I just realized the difference in heat pits imply the abyssal serpent is a pit viper (venomous) while the winged serpents are pythons (constrictors). Not sure what to do with this information right now except put it here to look at later
I do think it speaks volumes though that Messmer’s winged serpents are pythons, non-venomous, and non-venomous snakes are known to have kinder temperaments than venomous snakes. And the winged serpents are Messmer’s friends….he is choosing kindness over violence…..
https://youtu.be/XqXZ0tJppok?si=kF5httv3agxyOzqe
Messmer can actually turns into a snake it's his original form, and he looks soo abused and neglected maybe because of the seal?
Eeeee okay so. The summon he uses a: appears to have more blood and/or burn wounds on it. and b: otherwise has most of its scales and doesn’t have the transparency effect I thought it had like the winged serpents!! Also there’s a bunch of eyeballs all over the place but we’ll get to those later.
Burn wounds are pretty straightforward and also interesting since they imply either the serpent fucked around and found out (Messmer burned it) or the serpent fucked around and found out (burned itself like an idiot, not surprising in the slightest for snakes since they miss prey strikes all the time and are, in my humble snake owner opinion, some of the dumbest creatures you’ll ever meet. Curious yes. But also. Idiots)
The snake Messmer turns into has much deeper wounds and scarring on it than just the summon of the abyssal serpent. This snake also appears to have a blind right eye (note for any reptile keepers who care: not the temporary blindness that comes with shedding). Its body is very misshapen and there are scales trying to protrude along the spine, and in several places where there don’t appear to be any wounds the scales are just…missing. This is as expected not good for snakes! They need those scales! I am honestly not quite sure how to interpret the overlapping layers of scales in some places. Like sometimes it looks like a shedding issue but also it seems like it’s the attempts of two souls trying to occupy one body? Also missing shed transparency effect! Idk what the hell was going on in my brain or if it was just lighting but I was sooooo fucking sure of the shed buildup. I was also really tired though and don’t care. The visual read was still fun. It can be a headcanon to me <3
So on those thoughts of it being two souls trying to occupy one body. What strikes me about this design is that some of the wounds look like bite scarring you’d see from live prey fighting your snake back. Again, this is a thing entirely avoidable with good husbandry (don’t live feed unless absolutely necessary). The scales to me still imply shedding has gone very wrong at some point. You’d expect to see shedding heal and scar over these wounds, but they’re all fresh. Very symbolic. You can’t heal violence by just pretending it doesn’t exist.
Ideally when a snake is wounded, you do routine care to help them with sheds and make sure the wound is clean. The scales will grow back and the wound will scar, but it will take several sheds and consistent work! You cannot, as Marika tried to do, just put a bandaid on it. You also can’t just lock a snake in a cage it will hurt itself trying to get out of (ie messmer himself) and expect that to go even remotely well.
Some of this feels like visual symbolism of self-hatred. Like I said, the base serpent looks like it’s gotten in a fight. With its host. Some of it also feels like visible neglect (ie the wounds not being healed, missing scales)
I’m gonna discuss the eyeballs bc I fuck w them immensely. First of all congrats Messmer on having an Eldritch Horror in ur body. Second of all, all these eyes appear to have lids. Actual snakes don’t. They have hard eye caps instead and cannot blink. Some of the eyes seem like they might not be able to blink, but the scales around them are still more closed than you’d expect? I fuck with it. Fits with Messmer’s blindness motif which maybe I’ll make a post on eventually. But in regards to the base serpent specifically, of course violence can afford to close its eyes and be blind to who it chooses to hurt. Violence is also something that, when committed, always seems to haunt you. Its gaze will always be there.
It’s interesting that Marika replaced Messmer’s eye to seal the serpent off, and so maybe it grew more eyes? That could be why the scales around them aren’t correct—they’re trying to protrude from the body. This occurs in both the summon and the physical snake form Messmer has. Repression of identity = Eldritch horrors? Sure I’ll take that fromsoft.
Final thing on the eyes. They’re red, not green. The winged serpents have green eyes, Elden Ring’s color of endurance. Super fitting! The abyssal serpent’s eyes are all red, the color of rot and death in this game. Red to me also feels primordial given its use in lightning by the dragons, but I digress. It’s pretty obvious why a base serpent would have base powers. This thing is old as fuck.
Okay. I’m sure you all thought the post was done but one last note on snake biology! So, snakes’ tongues retract into their mouth. When a snake opens their mouth you won’t see a forked tongue just curled up, hanging out. It’s in a little pocket for safe keeping :)
Neither of the base serpent’s forms appear to have the anatomy for this, since there are eyeballs replacing this anatomy. This is problematic for Messmer in a snake form specifically since he’s blind, and real snakes compensate for shitty vision by having an incredibly strong sense of smell. Messmer’s snake form also doesn’t have the heat pits that the abyssal serpent has. Heat pits are another part of snake anatomy, usually located below the nostrils, and are what they use to “see” heat and locate prey. In pythons (like the winged serpents) you’ll see multiple heat pits all in a row above the lip as opposed to the single very deep pit behind and below the nostrils in vipers. This single pit is what the base serpent (summon) has. Neither Messmer’s base serpent form nor his winged serpents have heat pits which is…interesting. It could be a modeling error but I don’t think so given base serpent has very clear heat pits.
My point is, Messmer is somehow even more blind than you’d expect from a snake. Maybe this makes sense given Messmer carries an internal fire, which would likely fuck with infrared? Still interesting nonetheless.
In summary: The base serpent alone (summon) seems overall in better shape than its other form (transformation). I think this is pretty straightforward symbolism—as a being on its own the serpent would probably be fine. It’s just that it uses Messmer as a host and this causes issues. Fuck around and find out I guess, base serpent.
And holy shit Messmer Cannot fucking see. Good luck with the seeing eye snakes babe because snakes notoriously have shit vision !
(Also just an aside both of the base serpent forms kind of have narrower faces than you’d see on a real snake? Like they’re more eel like to me. Anyways.)

Walks with Aziraphale were always so amusing, especially when he took one of his different forms. Tonight, Crowley took note of a few different reactions:
1. Much to his bemusement, quite a few people crossed the road entirely just to avoid him (he didn't know why, he thought this particular form was very charming).
