Dating Yuri plisetsky includes;

when you first start dating, he gets shy and flustered whenever you hold his hand or hug him.

he’s super cuddly

skating dates all the time, he loves to just skate while holding you.

his love language is gift giving, whenever he’s out and sees something that reminds him you you he’ll buy it in a heartbeat.

when he’s away for competitions he’ll FaceTime you whenever he can to tell you how much he misses you (and complain about the other skaters).

silly silly question to feed my crossover brainrot: if On Thin Ice!Aziraphale and Crowley existed in the Yuri On Ice universe, who would they be friends with? Who would be their favorite skaters? And above all, how would they both react to the Viktuuri kiss?

oh my gosh. okay i can definitely see aziraphale being very easy friends with yuuri!! especially if i stick to how beloved aziraphale is in japan, it's a no-brainer. i think they're quite a bit alike, and they'd fawn over victor together hahaha. i think he'd be friends with phichit too! aziraphale's favorite skaters would be his friends of course.

i get a lot of comments on how crowley is yuri plisetsky coded, which i can agree with to a degree! though i have hard time imagining crowley being friends with him, or anyone except for maybe otabek, or even mila (she seems feisty). but i could also easily see him developing a rivalry with victor (like frenemies maybe? lol) crowley would look up to victor but keep that to himself.

as for the kiss, they'd be happy of course! especially aziraphale, being the romantic that he his, and crowley wouldn't show it outwardly but deep down he'd be glad someone out here is finally gay kissing in front of the judges ASJHDSASD

1. Do you think that as Yuri (Plisetsky) ages that would affect his skills, and also how?

2. Do you think that Viktor will go back to skating? Do you think he'll try to reclaim his world records?

3. And if he does get back, do you think that will affect his relationship with Yuuri?

1. I like imagining Yura getting one last good season before he grows faster than he can keep up with.

I think Yura gets very impatient with himself. It's one thing to have a skill and try to perfect it with practice, but it's another thing to have to relearn something you already knew how to do because your body changed and the balance is different and the same muscle memory you worked so hard to develop is failing you. This could feel different.

So he has a slump, but he gets back from it stronger. Yakov doesn't give up on him, he knows he can stay a great skater. He trained Viktor and Georgi and they're both doing great at 27 years old. He can pull Yura through this.

And Yura has examples of skaters coming back from this. He felt like he had a deadline before his body changes, but in the end, it was temporary and he'll do just fine.

Sidenote, I love imagining Yura getting as tall as Viktor - and then stopping. Which annoys him so much, even though he isn't a kid anymore and he knows at this point that he's being ridiculous. Taller shoes and hairstyles, just to make himself look a bit taller than Viktor. Everyone who knows him knows what he's doing. Viktor and Mila think it's hilarious.

2. About Viktor getting back into skating, I can go either way.

On the one hand, he was burned out, he's finally happy, he sees a future for himself where he isn't lonely on the pedestal, he didn't seem happy to go back to it, he looked like he was doing it for Yuuri, he's going to coach at the same time, there's so much there...

But for why Viktor might want to get back to skating. I think his last season was a plea not to be left alone, and he might want to tell a better and more hopeful story before he fully retires.

If I write something post-canon, I'm giving him gold in his national competitions (puts Yura in his place, just once. "Viktor Nikiforov is dead" AND VIKTOR KATSUKI-NIKIFOROV IS BETTER).

When I'm putting him against both Yuuri and Yura, though, the podium looks like. Gold for Yuuri. And Viktor and Yura can get either silver or bronze depending on my mood. Yuuri's gold is consistent, though. HE WAS ROBBED. Give Yuuri gold!!!

Viktor reclaiming his records only for Yuuri to break them again is a favorite of mine so there's a bias here too.

So the future I imagine depends on which feelings I want to explore. Sometimes I'll have Viktor feeling like he's going back to a place that hurt him because he wants to make Yuuri happy and give him the competition he always imagined, and sometimes he's eager to tell the story of the happiness he found.

