Yep! The long and short of it is that Splinter invested in the good shit. (How did he afford the good shit? Donnn't worry about it. Same way he was able to cut a deal with Big Mama...)

The Cloaking Crystals are specifically designed for long-term wear, the bracelets are small and minimal so as to not get in the way of day-to-day, and are enchanted so that they fit snugly and won't fall off by accident-- they have to be deliberately removed with intention. Splinter spent weeks teaching his sons how to wear bracelets without bothering them (even before he got the actual cloaking brooches) and drilling into them how important it was to never ever take them off.

After a while, the brothers just got used to having them on, and really didn't have any reason to ever take them off. I imagine that there was at least one occasion (when they were still young,) where one of the brothers (probably Leo...) started messing with his, but...

Dad didn't even get mad. He yelled a little, sure, and he stopped Leo right away, but... They could tell he wasn't angry. He was scared. They had never seen his face look like that before.

... They kind of decided after that that they really shouldn't ever take the bracelets off. Dad said it kept them safe, and it seemed like he meant it. Now that they're older, they mostly just chalk it up to it being some kind of superstitious thing on their Dad's part, but they remember how important it is to him, and that he told them not to, so... They just haven't.

Not yet, anyway.

chapter 1 of reassassination's nearly done script-wise! hopefully the next chapters won't take like 6 months of on-and-off work to complete lol

#but i have GOOD REASON as to why it took so long #1. i had no clue how exactly to write the characters and they literally swapped characterisation with every scene #luckily now i've solidified krankenstein as a paranoid control freak #and octavia as a superficially cool girl with a sailor's mouth and zero social awareness #honestly its so hard to explain her chara. basically: character who seems stoic and cool and mysterious but is actually just super autistic #2. i had NO CLUE how and when to expose information #now chapter 1 only gives a superficial look at krank and octavia's characters and the most basic info about postmortem #and the “rules” of octavia (perfect pendant etc)#and 3. i was writing it like a standalone for a while #i had to put a lot of changes into the script in order to turn the chapter into the foundation for a few opening “mini-arcs”#of which will give a lot of characterisation and purpose into postmortem highschool characters #like onion and jaundice #rather than being kind of disconnected like before #anyway now that im nearly done all i need to do is FINALFINALFINALise the designs #(which will probably have a shit ton more changes to make em actually drawable over and over again)#and design environments and props (like krankenstein medical clinic and postmortem as a whole)#even so i only want to start releasing the comic when at least a quarter of the scripts are done and the story is 100% finalised #i have a lot of freedom being out of school right now so i want to write as much as possible #so i guess it will release around late 2025 or mid 2026 in the best case scenario assuming something insane doesnt happen to me

#this is about Stephen king #yes the author was high as shit on cocaine #which is probably why he wrote such horrific scenes #but also #a lot of women were stay at home wives even in the 80s #so yeah jacks wife didn’t leave him when he broke their sons arm #because leaving an abusive relationship is hard enough today #let alone in the 80s as a woman with no support or financial independence #you’re a teen in the 70s and your parents beat the shit out of you and you want out but you’re ugly and awkward and you find a car #and it’s ugly too but you can fix it up and you can see it now #so yeah you buy it and defend your decision against your friend #because you need some freedom #and some joy #the shining #christine #Stephen king #stephen king writes about human pride and error okay #honestly a lot of Stephen king stories are about someone in a rough headspace being taken advantage of #Jack was an alcoholic who was struggling to be a better person and the sprit of the hotel knew that #the boy in Christine and Carrie were both ugly and awkward teenagers needing a way out amd the evil gave them that #they guy in pet semetary had just suffered a horrific loss of his child and knew that there was a way to resurrect him #and he was being verbally abused by his in laws at his sons funeral prior #people in desperate places take desperate measures

not going to lie i do find it quite upsetting that so many ppl think that animals that arent immediately relatable to humans are completely incapable of thought or feeling. and thats the only thing that matters when it comes to animal rights arguments a lot of the time

killer should know about dumb video game meta stuff ike i-frames and animation cancels and critting amd breaking out of bounds and use it to his advantage in fights. maybe he learned it from chara in something new as a silly little thing to try out because theyre already teaching him all this bullshit on killing so whos to say a video game character cant learn a player's cheats?? he's already interacted and collaborated with a player before i think its fair he knows tricks on how to cheat undertale's fighting system

everything's all fine and dandy in a fight against killer (no it isn't) until you see him glitching around and somehow phasing through your attacks. he looks ridiculous but it gets the job done

Yes!!!! the PM is also in the tags! i couldn't make a murder mystery AU set in Los Angeles of all places and not have corporations with dirty hands and deep-pocketed old-money types floating around their establishments. Los Angeles doesn't and didn't have a main crime family with a lot of Aura, so inserting the PM without feeling like I was replacing a very real crime syndicate ( like I would if this was NY or Chicago ) was quite nice.

Yeah . . . TSP Atsushi is a whole different thing, on the surface at least. He's older, more experienced ( Yeah. ), and honestly, has bigger problems to deal with than the budding realization that he might like men so he just waltzes into flirtation with Akutagawa like it's nothing. If I were Ryuu I'd have pushed him down the stairwell by now, but he's too smitten for that.

I need to draw Mori in that shirt ( he did step up, after all. The Tsushimas weren't great, even if Dazai thinks of them with that wistfulness seen in Chapter 2 ).

I feel so powerfully having done my French homework for once.

What if similar to the celestial dragons being the descendants of the original 20 kings, those who carry the initial D are the descendants of the lost kingdom? And that's why the celestials are scared of them?
