sometimes I just casually think about how much jesse rath clearly wanted brainy to be bi. like- brainy in 3x18 reaching towards winn’s face in a way that suggested he wanted to kiss him? him in an interview comparing how brainy felt about winn to someone having a crush? him sharing my text post meme with ‘it’s my god given bisexual right to be dramatic’ over a picture of brainy on his instagram stories? him saying he shipped brainy with winn the most during his takeover on the supergirl instagram for part 1 of crisis? other things I’m probably forgetting? it really should have been canon

given brainy’s bisexual in the comics, or at least it’s implied he is, i’m surprised the show never even confirmed it. for what it’s worth, queer representation was really important to them. but then again, they completely ignored ayla and salu’s relationship and had winn marry ayla so maybe i’m tripping. i hope she divorced his ass and got remarried to the (actual) love of her life. not sure why they couldn’t have winn date literally anyone else. nura was right there. this lowkey made me really mad at winn for breaking up the gays like that.

winn and brainy’s almost kiss scene was gold. not sure why winn didn’t want to be kissed by a beautiful man but maybe he was still pining after jimmy.

to me, the show’s finale is 6x07 and i’d like to think not long after, the legion defeated brainiac and brainy could go back home, so who knows. maybe brainy and winn do end up with each other. or maybe brainy finally gets to smooch lyle.

I'm very much a happy ending kind of girl but 'Where the flowers go' had a pretty angsty ending in one version (it has 3 separate endings).

They all have pretty happy endings but my favourite ending is probably 'and a happy new year'

Martyn/ Mumbo in the life series is a favourite. Love Ranchers. Patcap in ghosts is precious. Monwinn and Winndox in supergirl are also up there (I'm a Winn Schott fan what can I say).

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

There's a Martyn/ Mumbo fic that is basically just a daydream that I love in my head but cannot put on a page.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I constantly have ideas for fics which I guess is a strength.

Getting the motivation to actually sit down and write stuff is hard.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I love when other writers do that, I have mediocre French and Welsh so this could defo be I thing I attempt in the future.

I don't know if I have a favourite but 'I think they got me' holds a special place in my heart for reasons I can't really explain, same with 'and a happy new year' :)

Headcanon for their sexuality: I headcanon Brainy as panromantic asexual! Ace!Brainy was like one of my first ace headcanons, it is very dear to me *^*

And Winn, I think, is bi.

Have they came out? If so, how: Winn first came out to Kara, then to Alex. Semi-casual and in a very word-vomit rambling way.

I think Brainy just did in a very matter-of-factly manner. With his present-time friends anyway.

How their friends/family took their coming out: That moment when J'onn said "I'm proud of who you are" brought Winn to actual tears because his biological father was, well, never much of a father and to have his and everybody's father figure accept him was incredibly important. Kara was honestly just excited about having a queer friend, since she'd never actively made any before. Sisters don't count. Same goes for Brainy's coming out. Also I think that Kara might have played a tiny bit of a matchmaker, originally brought to you by "you are both great and you both like guys too!", but it did work out in the end. xD

Do they go to Pride/With whom?: I think Brainy would actually go in his glorious green self and everyone would just think it's a quirky queer costume. Because pride's about being who you are and that does include his green skin in Brainy's case. Winn loves that. They're going together, also with Nia, Kelly, Alex and Kara. I just realize that everyone's either canon queer or I headcanon them as queer. Afkghafghl.

Do they show their colors? (Flag-wise): During pride, they go all out. Otherwise, Brainy 100% owns many mugs with ace and pan puns on them. Also a couple shirts. Winn has bi buttons that he wears.

so, Winndox thought: did Winn really only call Brainy his friend twice? (in 3x11, casually when showing him around the DEO, and then in 5x11 during their emotional conversation). Did Brainy actually think of Winn as a friend before everything at the end of season 3 happened? Did he realize that Winn thought of him as a friend? anyway this is very sad and now I need the fic of Winn showing Brainy the rest of the DEO. And also obviously the one where they're trivial pursuit partners.

the show left us so many tantalizing gaps in winndox canon like them teaming up for game nights. they've both had complicated family history that led to their friends being their family and the most important thing in their lives so i'm so mad the development of their friendship was off screen. gimme winndox hanging out at the deo and pairing up for game nights and winn introducing brainy to 21st century pop culture and just all of it.

Winn had wanted to hope for the best.

Of course, he had no idea what he was about to discover, that day when he found the spaceship under National City harbor. But in general… he wanted Mon-El to be alive. He wanted to believe that the device- that he and Lena had built together, that Kara had activated, sending lead into the atmosphere that had ended the lives of Queen Rhea and many other Daxamite soldiers- somehow lost its effect on him once he was sent into space. That maybe, someone had found him, and helped him, just like Kara had found him in his pod so many months ago and helped him adjust to life on Earth.

Again, Winn didn’t know who would have found him. But it was a good story- and in the grand scheme of things, it wasn’t too implausible. Superman had been found by Kansas farmers as a baby, and Kara’s pod had been knocked off-course where she lingered in an endless void for a few decades, only for her to be found by her grown-up cousin. Anything could have happened to Mon-El, and Winn would have been happy if he was still breathing. Somewhere out in the universe, where the lead couldn’t touch him- nothing would’ve been better.

And when they did find him- despite how many questions he had- nothing was better. Arriving on the ship with Kara and J’onn, expecting an attack, but seeing him there instead- seeing Kara’s face light up, as she clung to him as if to make sure he was real… it made him happy just being in the room.