2. Those who didn't avoid them either didn't notice at all, or cooed adoringly at his companion. A few snake enthusiasts tried their best to impart advice upon him (Yes, he was aware it was a chilly night to have a python outside. Yes, he was aware that he had a few extra rolls on him, and he would appreciate it if they didn't body shame him, please and thank you).
3. He had a particularly interesting encounter with a stranger who tried his best to buy Aziraphale from him (he didn't know whether to laugh or be offended on his companion's behalf when the person subsequently dropped their price offering upon learning he was male. He turned them down, of course).
This just in: local vampire hunter tries his hardest to look cool in front of his crush.
I said soon and I guess I meant now haha.
I could help but draw Crowley and Aziraphale from @mrghostrat 's new Vampire AU (thanks for the permission btw!!) and I'll be damned if I couldn't pass up the opportunity to draw Ball Python Azi after being deeply entrenched in Ball python morphs and drawing them for the past few years.
I'm also a big sucker (har har) for any kind of vampire au, so I was incredibly excited to draw this!! I'm still not confident in my ability to draw Crowley (or jackets oof) but I tried.
On that, while I have ya'll here, a few fun facts about Ball Pythons and Morphs:
Azi looks to me to be based on a Blue Eyed Lucy (Leucistic) ball python. Leucistic is different from Albino - both lack pigment, but Leucistics only lack pigments in parts, rather than entirely like with Albinism. The fastest way to tell the difference is the eye color.
Blue Eyed Lucies have eye colors that range from Black to Blue - blue obviously being the more popular eye color.
The whiter the snake, the more sought after it is (not all Lucies are pure white, depends on the morph combo)
Unlike a majority of ball python morphs, Blue Eyed Lucies don't have a distinct gene combo that defines them. Generally, their morphs included Mocha, Mojave, Lesser, Butter, etc. The combos are generally endless. A Super Mojave (Mojave bred to Mojave) will produce a fairly grey/white snake, but their heads tend to be a very dusty grey, and isn't an ideal combo for a Lucy.
A snake that seems incredibly white when hatched may change color as it ages and become less white. This is common for all morphs, and their patterns define themselves and get stronger with age.
In breeding, males are generally less desired than females, and run at a lower price generally. This is because a single male can breed multiple females, so it's less effective to have more males in a clutch than females.
Obesity in snakes IS a real thing, and generally hard to manage if you do have an obese snake. Snakes tend to retain weight well, so exercise is really the only method to help bring their weight down (plus smaller meals). Good luck if you have an obese snake that isn't particularly inclined to be active.
Ball Pythons generally tend to have what's called a 1,000 gram wall - in which a snake that hits 1k grams stops eating and will not gain more weight. No one is 100% sure why this phenomena happens, but it's incredibly common.
Not a fact but opinion: Paradox ball Pythons are my favorite morph. If you want to see some incredibly interesting genetics, look them up.

Happy 99th Birthday David Attenborough!
1. 1954 - Wildlife for the masses
Sir David Attenborough joined the BBC as a trainee in 1952, having only ever watched one television programme.
His early career included the high octane round-table debate, Animal, Vegetable, Mineral? But the tenacious 28-year-old was seeking new ways to make films and a life outside the television studio. The result was the hit series 'Zoo Quest,' which combined live studio presentation with footage shot on location for the first time. It brought rare animals - including chimpanzees, pythons and birds of paradise - into viewers' living rooms and proved wildlife programmes could attract big audiences.
2. 1965 - Civilisation – in colour!
We can't attribute Western civilisation to Attenborough, but we can give him the credit for one of its greatest achievements: colour television.
As Controller of BBC Two, he oversaw the first ever-colour broadcasts in Europe, rushing to beat rival German broadcasters by three weeks. He then commissioned the critically-acclaimed series Civilisation, written and presented by art historian Kenneth Clark. The Ascent of Man, presented by humanist scientist Jacob Bronowski, soon followed. These landmark series helped inaugurate a new kind of television documentary, putting history, culture and science on screen in ways never seen before.
3. 1969 - Monty Python's Flying Circus
By now BBC Director of Programmes, Attenborough continued to innovate and reinvent television – but this time in the world of comedy.
He commissioned Monty Python's Flying Circus, a cult sketch show which made stars out of John Cleese, Michael Palin, Terry Jones, Eric Idle, Graham Chapman and Terry Gilliam. The show was a global phenomenon, inspiring generations of comedians around the world. In Britain, Python became part of the nation's cultural DNA, encapsulating a recognisably British eccentricity and spawning popular catchphrases and figures of speech.
4. 1975 - Back to nature
Long before Bear Grylls slept in a camel carcass (ew), Sir David was trekking through uncharted wilderness to film some of the remotest people on earth.
Freed from his role as a BBC executive, Attenborough went back to nature to become an explorer. He made a series of programmes about tribes, some so isolated it's thought they hadn't been contacted by Europeans before Sir David's arrival. He immersed himself in their cultures, wearing nothing but a loin cloth while filming in the Solomon Islands. In showing us ways of life so different from our own, Sir David helped us understand both the diversity and universality of the human experience.
5. 1979 - Inventing epics
Now a staple of any self-respecting Brit’s television diet, Sir David helped invent the natural history documentary as we know it today.
In the late 1970s, he took inspiration from series like Civilisation and The Ascent of Man and travelled the globe to deliver his definitive take on the wonders of the natural world. A natural history programme of this scale and ambition had never been attempted before. The result was Life on Earth, a televisual feast which used stunning photography and innovative camera techniques to show animals in their natural habitats. It’s estimated that 500 million people watched the series worldwide.
6. 1994 - A rose by any other name…
While filming The Private Life of Plants, Sir David noticed the world's largest flowering plant had quite a racy name – the Amorphophallus Titanum.
Instead, he gave it another name in his script - titum arum - coining the plant's common name in the process. But as well as naming species, many plants and animals have been named after Sir David. They include a flightless beetle, a species of hawkweed found only in the Brecon Beacons and a long-necked dinosaur called the Attenborosaurus.
7. 2001 - Your first glimpse
Without the ambition and persistence of Attenborough and his collaborators, millions of us may never have seen some of the world's rarest creatures.
It's been a constant theme throughout his career, beginning with Zoo Quest in the 1950s, when he famously caught the elusive Komodo Dragon on film for the first time. But in 2001, we were given an insight into a strange new world, when Attenborough narrated The Blue Planet. The series introduced millions to the wonders of the deep sea and was the first time some species, including the hairy angler fish and the Dumbo octopus, were captured on film.
