I feel like I'm going insane reading all the terrible information coming out of the currently on-going trial of the alleged murderers of Brianna Ghey, a transgender teenager who was murdered here in the UK several months ago, some of the most bleak shit imaginable, allegations of months and months of attempts to poison Brianna (and then finally resorting to stabbing her multiple times), very explicit transphobia in a lot of the leaked transcripts (including Boy X, the male teenage alleged murderer, writing that he wanted to see if Brianna screamed like a man or a woman) juxtaposed against TERFs and general transphobes rushing like vultures to a rotting carcass to "correct" journalists who are using she/her pronouns for Brianna, turning themselves inside out to try and make excuses for murder (I know a lot of autistic people fyi, and they don't horrifically murder trans people or anyone lol), and making sure to remind everyone that the killing had nothing to do with transphobia (because it was never explictly charged as a hate crime), not at all, the alleged murderers of Brianna were just looking for some rando to kill. Like.....are you all collectively hallucinating a scenario where YOU look like the morally decent people in a situation where you are bending over backwards to diminish the brutal death of a 16 year old? Even if it could be proved 100% that transphobia played no part in Brianna's death, you still look like freaks. Seriously.
If you can even make the horrific murder of a teenager all about you and your foulness, you are very very sick.

You know I think we can resolve a lot of our problems and moral dilemma by asking ourselves "does this really matters that much?"
#this is mostly in relation to current moral panic specifically in france but i think it van apply to a variety of contexts#like idk if yall know but france hate muslim people (specifically women) so much and it's so absurd#like... so much debate over muslim girls in school specifically#'we can't let them wear hijabs cuz hijab is a symbol of oppression*' okay well does it really matters that much?#isn't it more important to let them go to fucking school in peace instead of forcing them to remove it#(*i know it's stupid but that's the mainstream view of the hijab in france)#'but we have to stay religiously neutral at school' why? i understand teachers being religiously neutral but students who care?#wouldn't it be better to let anyone exprime their identity instead of forcing a standard‚ so‚ y'know‚ people can learn about diversity?#'well sometimes they refuse to go to swimming lessons because they don't want to be half naked in front of boys/men'#yeah i can understand that somehow not sure it's specific to their religion tho maybe we shouldn't force kids to get half naked idk#maybe we could allow them to go to female only swimming lessons if they want to#'WHAT?! but that's separating bous from girls that's sexist and we won't surrender to that backwards vie-' does it really matters?#obviously i don't believe society should be segregated between men and women but here isn't it more important that those kids learn to swim?#(yeah i fucking hate this debate)#and that works for a lot of subjects#'but trans people-' that's 0.09% of people what the fuck are you talking about#'but if we let kids transition and they regret it' yeah what if? sometimes people do shit they regret (but let's look at the stats too)#if they have regrets we should support and help them and that's it#and like‚ sometimes the answer is 'yes' and if it is you have to keep fighting for your cause#but you have to choose your fights donlt waste energy again things that don't matter that much

ur post about queerbaiting and the dismissal of people in fandom to critical analysis is so incredibly true thank you. i feel like marcille's writing in the anime has been super misogynistic a lot of the time and every time i bring this up all anyone wants to say is "well maybe this isn't for you! and you shouldn't watch the show!" like. i don't think this is about taste lmao, i am analyzing the text in front of me and coming to conclusions about the craft of it.
[This is in reference to this post]
YES!!! THANK YOU!!!!!
It is so so frustrating!!!!
It's like being at a restaurant and being served a bunch of delicious appetizers, but then one of the bread appetizers is literally just a plate of crumbs; and then when you're like, "Hey, uhh, why are we being served literal crumbs?", a bunch of the other folks eating at the restaurant are like,
"WELL HOW ABOUT YOU JUST DON'T EAT HERE THEN??!? YOU MUST NOT BE THAT HUNGRY, SO JUST FIND ANOTHER RESTAURANT AND DON'T EAT WITH US!!"
