Thank you! I was always kinda upset when I only found a fun tournament in the quarter finals, and so while I’m sure I don’t catch all tournaments (there must be non English ones for instance right?) I do this because I hope this helps a little, so it’s nice to hear that it actually does :)

i keep getting dragged into the snow white discourse and it's starting to irritate me. like idc if rachel zegler was scared/didn't like the 1937 adaptation as a child, but she needs to do her homework because the prince was not a stalker--and that's the tip of iceberg. but on the other hand, i don't particularly care that the prince isn't going to be in the remake either, and i get that snow white can "choose both" (i.e., being a leader and being in love), but i feel like everyone forgets other details of disney's snow white.

like, of course, snow white has a wicked stepmother who wants her dead because of the queen's jealousy and vanity against her stepdaughter. and while the huntsman advised her to run away, snow white ultimately made the choice to run into the forest. but then snow white realizes she needs to support herself, and she eventually finds friends and creates her own little community of support (i.e., the forest animals and the seven dwarfs)! and sure, i get where some people have issues with snow white cleaning and cooking for the dwarfs and see it as a gendered role, but cooking and cleaning are important skills for fostering independence. so, after saying all of this, i think a lot of people miss the themes of community, support, and independence. all of these themes, along with themes of vanity and jealousy, are still applicable today.

also lol i'm sorry but the prince discourse, again, is so funny to me. like he's only in the 1937 movie for about five minutes but he does have an established relationship and reciprocated feelings with snow white. and when he appears at the end of the movie, the prince wasn't expecting to wake snow white up with "love's first kiss"--he was there to say goodbye to her. he didn't know that "love's first kiss" was going to awaken snow white--only the audience did, which is dramatic irony, a common literary device. anyway the prince is fine but if andrew burnap's character takes over that role and provides something fresh, i'm willing to watch that.

TLDR: snow white discourse is wild. i think people forget or feign ignorance about the details in disney's original snow white film. and while it's totally fine to want to offer a new twist on the tale, don't completely disrespect the original work or completely dismiss ideas on why the original work is so popular in the first place.

Hi! I want to admit to share that I admire your blog and specifically the analysis of all seven books of the dissertation on Zutar and so on. I have read everything with pleasure and agree with every word. You have done a titanic job. It's good to know that I'm not the only one completely terrified of Maiko and Kataang. I like May and Aang separately, but not with Katara and Zuko, this is literally nonsense (incompatible personalities cannot build functional relationships, which ironically was confirmed in the so-called canonical continuation-completely stupid relationships in the family of Aang and Katara, the situation with May is also unclear, except for one thing-she could not to be close to such an emotional person and left him or he left her (history is silent, apparently it does not matter at all). It seemed that she was included in the final series by mistake (about her relevance in Uncle Iroh's tea room is a separate story). I still remember the bewilderment and disappointment from watching the last series, and after more than 10 years my opinion has not changed-Zutara had all the rights to exist, otherwise why all these hints (direct and indirect?). Why work out the mutual relations of Katara and Zuko, bringing them to such a personal level, because it was possible to do as with, for example, Toph or Suki? Do I need to repeat that the chemistry between them surpasses all the declared romantic couples, looks mature and viable? I don't know who to thank for this outrage, but this is a real spit in the soul of fans (especially when I recently learned that the 17th series was created solely for the purpose of trolling fans), as well as the humiliation of my own work. Thank you for the essay, it means a lot to me (I think there are a lot of us))) grow up for my English, it's not my native language.

i couldn't agree more with everything you said. the show almost went out of its way to prove over nearly three seasons that mai and aang were incompatible with zuko and katara, and then suddenly expected us to jump on the mai.ko and kat.aang train in the last ten minutes? especially when zutara were right there and had everything - intimacy, compatibility, understanding, chemistry, narrative and thematic importance - going for them?? like be so fucking for real lmao, we all know zutara should have been canon.

i totally understand your bitterness (i will be bitter to my dying day) but if it helps, just know that the wonderful zutara community here on tumblr treats zutara so much better than bryke could have ever dreamed of. we don't need to bother with canon when fanon gives us everything we could ever need and more.

hey!! admittedly it was kinda bitchy lol but basically i feel very strongly that there should be more concrete and better understood boundaries drawn between fandom and reality in order to protect athletes/teams and fans, especially when both sides are regularly overstepping and receiving 0 pushback. instead of helping to establish boundaries, actively recruiting from within fan spaces further undermines them by incentivising that behaviour and legitimising some questionable forms of content when they're uncritically (re)produced by teams in pursuit of engagement. i initially wrote a MUCH longer answer to this and i'm happy to explain/discuss further if you're interested but that's basically it 👼

Sorry for bothering with an ask, I didn't know If you would be okay with me answering your message publicly - but I wanted to truly thank you back for posting "love, as if it were carved in stone"! it has easily become one of my favorite Geto fics ... I literally had to pause a few times while reading because i was just so in awe lmao. I didn't want to ramble in the tags but there were so many moments that stuck with me .. I loved the atmosphere of their meeting .. Geto reflecting on reader's innocent appearance and reader tugging down on their skirt when they notice him ... Not to mention this passage: "how could you crave such a thing - attention, from a stranger, nonetheless. how could you be so vulgar, yearning for someone’s affection and admitting to being starved.", and then the one about Suguru feeling like a boy again! I could go on for so long .. It's such an amazing piece of writing, I'm definitely looking forward to rereading it. I am in love with the way you built the story/curated the details, and your style has such a beautiful pace too!

The worst thing about my brain being an autopilot grammar nazi is that every single time I see people misuse “it’s” and “its” as well as apostrophe placements is that I don’t want to be rude and correct people... but my brain still is like UGH THIS IS THE WORST.

“It’s” and “Its” are more just my brain going weeo weeo on me when that’s a more understandable one bc “its” is literally the exception to a rule (because “it’s” actually means “it is”, so to avoid it being used for two meanings the apostrophe is removed for ownership cases), but when I see apostrophes before an S for plural wording and I know they speak English properly I’m just like. ugh. damn. bruh. please. go back to school.

Less severe cases of incorrect apostrophe use tends to be like, when people are playing Heroes and have duplicates of units and are like “my Ike’s” instead of “my Ikes”, because I think people are trying to... make it more clear that it’s referring to more than one? I think? Maybe? Or they literally just don’t realize it’s incorrect grammar, idk lol. Still can’t get past my weeo weeo autopilot brain though sadly.

She’s not armoured, but it’s her pistol. Why is she so certain he’s not a threat, even as she’s holding a weapon at him? She doesn’t know him. Yet her intuition is something she usually trusts. His body language tells her he’s no civilian  ⸺  he’s looking at her rather than the gun, not showing any immediate signs of fear despite the setting. If anything, he appears rather similar to how she would behave, in his shoes. Telling her to take a deep breath  ⸺  defusing the situation. It’s an odd comfort in a distressing situation, to be on this side of reassurance. She’s used to being the one to give the orders, yet she finds herself doing as he says, inhaling deeply, urging her body to calm down.

❝ Do you know where we are? ❞    she asks, instead. She lowers the gun, lets it hang against her thigh, not keen on giving it up, but afraid of... it’s difficult to accept, that she’s just now not been in control of herself. It’s something she’s actively feared, ever since Cerberus brought her back, that they’d somehow... be able to control her. Only she knows that’s illogical, but what else...? She’s wearing a casual set of t-shirt and jeans, and her dog tags under her shirt give her comfort in their familiar weight. Still, the outfit doesn’t give her much to work with. Could have been on the Normandy, before... wherever she is, now. Could also have been on shore leave. She doesn’t remember.