8. 2015 - Pushing boundaries
From colour broadcasts to 3D television, Sir David has always been at the forefront of pioneering technology in broadcasting.
In 2015, he dived 1,000ft in a submersible off the Australian coast to film previously unseen parts of the Great Barrier Reef, breaking the record for the deepest ever dive on the reef. He also collaborated with the Natural History Museum on a virtual reality project, and filmed BBC series – such as Planet Earth II and Wild Isles – in Ultra HD. Next time you tune into a major Attenborough documentary, you can be pretty sure you're witnessing a breakthrough in future broadcasting technology.
9. Today - Saving the world
Sir David has always said he didn't start making programmes with conservation in mind - he simply enjoyed observing the natural world.
But as time passed, he became aware that the animals and habitats he was filming were under threat. He's authored documentaries which overtly tackle environmental issues but prefers a subtler approach, showcasing the natural world in the hope we might be inspired to preserve it. Sir David has done more than almost any other person to help millions of us understand and appreciate the wonders of the world around us.

Reading one of those embarassingly popular Fae romance novels that people on youtube and tiktok and instagram like to gush about and recommend.
Im a 1/3 of the way into this book and im struggling to feel any chemistry between the main character lady and this hot ancient blonde high fae lord thing.
I have so many words. Like character motivations seem to be non existent. Like very nonexistent so far.
And good lord why is werewolf fae legolas seemingly so impressed and fascinated by what is essentially one of the mud peasants from Monty Python?
Im supposed to suspend my disbelief that she's just so fascinating and special. When the narrative has only described her as just as plain jane as any other peasant, with the only notable skill that she can hunt. And hunt well enough she killed a distracted fae wolf.
Bull fucking man-cow titties.
Also im getting fed up with the amount of continuity errors. As early as page four she somehow managed to draw and aim a bow she had JUST unstrung only a few paragraphs before.
The author just FORGOT to mention she restrung her bow???
What?
How is this a popular book? Im 1/3 of the way through and the romantic pair have ZERO chemistry.
Fingers crossed the next 2/3 of this book impress me because i am far from impressed.

Lots of people talking in general but to your specific point, if you are new to programming in general I would stick to only one and since you're taking a class that will use Python, learn Python. You will be able to pick up c# very quickly later.
If you know programming generally, sure learn both languages at the same time. They're so different I don't imagine any confusion, especially because one is static typed with semicolons and the other is an absolute garbage language that I desperately want to abandon but my industry adopted it dynamically typed with enforced white space so visually it will be easy to center yourself in one vs the other. At least that's true for me when I switch between them.
Question regarding languages: Python & C#
Is it possible to learn both languages at the same time? Or will it be easy to get confused between the two? I thought I would come to the lovely codeblr people who have a vast amount of experience for advice. C# is something I *want* to learn, but I *have* to learn Python for for my course that starts in January...I just want to see if it is plausible to learn both at the same time or if it will mess up my learning if I try and learn both. I'd love to hear about your experiences and what your first languages were when you first started out in the world of coding!!

PYTHON SOCIETY GIVES JUMPSCARE REVEAL OF THE OFFICIAL EYES OF ANGELS LINEUP.
python society decided to reveal(?) their newest group eyes of angels members this halloween through posts of their costumes and fans are shocked at the lineup. here’s everything netizens got wrong:
the amount of members (6 instead of suspected 5).
the gender of the group (coed instead of full girl group, perhaps python society was scared of another virago).
speaking of virago, the members returning for eyes of angels was also false. no member of virago returned (rightfully so).
anyways 🌚 lets get to know the members and who they decided to be for halloween this year. there’s some familiar faces here.
Tumblr media
min sarang as scarah screams: we do not have much information about sarang as alongside august because they are the two members who are for the first time being revealed to the public. what we do know however, is that sarang is apparently the niece of ceo hong kyungsoo, training under the company since its creation and the company’s first ever trainee. why she hasn’t debuted after nearly ten years, we’re not sure. can we even consider her a nepo baby when she’s been in the dungeon for so long?
august kim as ronald mcdonald: like sarang we don’t know much about august compared to the other members because she just got to south korea a month ago? born in chicago, illinois, august was scouted by python society through instagram dms after the scouting agent saw her kpop covers and performances, specifically to darker concepts. hong kyungsoo took a chance and flew her to korea to be the final member of eyes of angels, lets hope it was worth it.
shao liyun as cleo de nile: the only member of this group who was correctly guessed by netizens. she has been a very popular trainee under python society since she failed to make the lineup of love club for not fitting the concept (arguable). she stayed under python as a choreographer for their groups, creating a lot of the company’s most viral dance moments, so fans are anticipating her main dancer position and the choreo she will assign the group to perform.
harlan suh as chuck e cheese: you know him, you love him. the leader of serenade was an unexpected addition to eyes of angels due to the fact that he is still promoting in a group. one of the most popular members of serenade, and a great leader, hong kyungsoo needed harlan in the group to “ensure immediate success”. probably a bit nervous about it being his first group in four years and breaking out of the python society mold. we’re excited to see how he differs in eoa from serenade, and hope for his mental and physical health.
hwang jihoon as lego batman: another safe option for python society, jihoon is also well known under the company as a producer. why hong kyungsoo has hired so many of his staff to debut? maybe to make a self producing group? so he can do less work? not out of character. a dynamic duo with now group mate liyun, the duo have made most of python society’s biggest hits, we’re sure they will do the same for eyes of angels as well.
the group also made a surprise appearance at glasshouse’s phantom manor, a shock to many since they have not even debuted, and no other python society artists attended the event (whether by choice or force to not take away spotlight from eyes of angels’ reveal, we aren’t sure).
aside from our detective netizens being terrible at their jobs and only guessing one potential trainee correctly (liyun) we still have high hopes for this group (and maybe a bit of concern around harlan being in two groups at once but what can we do?)

Got a picture with the most adorable clown who was having fun with my phone and personally snapping the shots because she thought it'd be fun
Some plants that I wanted so badly, but alas, all I have is $1 to my name.
