Water Filtration Riverside, CA - 92506
There are five basic types of water filters: Mechanical, Absorption, Sequestration, Ion Exchange, and Reverse Osmosis. Each type uses a different method for water purification:
A mechanical filter physically removes contaminants from your water system by using a mesh or pore structure.
An absorption water filter is the most common household filter. Most use granulate active carbon (GAC) to absorb unpleasant odors or odd tastes.
Sequestration water filters use chemicals to keep any calcium or magnesium in the water from causing corrosion or scale to form.
An ion exchange water filtration system softens your water by exchanging magnesium and calcium ions with sodium or hydrogen ions.
Reverse Osmosis uses a more complicated but very effective method of filtering your water. It forces your water through several different filters. This makes it more expensive but also, when operating correctly, provides 99.9% pure water.
Some residences and businesses may even have a combination water filtration system.

More Under The Cut!
"I like your Halloween costume,” You yell, slurring a little, as you lean across the kitchen counter in the loud house party you’ve been at all night. The man - barely, if you are being honest - looks back at you with surprise in his eyes. He’s dressed in a very fitted outfit, a white jacket and blue slacks, and is gripping the strap of a weapon harness with the grip of a katana sticking out the back. Above him, a looming gray mass stares down at you, an intricate, unblinking puppet with the largest teeth you’ve ever seen, and it seems to be attached to his shoulder from the way it’s sitting. It must weigh a ton, and you can’t help the fact that your eyes keep glancing up to it.
The music at the party is almost too loud and the drinks almost too strong for you to hear his response, but you lean in a little closer to make out the words. “My costume?”
You smile then. “Yeah! That puppet thing is really cool! Did you make it?” You ask, pointing up at the gray figure, and now it’s teeth are dripping with some sort of water feature. “It must have taken you forever.”
“My puppet?” He seems confused before he’s turning slightly and staring at the thing nearly hovering above him, and when he brings his eyes back to yours, he is less confused and more shocked. “You can see her.”
“Of course I can! She’s kind of taking up the whole party,” You laugh, sipping down the sloshing liquid in your fourth - fifth? - red solo cup full of who knows what. This thing puts your angel wings and tiny sequin dress to shame. “What are you supposed to be?”
He considers your face for a moment before putting his hand on your arm and pushing the drink away from your mouth. “This isn’t a costume.”
“What?”
“This isn’t a costume!”
“What?!” You yell, the music feeling like it gets louder every time he tries to talk to you. He shakes his head and leans in further.
“I’m Yuta Okkotsu,” He finally relents, putting his hand out, and you can hear this one.
“Yuta Okkotsu, nice name,” You lean in yourself, and for you, it’s not about how well he can hear you. While the first thing you noticed about this guy was the giant puppet thing he had, the second and more important thing was just how unbelievably attractive he was. You offer your own hand and name to him, and soon, your fingers are lingering against his as you give him a polite smile. “Yuta Okkotsu, what do you do for work?”
Work seems to be a touchy subject because all he’s able to do is open and close his mouth over and over again for a long while. “It’s a long story,” He says after a moment, looking down at where your hands are touching, and the mysterious act is starting to grind your gears a little bit, but you’ve done a lot worse for some mediocre dick with fewer drinks in your system. No one can ever say you’re not determined.
“I’m still in school,” You hiccup a little, “Masters degree.”’
“Wow. In?”
“Whatever will make me the most attractive,” You smile deviously, quirking an eyebrow at him as your fingers come up his arm a little bit.
The way you’re being so forward brings a blush to his face that softens his features; it makes him look quite young, and you wonder for a minute if he’s younger than you are. Before you can talk yourself out of pursuing him further, though, you hear a sharp hiss from above. You glance back up at the puppet on his shoulder, and either the drinks are really hitting you hard now or she got closer to you. It seems her teeth are now dripping with saliva down onto you, and it sends a cold chill down your spine and makes your breath catch in your throat. You’re close to dipping, bowing out, when his hand finds your arm. His touch is gentle, and it brings you back to him, down to Earth. He’s smiling softly at you when you finally look at him.
“Would you like to go upstairs?”
Easy is as easy does or whatever that saying is.

Wellness Water Filtration Systems Philadelphia PA
The Vital Role of Wellness Water Filtration Systems in Philadelphia, PA
In the heart of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia’s residents are increasingly turning their focus toward wellness and healthier living. Among the essential components of this lifestyle shift is the quality of water consumed daily. As concerns about the purity and safety of tap water grow, wellness water filtration systems have become indispensable in many Philadelphian homes. This blog delves into the significance, benefits, and options for wellness water filtration systems in Philadelphia, PA.