3. I think if he goes back it absolutely affects his relationship with Yuuri.

If he doesn't really want to go back and he's doing it for Yuuri, O often have it so Yuuri realizes he's asking too much and finding a way to make it better. Either by asking Yakov to coach him so Viktor can focus on skating, or by trying to tell Viktor he doesn't need to do this for him. In either case, Viktor isn't happy. I don't think he likes to give up on things. These skaters are ambitious and stubborn, I think it's kind of necessary to be where they are. But he needs to balance things. Maybe even drop the idea of competing again. Depends on the story.

But the more fun option is if Viktor fully wants to do this. And it still won't be easy. Any non-skating aspect of their relationship will be put aside for a while, they'll have so much to work through. And I love that kind of hard work.

Also, this isn't entirely related, but I thought about this. They'll move to Russia which means not having Yuuri's family and support system. The way I see Viktor, he kept everyone at arm's length until Yuuri. His relationship with Chris was shallow, I see it in Chris's inner dialogue about him. With Yura, he trained with him for years, but it's only in Hasetsu that it feels like they truly made a connection.

He's always watching people, he cares about what they need and how they feel even when he's failing at recognizing things, but he's keeping himself at a distance. Until Yuuri, who basically opened him a door to human connection and gave him the path to bonding with more people. That's how I read him.

So now he has Yuuri with him in Russia. And his rinkmates are going to love him.

And Viktor will have to put his new way of connecting with people into practice in a place where he's known the way he was.

It's easier to act differently where people don't know you. They don't have expectations, so they aren't going to look at you weird when you defy them. Here people know him. It'll be tempting to just... slide back into old habits. But Yuuri is there. He's telling the story of being with Yuuri. He has to hold on to everything he got from the time in Hasetsu and bring it here.

I think this will influence them a lot too. Yuuri asked him to just be himself, and Viktor takes him back to the world that taught him he shouldn't. And he's going to have to make that jump, change how he acts, and see it's not that bad.

Also, Yuuri will get to see new and different kinds of support. Viktor taught him to recognize it, since before he says it felt vague. Now he really feels he can rely on people.

I wanted to say more about Yuuri but it's getting late and I'm going to get sleepy soon jfsjgsjsg

Oh my gosh this is impossible, I like too much and I'm the most indecisive motherfucker. I actually agonized over this, like this is so broad I was trying to think of everything I've ever liked, and what do you mean by favorite, and do I like the story because of the characters or the narrative, and how much do I like them now vs. how much I used to like them. I was doing way too much.

Basically, this is a list (loosely ordered) of my favorite characters (probably) right NOW, either based in recency bias, or in their lasting ability to remain a favorite years later A.K.A. characters that altered my brain chemistry because I'm insane about them:

Yuri Plisetsky - Yuri!!! On Ice

Yuri Plisetsky is my favorite of all time. If the rest of the list isn't quite in order, he's still at the top every time. There are some characters that just click for you and he's one of them. You're gonna start seeing a pattern here with some of these characters so it might just be that I have a type, but either way I love him like he's me. I love to put him in situations. I love to explore his character. I love to imagine his future. And I love his lil face. He's just so determined, and so angry, and I adore him and all his flaws.

2. Otabek Altin - Yuri!!! On Ice

Now listen, he's not a major character, he doesn't have a lot of screen time, but he made a huge, huge impact. It's not a coincidence that I love Yuri P so much, Otabek is so high because of Yuri P. But ultimately, he's one of my all time favorites because of a version of him that exists in fanfiction and fanon. Specifically, I love Otabek because of "From Almaty, With Love", my favorite fic of all time. I love to inhabit his mind, but also I just love him. He's the type of guy who's nothing like me, but I wish I was more like him. Also, I'm just a sucker for the strong and silent type.

3. Megumi Fushiguro - Jujutsu Kaisen

Current biggest projection target. Oh my god how this lil guy has taken over my mind. I watched JJK for the first time in December, but I don't think I really got insane about Megumi until I read the manga and... just check out my tag #megumi fushiguro's gay little hands. He's just so compelling to me. I just love a grumpy teen. I love a troubled little guy. I love how out of touch with his emotions he is. I love that he's insane. I want to put him in every possible situation and see what he does. He's my favorite, I don't know what to say.