And maybe they say it politely, but "Aw, sorry, maybe this restaurant just isn't for you 💖" is just trading out an aggressive dismissive tone for a patronizing dismissive tone. It's the same message.
And it's like! I was honestly happy to move on from the crumbs once my complaint was acknowledged because the meal overall is still delicious, but then all these folks got SUPER WEIRD AND DEFENSIVE ABOUT IT, so now I find myself double-checking all the other dishes -- and, actually, you know what those eggs DO look a Iittle misogynistic undercooked!!!!
#original#queerbaiting#dunmeshi#dungeon meshi#falin x marcille#marcille x falin#marcille donato#delicious in dungeon#dungeon meshi marcille#listen i like marcille but u r right she is basically there to be a wet blanket a LOT of the time and that is a sexist trope#i think the bar is super super low for female characters in adventure anime and the lack of constant ogling maybe makes the female#characters feel better written than they are. i mean falin basically has no personality. she's got an innocent heart but that's nothing.#and i think these conversations are worth having bc no piece of media is perfect and this is how we learn to do better#also like. I've seen media criticisms that make me go 'oh you straight up should reserve commentary bc you#haven't watched the show and you're wrong' or 'i see what you're saying but you are simply incorrect' but like#i don't think I'd tell someone to just NOT watch Hazbin Hotel bc they have a bad take - and certainly not bc they have accurately#pinpointed a real flaw about the show (of which there are more than a few but frankly not what became the biggest subject of Disc Horse)#Angel is actually an amazing character & i think people mistook a criticism on the way abuse is glamourized as actually glamourizing abuse#like his song about abuse is called Poison and he's trapped in an abusive performance contract - bringing to mind Britney Spears#i think it is a wildly triggering and painful scene but i think a lot of people took the pain it gave them to mean it was bad art#but tbh they are still allowed to eat at the table if they so choose!!!#sorry i got sidetracked - as an abuse survivor Angel just matters a lot to me. i have a couple serious criticisms of vivziepop's work but#Angel is very much not one of them#also in regards to the actual subject of this post i think the most audacity of the responses i got was the one that said#that by complaining about queerbaiting I was 'de-incentivizing writers to write any interaction b/t women that could look even a little gay#and I'm just like. good. I hope they stop writing entirely. if the takeaway from 'please don't sell me bread and then serve me crumbs' is#'WELL NOW I JUST WON'T BAKE ANY BREAD PRODUCT' then that person is a bad chef. they should find a different job.#or at least do a whole lot of work on themselves. but either way i wouldn't be too broken up to know i won't be getting any food from them.#'just leave then' is so obviously a gut reaction defense mechanism & it implies media criticism should only be for things you don't like

venting in tags about gender n shit (long as hell) (u can comment and talk 2 me as always :3)
#okay so i got a really masc haircut about a month ago and i know it's just a haircut but holy shit has it changed EVERYTHING for me#like.... i've always leaned masc except 1) before i came out 2) when i was actively in love with someone who i knew liked femmes#and they always described me as a fem. because that's what i showed her. because i wanted to be with her.#but lowkey whenever i'm in a not-impressing-anyone raw-dogging-life-no-crush era i always resort to a very masc style#like masc being my default and i'd only lean fem to impress people whether it's for love or peer pressure in a specific setting#like ''dressing up'' has always been a form of drag to me. like something i HAD to do to fit in or impress my parents (scott favor core)#but ever since this haircut i've realized... i could just BE masc innately like i really don't have to be womanly if i don't want to#which i usually don't. again i have only ever dressed fem for other people. but it's not even being masc that attracts me on its own#it's like. being masc in a distinctly lesbian way. as in whenever i look in the mirror i don't wanna be like a Guy i wanna be a dyke.#like lesbian as a gender identity too sort of thing honestly. okay i've been waffling but basically i sort of want to call myself butch#but i don't know if i like... can?? if i'm allowed to???