Understanding Philadelphia's Water Quality Challenges
Philadelphia, a city known for its rich history and cultural vibrancy, sources its drinking water from the Schuylkill and Delaware Rivers. Despite rigorous treatment processes, several factors can affect the quality of the water that eventually flows from the tap:
Aging Infrastructure: Many parts of Philadelphia still have old plumbing systems that can leach lead into the water.
Chemical Disinfection: Chlorine and chloramines, used to disinfect water, can leave behind unpleasant tastes and potentially harmful by-products.
Emerging Contaminants: Pharmaceuticals, personal care products, and microplastics are increasingly being detected in water supplies, raising concerns about their long-term effects on health.
Seasonal Variations: Weather patterns and environmental changes can cause fluctuations in water quality, affecting the concentration of various pollutants.
Given these challenges, it’s no surprise that more Philadelphians are investing in advanced water filtration systems to ensure their water is not just safe, but also contributes positively to their overall wellness.
What Makes Wellness Water Filtration Systems Unique?
Wellness water filtration systems are designed to go beyond basic purification. They focus on enhancing the health benefits of water, making it an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. Here’s what sets them apart:
Multi-Stage Filtration
These systems typically employ a combination of technologies to tackle a wide spectrum of contaminants:
Activated Carbon: Removes chlorine, bad tastes, and odors.
Reverse Osmosis: Filters out dissolved solids, heavy metals, and other impurities.
UV Purification: Kills bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms.
Ion Exchange: Reduces water hardness and removes specific contaminants like lead.
Alkaline and Mineral Enhancement
Many wellness systems adjust the pH of water to make it more alkaline, which some believe can help neutralize acid in the body and improve hydration. They also often reintroduce essential minerals like calcium and magnesium, which are beneficial for health.
Antioxidant Properties
Some advanced systems are designed to enhance the antioxidant properties of water, which can help combat free radicals in the body. This can contribute to better overall health and reduce the risk of certain diseases.
Customization
Wellness water filtration systems can be tailored to address specific issues in Philadelphia’s water supply. This ensures that you’re not only getting clean water but also water that’s optimized for your health needs.

4. Kangen Water Machines
These machines are popular for their ability to produce ionized, alkaline water with adjustable pH levels. Kangen water is touted for its potential health benefits, including improved hydration and antioxidant properties.
5. Pelican Water Filters
Pelican’s systems combine carbon filtration with salt-free water softening, effectively reducing chlorine, chloramines, and other contaminants. They offer whole-house solutions that provide clean, great-tasting water.
How to Choose the Right System for Your Philadelphia Home
Selecting the best wellness water filtration system depends on several factors:
Water Quality Assessment: Start by understanding the specific contaminants present in your water. You can obtain a water quality report from the Philadelphia Water Department or conduct a home water test.
Budget Considerations: Wellness water systems vary in cost, from affordable countertop models to premium whole-house installations. Determine your budget and choose a system that offers the best value for your needs.
Installation and Maintenance: Consider the ease of installation and ongoing maintenance. Some systems require professional setup and regular filter changes, while others are more user-friendly.
Health Preferences: Decide if additional features like alkaline water or mineral infusion align with your health goals.

Philadelphia residents have several options for purchasing wellness water filtration systems:
Local Dealers: Companies like Best Water Solutions and Culligan of Greater Philadelphia offer expert advice, professional installation, and local support.
Online Retailers: Websites such as Amazon and FilterWater.com provide a wide range of products and customer reviews to guide your decision.
Specialty Stores: Health food stores and wellness shops in Philadelphia often carry high-quality water filtration systems focused on health and wellness.

These systems not only purify your water but also enhance its quality by adding beneficial minerals and improving its pH balance. By understanding your water’s needs, exploring available options, and choosing the right system, you can enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing your water is safe, clean, and health-enhancing.

Why Your Home Should Have a Whole House Water System
In today’s world, the quality of the water we consume has never been more crucial. While most households rely on municipal water supplies or private wells, not all sources are created equal, and contaminants can make their way into your home's water system. This is why investing in a whole-house water filtration system is not just a luxury but a necessity. A properly installed and maintained whole-house water system can offer numerous benefits, from improved health and well-being to enhanced longevity of home appliances. However, it is essential to note that not all systems are created equal; selecting a system that is tailored to the specific needs of your household and the unique composition of your water supply is paramount.