4. Ahsoka Tano - Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Ahsoka!!! I love her so much!!!!! It's been a while since I watched The Clone Wars, and I'm off the Star Wars hundred million franchise properties train right now, so I haven't watched the new show, and I probably won't because I like her just the way she is in Clone Wars and I don't need any more. She's the coolest girl, she pulls like crazy, she's some variety of lesbian, she's a skilled fighter, she has a great personality, and she's a brown girl for brown girls. Like, little boys get cool characters they can latch onto all the time, she's that for me. Love her forever.

5. Zuko - Avatar: The Last Airbender

Ahhhhh, Zuko. I'm gonna try to be normal about him. Best redemption arc ever written in any media ever. He's just so lovable. You get to know him even a little bit early on in the series (The Storm) and it's just...OH. You start to understand. And it just grows and grows from there. He's a sympathetic character (The Blue Spirit), but you don't pity him because you're with him every step of the way as he has to grow and fight through all the pain and conflict inside him (Bitter Work, The Avatar and The Firelord). And he makes the worst mistakes. He makes the wrong choices (Crossroads of Destiny). And he has to earn every little bit of his redemption. And he does. What an incredible character. One of the most iconic voices of all time (Dante Basco, I love you). Also, I just love him. "Hey, Zuko here!" He will always have my heart.

6. Yuuri Katsuki - Yuri!!! On Ice

It is actually impossible for me to pick only two pictures of Yuri Katsuki because he's just so precious in every single one in completely different ways. I wasn't sure at first if I was going to put him on this list because Yuri P dominates my thoughts around YOI so much. But I don't love Yuri On Ice because of Yuri P. When I'm actually in a rewatch, Yuri Katsuki reminds me how much I love and adore him and how much he really means to me. Discovering Yuri, and everything he doesn't show you through his unreliable narrator ass as the show goes on is so so special. And nothing in that show could make me fall in love with figure skating the way "Yuri on Ice" and "On Love: Eros" did. My 2017 Spotify Wrapped was 90% YOI music because I used to fall asleep to "Yuri on Ice" on repeat. I love him so much. He means so much to me. That's all I can say.

7. Rue Bennett - Euphoria

She is me. I am her. This is less about her character, and more about how she allows me to see myself and be seen. My weakest parts. My most painful parts. The worst experiences of my life. I don't think I've ever related to a character or what they have gone through more than I have with Rue. I don't think I've ever related to a character's flaws and worst moments more than I have with Rue. Say what you will about Euphoria, I don't care. It's so important to me because of Rue. At least....Season 1 is.

8. Effy Stonem - Skins (UK)

Are we starting to see the patterns here? Effy Stonem is THE original indie sleaze girl. I wanted to be her sooooo bad. I wanted to be her in Gen 1 (I loved Effy Stonem before Gen 2, I'm not like other girls. lmao, anyway...) Skins was a very formative piece of media for me. There is no world where I love Euphoria without having loved Skins first. Skins and Effy made me want to go to raves in Bristol, wear ripped tights, take MDMA, smoke spliffs and cigarettes 24/7... it was actually such a bad influence, but it means a lot to me. I loved Effy from her first appearance on screen, and I loved her until her last. Kaya Scodelario you will always be famous.

9. Ash Lynx - Banana Fish

Ash Lynx is one of the most complicated and compelling characters I have ever seen. I had a hard time deciding to include him because I don't feel like you can divorce Ash the character from Banana Fish the story, or from Eiji and their relationship. Do I love him as his own character, or do I love Banana Fish in its entirety? But I do love him. He's very special to me. Banana Fish is about him. It's a love letter to him, in a way. You can't love Banana Fish without loving Ash, everyone around Ash loves Ash, even the horrible people who want to claim him. His pain and trauma is so overwhelming, but you as the audience can see the person he is through all of that even if he can't, and you just want him to find happiness and see it for himself someday. And be safe for the first time in his life. A tragic hero who really shouldn't have been in a tragedy. An unfair tragedy. He deserves the world.