(If he hadn’t seemed so tired and barely able to stand afterwards, Winn probably would have hugged him too)

Mon-El was different when he woke up- quiet, distant, detached. Reluctant to speak about where he’d been, what had happened to him, what exactly he was doing on a spaceship that had apparently been under the ocean for 12 thousand years. And yeah, Winn was pissed when he found out Mon-El had attacked two DEO agents just to try and get back to his ship, and that he’d made Kara cry when he refused to explain himself. But at least the distance made sense when he found out the truth.

It had been seven years for Mon-El- and he’d done a lot in that time. Not the least of which was founding his own superhero team in Kara’s honor, living in the thirty-first century, receiving a cure for his lead poisoning and getting married to one of his teammates. Most importantly, he and Imra were there to stay, at least temporarily- because they were supposed to help fight the new supervillain that had just surfaced in National City.

Which was great! Especially the idea of a whole legion of superheroes- Winn could just imagine them in the ship Mon-El had arrived on, working in perfect harmony. Piloting the ship, controlling the weapons, making plans of attack against whatever villains they would face next- everything that would happen with any superhero team. Kind of like what happened at the DEO, except in space, flying all over the galaxy.

(If Winn was being honest, that was his wildest dream, being a part of something like that. But… he’d already gotten to live that dream in some ways, just working with Supergirl. He was fine where he was.)

What wasn’t so great was what had happened next- Kara fighting the new villain, Reign, and ending up in a coma. Winn watched her fall, bloodied and bruised, and tried to reassure himself. Kara had been in comas before, and the previous times, she’d been okay.

This time… he wasn’t so sure, and he knew the others around him felt the same way as she was wheeled into the DEO. But Mon-El, again, was quiet and calm, and looked at Imra as though they could read one another’s minds, knowing what had to happen next.

“Kara will be alright.” Imra said. “But we need to take her down to our ship… and we need to wake up one of our friends.”

“Another superhero?” Winn found himself asking, too excited for this situation.

Mon-El nodded, though he didn’t elaborate, and with that, lifted Kara into his arms, as he and Imra went to leave.

Winn was the first to follow them, and soon Imra was working on the controls for one of the empty tanks, which opened as Mon-El shifted Kara in his arms and placed her into it. The tank filled with something that Winn figured was probably not water, and the Legionnaires turned their attention to another tank- one that Winn could now see had blue lights coming from inside it. And as he took a closer look, he saw the lights on this man’s belt too, arranged in a familiar shape that only brought to mind painful memories.

“Who… who is that?”

“Our friend.” Imra said, moving over to that tank’s controls, draining it before it fully opened. “Brainiac 5- or Brainy, as we call him. He’s going to communicate with Kara for us.”

“And are you sure that’s going to work?” Alex asked.

Are you sure we want her seeing a Brainiac inside her head, Winn thought. But he kept it to himself.

“We’ve done it many times.” Mon-El reassured her. “The sooner she wakes up, the better, since Reign is still out there. And trust me- he will help her wake up.”

To be fair, he did. Which he, and especially Alex, were grateful for.

But the more time Winn spent with him, the more he realized that that was his only redeeming quality. He tried to be friends with him, sure- showed him around the DEO, asked for a tour of the Legion ship in return (and was turned down- Brainiac 5 said he didn’t need to see more than he had to), offered to take him to all the places he loved in National City, but Brainiac 5 wasn’t interested. He was, however, dismissive, always ready with a sarcastic or negative comment about the 21st century, or Winn’s lack of intelligence compared to his own. And it all came to a head when Kara had to take the Legion ship to Fort Rozz- which was promptly when everyone else in the DEO realized what he did about the Coluan.

And, unfortunately for both of them, when J’onn made his decision.

“We have to do what?”

“You have to learn how to get along.” J’onn stated. “We will not be able to defeat Reign if we don’t work together. That includes you two- so as long as the Legion is in the twenty-first century, you will be sharing a room with one another.”

We're just going to enjoy my random sketches of the Winndox Villain AU from time to time, okay? But I’m relieved that some aspects of Winn and Brainy's previous designs have changed. Some of them gave me the creeps! Sheesh, how about we give people evil villain jackets now? That’s what the people want right??

I still believe that my artistic ability transfers a lot better on traditional media than it does digital. 💀

Who would have the other’s picture as their phone background: Kate has a picture of Supergirl as her background and everyone just thinks that that’s her favorite hero and if asked about it, Kate just lists all the things that do make Supergirl the best hero, it never fails to fluster Kara, who indeed does have a picture of Kate (in civil attire) as her background

Who leaves notes written in fog on the bathroom mirror: Kara does. Sometimes even on days she hasn’t even been staying over at Kate’s. Just, quickly flew by, left bagels and a note in the mirror ;)

Who buys the other cheesy gifts: I feel like Kara does the cheesier gifts

Who initiated the first kiss: Kate did and it lasted for a while ;D

Who kisses the other awake in the morning: Kate would never. Her Supergirl is already shouldering so much and when she’s asleep, she really deserves to sleep! Kara does sometimes

Who starts tickle fights: Neither of them

Who asks who if they can join the other in the shower: Kara! She likes tracing Kate’s tattoos with a sponge ^o^

Who surprises the other in the middle of the day at work with lunch: Kara, if her time allows it, she will fly over, visit Kate for a quick lunch!

Who was nervous and shy on the first date: Kara was shy, Kate was nervous, it was a bit awkward, but since both felt awkward, that was also a tension breaker for them ;)

Who kills/takes out the spiders: Kate does; Kara is not above opening a portal and dragging Kate through it so she can take care of a spider for Kara too ùû (I’d like to imagine that Cisco’s little pocket-portals will be developed into boom-tube-esque transport systems between the slowly forming Justice League... and Kara and Kate get an early prototype of that to link their apartments and make their long-distance relationship easier)

Who loudly proclaims their love when they’re drunk: Kate is good at handling her alcohol and Kara isn’t used to being drunk and if she does get drunk, she will wax poetry!