Understanding Whole House Water Systems
A whole house water filtration system, often referred to as a point-of-entry (POE) system, filters the water at the main entry point into your home, ensuring that all the water used for drinking, bathing, cooking, and washing is clean and safe. These systems are designed to remove a wide range of contaminants, including chlorine, sediment, heavy metals, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), pesticides, and even bacteria and viruses.
Key Components of a Whole House Water System
A comprehensive whole-house water filtration system typically includes:
·   Pre-Filters: These filters are designed to remove larger particles like sediment, rust, and silt, which can clog pipes and damage household appliances.
·   Carbon Filters: Activated carbon filters are effective at removing chlorine, chloramine, VOCs, and other chemicals that affect the taste and odor of water.
·   Water Softeners: These components address hard water issues by removing calcium and magnesium ions, which can cause scale buildup in pipes and appliances.
·   UV Filters: For households concerned with bacterial contamination, UV filters can kill bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens without adding any chemicals to the water.
·   Post-Filters: These are used to capture any remaining particles, ensuring that the water delivered to every faucet in your home is of the highest quality.
Benefits of Installing a Whole House Water System
1. Enhanced Health and Safety
Contaminated water can harbor harmful substances that pose significant health risks. Even if your water source is considered safe, it can still contain traces of chemicals, heavy metals, and microorganisms. A whole house water system ensures that every drop of water in your home is filtered, providing clean, pure water for drinking, cooking, and bathing. This is particularly important for individuals with compromised immune systems, children, and the elderly, who are more vulnerable to contaminants.
2. Improved Skin and Hair Health
Chlorine and other chemicals commonly found in tap water can strip natural oils from your skin and hair, leading to dryness, irritation, and damage. With a whole house water system, you can enjoy softer skin and shinier hair, as the filtration process removes these harsh chemicals, leaving your water free from irritants.
3. Protection for Your Home’s Plumbing and Appliances
Hard water, which contains high levels of calcium and magnesium, can cause scale buildup in pipes and appliances, reducing their efficiency and lifespan. By installing a water softener as part of your whole house water system, you can prevent these issues, leading to lower maintenance costs and increased longevity for appliances such as water heaters, dishwashers, and washing machines.
4. Better Tasting and Smelling Water
Municipal water often contains chlorine and other chemicals used for disinfection, which can leave an unpleasant taste and odor. A whole house water system with activated carbon filters can remove these chemicals, resulting in water that tastes and smells fresh and clean, making it more enjoyable to drink.
5. Environmental Benefits
By reducing the need for bottled water, a whole-house water system can significantly cut down on plastic waste. Additionally, these systems often operate without the need for electricity, making them an eco-friendly choice for sustainable living.
Why Customization Matters: Choosing the Right System for Your Water
Not all water supplies are the same, and this is why it is crucial to choose a system that is specifically designed to address the unique contaminants present in your water. A one-size-fits-all approach can lead to inefficiencies and less-than-optimal results. Working with a company that offers personalized water testing and system design is essential to ensure that the filtration process effectively addresses your specific water quality issues.
For instance, if your water has high levels of iron or sulfur, a standard carbon filter may not be sufficient. A tailored system with specialized filters can provide a more comprehensive solution, ensuring that all contaminants are adequately addressed. H2O Health Water & Health Solutions excels in designing and installing whole-house water systems that meet the specific needs of your household, ensuring that you receive the highest quality water possible.
Maintaining Your Whole House Water System
Regular maintenance is key to ensuring the ongoing performance and longevity of your whole house water system. This includes replacing filters as needed, checking for scale buildup, and monitoring the overall function of the system. A reliable water filtration provider will offer maintenance services and support to keep your system running smoothly.
Maintenance Tips
·   Replace Filters Regularly: Depending on the quality of your water and the type of filters used, you may need to replace filters every 3 to 6 months.
·   Monitor Water Pressure: A drop in water pressure can indicate that a filter is clogged and needs replacement.
·   Schedule Professional Inspections: Regular inspections by a qualified technician can help identify any issues before they become major problems.
Invest in Your Health and Home
A whole house water system is an investment in your family’s health, the longevity of your home’s plumbing, and the overall quality of your daily life. By ensuring that every drop of water in your home is clean and safe, you can enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing your water is free from harmful contaminants. Remember, the key to a successful whole-house water system is customization—finding a system that is specifically designed for your water’s unique characteristics.

