"i should have come back for you," caretaker cries.

"they killed me" immortal whumpee chokes out, "in front of you, you didn't know."

caretaker sobs and wraps their arms around whumpee, "I should've known"

”Wait…I can’t be hearing that right. They did what?”

“God, that’s horrible.”

“How did you make it through?”

“…Sorry, I just need a second.” *screams in the other room*

“No, it’s NOT fine! You were hurt!”

just sitting here, thinking about that first time someone sees a character's pain

the first time someone says "that's not fair"

"it wasn't right"

"you shouldn't be used to it"

"did nobody know? did nobody say anything?"

"Tch- look at that ... you're going to stain my mohagany floors again, Whumpee..." Whumper scolded.

Whumpee glared up at them, holding their side as it bled after whumper had stabbed them. Blood seeped through their fingers, covering them in a sickening crimson sheen. "Y-you know, there's a simple fucking remedy to that problem. How about you stop stabbing me, you prick."

Whumper laughed as if whumpee had shared a fantastic joke with them. "Counteridea- how about you get on your hands and knees and lick this mess clean by yourself."

Visiting them in the hospital

"No, no, stop, you don't need to sit up."

"Do you have ANY IDEA how close you came to... t-to..."

"Nothing, sorry, I just... thought you were getting better..."

"The meds make you loopy for a reason, sweetheart. Just let it happen, it's okay."

"Who the fuck did this to you?"

"Wow, you... really downplayed this over the phone."

*Bursts through the door, out of breath* "I came as soon as I heard!!"

"You know what the doctors told me while you were still unconscious? They said that if I hadn't found you and called an ambulance, you wouldn't have made it through the night."

"I know you think hospitalization was unnecessary, but you weren't the one who had to find their [partner/best friend] passed out on the ground in a pool of their own bloody vomit."

"God, your poor face..."

"That cough still doesn't sound good."

"Don't think you're going right back to work once you're out of here. You won't be walking on that injury for a while, I'll be spoiling you rotten~"

"You can go back to sleep if you want, I'm not going anywhere."

[whump-in-the-closet]

“They did that to you? And you let them?”

“You think I had a say in how I was fucking tortured?”

[whump-about-it]

“Why am I lying down?”

“Because you’re bleeding.”

“I can bleed sitting up.”

“I’m trying to prevent you from going into shock.”

“I don’t think it’s working.”

“I know. Shut up.”

"This will hurt. A lot."

"Aren't you meant to say 'this will only hurt a little'?"

"Would you rather I lie to you?"

"No..."

"Then this will hurt and it will be excruciating."

When Whumpee misconstrued one of Caretaker’s questions/concerns/casual comments to be something they are sorry for/ should be apologetic about or that Caretaker meant for them to stop doing that thing or was being demeaning about it.

“You’re bleeding!” “Sorry! I’m sorry! I won’t get it on anything!”

“Does your ankle hurt?” “I can still do the [thing Caretaker asked if they wouldn't mind doing]. It doesn’t hurt that bad.”

“You’re sniffling…. Are you crying?!” “I promise I won’t be loud! I just can’t stop! I’m sorry!”

“You’re breathing a bit loud. Is your rib hurting again? … WHY ARE YOU HOLDING YOUR BREATH?!”

“Your room was a bit warm today. Is that how you like it? I sleep hot so I would end up sweating all night with my heater on that high.” (A few nights later) “C-Caretaker? Is.. is it alright if I t-take the blanket from the couch to m-my room t-tonight?” “Of course! How are you still cold when you're room is so hot? Are you feeling well?— WHY ARE ALL YOUR WINDOWS OPEN?! ITS WINTER!!”

“You sure are hungry! Looks like your appetite is coming back.” “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to take too much. I won’t eat tomorrow to make up for it.”

“Your hair looks different!” “I know… I'm sorry. I didn't really like it in [old-Whumper’s-favorite-style] so I changed it. I’ll change it back though, 'cause I know it makes me more pleasing to look at. I’m sorry.”

"Why are there bandage wrappings in the garbage?" "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to take your supplies without asking! Its just that one of my stitches opened up and it wouldn't stop bleeding."

Terrified Whumpee:

Nonononononono I'll be good master I'm sorry please i-i didn't mean-"

"Please sir please you don't need the tranquilizer I'll be still, I'll be so still!"

"Yes master, I'm a bad mutt. G-get on the table? I-Please master."

"I-Im...sorry...mmh... c-cant...breathe..."

Whumpee sat in pitch darkness. The only sensation they had was a heavy shackle around their ankle and a bad bruise to their temple.

A dim light flicked on as Whumper clumped down the steps. They set a plate in front of them, something that looked like it was made with great care. Whumper then set a steaming cup of coffee and nudged it toward them.

"An apology," Whumper spoke softly, "For the bang on the head. I didn’t mean to hit you so hard."

'"An apology-" Whumpee repeated sarcastically, "So what am I, your guest?"

"No. No, you're not a guest." Whumper rubbed their nose.

"Guests are allowed to leave."

“You’ve never really cared about me,” whumpee says one morning after a night of whumpee crying alone. “You just felt bad about what your friend whumper did to me.”

Caretaker shrugs, “you’re right. But it doesn’t change anything, not really. I’ve taken care of you time and time again despite it.”

Whump dialogue #63

"You know how fear is a vital response? It teaches us to avoid dangerous things. It's necessary for our survival."

"I'm doing just fine, thanks," Whumpee snarled in return.

"And you..." Whumper continued, not even acknowledging the interruption. "You could certainly use some lessons in that."

unearthed my favorite whump diologue in the world now: talk to me.

when someone is terrified, calming them down by being gentle and cheerful, and then when they start to warm up to you, looking them in the eye and saying "talk to me. what's going on?"

"hey, hey, I thought you were getting better. talk to me, what hurts?" when an injured whumpee is deteriorating

an unexpected phone call raising the speaker to your ear and and opening with "talk to me" because they only call if it's an emergency

team stuck inside and the tech analysis over the line hears something in Leader's voice that screams something is wrong. "you're not telling me everything. talk to me."

I'M OBSESSED.

Love it when caretaker is the one pleading.

“Look at me. Please, please, look at me. No, don’t close your eyes.”

“You need to sleep. Look, we can deal with it tomorrow, just take a nap. Please, I’m asking, for me, just go to sleep.”

“Alright, I’ll do it! I’ll do what you want, just— just don’t hurt them.”

“Get away from them. Leave them alone, they can’t take anymore, please—”

"How are they doing?"

"Always either sleeping or crying. They just won't get better."

"Ghnnn!" Whumpee cried out, Whumper slamming their body to the floor. They could barely see straight as Whumper tilted their head up to look them in the eyes.

"ooo, look at you-" Whumper began to say, but they were cut off by their own cronies.

"Whumper, Caretaker is here. With reinforcements." They said.

Whumpee's heart sang. Whumper on the other hand, snarled, hand fisting the front of their shirt, bringing them face to face.

"This facility is hidden. There is NO WAY Caretaker would've found us." They snarled, slamming Whumpee against the wall. "I'll ask you one time. What. Did. You. Do."