Some animal crossing keychains that were bought FAST. I was lucky to get Beau for Blue (who sadly couldn't make it due to exhaustion)
And last but not least, pic with my bff Stacey who I owe my whole life to (she bought the charm and got me a tshirt, but everything else i got were free, including a different tshirt)
After I got home I immediately dropped the tumbler I was holding in the last photo and it broke in half and i tried to save the slime in a glass jar that used to hold olives
We also witnessed first hand MAGA shitheads trying to infiltrate pride and cause a disturbance but they were quickly shut down and forced to leave lmao so instead they set up on popular corners outside of pride waving American flags or using their children to hold signs, and yell at cars passing, why Trump is "doing what's right" and the parents recording them off to the side in the safety of their car in a parking lot 🙄
I wish I thought of writing/drawing on a white tee the monty python and the holy grail scene where a peasant is like "what makes you king? Well, I didn't vote for you" before I left the house but alas 😮‍💨

Driving myself Crazy for three hours trying to make an incomplete Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics Simulation in Python
The following post is a rant. I try my best to explain and dumb things down, but I'm writing it with too much frustration at my code so I apologize in advance.
For those who wanna go oooh colors changing pretty here's a short clip of the animation I generated. There's a longer simulation linked at the bottom of the post.
Tumblr media
Read on about how I made the simulation under the cut.
Okay, so, Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics. It's one method of Simulating Fluids (gases and liquids and plasmas basically) with computers. It's mainly got applications in two places, from what I know. One is in Science Research, and another is in Game Development.
There are two major methods of representing a fluid for a computer, one is with Particles, and another is with grids. I tried to make a grid-based simulation but that has a lot more math, and I can't do math without some meth so here I am.
Okay, so Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics. How does it work? Well, like it says, it's basically simulating the constituent and then smoothing them out to sorta get the hydrodynamic behavior. [3]
The Ancient Indian natural scientist Maharshi Kanada [1] postulated that everything in the world was made of tiny little things indivisible things called Paramanu. Democritus proposed a similar theory, that all matter was composed of small indivisible particles which they called "atoms" [2]. The idea of smooth particle hydrodynamics builds on top of that. If everything is made up of these constituent particles, then so must fluids as well.
These constituent particles (particles henceforth) are nice. They don't break further, and they undergo elastic collisions. (ACTUALLY, the actual molecules that make up a fluid are not like this, we're just assuming that they are cuz this whole mess is complicated enough without having to simulate intra-intermolecular interactions). Elastic Collisions, basically mean that the particles, when they hit each other, they don't lose the energy of motion (kinetic energy). [4]
An actual Liquid is going to have MILLIONS OF BILLIONS of particles. Actually, we have a name for something that big, it's called a Mole. [5] One mole is like 10^23 particles. (10 times 10 times 10... twenty three times). But my computer is a useless piece of potato that can't even be used to make a goddam french fry, unless you wanna heat up the oil with how hot this thing gets doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Okay sorry for the tangent. It's like almost 2 in the night and I'm hungry. My point is that my computer can't keep track of one mole of particles. It's too many particles. So, what I say is, okay, out of the one mole of particles, I'm going to keep track of only like say, 1000 particles. And then whatever results I get, I multiply it with a big number and scale it up to approximate the results of one mole of particles.
So, I just put a bunch of particles, and then I have to keep track of their positions, velocities, accelerations, and all that jazz. So if you remember 8th grade there were these equations of motion, where you'd change the values of position, velocity, and acceleration using some formulae. [6] Those formulae are continuous, which means for fancy sphancy reasons (Remind me to write another post about this when I'm in a better mood about this one it's super cool) I can't use. I need to do something called Discritize the equations. [7].
For that, I used something called the Explicit Euler Method first. [8] That's basically a method that Euler came up with I guess so it's got his name. Why does the Wikipedia article on this thing not have a history section but a section on "In Popular Culture" wth. Someone pls edit it if you know the history of this thing anyways.
The problem with Discretization is that, the way you're implementing it in computers, it's not going to be accurate. There's going to be some errors and they build up. So normally when you drop a ball from a certain height, and ignore the fact that heat and air and friction exists, then the ball hits the ground, and bounces back, it should go back to the height it started at. But because of the errors from Discretization adding up, the ball kept losing height. That's not good. So I moved over and implemented this thing called the Runge Kutta Method. [9] These methods were developed around 1900 by the German mathematicians Carl Runge and Wilhelm Kutta. If you're looking at the wikipedia page for this and wondering what the heck is this, same gurl same. I just asked chatgpt to implement this method into my code and it gave out something that I think is correct I'm not sure. But the point is that this is better and doesn't throw that much errors in calculation.
Okay now that that's done, I threw like a 1000 balls onto the screen, gave them random velocities, put them under an arbitrary downward gravity, and hooray. That covers the particle part of the Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics.
(YES I know particles don't go through each other like they do in this simulation. I'm supposed to include some collision logic, and I could not be bothered to implement it yet, because it is 2 AM and I AM GOING CRAZY with just this much.)
Now, for the Smooth part of Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics. If only I could use this as an excuse to pull out my smooth pickup lines but I'll stick to the physics for now. Basically, one way of calculating density is, suppose I have a box, I can toss in say 100 balls, and then the density of the box is 100 balls / box. The box has some volume, so I divide this unit I've got with the volume of the box. And each ball has some mass, so I multiply the unit with the mass of each ball. And that's basically what I do here.
Suppose, I take a point and then around it, I draw a circle. I first count the number of particles in this circle, and then divide it with the volume of the circle. (There's a few more steps here but i'm not bothering. I'm giving more importance to the particles closer to the point and less to the particles more far away but that's a mess to explain and I can't think of a way to explain it.). And then I multiply and divide by the mass of particle and volume of the circle respectively, I end up with the density at the given point.
But that's just for one point. If you sit and plot it for as many points as possible, then you get something resembling the density function of the system. What I've done here is basically divide my domain into a 25 by 25 grid, and I calculated the density at the center of each of the grid boxes. The more particles and the More Grid boxes you have, the more smoother your function will be. Here, not so much. It's a pixelated mess, but the same logic applies. I calculated the density grid for each instant of time, and then let the simulation run for like 1000 frames.
FINALLY the plotting. I just plotted the points where they are with a scatterplot, and then the background I put the heatmap of the density. And of course I didn't bother naming my axes, because that's the standard practice for plotting graphs. (When you're lazy like I am right now. Always label your axes in a serious graph)
So here's the GIF I finally generated after the trials and tribulations going for like 1000 frames. Let's hope Tumblr can render it pls.