The oak and the wind
Paring: Abraham x reader
Synopsis: Abraham comes and go in your life, and that’s all right
Warnings: kissing, oral (m receiving), p in v sex, kissing, biting, a dash of spanking.
A/N: reader is AFAB but not described. Where needed, they/them pronouns used.
NSFW and 18+ only please!
The rain is pelting against the window as the weather progresses from quiet to a violent spring storm that makes the wind howl through the trees around your cottage. On the ground floor the typewriter lays abandoned on the typing desk, the sentence you were working on half written when Abraham came knocking on your door.
You snuggle closer to his warmth trying to focus on his deep, slow breathing under your ear, to go back to sleep; the branches slapping against the windows have awoken you and Lord Morpheus evades you now.
You’re not sure when Abraham has arrived, he comes and goes like the wind, knocking on your door and then disappearing for months; it surprises you that he is sleeping by your side: he doesn't, usually, preferring to go back to his caravan.
You wonder why he’s still in your bed, he’s not the kind of man to talk about himself, or his feelings, all you have to go is your hypothesis, and that’s fine: you’ve never expected anything more than this from Abraham.
You know he cares, in his own way, by bringing you fresh wild game or chopping wood for you, but he’s never asked you to leave with him, even though you could, you’re an author, all you need is your typewriter and a fresh ream of paper. But that’s not who you two are, how you two operate: if he’s the wind, you’re the centennial oak with its roots firmly planted on the ground.
You never wanted more from him than what he’s happy to give you, and it’s the same for him, who fully knows you can’t live without walls around you, and a roof and pipes and all the issues that come with living in a house.
Quietly you slip from Abraham’s loose embrace; since the story in your head doesn't want to let you sleep, you opt to go downstairs and make yourself a cup of tea.
You decide to wear only the dressing gown, spring has almost arrived and the storm hasn’t lowered the temperature drastically, plus you’re going to rekindle the fire that’s now just embers: that’s going to be enough when you’re going to sit on the old armchair with your notebook, curled in your knitted blanket.
You still have ideas swimming in your brain, a whole chapter outlined, which you didn’t have the chance to write because Abraham popped up unexpectedly; unfortunately your typewriter is too noisy to be used without risking waking him up, tomorrow you’ll type everything down but you need this chapter on paper.
Downstairs you don't even bother with the lights, the whole system is faulty and it doesn't work when it rains: another big expense that could be taken care of, if only your mother and her horrid second husband would stop playing the lord and lady of the mansion and downsize to a cottage, but no, you have the title and shoulder the expenses, but they need to keep up appearances.
The kitchen is built where the windows into the property are, which give you the chance to stare into the dark as you wait for the water to boil.
“Why are you awake?”
Abraham’s sleepy voice has you jump out of your skin, a hand clutching the neck of the dressing gown as your heart tries to explode out of your chest.
“Abraham!” You shriek, still breathless.
He is midway down the stairs, he’s wearing only his briefs and his usually perfectly styled hair are now sticking everywhere, softening his stern visage, giving him a youthful and endearing appearance.
His naked feet slap on the ancient floorboards as he advances towards you, his hand scratches his muscled chest, marked with new ink you’ve haven’t traced yet with your fingertips. His tanned skin and the chain around his neck seem to glow in the low light of the fire and the candles, the blue of his eyes still clouded with sleep.
“Aren’t you cold?”
Abraham squints and you, to then shrug: he is used to the cold and your cottage is always too warm for his tastes.
“You haven’t answered my question, love.”
He stalks towards you, wide shoulders and tick muscles, his powerful energy filling every corner of your home.
“I couldn’t sleep, the story doesn’t want to let me go.”
“I don’t know how you make it. Pull stories out of your brain.”
You stare at him, surprised, you two rarely talk about yourselves.
“I have no idea. No author does. We are merely the  puppets of the muse that’s playing with us.”
“You are making no sense.”
Abraham stares at you quizzically: you’re such an enigma when you talk about your job, if writing can be called that. Most of the time you sound like a maniac, or someone possessed, plus he’s seen you wander about the woods while reading, and how you don’t fall on your face is beyond him.
You’re strange and different from everyone he knows and he’s often wondered if that's the reason he comes back to you, to your bed that smells of lavender and old books.
“Cuppa?”
