The i-SMART intelligent system enables customers to connect with their car thus enhancing their overall driving experience. They will be able to monitor their car much more easily, activate any features they wish, and smoothly connect to their lifestyle choices.

Customers of the "Advanced Gloster" will be able to utilise the app as an in-car remote for the audio, air conditioning, and mood light in addition to the current i-SMART functions. Electric cars are the world's future, and every Indian car manufacturing company is introducing their vehicles in the market. Although India is still trying to grow its EV infrastructure, customers have already accepted EVs over their ICE cars. Keeping this in mind, here is a list of some of the upcoming electric cars in India 2022 that will be seen on roads very soon. 

Volvo XC40 Recharge - This is an electric SUV that will be launched in the first quarter of this year itself. It is a completely built car and one of first EV cars in India 2022 with all-electric features. It will offer a battery pack of 78 kWh, which is sufficient to power its dual electric motors and deliver an output of 660 Nm and 402bhp of torque. 

It comes with a grille finish on its body, sporting the company's logo. A few notable car features are LED headlamps, LED taillights and a dual-tone paint job. Estimates state that it will be priced between 50 to 55 lakhs in India. 

Tata Altroz EV - This new contrivance of Tata is expected to launch in India by June 2022. It comes with the same battery pack used in the Tata Nexon EV but with a different driving range (300 km) and power output. The estimated price for this EV is between 12 to 15 lakhs INR. 

This version is expected to come with a new air dam, fresh grille, and a redesigned teal blue colour with electric accents. It will offer a seating capacity of five passengers. 

Tata Tiago EV - Tata had first introduced this car at the 2018 Auto Expo event and originally offered it exclusively for the government. With its brilliant electric setup and a strong battery, this car looks the same as its regular fuel-using model except for the blue accents on its exteriors. 

Tiago EV is powered by a 30kW electric motor and holds a battery pack of 216Ah. The estimated market value of this car is between 5 to 7 lakhs INR. It is one of the most awaited small electric cars in India.

Hyundai Kona EV - The all-new Hyundai Kona electric car will be launched soon in India with a mid-life facelift in 2022. The recent updates made to Kona are on its exteriors. The grille has been completely removed, giving the car a much smoother and slimmer look. The company had re-profiled the headlamps making them sleeker and sharper. 

It also comes with new alloy wheels and with a 39.2kWh battery along with a 136hp electric motor. The rival for Kona is the MG ZS EV, which comes in a similar price range.

Background - The turn around story of the SLEEPING GIANT

Under the leadership of CEO John Chen, BlackBerry has spent the past 8 years pivoting from hardware smartphones to the future: (1) IoT Internet of Things (2) Automotive/EV and (3) Cyber Security.

All three of these areas are growth opportunities and BlackBerry has strategically partnered with many large tech companies including: Amazon, Microsoft and Qualcomm.

The market value of Blackberry is criminally undervalued at ~$7 Billion compared to their competitors such as $CRWD at $53 Billion, $PANW at $54 Billion and $ZS at 48 $Billion to name a few.

The transformation of the business can be summarized in the slide below. Mickensy Consulting has estimated that the pool of reoccurring revenue from the IoT and connected car will grow exponentially over the next 10 years, which is good for BlackBerry's new business model.

Patent Sale Announcement

There is been lots of speculation and rumors over the past few month from various sources, ranging from Facebook $FB being the sole purchaser for cash up from and/or a partnership deal, to a group of parties. The range of the deal is said to be worth $1 Billion to $2 Billion.

On the last conference call, CEO John Chen said that there is about an "80% probability that the deal closes by Q4". This date is November 2021, which is next week. However, they could also be waiting to release it during their next earnings call on December 21st, 2021.

QNX, Amazon IVY and the IoT (Internet of Things) and the connected car ecosystem

QNX real-time OS is installed in 195M cars today, out of 1.4B cars in total on the road worldwide. QNX enables many different software pieces to run in a car, so acts as a kind of central control unit. QNX is becoming the predominant OS for connected cars, since it´s installed in so many cars. Whilst today $BB licenses QNX to OEMs on a per-unit royalty basis, QNX is effectively set up (through Blackberry Ivy, in partnership with $AMZN) to be the foundation of the data value chain for the auto industry, which McKinsey estimates will be quite big, specially for a company ($BB) with a market cap of 5B$ today. I think this will extend to other verticals over the next decade.

CES 2022 BB will be demonstrating both cyber and IoT with key partners

BlackBerry has started testing their BETA version of IVY with Amazon this fall and are looking to showcase more features and capabilities with key partners at the CES in early 2022.

Institutions are loading up.

Over the past months, big institutions have been increasing their position. Today for example, Morgan Stanley's 13F filing showed that they alone increased their $BB holdings by +51%!

Technical Analysis

The weekly chart is a tight equilibrium pattern looking to break out on the bullish catalyst. Price target $30 by early next year.
