According to the book Cult of Apollo at Sparta, Apollo is usually depicted as a swan that carries Hyacinthus. And there's a pottery where Hyacinthus is riding a swan to run away from Zephyrus.

Piecing things together, Hyacinthus literally just rejected a god then hopped onto his godly boyfriend for a piggy-back ride away. Talking about rejection, man.

So for reference, I (immortalM) had this massive crush on a guy (19M) but he went for someone else instead. I was super mad so while they were playing discus, I blew the discus out of his boyfriend's hand and caused him to kill my crush. Hyapollo visual novel but you play as Hyacinthus trapped on his last day alive (groundhog day/happy death day style) trying to find a way out.

Centering on how unpredicatble and unfair life can be, and that we always wish for more but cannot have it. That sometimes the most we can hope for is enough time to say 'I love you'. That despite the uncaringness of death, it is a welcome embrace at the end of the journey. To remember the joy that was had, rather than mourn the lost possibilities.