#everyone always says it's MORE than just wearing boy clothes and not wearing makeup and having short hair (which i already do all those)#i mean i've always id'd as genderqueer because it literally just means gender weird and i experience gender in a queer way#what's probably the most telling is that my friends (all queer) CALL me a butch lesbian#like every time they do i feel really internally validated. it's not just my clothes but my personality too ig is what people tell me#i have a higher pitched voice relatively speaking but apparently the way i talk is quote ''very clockably into women''#which?? gender euphoria asf. my best friend specifically he (gay trans guy) always uses butch to describe me very intuitively#people have also noticed that i ''transitioned'' in all aspects except hormonally. like ppl have commented and noticed my masculinzation#but at the same time i always feel rly haunted by my ex relationships because one wanted me to be more masc#(she's the one who came out as straight and would treat me like a man) which i didn't like and i didn't like playing up being fem either#bc now it feels like she (butch) won't believe me if i called myself butch too bc she remembers me being femme#idk i feel like there's her voice in my head all the time that sees everything i do through her eyes (i'm lowkey still in love)#i feel like even though this comes so naturally to me i must be putting on a performance#even though i've actually read stone butch blues and done research into the history and i truly love and id with the culture like i rly do#that im still just a sad imitation of a butch lesbian and can never really be a part of it because i used to enjoy dressing up sometimes#like it's so stupid but can i still be butch if i wore a dress to prom and i think i looked good in it??#even though i was envious of my friends who wore suits?? that i used to try goth makeup?? that i liked long dresses??#that i enjoyed stacked necklaces and rings on every finger???#and tbh ALL OF THAT CAME FROM A CONCIOUS EFFORT TO FEMINIZE MYSELF IN JUNIOR YEAR OF HIGHSCHOOL WHEN I WAS 16#because omfg it was 2 months before junior prom and i was worried that i was too masc and wanted to get comfortable with being fem

See here's the thing: if you can't bother to care about women, then perhaps you don't get to see me writing a story that isn't specifically focused on one or more of them.

i know it's my fault for interacting with western politics in the first place but it's such a massive and extremely annoying mistake on the west's part to keep assuming that eastern european misogyny works the same/is worse than western misogyny like. the culture of america and the west as a whole is way more extremist christian and their version of misogyny is very heavily built on the 50s housewife/"women are incapable of doing anything but raise babies" worldview and they just assume anyone perceived as "less developed" than them must then have an even worse case of misogyny automatically even though the culture of gender in the eastern bloc comes from the world wars & soviet union culture with the former bringing the necessity of working women (due to lack of male work force) and the latter just. inherently not being a misogynist culture like people straight up don't know that the soviet union was actively pro equality like being the first to legalise abortion in 1920 and always pushing for women in all fields including STEM and politics. like obviously there was still misogyny, it wasn't some sort of utopia/a haven of women's rights but the eastern bloc's misogyny is founded on THAT and not the same christian capitalist "man go work big job woman have 100000 babies" thing that the west and especially the US is built on, like this is from personal experience now but I've literally never heard a single negative comment about women in politics and our president is literally a woman without anyone melting down about it like americans did when a woman decided to run for president. so like. TLDR stop assuming bigotry has developed in the same way all over the world and that every country you think of as poorer than yours must then be inherently worse and more bigoted in every way

Kinda missing the Ice Queen/Tyrant King AU!
Maybe you can write something where Gilgamesh and Thena are in a business meeting with some powerfull people but they are disrespecting and insulting them both greatly (especially Thena) so Gil truly gets angry. You decide if he destroys something or hits someone. An anger never seen before wich even surprises Thena.
It started out reasonably within expectation.
Some old associates of Gil and his family were coming into town, looking to procure some American 'goods' for their business at home in Korea. The negotiations made sense to hold between the visiting associates and Thena and Gil collaboratively.
They had met in Gil's office, in Koreatown. Negotiations went smoothly and it seemed that everyone was on the same page about how business would be conducted going forward.
And then they got a little too 'friendly'.
Word had spread back in Korea about Gil and his sham of an engagement. The Little Heiress and her family had not taken it lightly, airing their disagreement with Gil's entire family all too openly. The family had their reputations to worry about and apparently Gil was being labelled as a failure and embarrassment to the family and its business.
