National Girl Child Day
For centuries in India, daughters have been worshiped as forms of the goddess Laxmi, while ironically, it is sons who have been regarded as a guarantee for economic security- the source of wealth and prosperity for the family. They are considered the ideal inheritors of one’s accumulated capital. Sons are expected to take care of their aging parents, and carry forward family businesses. Meanwhile parents start preparing for their daughter's 'vidhai' from the moment she is born, concerned about paying dowries, and expecting to ship her off to another home where she will take care of someone else's family. Due to this, many families have not wanted to invest in the care and keeping of a girl child, leading to historically high rates of female infanticide in the Indian subcontinent. With the onset of modern technology, such as ultrasounds, there has also been an increase in female foeticide.
Gender screenings and sex-based abortions have led to unnatural selection through social factors as opposed to physical ones. Generations of these practices have led to an incredibly skewed sex ratio in the country- as per the 2011 census the figures stood at 943 women per 1000 men, reaching as low as 800 in some states. Although a law was put in place to prevent female infanticide in 1870, under British India, it didn’t do much to curtail the practice. An act prohibiting pre-natal sex determination was passed in 1994, which has criminalized this process and helped reduce it to some extent. This has led to the strange concept of reproductive tourism taking rise in India, as citizens travel to countries where sex screenings are not banned to determine what their future holds.
Similarly, the government has started a lot of schemes such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao to increase focus and divert funding towards female education. In the modern world, more and more women are leaving the house to work, a result of families that have prioritized their education. The dependency that families feared from their daughters is no longer as great a cause for concern in many families in urban spaces. However, for many rural or poorer families, a girl child is still considered a curse, as funding her marriage becomes a great source for stress. Alternatively, funding her education is not even considered a viable option as they do not expect to see the return on their investment.
Due to this, National Girl Child Day and other recognitions of women are vital in nations like India, to celebrate the achievements of women and show the citizens that they are just as capable as a man, well worth the time and effort it takes to raise them. Especially when women are born into a society that already presents them with a series of obstacles to achieve success based solely on their gender, celebrating and empowering them from birth is vital to their development and that of the nation.

What's the significance of education?
Education teaches children new chops which can help them in all aspects of their lives. By giving children an education, we're helping them to break free from poverty, lead a better life, and have further indifferent connections with others. Education can be an important tool in precluding child labor and child marriages. It can help children have better job options and be empowered to advocate for themselves and their communities. Beyond the existent, education can help break down poverty, health, and gender injuries in any community.
What are the root causes of children not entering an education?
There are several root causes of children not entering an education. They can vary across countries and regions and can have both social and profitable causes. Some of these include
– Lack of access to seminaries and other educational installations
still, they won't be suitable to admit an education, If children can not attend school. However, numerous children won't be suitable to attend the academy, If there are too many educational installations. This could be due to the distance of the academy from their home, the attainability of transportation to the academy, or the attainability of childcare for youngish children.
– Lack of coffers in the academy
preceptors may not have the accouterments and inventories they need, or the academy may not have books or other literacy accouterments for the scholars. This can vary from small effects similar as a limited quantum of paper for a large class, to larger issues, similar to a lack of computers or a need for new installations. also, a lack of backing makes it insolvable to pay preceptors ’ hires or maintain premises.
– Poverty
Poverty affects children’s capability to attend an academy by precluding families from being suitable to go the costs associated with education, similar to freight, uniforms, and inventories. It can also affect their capability to succeed in academia. In an area where food and sanctum aren’t promised, education can’t conceivably be prioritized.
– Demarcation
Children who belong to certain social groups can be laboriously discerned against, precluding them from entering an education. This can include demarcation grounded on gender, race, religion, or other factors.
Poverty and its impact on education
Poverty is a major root cause of children not entering an education. Children in poor families are less likely to attend academies and have lower access to quality education. Poor families may not be suitable to go to the costs of transferring their children to the academy. Depressed families may not be suitable to give the child care demanded aged children to attend an academy. similar seminaries also don't have the coffers that are demanded for children to learn, similar to books, computers, and accouterments for wisdom trials.
The role of government, communities, and organizations in providing access to education
The government has a part in making education accessible to all children. This includes icing that all children can admit a quality education at no cost. Other liabilities for governments include furnishing education to children who are in the country immorally and enforcing programs that promote the education of all children. Communities can also play a part in furnishing education to children. They can help to promote the significance of education in their community, including the value of transferring children to the academy and the significance of education for all children. Eventually, associations and groups can play an important part in furnishing education to children. This can include associations that give free education to children in developing countries and associations that give education to children in exile camps. At Auroveda, our nonprofit association’s thing has always been to give access to education so that we can help break the cycle of poverty.
