Summary:

Chen Xiang (played by Cao Jun), a young man in a small town, and his father Liu Yanchang (played by Liu Xiaofeng) have been living a peaceful life until one day, Chen Xiang accidentally discovers that he actually contains "magic power" in his body and could pass through walls effortlessly. After his father learned about it, he told Chen Xiang the fact that he had hidden for many years, that is, Chen Xiang's mother was actually the San Sheng Mu (played by Park Meixuan) in heaven. My Review of Chinese Drama Story of Kunning Palace.

Story of Kunning Palace is a Chinese Drama about a woman Jiang Xue Ning who schemes and plots her way into becoming the Empress but is forced to kill herself after a short reign. After death she finds herself miraculously returned to the past. She regrets all the evil things she did to become Empress and decides to make amends for her actions. She starts with her best friend Yan Lin whose love and good intentions she misused for her own benefit on her path to becoming Empress. The person she most regrets harming in the previous timeline is the official Zhang Zhe. Zhang Zhe compromised his principles to help her when she was the Empress. He was imprisoned for his actions and she used her death to save his life. As Jiang Xue Ning uses her knowledge of the future to change the lives of the people around her she catches the attention of Xie Wei. Xie Wei is the imperial tutor and imperial advisor as well as the man most responsible for her death in the previous timeline. Xie Wei met Jiang Xue Ning in the past and she discovered one of his most closely guarded secrets. In order to keep an eye on her he forces her to work with him. Xie Wei falls in love with Jiang Xue Ning and does all he can to get close to her however because she fears him, she tries to avoid him. As they work together Jiang Xue Ning learns more about Xie Wei and she falls in love with him as well. Story of Kunning Palace has a happy ending and stars Bai Lu as Jiang Xue Ning, Zhang Ling He as Xie Wei, Wang Xing Xue as Zhang Zhe and Zhou Jun Wei as Yan Lin.

Summary:

Legend of Yun Xi [review]

Plot Summary: The story follows a lady doctor called Han Yun Xi, who marries into the royal family and gets caught in the political machinations in the palace whilst she falls into a romance with her husband. The story takes place during a chaotic time when the land has split into three kingdoms; Tian Ning, Western Zhou, and Northern Li.

Overall Rating: 6.5/10

My Review:

Slightly above average drama but nothing spectacular

Did I enjoy this drama...kind of. I certainly didn't hate it. However, about 3/4ths of the way through I started losing interest but I finished it anyway.

The story started out great, and then it started to get a little muddled. There are some plot points thrown in that don't really make sense and aren't fully fleshed out. These are used mainly to just drive the story forward without having to answer too many questions or explain things. It's kind of annoying, to be honest.

The acting is decent, there are some that are really good and then some that are kind of just okay.

The characters, for the most part, are decently fleshed out and not just one single attribute but then a lot of the characters are and their personality is just made of one thing. That's annoying as well because I'd like for some of them to have more depth but whatever I guess they are side characters for a reason.

The music and ost are beautiful sounding to me, however, it's not the best I've ever heard.

If you're looking for a decent drama and you're not too worried about plot holes or having a fully fleshed-out plot and can handle some subpar acting then give it a shot. However, if any of that is going to bother you I'd say pass. Unless of course, you're interested in Zhang Zhe Han as much as I am haha...he's so pretty to look at. Ju Jing Yi is really pretty as well.

*Spoiler..kinda*: There are 2 different endings to this drama. One is a sad ending and the other is "happy"...depending on how you would define that. The version you see will depend on where you watch it. But both endings can be found as clips on youtube.

Rewatch Value: 5/10 honestly once you watch it all the way through it's kinda tough to watch it again. Any and all surprises are gone and there's not enough story left to entertain. Unless you just like watching the small clips of Yun Xi and Feiye.

My Favorite Characters: Yun Xi, Qing Ge, NingJing, Xi Feng, Zhuye, Feiye (kinda lol).