And yet somehow what they had to say about Thena was even worse.
They seemed to be under the impression that she wouldn't understand what they were saying in Korean. And while she hadn't extrapolated every single word exchanged, she understood more than enough to hear them cracking jokes about her being a whore.
"That's enough," Gil advised them, and in English--in no mood to entertain their gossiping (shit talking).
"Come on, Hyung," they both snickered while Thena merely sat there. "The only one who's a bigger slut than you in this situation is her!"
Thena kept quiet.
"Yeah, you chose this one over the Heiress?" the other one barked in laughter. "Great tits, I guess, but a little bony, no?"
"You say one more word about her," Gil growled at them, his fists clenching audibly.
"The fucking better be good--and I mean 'better than daddy's money' good!"
Gil rose from his chair slowly, an expression on his face like nothing Thena had ever seen before. And she had seen him work--he had seen her work. But this... "You don't talk about my wife like that."
"Please," the other snorted, jabbing his thumb in the direction of Thena's chair, blessedly separate from the small couch the two men were sharing. "This bitch? I don't know what kind of spell she put on you with that puss-"
Thena blinked, her hair rustling from the speed with which Gil had crossed the distance from between his desk and landed a punch dead centre in the speaker's face. He toppled over the back of the couch and rolled on the rug a few times, already screaming about his shattered nose cartilage and the bone being scrunched into his skull.
She had heard the impact of bone on bone.
The other one looked at Thena, who was as cold as ice (obviously). He looked at Gil, holding up his hands. "Okay, okay, look, we took it too far. We-"
"Apologise."
Thena barely moved her eyes as the man knelt down in front of her, begging her pardon for his words.
"Beg," Gil commanded, pressing his shoe against the man's head, driving him closer to the floor.
"Please, Ice Queen," the stranger snivelled, truly and deeply afraid of the wrath of the Tyrant King. "I beg your forgiveness."
Thena looked up at Gil, who was visibly deciding whether or not to crush in the head of the man like a can of beer. She drew her lace up around her shoulders, utterly unfazed as his business partner continued to writhe in agony behind them. "It's up to Gilgamesh."
"Hyung," the man cried, his head still being held down by Gil's foot, "p-please, I'll never--I'll never speak badly of your wife again!"
"You're right," Gil acquiesced, stepping off his head and dragging him up to his knees by his hair to look him in the eye. "You'll never speak disrespectfully about her again. And just as a form of insurance-"
They all knew what was coming: the prepayment--the deposit, as it were.
Gil wound back for a full force swing, punching the guy so squarely in the throat he choked and gagged, his adam's apple seeming to completely crumble into his neck.
Thena looked over at the mess of a meeting, both men writhing in pain, unable to speak or perhaps even breathe. "They'll make a mess of your floor."
Gil swiped his swinging fist off with his pocket square and tossed the handkerchief down onto the head of the one struggling the most to breathe. "So I'll tell their escorts to take them to the hospital instead of the hotel."
Thena remained seated, watching with a mild expression as he paged his building reception to do just that, also muttering about a carpet cleaning service to come for blood and whatever other substances were expelled while the men were fighting for their lives.
Gil sighed, ending the call and leaning on his desk. He looked up at Thena.
She loosened her lace just faintly. "I don't know if I've ever seen you so angry. And I heard about the threat you made to Eros to send him across the pond again."
"Yeah, but you didn't see it," he chuckled, although his usual lightness hadn't quite returned to him yet. "And I think you and I both have every right to be mad about the things they said about you."
"Like what?" Thena asked facetiously, having understood a minimum of 90% of it.
"Nice try, Princess," Gil managed a smile, walking out from his desk again and going to her side. He leaned on the armrest of her singular chair (he was never going to let those slime balls sit close enough to be within arm's reach of her). "I know you know what they were saying."