I cited my references in the order of the paragraphs I wrote so deal with the non-linear citations. This ain't a research paper and it's way too late in the night for me to be bothered about this sorry. Why did I even bother with the citations if I was going to half-arse this thing anyways this is why you don't write stuff when half asleep.

Happy Halloween, everybody! I have a treat for you all: this is the first of five images I got from various artists, for a series I simply like to call “OCs and Inspirations.” In honor of Disney’s 100th Anniversary, I decided to get some images of some of my major OCs for Twisted Wonderland - the first five introduced in stories - posing with their source inspirations. This first one is made by @hooter-n-company, and shows the first boi I ever made: Nakoda “Nako” Spivak, based on Kaa from Disney’s Jungle Book.
Nakoda was not meant to be a major character when I created him, but in the course of writing his introductory piece, “Snake-Like,” I fell in love with what I had created. So, part of the way through, I decided to have him become a student at Night Raven College, and thus allow him the opportunity for more adventures later down the line. He has since become one of my most popular OCs for this universe, even though he honestly hasn’t shown up in THAT many stories yet. I think part of the reason for this IS his inspiration from Kaa, since Kaa has become such an iconic character, ESPECIALLY within this particular “kinkdom.” That was part of what I love(d) about Nakoda: he’s a character who allows me to play with Kaa’s tropes and traits - Kaa HIMSELF being a rather overused and slightly overrated figure, in my personal opinion - while putting my own spin on things.
Like Kaa, Nakoda is insatiable in every sense of the word: about the only thing harder to satisfy than his hunger is his seemingly limitless “thirst.” This was meant to be a sort of in-joke for me on how over-sexualized Kaa himself has become in a LOT of places, but it actually works pretty well for Nakoda on a lot of levels, which is why I’ve kept it: for example, I recently was reminded that, in the original Kipling stories, it’s indicated Kaa has had many mates over the years, so even though we can presume the Disney version (being a VERY different character) is not the same, there’s no reason my guy can’t be. Ha Ha.
On a deeper level, what Nakoda takes from Kaa is what I like to describe as “directionless control.” Both are characters who seek to control other beings, and enjoy the power they have over their prey, toying with their “playthings” before consuming them. Both enjoy the sensation of being in control of their own little world. HOWEVER, in Kaa’s case, there is no greater cause behind all this: he is ruthless and ambitionless in what he does, recognizing no friends, and with seemingly no other desire than to fill his belly and enjoy everything that comes with that. Nakoda’s great issue is that he’s someone who very much lives in the moment; he doesn’t really know what he wants in life, nor how to achieve it: just this vague, nebulous concept of having control and gaining respect and recognition. He, himself, isn’t sure what to do with himself or his gifts.
Off the topic of the character, I just want to say this artwork is absolutely freaking spellbinding. Kaa looks magnificent, and Nakoda…I could comment on a LOT of things in the image that make it so great, but…can we just take some time to appreciate how positively THICC and STACKED this gluttonous hedonist is here? I never want to see Nako with curves ANY smaller than this EVER again, good Lord, they take one’s breath away…possibly literally, if he gets those pythons around somebody. He won’t even NEED the coils of his naga form then. >////>
Thank you for your contribution, Hoots! She's actually made one more image for this same series, which will be released in the near future. Look out for the rest of this series of pics starting tomorrow. ;)

Anne, Sasha, and Marcy are at five-year-old Lily's career day at school.
Teacher: Okay, our next speakers are Lily's moms. Why don't you tell us about your jobs?
Anne:[with a large python draped over her shoulders] I'm a herpetologist. That means I study amphibians and reptiles, like this guy.
Lily's classmates are fascinated.
Marcy: I create webcomics. In fact, I'm the author of the popular comic series "Amphibi-Anne".
Lily's classmates applaud Marcy.
Sasha: And I'm a psychologist. I talk to kids about their feelings and help them deal with any problems they have.
Lily's classmates don't react.
Sasha:[irritated] Seriously?!
She’s annoyed now but she knows the truth
Sasha: That’s fine. Most of you will need me in a few years so we’ll see who’s more impressive then.
Teacher: Um, Mrs Boonchuy, you can’t say that (out loud at least)

Hyacinthus Iceberg Meme EXPLAIN (P2)
Part 1 Part 2 ✿ Part 3 ✿ Part 4 ✿ Part 5
It's time for me to answer your questions about this Hyacinthus iceberg meme. There is a lot to tackle, so I'll divide it into 5 parts for the sake of my sanity.
Quick disclaimer: I am NOT an expert in Greek mythology, just a fan of Hyacinthus who wants to learn about him and anyone related to him. Most of the things I'm about to discuss are just theories and speculations of a passerby on the Internet, so do not take them as valid facts!
Apollo x Hyacinthus x Cyparissus
This OT3 has one painting made by Alexander Andreyevich Ivanov, but it's enough to convince me they are canon.
Tumblr media
What's interesting about Hyacinthus and Cyparissus is that they are also pursued by Zephyrus, and the flower/tree they transform into after death represents mourning and sorrow.
"A young Lakonian [Hyakinthos] shook Zephyros; but he died, and the amorous Wind found young Cyparissus a consolation for Amyklaian Hyakinthos." - Nonnus, Dionysiaca
"[Apollo to Cyparissus] And the God, groaning with sorrow, said, 'You shall be mourned sincerely by me, surely as you mourn for others, and forever you shall stand in grief, where others grieve.'" - Ovid, "Metamorphoses"
Apollo x Hyacinthus x Boreas
I used to talk about this OT3 before. It's interesting because, unlike Zephyrus, Boreas seems fine with Hyacinthus dating Apollo and even dated Apollo before.
There aren't any paintings or ancient literature written explicitly about their relationship. It's more of an "if you think about it" thought.
(I won't discuss Apollo & Boreas because we will get off track, but there is a post about them for anyone interested!)
Hyacinthus' death symbolizes the vegetation wilted under the summer heat
Since Hyacinthus is assumed to be a pre-Hellenic nature god, and Apollo is the god of sunlight, we can piece together that Hyacinthus dying by Apollo is the metaphor of the plants dying under the scorching sun. This is why I said in Part 1 that Zephyrus killing Hyacinthus is a later version, and I'll say his present will ruin the myth. Having Zephyrus (the wind) as the "real" culprit will erase the original symbolism of the sun killing the plants.
(Sorry for hating you all this time, Zeph. You are in the clear now.)