10. Kyo Sohma - Fruits Basket

At this point you have to be seeing the pattern. I love a well-written grumpy boy. And I love Kyo Sohma so, so much. I watched 2001 right before 2019 and let me tell you, the vidication... I was absolutely in love with 2001 Kyo, but I didn't want to get my hopes up. He was my little shojo crush, it was fine if he wasn't Tohru's. Then I popped on 2019, and he had the SAME VOICE ACTOR!?!?!? Bro, the way I melted. And then the show went on and I noticed he was being framed a little different than he was in 2001???? I mean, if you want my whole watch through check my #fruits basket 2019 tag. I had a whole journey. Let's be so honest, Kyo is on here because I'm in love with him. But also, he's an amazing character with so much deep turmoil from really really difficult circumstances, and he still manages to be caring and attentive and kind, along with a million other amazing character traits. Most character of all time. I love him so much.

BONUS (Characters I can't believe didn't make this list):

The Entire Skins Gen 1 Main Cast (who I love more than Effy, but I can't pick just one favorite), Suguru Geto (who's creeping up on me more and more as I dive deeper into his character), Eiji Okumura (the other half of AshEiji, and just the sweetest boy alive who's also the biggest ride-or-die I love him), and Victor Nikiforov (out of the YOI cast, he's my least most favorite, but I love him so much and his lil heart mouth. He's a star, he is the moment, give him his flowers).

“If you kiss me, will it be just like I dreamed it?”

Synopsis: You and Yuri have been dating for a while, while you love physical affection…he seems to be a little hesitant. This refrained you from kissing him, but he decides to change that.

“Hey Yuri, would you wanna go out tonight?” I ask as I wipe the snow off my blade, a smile plastered on my face.

“Sure, I’ll have to check with Lilia though, you know how much of a bitch she can be” He scoffs as he unties his laces.

“Awe cmon you know it’s just cause she cares!” I say as I ruffles his hair lightly.

His faces blushes a sweet shade of pink.

“Yea I guess..” He says, averting my gaze.

I let out a slight laugh.

Yuri had never been too big on physical affection. He always gets incredibly embarrassed at the smallest things, like if I hold his hand or move a piece of hair out of his face.

However, this has stopped me from doing anything more than just hand holding, specifically kissing. I’ve always wanted to kiss him, but judging by the way he gets embarrassed, and the numerous amounts of time he’s told me about his dislike for physical affection, I’ve refrained from doing so.

“Where would you wanna go? I think there’s a new Italian place nearby, but I’ll have to check” I add as I throw my skates into my bag.

“Sure, sounds nice” he replies, a faint blush still lingering on his cheeks.

“Wear something cute ok?~” I wink as I get up to leave.

“Yea yea…” he says, looking away with a much redder blush than before.

“Love you, bye!” I add as I start on my way out the door.

“Love you too..” he grumbles, trying hard to fight off a smile.

I walk down the surprisingly warm streets of St. Petersburg. Spring was setting in, and days were getting longer, the perfect date night setting might I add.

I push open the door to my house and walk up to my bedroom.

I tiredly plop down on my bed and change out of my sweaty practice clothes.

After throwing on a comfortable pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt, I looked in my closet for something nice.

Even if he wasn’t able to go out tonight, I still wanted to be prepared.

I decided on a white and blue floral dress to match the spring aesthetic, along with a cute pair of white heels. As I lay the outfit out on my bed I get a notification from my phone.

I quickly pull it out of my pocket, and see a text from Yuri.

“Hey, Lilia’s ok with me going out, what time were you thinking?” It read.

“Maybe 5:00?” I replied.

“See you then” he responds.

I shut off my phone and smile to myself excitedly.

Before it know it, it’s 4:00.

I hop into the shower and quickly wash my hair before stepping into the dress I picked out earlier. I carefully applied my makeup and curled my hair before placing on my heels and walking out the door.

“Bye mom, I love you!” I yell as I step outside.