You pop an old cup, decorated with flowers, in front of his face, but that’s not what he’s after.
He crowds you against the old wood of the furniture, his warmth seeps through the thick material of your dressing gown and you feel your body react to it, as if he hasn’t already quenched your thirst for him, making you beg and moan like a whore.
“I think I need something else, love.”
The low growl of his voice, paired to the way his thumb sweeps on your lower lip, makes your knees tremble and you follow your body’s instinct, kneeling on the floor, at level with his straining cock still trapped in his briefs.
You rise your eyes to his stern ones, silently asking for permission, which comes in the form of his big hand in your loose hair, guiding your face towards his manhood; you don’t need any more prompting, fingers grabbing the elastic to pull the cotton down his muscled legs, letting his erection spring free in front of your waiting mouth.
You don’t even notice him kicking his briefs away, your lips already on his weeping head, smearing the precum on your lips, his musky taste making you moan, tongue licking all he’s already giving you.
“Stop teasing.”
He growls again, big hand now cupping your head firmly to control your movements when his fingers grab your unruly strands, pushing his cock into your wet mouth and you let him use you how he sees fit.
You slowly bob your head up and down, taking every inch of him with every pass, spit wetting your chin as he advances mercilessly, until his head meets the back of your throat, making you moan as you try to swallow his girthy cock with desperate whines of need. His pushes become faster and more violent, him needing the velvet of your throat like he needs air now, wanting to feel you fully.
“Stop playing around.” He says through gritted teeth.
Your hands grab him to push him deeper, to force your throat to submit to his invasion and his hips kick against your face when you swallow around him, welcoming him with a long moan that almost breaks his control.
“Minx!”
He barks, before starting to fuck your throat with with deep pushes that force your face closer to his hips, depriving you of air, his fingers biting your scalp now that he has to keep your face in place to fuck you to his leisure. You try to whine, to pull your head back, but he’s not letting you, his cock ruthlessly breaching your throat, hips grinding against your tears streaked face, until your eyes roll back in your head, the lack of oxygen almost making you faint.
When he releases you, you cough, precum and spit falling from your lips. Desperate for air and for him, your hand curls around his cock to keep jacking him as you mouth at his balls, licking the mess that’s already leaked there, hungry and desperate for his taste in your mouth.
Your lips find his cock again and now they form a loose O around his member that he can fuck as you suck your cheeks in for friction as your hand finds your center.
“What are you doing?”
Abraham’s cock leaves your mouth and his hand curls around your wrist, cruelly stopping your release.
“Please.” You beg pathetically. “Please, I need it.” And you’re not sure if it’s his cock or your orgasm.
Abraham’s eyes soften for a second, you’re so pretty when you’re desperate for him.
“You’ll come, on my cock though.”
He says with a strained voice, you drive him mad and you have no idea.
“Don’t you want to spend yourself here?”
Your free hand opens your nightgown, showing your luscious breasts to his burning gaze; Abraham has to grab his base or he’ll come untouched all over your soft skin and nipples: no, he wants your cunt, wet and and always ready for him.
He’s rough when he helps you on your feet, so fast that your head spins for a moment and you have to lean on him, your face against his study chest and his touch softens, his long fingers trace the knobs of your spine and he breathes in your smell, now mixed with his: it’s heady to know that you’re going to walk around with his marks on your beautiful body, even after he’s gone, you’ll carry a piece of him with yourself.
Your lips seek his, already slack for his tongue to breach again, he seeks his own taste as he kisses you, one of his hands in your hair again, the other busy divesting you of your dressing gown as you plaster your naked body against his and he moans in the kiss when your soft breasts push against his solid chest: no one has ever had this kind of effect on him and no one ever will, he fears.
For the longest second he stares into your eyes, big and unfocused, your lips plush from the kissing and the sucking, before turning you around to bend you over with your hands pressed against the window.
“Don’t you move, love, you won’t like it otherwise.” He whispers in your ear, and you tremble with need.
You’re so wet and ready for his cock, your honey slides down your thighs: you should feel ashamed of your desire, of how much you want his cock to plow you until your legs give up, but you can’t find in your heart to care, lust clouds your mind.
With wanton moans you push your arse backwards, towards his fully erect cock and his hand lands on your cheek, once, twice, until your cries of pain become pleads for mercy, for him.
“Please Abraham! Please! I need you!” You sound so broken, needy and whiney, and you don’t care: either he fucks you or you’ll go absolutely mad!
