New MG4 review: Volkswagen MUST respond!
Auto Express
The new 2022 MG4 is a wake up call for electric car makers.  (..)  This is British brand MG’s ‘ID.’ moment. While the Chinese-owned firm has dabbled with EVs in the past – including the impressive affordable ZS crossover and MG5 estate – this MG4 family hatchback is where the company’s push with its next generation of models really begins. That’s why, in almost every sense, you can see parallels with Volkswagen’s ID.3 – hence this being a crucial car for MG. For a start, both models are competing in the same sector and aiming for the same buyers: everyone from city dwellers to families who might use the MG4 as a second car, as well as company car drivers keen to cut their Benefit-in-Kind tax bill. There are even more similarities when you analyse the key figures. The MG4 EV is based on an all-new platform for the brand, called MSP, which stands for Modular Scalable Platform. Like the ID.3, it employs a rear-mounted motor producing 200bhp, which is fed by a 64kWh battery in this top-spec Trophy Long Range version for a claimed range of 270 miles. Opt for the more affordable SE Long Range and this increases to 281 miles. Meanwhile, all MG4s have 150kW rapid charging, so a 10-80 per cent top-up for the bigger battery takes 35 minutes. Use a 7kW home wallbox and it’ll take nine hours to fully replenish. As Nicola Hume finds out, the MG4 is a credible EV competitor, irrespective of the low asking price(..).
P.S.  Volkswagen's engineers, accountants, shareholders and labor union need to go home and rethink a bit about how VW builds electric cars and why they are so overpriced...Electric cars actually have far fewer mechanical parts than ICE vehicles, and many manufacturing processes can be automated and assembly labor reduced. It's increasingly starting to look like legacy automakers whining about the cost of producing electric cars and the endless justifications for high prices are complete bullshit...

MG4 Extended Range Test Driven: The Best Value EV On The Market?
MG has a reputation for producing great value cars. The MG ZS EV and its Long Range version drew a new line for affordability, followed by the MG5 EV and its Long Range version. In 2022, the MG4 EV set yet another benchmark. Now there’s an updated version of the MG4 called the Extended Range. It takes what was great about the original model and makes it even better. I spent the last week putting…

Polestar on track to achieve 2022 delivery target with Q4 boost
Polestar is confident it will be able to achieve its reworked target of 50,000 deliveries this year, with a big boost expected in quarter four to get it over the line. The Swedish-Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker delivered around 9215 vehicles in the third quarter of 2022, bringing its year-to-date figure to approximately 30,400 cars. In the last quarter (Q4) of 2022, Polestar expects to deliver the roughly 20,000 vehicles it needs to be able to achieve its 50,000 global target for the year. For more Motoring related news and videos check out Motoring >> That Q4 target would be more than double the amount of cars it delivered in the third quarter of this year. Polestar trimmed back its global annual delivery target in May from 65,000 units to 50,000 units due in part to COVID-19 lockdowns in China. “We needed to catch up on production after COVID-19 related setbacks in China and we have,” said Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath. “The majority of Polestar 2 cars set for delivery in Q4 are ready and making their way to our customers in 27 markets around the world, with the fourth quarter set to be our strongest on record yet.” “I am confident we will meet our target of 50,000 cars for this year.” Polestar expects to detail its financial and operational results for the third quarter of 2022 on November 11. On the local front, Polestar sold a total of 779 examples of its 2 high-riding liftback until the end of September, according to VFACTS registration data. September saw 85 Polestar 2 models sold, making it the fifth top-selling EV in the record sales month. It was outsold by the Tesla Model Y (4359 sales), Tesla Model 3 (1610 sales), MG ZS EV (185 sales), Hyundai Ioniq 5 (140 sales), and Hyundai Kona Electric (124 sales). Australia is considered an important launch market for Polestar. It currently offers the Polestar 2, but the broad range of future products it is gearing up to reveal are all on track to come Down Under as well. The company recently announced plans to open its first flagship Australian ‘Space’ at Melbourne’s Chadstone Shopping Centre this summer. This will supplement the existing Spaces in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Hobart, but is viewed as a more permanent solution. Polestar also has bold expansion plans. It wants to launch a new model every year between now and 2024, and will expand into 30 markets by 2030. It also intends to grow its sales from 29,000 per year to 290,000 per year by 2025. On October 13, Polestar is revealing the Polestar 3 SUV that will be built on a version of the new electric architecture set to underpin the upcoming Volvo EX90 SUV. The smaller Polestar 4 crossover is set to be revealed in 2023, and the Polestar 5 four-door GT will arrive in 2024 – bringing the Polestar Precept concept car to life. Polestar also recently announced it’s building a production version of its O2 concept, called the Polestar 6, which will launch in 2026. Polestar is a Sweden-based joint venture company run by Volvo and its Chinese parent Geely Holding, and earlier this year was listed on the NASDAQ after a SPAC IPO. 2022 MG5 an all-electric station wagon with 400km of range
D&B Review
2022 MG5 an all-electric station wagon with 400km of range. MG has revealed a first for the brand – and the world – with the MG 5, an EV station wagon with a respectable range claim. The 2022 MG 5 station wagon is set to launch in Europe in October this year, with Australian information still to be confirmed. Alongside the announcement of the new MG 5, MG confirmed another new vehicle dubbed the Marvel R, a medium SUV with three motors, 212kW of power and 665Nm of torque. While the Marvel R will likely be the brand’s volume seller, the MG 5 is still an intriguing vehicle. As for where the new MG 5 will sit in the range, you could be forgiven for not entirely understanding the brand’s naming conventions. Currently, the brand sells the HS medium SUV, the MG 3 light car and the small SUV ZS – also available in electric guise. This new MG 5 will sit somewhere in the middle of the brand’s range, below the oddly-named Marvel R in the lineup. That is, if it lands in Australia, which is still up in the air. Regardless of naming conventions, the brand is bullish with MG CEO Matt Lei saying: “with the new MG Marvel R Electric and MG 5 Electric, we introduce two next-generation battery electric vehicles that meet the demands of the most discerning European motorists.” Powering the MG 5 is a single electric motor with 135kW of power and 280Nm of torque. The range is quoted at around 400km, though MG does not cite a battery size or maximum DC fast-charge speed, just that it can be charged from 0-80 per cent in around 30 minutes. The MG 5 will be essentially peerless in Australia, but its dimensions put it in a similar category to a Skoda Octavia wagon. It measures in at 4,544mm with a 2,665mm wheelbase and a width of 1,811mm. Of course, one of the station wagon’s main callings is boot space, which MG quotes at an impressive 570L with the second row up.