The walk to the restaurant was a short one, only a bit further than the ice rink.

The time was 5:01, and as I approached the restaurant I saw Yuri standing outside in a white button down, and black dress pants.

“Well don’t you look gorgeous!” I say, greeting him.

He smiles slightly.

“Could say the same for you” he says blushing, a slight nervous tone in his voice.

We step inside and are greeted by the hostess.

“Table for two please” I say with a smile.

She brings us to a table in the corner of the restaurant, next to a big window.

“Did you have to convince Lilia to let you come?” I ask as I sit down.

“Only a little, but I promised to do extra conditioning tomorrow so she let me go” he replies.

“She’s really that strict with you?” I laugh.

“Yea, she acts like she’s my mom” he rolls his eyes.

The waiter comes over and we order our drinks, I got soda, he got apple juice.

“Apple juice, how classy” I chuckle.

“And soda’s more appropriate?” He laughs.

“Touché” I smile.

There’s a beat of silence before Yuri speaks.

“You know, you look very…nice tonight” he says averting my gaze.

“Awe, thanks. You look exceptionally handsome tonight yourself” I smile, slightly shocked.

It wasn’t often Yuri gave sweet compliments like that, but when he does, he means it.

“Thanks..” he smiles, the familiar blush plastered on his face.

“You don’t usually say stuff like that, what’s up?” I ask with a smile.

“I-I don’t know…I guess I’m just happy to be with you…that’s all” he says genuinely.

I smile and brush a stray piece of hair behind his ear.

“I’m happy to be with you too Yuri~” I smile, still leaning forward.

There was a comforting silence, one where we could just look into each others eyes and understand what the other was saying without any words.

I felt his hand move hesitantly on the table, and then up to my face.

Before I knew it, he had pulled me in and kissed me.

I was caught off guard, but when I realized what was happening, I happily returned the action.

It was sweet and warm, and god I didn’t want it to end.

When he pulled away, I looked at him.

His eyes were wide, cheeks a fiery shade of red, and a lovesick look all over his face.

“Thank you..” I smile gently.

“No problem…” he replies with a slight smile.

And even though Yuri doesn’t show his emotions up front, you could tell he was happy.

Hoo boy, I have thoughts about Yurio. Don't worry, all lovable ones about our favorite angry kitten. Be warned, it's long. And it's under the cut.

Yurio's Changing Understanding of Love and Weakness

Yuri Plisetsky says something to Otabek that I really think defines him and his arc. Not only for Otabek's on-point observation: "Yuri Plisetsky had the unforgettable eyes of a soldier.", but also for how Yurio replied.

"I was desperate. I'd decided that I wouldn't complain until I was good enough."

Yuri P.'s attitude really demonstrates how he feels about weakness. In particular, when we first meet him, he sees emotional vulnerability as weakness. His soldier eyes? His determination not to complain until he deserved to? That came likely from the skating and competing combine he's been in since he was very young.

It speaks a lot that Yurio finds his unconditional love in his grandfather, who came to his practices. The practices his mother did not come to, the ones that Yurio said he didn't need her to come to, even as he promised he would get better and better.

That is where we first meet him. Sitting and listening to Yuuri Katsuki, who he watched fall apart on the ice, cry big fat tears while hiding in the bathroom. Yuri got mad, because that is not what a skater does. Skaters fight and they are stoic and they don't complain until they're good enough. Yuuri Katsuki was violating all those rules, even as he had fantastic musicality.

And Yuri is 15 years old. His closest family lives in Moscow. All he does is train, and because he trains like an adult, no juniors were able to rival him.

How would a 15yo who thinks crying and being vulnerable was a disgrace and a sign of weakness vent his emotions?

Through anger.

Yurio yells because that's a way he is "allowed" to emote. And he's young and he's smol, so people just sort of accept that attitude from him (Yakov ain't helping either, given we see Yakov's outbursts too.)

So, he goes to Hasetsu because Victor promised to choreograph for him if he proved himself (and he did), and he sees the "weak" crybaby there, the one who Victor chased, the one who disappeared until he reappeared and skated Victor's program.