Abraham’s hands grab your plush hips to force you on your tippy toes, your arms straining to stay in place when his tip starts teasing your wet folds with slow, vertical motions that have his whole cock slowly pressing against your cunt, until your labia envelopes his erection fully.
His lips find your ear, his teeth nibble the sensitive skin there.
“Beg for it!”
He orders with a stern voice, laced with something you can’t place, born of the failed arranged marriage you know nothing about and that had hurt him beyond what he’s willing to admit.
“Now!”
And you do, with your nails scratching the window, your voice high pitched and broken with desire and desperation, your body trembles when his teeth bite the naked skin of your back, savagely, leaving marks that will hurt with every movement.
“Abe, ah!”
His cock breaches you, your body lurches forward with the powerful pushes and his hands have to pull you back, fucking you with long strokes that open you up to his invasion, that mould your cunt for his cock, and his cock only.
When he bottoms out his hips grind against you, his bulbous head pushes mercilessly against that rough patch inside of you, and you cry out, desperate, tears streaming down your face, cunt curling around his cock like a fist that pulls him in and he wants to drown inside of you.
Your body arches with every fast push against your spot, so hard and fast that you're already in overdrive, your pleasure careening towards you brutally, all your nerves burning to the point of pain that you try to squirm away from his hold: he’s too much, the pleasure he’s giving you encompassing your mind and your body, every muscle burns and trembles in his merciless hold, as his cock keeps fucking you. The pleasure is like a whiplash on your poor mind when his fingers find your pearl, his movements brutal, aided by your wetness and the pleasure explodes inside of you. Your body goes rigid with it, back arched, mouth hanging open as Abraham’s cock fucks you through it, you’re so tight it almost hurts to keep going, just a bit more, you’re giving him so much pleasure he needs more of your perfect cunt; he comes with his teeth biting your shoulder, the pain triggering a smaller orgasm that has your cunt milking his cock until he has no more to give.
His lax body falls on yours and you two slide on the floor, still grabbing at one another with trembling hands, your bodies deaf to the cold bite of the tiles as you two frantically kiss and hug in the vain attempt to become one.
Both your breaths are still labored when you two manage to stand up, your legs tremble so much that Abraham has to carry you up the stairs and up to your bed. By the time he comes back with a wet cloth to clean you up, you’re already asleep with your legs spread and his seed staining your overused cunt.
He needs to be gentle when he cleans you up, not wanting to wake you up after having used you so hard; his cock tries to get hard again as the coupling replays in his mind.
You’ll never know how much the memories keep him warm when his caravan is too cold and lonely, when he’s too far away from your village and he misses you, when he wishes you’d go away with him.
But that’s never going to happen, to even imagine you being inside his caravan all curled up in your thick gown because you’re freezing or hugging him from behind, making it all the hardest to go out and work with the horses, means opening himself up to hopes he knows will crush him; this is safer, will always be safer, for you two both.

In which you learn the difference between the men in the house.
Chapter Two
Tumblr media
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Chapter One
You’ve never seen such a large man, maybe one as tall, but never one with such broad shoulders and meaty arms. Even his legs held a girth to them that made other men look like boys. Never would you have ever thought that you would find your way across a man so large, but here you stood, eyes staring directly at what you could only describe as a giant.
“This is my youngest boy, Thomas.” Luda Mae, who had finally given you her name when you had woken earlier, spoke with an eager tone. There was an excited edge in her voice as if she was expecting something to happen.
You gave a nod and only continued to let your eyes search over the bewilderment of a man. Your eyes eventually made it to intense ones, their blue color set aflame with emotions you failed to recognize. Entranced you were in those pools of blue, unable to snap away from them, even when your brain wanted to observe the mask hiding Thomas’s face. The leather accessory confused you but stood second of interest when it came to his stare.
His eyes were deep, riddled with emotions you couldn’t pinpoint. Shades of blue swam about the iris, surrounding two pupils that shifted ever so slightly when he moved from one eye to the other. You felt small under his observing gaze, almost nervous as his own eyes searched for your own. You could practically feel his eyes scanning your body, tangible it was to your anxious mind.
When his eyes met yours again, they still held that same intensity but had softened around the edges. Pity and empathy began to flood his eyes, two emotions you could understand.
A sharp cough from the woman shocked you out of your stare, pulling your attention away from Thomas, and causing you to look over at the sound’s source.
