another re-read...honestly considering things, Kyoshiro deserves everything Yuya does to him.

re-read, feels a bit odd, but hopefully volume 2 will balance the world better.

I enjoyed this, the religious back and forth is interesting, the world was neat...then an event that was just...so very unnecessary happened at the end. I will try to read book 2...but I'm pretty annoyed.

Last of Karen Savages jane austen readings... sad to run out. But fun to listen too.

The Guyver will be released on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on May 21 via Unearthed Films. Also known as Mutronics, the 1991 sci-fi superhero film is based on the Japanese manga series of the same name by Yoshiki Takaya.

Special effects legends Steve Wang (Predator) and Screaming Mad George (Society) co-direct from a script by Jon Purdy. Mark Hamill, Vivian Wu, Jack Armstrong, Jimmie Walker, Michael Berryman, David Gale, and Jeffrey Combs star. Brian Yuzna (Re-Animator, Society) produces.

The Guyver has been newly restored in 4K from the original, R-rated 35mm camera negative with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 options. The 4K edition includes a soundtrack CD and a booklet. Special features are listed below.

"The Guyver" (in Europa und Südamerika unter dem Namen "Mutronics" veröffentlicht) ist ein Science-Fiction-Tokusatsu-Superheldenfilm aus dem Jahr 1991, der von Screaming Mad George und Steve Wang inszeniert und von Brian Yuzna produziert wurde. Locker basierend auf der gleichnamigen japanischen Manga-Serie von Yoshiki Takaya, wurde der Film in Zusammenarbeit mit Shochiku Films produziert. Die Hauptrollen spielen Mark Hamill, Vivian Wu, Jack Armstrong, Jimmie Walker und David Gale.

Bandai und Hero Communications baten Screaming Mad George aufgrund seiner Arbeit an "A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master", die Effekte für den Film zu erstellen. George stimmte unter der Bedingung zu, dass er Regie führen könne, und brachte Produzent Brian Yuzna sowie seinen Kollegen für Spezialeffekte und Co Regisseur, Steve Wang, mit.

Trotz der gemischten Kritiken weckte der Film ausreichend Interesse für eine Fortsetzung, "Guyver: Dark Hero". In dieser Fortsetzung wurde Jack Armstrong durch David Hayter in der Rolle von Sean ersetzt, und der Film erhielt insgesamt bessere Kritiken als sein Vorgänger.

Die Regie übernahm Steve Wang.

Die Regisseure-

Joji Tani , bekannt als Screaming Mad George, ist ein japanischer Spezialeffektkünstler, Filmregisseur und ehemaliger Musiker. Er wurde in Osaka, Japan, geboren und emigrierte in die Vereinigten Staaten, wo er für seine surrealen und blutrünstigen Spezialeffekte bekannt wurde.

George begann seine Karriere als Punk-Rock-Musiker und war Mitglied der Band The Mad in den späten 1970er Jahren. Seine blutrünstigen Musikvideos führten ihn in die Filmbranche, wo er an Spezialeffekten arbeitete. Zu seinen frühen Arbeiten gehören Effekte in Filmen wie "Big Trouble in Little China" (1986), "Predator" (1987), "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors" (1987), die berühmte Kakerlakenszene in "A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master" (1988) und "Arena" (1989).

1991 gab er sein Regiedebüt mit "The Guyver"

Es blieb seine einzige Regiearbeit. Er widmete sich wieder den Spezialeffekten und der Musik.

Steve Wang

Geboren in Taiwan, zog Steve mit seinen Eltern im Alter von neun Jahren in die Vereinigten Staaten. Seine größten Inspirationsquellen waren die Tokusatsu-Superhelden-TV-Shows Ultraman und Kamen Rider sowie Hongkong-Kung-Fu-Filme wie "Master of the Flying Guillotine".

Als erfahrener Maskenbildner und Kreaturen-Designer hat Steve mit anderen Branchenveteranen zusammengearbeitet, darunter Stan Winston, Rick Baker und Dick Smith.

"Guyver: Dark Hero"

verfolgt im Gegensatz zum vorherigen Film einen ernsteren und düstereren Ton, der dem Quellmaterial viel näher kommt (die Rückblende zur Erschaffung der Guyvers ist zum Beispiel fast wortwörtlich aus dem Original-Manga übernommen). Aufgrund des niedrigen Budgets wurde der Film in den Vereinigten Staaten direkt auf Video veröffentlicht, erhielt jedoch in anderen Ländern eine begrenzte Kinoveröffentlichung. Anders als der PG-13-Rating des ersten Films erhielt dieser Film eine R-Wertung aufgrund einiger Szenen, die Gewalt und Brutalität zeigen. Obwohl er keine Kinoveröffentlichung erhielt, entwickelte der Film eine Kult-Fangemeinde und wurde mit positiveren Kritiken als sein Vorgänger aufgenommen.

Den Meinungen der Kritiker kann ich mich insofern anschließen als das mir der zweite Teil viel besser gefallen hat.

Guyver- Dark Hero war tatsächlich auch der erste der beiden Filme den ich gesehen hatte und ich war begeistert. Der erste Teil war in Folge also bei mir schon eine herbe Enttäuschung da er meinen, durch den zweiten Teil, vorgefertigten Erwartungen nicht standhalten konnte.

Die Ähnlichkeit zu den Powerrangers kommt auch nicht von ungefähr denn Steve Wang arbeitete an der 1999 erschienenen Serie Power Rangers Lost Galaxy.

Beide Filme sind sehenswert der erste überzeugt alleine mit Mark Hamill und den Effekten der zweite mit den Kampfszenen und den Effekten

Die Power Rangers in Brutal... macht Spaß und errinnert an Jugendzeiten als man Nachts zufällig auf verbotene Filme traf und sie heimlich schaute....

You know, something I like about Takaya Yoshiki is his willingness to incorporate elements of Guyver's various adaptations into his work, even revising his own art in deference to the Guyver II design of the OVA series. I don't think I've seen it myself, but I've read he originally looked very much like our Guyver I. I think that kind of open-mindedness is a very good thing.
