances your driving experience but also contributes to the overall safety and longevity of your vehicle.
