Thinking abt how Peter canonically shoots film and probably shoots on a second hand Pentax K/Canon A line/Nikon F3 he found at a second hand shop. Its light meter is busted. The winder keeps braking off when he tries to rewind his rolls.
Anyway, this is a vehicle for me to say that Tony would buy him a Leica, and I am very jealous of him.
#starker#“oh babe you want to learn medium format?#*here’s a hasselblad that cost more than a years tuition*

Tina!! That GREMLIN!!
I left the half wound skein of yarn on the table with the pieces of my disassembled yarn winder, thinking I'd rewind it when the new one gets here tomorrow. All of a sudden I hear a suspicious noise. I look up. My swift with the rest of the skein on it in the other room is spinning wildly and I see Tina come running into the living room BATTING MY CAKE AROUND ON THE FLOOR
Yarn spanning from the kitchen table to the cat tree through a doorway and around the corner. She got wrapped up in it. My yarn was WET. Had to untangle her, untangle the yarn wrapped around my swift, and wind the rest of the yarn into a ball so she couldn't get to it which I hate doing because it puts the yarn under tension which I dislike doing.
AND
All the disassembled pieces of my yarn winder were on the floor!!

I wound 10 skeins into cakes rapid fire yesterday, now my forearms and specifically the right arm and shoulder are very sore
Also yesterday I saw the winder I wanted in stock again and ordered it immediately, so today or tomorrow it'll be in my hands, which. Doesn't actually feel real
The temptation to try it out right away will be strong for sure
Though I think it will be less bothersome than my older winder, which in tandem with the umbrella thingamajig kept spinning in place and so winding the yarn in lumpy circle instead of properly spreading it. And I had to unwind and redo them, but from the desk yeah
Oh I might actually try the New Apparatus out by rewinding an older somewhat lumpy cake!..
Also good contenders: minis. There'll be. So many to wind. I got 3 sets...

Yeah, got behind because I wanted to include photos of my crochet and kept procrastinating on that, so have a verbose post of four days at once.
Aug 15 - finished the green and white cotton wool scarf! Overall pretty pleased with how it came out. It's a little weighty and has great drape, as cotton generally does.

Then I killed some time looking at various shell crochet based shawl patterns online, before settling on a simple one with a good video tutorial, Lacy Triangle Shawl by Hopeful Turns (damn but she's a fast crocheter).
For supper I got the pair of remaining moose hand pies out of the freezer, and reheated them in the air fryer. Served them with potatoes mashed with chopped green onions and smoked paprika, steamed butternut squash, and a couple of fresh garden tomatoes cut in quarters.
Aug 16 - More crochet, more Anno 1800. I'm half regretting going for such a fine yarn; thinnest one I've ever worked with, which is proving to be a PITA. But it'll look fantastic if I manage to complete it. Right now I'm just trying to start it; I keep making mistakes and having to frog back and try again.
Supper was mild Italian sausages with hashed potatoes and corn.
Aug 17 - slept in stupidly late after staying up until stupidly early. Disordered sleeping'r'us.
It was due to a combination of Anno 1800 and getting very focused on crochet once I went to bed; I'm finding that crocheting for a bit before trying to sleep usually helps my brain wind down. Anyway, I finally got the hang of the pattern of repeats for the lacy shell crochet and got a reasonable start on it:

After that I decided since I was still feeling too wired to sleep that I might as well frog the crochet vines (the scale of them really is completely wrong), drag out my yarn winder to rewind the variegated yarn from that into a cake, and then start on yet another scarf using the green yarn I'd been using for the leaves. Yup, I now have two projects on the go at once. Got the first few rows of it done before I finally felt tired enough to sleep, on the wrong aide of dawn. Brain, why do you do this to me?
Once I finally got up, showered, dressed, etc, I didn't really have time (or motivation) to cook anything else, so supper was pasta, with meat sauce from the freezer.
Aug 18 - Day started out with a nice long power outage, so what did I do? Crochet, of course! Overcast day so I stuck with working on the green scarf, which doesn't need me to work under a light to differentiate the loops from each other (also helps that it's all one colour). Made pretty decent progress on it, since the rather large yarn (having to use my biggest crochet hook with it) means it adds up fast. I'm working this one out of my head, not from a pattern. I think I'm going to aim for about three times as long as it is wide, if the wool lasts that far, as it's quite wide.