Back to the main point.
Georg Friedrich Schömann seems to coin this theory in his book "Griechische Alterthümer" (1855), or he's only popularizing an existing theory. At least, that is the reference I get from the two of the sources I read.
Tumblr media
(Hellenica World, "Hyacinthia")
Tumblr media
(Michael Pettersson, "Cults of Apollo at Sparta: The Hyakinthia, the Gymnopaidai, and the Karneia")
Pettersson's essay also mentions G. F. Unger, another author who supports the theory.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or we can take a step further and say this myth is about one god usurping another. As I said, Hyacinthus is a god worshipped in Amyclae long before the arrival of Apollo, so it's not a stretch to say his death at Apollo's hands also metaphorizes his cult getting replaced by Apollo's cult. It's the same as Apollo killing and replacing the Python as the patron of Delphi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Damian Pierzak, "The Case of Apollo and Hyacinth in the 'Second Tetralogy' Attributed to Antiphon")
However, there is one thing that I haven't understood.
In the myths, once Apollo killed the Python, he took over the Delphin temple for good. But in the case of Hyacinthus, Apollo is said to mourn Hyacinthus greatly and later revive him from death. He even shared the Hyacinthia festival and Amyclean shrine with Hyacinthus, with his statue built on top of Hyacinthus' tomb)
Is there a historical event that made the people worship both gods together instead of replacing one with another? Or are Apollo and Hyacinthus' joint worship an eventual thing? We'll never know for sure.
Hyacinthus is resurrected + Hyacinthus represents the death and rebirth cycle of nature
Hyacinthus' resurrection is like the hidden ending most people are unaware of, but it's a thing. No, we are not making it up because there are legit records and studies about it.
Tumblr media
(Pausanias, "Description of Greece")
Tumblr media
(Nonnus, "Dionysiaca")
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Angeliki Petropoulou, "Hyakinthos and Apollo of Amyklai: Identities and Cults A Reconsideration of the Written Evidence")
From here, we can assume that Hyacinthus' death and resurrection is the allegory for the cycle of plant life and death, like how Persephone descending to and ascending from the Underworld is the allegory for season change.
However, I only draw this conclusion from mythology blogs. Few ancient poets and professional scholars seem to talk about this theme of Hyacinthus.
As of now, I've only got these two sources that slightly discuss it:
Tumblr media
(Ovid, "Metamorphoses")
Ovid's version is debatable because Hyacinthus still remains dead in his story. We can argue that Hyacinthus still "lives on" in the form of the flower, but it won't align with Hyacinthus' resurrection in the myths.
Tumblr media
(Damian Pierzak, "The Case of Apollo and Hyacinth in the 'Second Tetralogy' Attributed to Antiphon")
Again, Mr. Pierzak cites Ovid's retelling when he mentions the "Hyacinthus is connected to nature's rebirth" theory.
I'm still looking for more accounts (both from ancient Greek and scholarly research) where Hyacinthus is fully revived and symbolizes the plants' cycle. If anyone has anything, please let me know! I would love to read more!
The Hyacinthia festival
The Hyacinthia festival is confirmed not only in mythology but also in history.
Tumblr media
(Michael Pettersson, "Cults of Apollo at Sparta: The Hyakinthia, the Gymnopaidai, and the Karneia")
Tumblr media
(Pausanias, "Description of Greece")
Until now, people are still studying about this ancient festival.
Tumblr media
(Angeliki Petropoulou, "Hyakinthos and Apollo of Amyklai: Identities and Cults A Reconsideration of the Written Evidence")
I will talk about the Hyacinthia's rituals, practices, history, etc., but then we'll be here until next summer. So, I recommend everyone check out this post made by a Paganist for a deeper study.

there are a lot of Popular versions of animals that im like. i get a little bit annoyed abt how popular they are bc people love them bc they're Not like the animal usually is & they don't like that animal but they like This One Version of that animal. like orchid mantis are pretty popular even w people who haaaaate all insects. some ppl will think orchid mantises are so pretty and love them still bc they dont look like "other bugs" and they're pink and so on. or people will be scared of snakes but they'll Love ball pythons and coo about their Baby faces that dont look like "other snakes" so they're good but all other snakes are bad.
i Do realise this is such a small & pointless thing to be mad abt it is just a pet peeve of mine. like why wouldn't u use this as an in to realise that u can appreciate bugs & snakes (& whatever other animal) and start learning to appreciate the other ones. there are so many beautiful animals in the world that go unappreciated!! so even tho i like a lot of popular animals (like these two ive mentioned - i have huge issues with how much ball pythons are bred tho but thats a different thing) i just let that go & would rather focus on animals that have no one talking abt them and no one appreciating them. bc in my brain it's like. well these animals get enough Positive Energies and Love id rather use my energy more Productively and give it to animals who don't get much of it . if that makes sense

Expanding and cleaning up on a conversion I had with @suntreehq in the comments of this post:
Ruby is fine, I'm just being dramatic. It's not nearly as incomprehensible as I find JavaScript, Perl, or Python. I think it makes some clumsy missteps, and it wouldn't be my first (or even fifth) choice if I were starting a new project, but insofar as I need to use it in my Software Engineering class I can adapt.
There are even things I like about it -- it's just that all of them are better implemented in the languages Ruby borrows them from. I don't want Lisp with Eiffel's semantics, I want Lisp with Lisp's semantics. I don't want Ada with Perl's type system, I want Ada with Ada's type system.
One of these missteps to me is how it (apparently) refuses to adopt popular convention when it comes to the names and purposes of its keywords.
Take yield. In every language I've ever used, yield has been used for one purpose: suspending the current execution frame and returning to something else. In POSIX C, this is done with pthread_yield(), which signals the thread implementation that the current thread isn't doing anything and something else should be scheduled instead. In languages with coroutines, like unstable Rust, the yield keyword is used to pause execution of the current coroutine and optionally return a value (e.g. yield 7; or yield foo.bar;), execution can then be resumed by calling x.resume(), where x is some coroutine. In languages with generators, like Python, the behavior is very similar.
In Ruby, this is backwards. It doesn't behave like a return, it behaves like a call. It's literally just syntax sugar for using the call method of blocks/procs/lambdas. We're not temporarily returning to another execution frame, we're entering a new one! Those are very similar actions, but they're not the same. Why not call it "run" or "enter" or "call" or something else less likely to confuse?