She thought she had kept her learning Korean concealed from him. But there would be time to worry about what gave her away later; she smiled up at him coyly, "Gilgamesh, being a woman in any business requires becoming accustomed to being called a slut and a harlot and any variation thereupon. They said nothing I haven't heard before."
"Well I couldn't let them say it when I was here," he grumbled, tapping the side of her elbow where her lace was resting, only to slip his hand under it and up to her bare shoulder. "Sorry."
Thena gave him a raise of her brow, "I think you rather like it when I let you act all macho and territorial."
"Let me?" he snickered before leaning down to kiss her cheek, whispering with his lips all but pressed against her skin. "I am macho, and territorial."
Thena allowed the gentle affection, despite not being entirely alone for it. Or perhaps it was because the evidence was so abundant that this man was willing to do absolutely anything for her, and her honour. She lifted a hand, patting his cheek lightly, "a bit of a showoff, is what you are."
Gil pulled back and offered a small smirk, but it was a hint of his genuine smile, at least. "Well, did it work?"

I'm just sitting here mentally telling myself 'I don't have to like him just because I find him attractive, I don't have to like him just because he's hot, I don't have to like him just because I like the character' over and over until I start to believe it
#every single time I love a character I also start to love the actor. sometimes that sucks. I don't want to. I want to pretend he doesn't#exist#but he's got the same face and the same body and the same voice and I just. how do I not do this.#I don't like him. I don't want to like him. he's at the very least kinda gross about women. which I'm not okay with. so. just. ugggh#it's just that I look at him and my mind shuts off and it's like 😍🥰😍#rationally I know that's also fine. I'm allowed to like people who aren't perfect (and no one is perfect anyway)#buuut. it makes me feel disgusting.#idk. I guess I just. i dealt with this for so long when I was younger because like. most of the men I thought were hot were also#misogynistic. because the culture at the time was so much worse. and it was just accepted.#and I fucking hated it and I don't want to deal with that anymore#it's just. idk. it feels gross and bad and I don't like it#but. I do find him extremely attractive and I want him so so bad and I don't know what to do with that#ugh I need to just. not be attracted to people. it happens so rarely but when it does it only causes trouble.#or maybe I need to get over these weird morality standards that I have but I don't think that's possible? like how would that work? I don't#get it.#anyway. yes this is about Eliot/CK no I won't elaborate on that and also I hope he's actually a great guy and everything I've seen#that made me think otherwise is just wrong#I will still stare at his face and think about him and listen to his stupid gross music all day. and I will enjoy it. but I will also#feel conflicted about it 😔#(but damn it he is hot and his arms are big and I am just a human being and I am very very weak 😫 big arms make me fucking stupid)

With the way Russian women's figure skating is looking right now, if Russia is allowed back in international competition, I hope Liza decides to go for one more try at the Olympics. It's not a guarantee, but I genuinely feel like she has a shot at qualifying for the first time at the age of 29
#fourth time's the charm right#the minimum age is now 17 and eteri's camp is not looking as strong#if Liza can keep her triple axel she's easily competitive with the other skaters in Russia now#again no guarantees but she'd be in the game#I think whether or not Russia is allowed back into international competition next season is going to be a big factor#in her decision to retire or not#she cited it as one of the reasons she's not competing this season#and she wrote a couple paragraphs about how she knows it will be harder to come back from a year off#but she says she's healthy and confident she won't lose her triple axel and she'll be able to do it if she wants#and really after 16 seasons without a break it's smart to take that break now#better now when there's no real competition on the line#she also has Grand Prix spots if she wants them#which the other Russian women are not guaranteed because even kamila hasn't been to a senior worlds#and since Liza placed second at her last senior worlds and anyone who places top six before taking time off#can claim spots when they come back then she should have them#she wouldn't be in a bad place when Russia is allowed back in#so we'll see what happens with that#and even if she does choose to retire she's one of the few Russian women who had a full career in recent years#she outlasted a lot of competitors#but I really do hope she decides to go for it#or even one more Russian nationals for a big send off#she's currently tied for the most Russian nationals ever#one more and it's all hers