Not a big fan of the yarn. It's 100% acrylic (Red Heart stuff) and works up very stiff; even with netting parts I think the final scarf might be uncomfortably bulky and not have nice drape, though that may improve with size, as its own weight will affect that. I'm mostly thinking it'll go in a pile of stuff to eventually donate or give away or something, since there's only so many scarfs or shawls or whatever my mostly house-bound self needs.
I need to find a sizable project to work on that isn't either of those two types of items. Maybe buy a LOT of yarn and make something sweater-ish. I'm looking at the construction of a poncho-style ice dyed top I purchased recently and thinking it might lend itself really well to a crochet coverup to wear over other items; it's basically two same-sized rectangles, with a slight scoop at the middle of one long side for the neck opening, joined along that long seam, and then partially up each short side, but set in from the edge hems so there's a few inches of loose fabric beyond the side hems to be all flowy:

It looks like it should be very easy to make out of a couple crochet panels, I just have to figure out how to work the scoop. I'm thinking make the back panel first, from the top hem on down, then starting at the top edge of it again work the front panel directly off of it as well, so my starting chain is lost in the join except along the back of the neck opening. Then I just have to slip stitch the side hems and done.
Ended the day playing even more Anno 1800. I'm teetering back and forth between making and losing money, but am generally gaining more than I'm losing. Have gotten even further than last time (yay!) and have now hit a spot where I can see a hump looming that I need to get over or around, can see what the way past it probably is, and just have to work through some prerequisites to unlock some technology so that I can change from shipping a bunch of things long distance from other regions, to making them locally out of alternate (local) materials.
For supper I made corned beef hash. Yum.

Next up on the fandom swap challenge, we’ve got Fubuki Clockford from Rain Code as a BATDR character! (GOD WHY DO SO MANY OF THESE INVOLVE BATDR)
Decided to base her design off of Carley/Slicer. Don’t ask me why I made her right arm absolutely ripped, I was probably just excited to be able to do something in the BATDR style rather than the other way around.
Her name is Winder, and her mechanic is that she’ll sometimes show up in combat every now and again and rewind time as soon as she’s defeated, restoring all the other enemies to full health but keeping your health and stamina the same. Real force to be reckoned with.

What is the best watch winder?
You could always find a discount watch winder or buy the cheapest watch winders, but most of the automatic watch owners are dealing with the click here to learn more decision whether to buy Steinhausen watch winders, Scatola watch winders or Eilux watch winder.
For the sake of propriety, a few words about watch winders: Automatic watch winders are mainly used for two purposes:
Automatic watch winder – Automatic watches are getting more and more common. Instead of rewinding the watch manually each time the power reserve is out, one can use a watch winder. It may get more complicated to manually wind watches with complicated parameters such as perpetual calendar and moon phase.
Winding watches with screwed crowns – Each time one screws or unscrews the crown is worn down. Watch winders will enable the watch to operate for a longer time.
Before we go on, I must add one more suggestion: When buying a new watch winder, get also a watch winder box or a watch winder case to protect your watch winder.
The number one automatic watch winder is definitely the Scatola watch winder. The Scatola watch winder is designed by world class artisans. In fact, Scatola watch winders are manufactured in limited quantities so you can be sure of the extra care that goes into each watch winder. A Scatola watch winder is made of quality products such as gold plated clasps and zippers, and Swiss made high precision micro motors.
The next best watch winder would have to be the Stein hausen watch winder. A Stein hausen watch winders certainly has the best prestige look of all automatic watch winders. It is the best way to display your watches collection in your living room and impress your friends.

I'm trying out the brand new winder!..
It's. Behaving kinda weird with the thicker yarns, though it could be my inexperience multiplied by the yarn texture, but: with thinner yarns it easily forms this dome on top of the holder, but the thicker yarn was slipping all the time... I have one more type of thick wool in skeins that is basically merino roving, I'll see if that winder makes friends with it
Anyways, comparisons time! Old winder makes "traditional cakes", new one does those rounded ones

Those are not the prettiest pictures, I know, but. I didn't even do such a good job of winding it either :(
Overall: the new winder is SO COMFORTABLE for left-hand use. Yes the label and the instructions to remove the band when not in use are upside down, but even just. The ability to fully turn it 180° is great. The yarn guide is fully on the right side then, and you can insert the brace for affixing the winder to the desk from either side. While in the other winder I have, the yarn guide is behind and to the left, with the turning handle in the front
Also it works perfectly with the umbrella for skeins. And at first I couldn't figure out how to get proper tension when NOT going off the winder (but instead, say, winding from a small pile on the desk), but. Now I'm pretty confident in saying that no, that was just a skissue
Might try to rewind my big ball, now that I think of it - it WAS the first one, after all, and I didn't know how to get the tension I needed yesterday
Currently winding the Oh So Colourful Minis. It's addictive. Just like the minis themselves. Makes me want to go and rewind some Pairfect skeins into 2 balls each. Just to wind more small ones
Good thing I don't have much to do today, and the food is already cooked, haha
Is the winder pricey? Yeah! But it's enjoyable to use, and I KNOW that part of the price was because I grabbed the colourful version
Also I'll definitely be holding onto them both, after all the shapes are quite a drastic difference!..