With a giddy smile, Luda made her way up to you and placed a hand on your arm. “Now, Thomas will be showing you to you for the night. We’ll talk about your situation tomorrow, once you’ve gotten some restful sleep in your system…Tommy.” Luda had pulled you over to the man, her other reaching out and grabbing his arm as well. She pulled the two of you close enough for an awkward tone to settle down before pushing you out into the hallway.
“Dinner will be served ten after.” Luda called out as she disappeared into the kitchen, where she had dragged you off to only ten minutes earlier.
When you had awoken earlier for the second time, Luda had greeted you with a warm smile and a glass of water. She ordered you to drink it, which you quickly complied to, downing the whole glass in less than a second. The water had felt nice on your throat, which was far less irritated than before, thanks to the elongated nap you had indulged yourself on.
Luda had then ordered you to the kitchen, where she took a cool rag to your face, gently cleaning the skin. After that was when Thomas came in.
Looking over at Thomas, you gave a nervous smile, not sure of what to do. Thomas simply gave a grunt in response and began walking down the hallway. For a second, you stood there, eyes captivated by the back muscles that poked through the thin fabric of his shirt. Shaking your head, you didn’t waste a second longer to chase after him.
The two of you walked in silence until you reached a door, one that Thomas so kindly opened for you. You walked through the door, turned around, and thanked Thomas for his help. He gave a slight nod and left, closing the door behind him. Alone, in a house you didn’t know, you stood awkwardly in the threshold of the room.
Having turned around, your eyes scanned the room, the dust just as thick here as it was everywhere else. There was a small bed tucked in the corner, its bed sheets fraying at the end, the thin material apparent to you even from a distance. A dingy side table stood next to the bed, its legs bellowed and scratched. Atop of this end table set a lamp, one so shrewd it served more as an eyesoar rather than a light piece. Pictures with broken glass frames were hung upon the wall, as well as bookshelves filled with odd trinkets. A chair sat diagonal from the bed, a beaten dresser opposite, and a rug adjacent.
You walked further into the room, slowly making your way about the room. You observed the odds and ends that littered the shelves, picking some up for further observance. You walked over to the bed and pinched the sheet between your fingers, it practically felt like nothing. You opened the dresser, scanning through all the random garments that filled the drawers.
For a while, you went about the room and observed everything, taking it all in, the charm and all. That was until a knock rang through the room. You turned to the door and opened it, your eyes meeting those lovely blue ones from earlier.
“Dinner, already?” You asked, to which Thomas nodded.
You smiled and walked out of the room, letting Thomas close the door behind you. You waited patiently till he was ready to go, allowing him to lead the way.
As you walked, you noticed the paintings on the wall out here were similar to those back in your room. They were faded from the outside in, lined in a poor wooden frame. The colors, once bright and full of life, had long since turned to a dull and murky tone. The pictures saddened you, pressing a weight on your shoulder, a weight that wasn’t meant for you. However, you sympathized with these people, with these conditions in which you assumed they were stuck in.
You had only been here a day, only awake a few hours, but you’ve already built an opinion around the owners of this troubled house. Victims were to a dark world, a planet that sucked the life from their house as it had done to them. This was evident through the features in which Luda wore, in the eyes Thomas watched with.
Dark eyebags, thick and sagging, hung from Luda’s eyes, encapsulating the troubles she’s persevered through, the hardships she’s fought through. A mask, hiding all features of the face, held snug against the face, screamed a truth so loud it was hard for you to miss it. Thomas’s mask, the one he’s worn the entire time you’ve been here, tells you exactly how people have treated these two, beaten them down till they were both just another sunken house along the dry countryside.
A low grunt from Thomas alerted you that you were at your destination, allowing you to stop before running into his immovable stance. You gave him a smile and a small, “thank you,” before entering the kitchen. You could hear Thomas walk away after that, his loud steps slowly getting quieter until they disappeared.
Luda frantically mixing a pot while trying to chop an onion at the same time met your eyes. Rolling your sleeves up, you quickly washed your hands in the sink. “What can I do to help?” You asked.
Luda turned to you with a thankful smile. “I normally wouldn’t allow this but could you finish chopping this onion. I need it for the stew.” She replied, laying the knife on the counter and tending to the stew.
You quickly got to work finishing the onion and dropping it into the stew at Luda’s command. You then helped her set the table and start the kitchen cleanup.