Another annoyance comes in the form of the throw and catch keywords. These are almost universally (in my experience) associated with exception handling, as popularized by Java. Not so in Ruby! For some unfathomable reason, throw is used to mean the same thing as Rust or C2Y's break-label -- i.e. to quickly get out of tightly nested control flow when no more work needs to be done. Ruby does have keywords that behave identically to e.g. Java or C++'s throw and catch, but they're called raise and rescue, respectively.
That's not to say raise and rescue aren't precedented (e.g. Eiffel and Python) but they're less common, and it doesn't change the fact that it's goofy to have both them and throw/catch with such similar but different purposes. It's just going to trip people up! Matsumoto could have picked any keywords he could have possibly wanted, and yet he picked the ones (in my opinion) most likely to confuse.
I have plenty more and deeper grievances with Ruby too (sigils, throws being able to unwind the call stack, object member variables being determined at runtime, OOP in general being IMO a clumsy paradigm, the confusing and non-orthogonal ways it handles object references and allocation, the attr_ pseudo-methods feeling hacky, initialization implying declaration, the existence of "instance_variable_get" totally undermining scope visibility, etc., etc.) but these are I think particularly glaring (if inconsequential).

Why do you think that Wirt freaks out over big snuggly pythons? Do you have an opinion?
Pythons are known for choking off their prey, no? If one wrapped around me, I'd be scared...
Is this related to the Jason Funderberker anaconda? Because there I'm sure 90% of his fright comes from the snake being Jason. He's honestly terrified of the boy because of his popularity, even if he has the courage to bite back (which he rarely does.)
So yeah. Just seeing one, it's not guaranteed that he'd freak out.

THE PRINCESS WEI YANG - 184 PART 1
CHAPTER 184: Python Horror
At the banquet, Princess Lin'an unexpectedly attended with Jiang Nan, which attracted everyone's attention. If Jiang Nan sat at the bottom like everyone else, maybe everyone wouldn't criticize her so much, but he happened to sit next to the princess, very close to her, so close that their bodies were touching. Not only that, as if he was afraid that others would not know about their relationship, he actually leaned close to her to whisper a few words, and the princess suddenly chuckled. The guests looked at this with no expression on their faces, but started whispering in private.
Madam Guo shook her head and said, "This princess is getting more and more outrageous."
Li Wei Yang glanced at it and said with a smile on her face: "Mother, has the princess always been like this?"
Madam Guo is a very gentle and cheerful person who never gossips about others, but she is obviously disapproving of Princess Lin'an: "Not long after she got married, she fell in love with the prince's brother-in-law. The two of them went out in public together in the city, yet Prince Consort Ye didn't dare interfere in this matter. This is all the connivance of Empress Pei."
Li Wei Yang glanced at Princess Lin'an, her face thoughtful.
Empress Pei has three children in total, one is Crown Prince Yongwen, the other is Princess Lin'an, and the youngest daughter is Princess Anguo. All her thoughts are on her son, and it is not surprising that she lets her daughter take care of themselves, but from a certain perspective, the Emperor also played an important role in developing such a wanton character in the dignified princess. Li Wei Yang really wants to know what kind of person the Emperor of Yuexi is, and why he still turns a blind eye even though he knows the actions of Empress Pei and others...
Madam Guo thought that her daughter was interested in this news, so she couldn't help sighing and said: "The men around Princess Lin'an come and go like a revolving door, but she has never brought anyone to such a banquet. It can be seen that this person has an extraordinary status in her heart."
Li Wei Yang smiled and said nothing. Jiang Nan was handsome and upright, with a very sharp mind and a cold arrogance. He was already very popular with women when he was in Dali. No matter how indifferent he was, there were still people who would stick to him regardless. This was probably due to a mentality that the more one was rejected, the more one wanted to get it. He had always been ignoring Princess Lin'an's appetite and never surrendered to her until she was completely obsessed with him. This method was not bad. Just thinking of the scene just now, Li Wei Yang's smile had a hint of ridicule. Being reduced to relying on a woman for revenge is an extremely painful thing for Jiang Nan.
After what happened just now, Princess Lin'an went to change her clothes. The red background made her skin look as white as snow. When raising a glass to drink, the wide sleeves slipped down to her elbows, revealing a section of arms that looked like mutton-fat white jade. Her already gorgeous face became even more vibrant after drinking the wine. Jiang Nan lowered his head and joked with her again, but a his eyes lightly swept over Li Wei Yang's face.
Li Wei Yang sighed in her heart. It seems that Jiang Nan has become twisted in this kind of pain.
On the male guest's side, it was a different scene. Zhou Jing, the youngest son of Zhou Zhen, the Marquis of Chengting, was good-looking and liked beautiful women. From the moment Princess Lin'an appeared, he stared at her non-stop and said regretfully: "That man must be Princess Lin'an's new pet. He doesn't look like much, why does the princess just keep him alone!"
He spoke with an envious tone. One must know that although Princess Lin'an had been married before, because she is extremely beautiful, charming, and has a noble status, she has always been the target of many popular young men. Zhou Jing had always wanted to get close to her. However, his aunt had repeatedly warned him not to get close to the romantic Princess Lin'an, let alone have any thoughts of marrying her, so he suppressed all those desires. It was fine when she had many lovers, and he didn't think anything of it. But now that he saw her giving up her other pets for some "Young Master Nan" who appeared out of nowhere, Zhou Jing couldn't help but feel uncomfortable.
There was so much sarcasm in his words that all the noble gentlemen in the room laughed knowingly. Guo Cheng smiled slightly and said: "Don't just take everything at face value. I heard that there were many people in the princess's house who were jealous of him. Many even provoked him openly and made trouble secretly, but they all died in his hands. However Princess Lin'an turned a blind eye to this, and proudly told others that Young Master Nan was extraordinary in both civil and military affairs. Although this statement contained an element of favoritism, it was not far from the truth."
Zhou Jing opened his mouth in surprise, "Is this guy really that evil?"