Yurio probably was very confused. He was used to a dog-eat-dog world, and Hasetsu just wasn't like that. Mari nicknamed him Yurio affectionately, not mockingly. Yuuko genuinely supported him and valued him. Yuuri asked him, without ego, to help him land the quad Salchow.

Then Yurio watched as Yuuri Katsuki the weak wiped the floor with him in the skates. He hated it, because to him losing meant being weak, and it had probably been a long time (ever?) since Yurio had lost.

It's why Yurio followed Yuuri (and only Yuuri) so closely. Because somewhere inside he was angry about losing, because losing was weakness, but somewhere in there too, Yuuri Katsuki and Hasetsu were Yurio's first real exposure to genuine friends (and a rival who was a friend in Yuuri). In the flashback as Lilia talks about Yurio's program, we see the Hasetsu crew as part of the discussion of Yurio finding the type of love that sustains him.

And throughout the series, we see Yurio start to question his own definition of weakness. Was weakness crying after losing? (We can imagine he might have found out about Vicchan while in Hasetsu). Was flubbing a jump weakness? Was letting your coach fly back to Hasetsu to be with his ailing dog and leaving you maybe to fall apart and not medal weakness?

It wasn't. Yurio didn't think it was anymore either. Yuuri Katsuki was not weak, and Yurio recognized that. Yuuri was as much as soldier as Yurio, but expressed in very different ways.

That was... until... Yuuri Katsuki almost showed himself yet again to be weak.

So Yuuri taking the weak way out and retiring rekindled that fire. And Yurio expressed himself, expressed his desire to keep skating against Yuuri, by throwing everything he had on the ice and then some.

Yuri Plisetsky skated for gold in the GPF as much for Yuuri Katsuki to stay as he did to win.

And that was what Victor meant when he spoke of Yuuri helping not only Victor to find his L-words.

2) I'm trying to find a fic I read ages ago on AO3. Please help, I'm starting to think I fully imagined it but I'm not that creative. It's yuri/otabek. Yuri is trans masc but not out, Otabek is gay but not out. Their parents set them up in hopes of a "traditional marriage". While scrambling to turn eachother down, they realize this is a perfect out. They get "married", move to the US (from russia), Yuri is able to finally live as a man. After a while they get together for real. Etc Etc happy ending and whatever. Do you have any ideas? I can't find it to save my life?

orpheus is running a winter karaoke tent! as long as the song is festive or holiday-ish or winter-ish in nature, the lyrics will be loaded up on the karaoke machine. open for soloists, duets, small groups, whatever! if your character wants to show off their vocal skills, or just enjoy the festive music, drop by. if orpheus catches your character making fun of the singers, though, he’ll be sad and disappointed.

he may not celebrate these holidays but he really enjoys the warm atmosphere of people coming together to celebrate festivities like this. he’ll be bundled up by the bonfires or oo-ing and aa-ing over the creativity of the snowmen others have built. he might try building a gingerbread house, and after some bartering, he’ll probably be wrapped in a collection of 2-5 handmade scarves from the crafts stalls by the end of the week. **he will also be getting tipsy for the first time in his life, accidentally, due to poorly labelled mulled wine

if you see a man dressed in all black seemingly consuming every edible item offered at the market within a one-mile radius, that’s he xuan.

she wants to try everything, the ice skating, the snowboarding, whatever. she wants to crush the competition at the snowball fight. she will run your character’s sled over with her own, or possibly toss it in the street. she’ll be the fastest person in the polar plunge, even though that is not necessarily a competitive situation lol. she will (unfortunately) be documenting it all on tiktok, and she will also be hanging out around the ice bar. 

and then i have a small collection of characters who will NOT enjoy the market, either because they have zero percent festive cheer (most of them don’t celebrate christmas or the january 1 new year anyway) or because they are too stressed to properly enjoy a market like this, or some combination of the two: loid forger, liu qingge, dongfang qingcang, & chu wanning! but they’re still open for starters if you’re interested lol.  -- starters for: yor forger & loid forger (tragcdysewn), ???