Soon after that dinner was served and you were seated next to Thomas. Luda had sat you there but you didn’t mind. Thomas’s legs took up a lot of space under the table, however, you were more inclined to small spaces so you had no issue with it. He did hit his knee against the table a lot, a fact that scared you a bit the first few times it happened.
“So who do we have here? A new play toy for our dear ol Tommy?” A man in a sheriff's uniform asked, his voice loud and egotistical.
You felt your stomach turn at his words, already hating this man’s gut.
“They’re a visitor and would you mind your mouth.” Luda responded with a sharp tongue, a warning. For what? You didn't know.
A chill slipped up your spine, your eyes moving over to notice the Sheriff raking his eyes over you in a perverted way. You cringed at his stare, shrinking down in your seat. You averted your eyes and wished for him to do the same. You did not like the way he looked at you as if you were the meal being served, it frightened you in ways you’ve never thought you would be frightened in.
After a moment, the Sheriff spoke, eyes still glued to you. “A visitor? From where? What are you doing down here in this stretch of Texas? A fine youngin’ like yourself should be somewhere off in California or a rich man’s bed.” The Sheriff laughed at his own comment, a shrewd and grotesque laugh. The sound sent chills down your spine, alerting all of your senses to stay on guard.
Luda slapped the man on the arm. “Would you stop that, Charlie. This is no way to speak at a dinner table, especially when there are guests around.”
His eyes finally left and he turned to argue with Luda but you turned them out. You felt as if your skin was shifting along your body, clenching and unclenching in uncomfortable pinches. Your ears felt itchy and your eyes burned. Your stomach growled in illness, protesting food as your body physically cringed.
You did not like this Charlie character.
A gentle tap on your foot dragged you out of yourself. You looked over in the direction and was met with Thomas’s stare, sympathy filling his eyes once more. He reached his hand out towards your bowl and nudged it towards you. You stared down at the liquid inside the bowl before returning your eyes to his. A small smile spread across your lips.
Thomas blinked and continued eating his own food.
Picking up your own spoon, you slowly ate your own, not even paying attention to the flavor. Your mind was occupied with the interaction you just had with Thomas, the difference between his stare and the Sheriff’s.
A thud came from the end of the table as a chair hit the ground, Charlie making his exit in an angered haste. You watched the man leave before looking over at Luda, worry building in your throat.
She glared at where the man had once stood before refreshing her expression and turning towards you. “I’m sorry, dear. Would you like to finish your dinner, Tommy will bring you back to your room after. I’ve got to go.” You gave a firm nod to her words.
She turned to Tommy and spoke, “Could you show Y/N to their room once they’ve finished. I’ve got to go feed Monty.”
Thomas gave his own affirmative and Luda left. Now, it was only Thomas and you in the dining room, alone.
Awkwardly, you finished eating, not really knowing what to say or if you should even speak after all that. You decided not to say anything at all and just hurry up in finishing your food.
When you took your last bite, Tommy stood from the table, you followed suit. He gave a huff and walked away, you right behind him. The walk was faster, shorter than it was before. You had arrived at your door all too soon, wanting to spend more time with the giant of a man. He was a puzzle to you, one you wanted to solve and befriend.
“Thank you for taking me to my room. Have a good night, Thomas.” You spoke with a soft tone, keeping your voice down.
Thomas paused for a moment before giving a short grunt, turning and walking away. You watched him descend the stairs before entering the room.
Upon entry you made your way to the bed and laid down on it, not even trying to cover yourself with the sheets. Your body was so tired that it didn’t bother you how old the bed seemed, it was a bed and you needed a place to sleep. Despite the stiffness of the bed, you fell asleep quickly, slipping into unconsciousness with a wanted ease.
The night would go by quickly, leading into the following morning where you were greeted by a knock at the door.
Slowly, you made your way out of bed and over to the door, opening it to reveal Thomas. He took one look at you before heading into the room, walking over to the dresser, and taking a dress from within. He came back and handed it to you, clearly wanting you to change.
He stepped outside and closed the door, allowing you to change in privacy. You changed quickly and headed out of the room, meeting up with Tommy who stood outside the door.
This time, instead of leading you to the kitchen, he brought you to the living room where Luda was seated on the couch with a warm smile. Patting the seat next to you, she motioned you to come over. You thanked Thomas before heading over and taking a seat along the worn couch.
“So, dear, let’s talk about your stay here and how you came about in such a rough condition.”
Her words were simple, words you were expecting, but you still felt your heart drop. You weren’t ready, not at all.
“Shit.”