Guo Cheng's smile contained a hint of insight: "There are many masters in the Princess Mansion, but they were all defeated by him one by one, and not a single one was left alive. This shows that this person is ruthless and has poisonous intentions. Of course, if it is Young Master Zhou, If you don't believe it, you can try the opponent's martial arts—"
What he said was actually very pertinent and not exaggerated. Men will be jealous of each other, especially in order to please a great beauty like Princess Lin'an who is also the pearl in the palm of her parents. Naturally, they have to spend all their efforts to fight for her. Furthermore, those people who were taken into Princess Lin'an's residence were all truly outstanding in terms of literary talent or martial arts, but now they have all quieted down and did not dare to compete with Jiang Nan. This shows that this person is not an ordinary embroidered pillow (t/n: term for a person who looks good or appears noble, but is mostly useless), but someone witha lot of talent.
Guo Cheng's eyes fell on the stern-faced Jiang Nan, and he couldn't help but think of the investigations he conducted after confirming the other party's identity. Every word and every report was a compliment to the young man's great achievements. His bravery was by no means comparable to ordinary people, it is natural for him to stand out, and, judging from the current situation, he has hidden most of his strength.
From the bottom of his heart, Guo Cheng despises such a man who relies on nepotism to climb up the ladder. But if he were in Jiang Nan's position and was forced to the end of the road, he would never be able to do such a thing, because he is deeply influenced by the Guo family. Those who have been well educated and raised would rather die with the enemy than live in humiliation. But what he couldn't do, Jiang Nan did. Such people are very dangerous.
Zhou Jing ground his teeth in jealousy and looked at Jiang Nan with more and more displeasure, but he said bravely: "What's the point? I'll have a good competition with him when I have the energy next time!"
Although the Zhou family has invited countless famous instructors to teach him, it is also known to everyone that Zhou Jing is still an embroidered pillow. He said this just to conceal the envy in his heart. Everyone tried to hide it by drinking, but they all laughed at him secretly.
Of course, some people noticed Li Wei Yang. One of them was Chen Xuanhua, the legitimate son of the Chen family, one of the top ten aristocratic families in Yuexi. The Chen family has been officials for generations. According to the historical records of Yuexi, there were 12 generations and more than 100 people in the House of Chen, and most of the them entered official careers and spread throughout the political and military circles. They gave orders and held high positions. Like the Guo family, they were a century-old family. However, great things must come to an end. During the reign of the late emperor, a sudden disaster occurred - a rebellion swept across the south of the Yangtze River, which affected the Chen family. Coupled with the former emperor's suspicion of the Chen family, they declined rapidly. Fortunately, today, the Chen family first established a successful foothold, and one of their daughters entered the palace and became Noble Consort Chen, and they soon rose to be one of the first-class noble families again.
The Chen family is well-known and their daughters are all true noble ladies, with both talent and beauty. Therefore, when they reach adulthood, the Chen family's threshold will be worn down by matchmakers. However, after careful consideration, the Chen family rejected all suitors. Instead, they took the initiative to send people to the Guo family to negotiate, and married Chen Bingbing, the eldest daughter of the Chen family, into the Guo family. She was Young Madam Chen, the wife of Guo Yan, the second son of the Guo family.
Of course, this is just the external explanation, and many people know the inside story. While Chen Bingbing was on an outing she fell in love at first sight with Guo Yan, an auxilary general, who was riding a tall horse and armed with a long sword. For this reason, she stopped eating or drinking, and was restless day and night until she was wasting away. Finally, she was forced by the matriarch of the Chen family to reveal her true feelings. When the Chen family realized that who their daughter was interested in was not some prodigal son, but a promising young general, they immediately went to the other party to discuss the matter. In the end, Miss Chen happily married into the Guo family and became a general's wife.
Chen Xuanhua is Chen Bingbing's biological brother, the legitimate son of Chen's family, a true son of an aristocratic house. In addition, he is elegant, handsome, and friendly, and has always had a good reputation among the noble ladies. As he listened to people talking about Princess Lin'an, his face was careless, but his eyes fell on Li Wei Yang. From then on, he has observed this  daughter of the Guo family who suddenly returned. She sat quietly next to Madam Guo, with clear black eyes and a strong smile in the corner of her mouth, like a bouquet of indescribably elegant flowers, captivating to look at.
After all, although the gorgeous and dazzling Princess Lin'an is eye-catching, not everyone likes the domineering peony. What Chen Xuanhua admires happens to be a gentle beauty like Li Wei Yang. Such a woman has the power to move people's hearts.
He whispered to Guo Cheng: "After the banquet, can you introduce your sister to me?"
Guo Cheng glanced at him with a little surprise on his face and said, "Xuanhua, don't tell me that you're interested in my sister."
Chen Xuanhua's features were very distinct and handsome, and upon closer inspection, his eyes were like bright rivers, indescribably elegant. He just smiled shyly and said, "I hope you will consider the fact that our families are on friendly terms and do me this favor."
Guo Cheng felt his head ache so he pressed his brow and said: "Well...I'm afraid I can't make the decision. My sister is my mother's lifeblood. If she knows that I took you to see her, she will definitely break one of my legs. Not only is the risk too great, it wouldn't be worth it at all." He was embarrassed to say that his brothers were all bandits, especially Guo Dun. He wished that his sister would stay at home to please their mother all her life, and tried every means to block the many suitors. He's afraid that before the gentle and elegant Chen Xuanhua could even get to Li Wei Yang, he would be injured. That's fine with others, but the Chen family and the Guo family are closely related, so it's hard to handle.
Chen Xuanhua glanced at Li Wei Yang, and felt that the elegant smile was more and more moving. He couldn't help but say: "On the account that we've been classmates for so many years —" Let him take a shortcut.
Guo Cheng shook his head and said: "I advise you to give up on this idea. My family has already married a daughter of the Chen family, so they definitely will not send a daughter to your door."
Chen Xuanhua asked anxiously, "Why can't we marry each other?"
Guo Cheng did not have to answer, but because Chen Xuanhua came to ask this question sincerely, for the sake of being a classmate and friend for many years, Guo Cheng thought for a moment, then lowered his voice and said slowly: " Xuanhua, to tell you the truth, my family has already given your family second brother, isn't that enough?"
Chen Xuanhua was stunned for a moment, and then a trace of sadness slowly appeared in his handsome eyes. He stopped talking and lowered his head to look at the wine in the glass.
Guo Cheng sighed. This is Chen Xuanhua's personality. He is a good man, responsible and honest, and he is gentle and elegant. He is talented in both civil and military affairs. If he marries Li Wei Yang, he will definitely take good care of her. However, Li Wei Yang would not be willing to do so, let alone that she is not the real Guo Jia. Even if she is, Madam Guo will respect her personal wishes at all costs.
