I'm realizing that fiction podcasts have made me do a shit ton of self reflection.
Like, more than any other media I've ever consumed. Listening to the magnus archives (especially season 5) made me realize and be able to put a name to what i was truly afraid of. And its still making me reflect on me as a person and what i like an fear.
The Penumbra Podcast also kinda did that? More it sent me into a gender crisis that im still chilling in. But Juno's character development through the seasons hit me like a bit of a bus. Especially him leaving Nureyev and all-round his self destructive behavior made me do a lot of look at how i face my issues.
Other ones like Camp Here & There and Jar of Rebuke also just made me thing a lot when characters were having conversations and i cant really find the words but they also made me look at myself.
I'm not sure where I'm going with this, I think this just means fiction podcasts are the superior medium
(Honorable mention : A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO FAKING YOUR DEATH, an Album by jhariah also made me do a lot of self reflection and made me realize that i am totally ready to run away from my problems and fake my death) (don't worry im working on it)

This week I learned how to fake my own death
Woo new week new album this week I listened to "A Beginner's Guide To Faking Your Own Death" By Jhariah
Tumblr media
ooh thats a very nice album cover indeed, very very nice
⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 out of 5 stars) I really enjoyed this album! Not usually the type of music I go for but I had fun!
Found this artist through Instagram and they seemed super cool and I loved their energy so I thought I'd give them a shot and it was definitely worth it!
I don't usually go for this more eccentric style of music but it's good to expand and blah blah blah
Anyways if you like Will Wood you'll probably like Jhariah but he's definitely got lots of artists that influence their style and it's lots of fun
But y'all did not come here to hear me yap about an artist that i only found out about this week so here are my top 3! (as always, no particular order, just the album order)
"Enter: A Beginner's Guide To Faking Your Death" Although i don't like to pick the first song off an album, I LOVE this song. It has such an interesting instrumentation and the piano at the start is addictive. Their vocals are lots of fun on this one too!
"Pressure Bomb 3?!?!" Is so much fun!!! I could listen to this song over and over. I love the way it tells the story and flows between sounds. And of course a song about your thoughts going too fast is pretty much my life so yeah, amazing song!
"To Take for Granted. -Live from the Faraday Cage" This song THRIVES being live, the way this song sounds iches my brain. And those vocals being live wow. I love the instrumentation and the drums are lots of fun on this one. love this one a lot. It feels like it's out of a musical in the best way possible.
Honorable mentions 🥳🥳🥳
"Needed a Change of Pace" Is super cool!! like the noises in this one, super fun production!
"Whose Eye Is It Anyway??? -Live from the Faraway Cage" LOVE the way he sings on this one dear lord and the chorus is a lot of fun
"Bad Luck" Is a lot of fun, love this one especially the way they sing "You'll never catch a break, you'll have to make your own" augh good song
The main goal for this year was to listen to more stuff that I would normally not go for and this week definitely was definitely a style of alternative I don't normally go for but I had a great time and enjoyed the music
Definitely give them a listen if you have the chance!

I can't listen to any songs from the album 'A Beginner's Guide to Faking Your Death' by Jhariah without thinking about Light Yagami. If you haven't heard it you should give it a listen, it has some of my favourite songs in it :D

Video
youtube
After a successful debut album and EP, Jhariah was working towards their next great album. However, while experimenting with some singles, a new project started to come together. A mix of old songs and new, of remixes and singles, that started to form one cohesive picture. The end result was 'A Beginner's Guide to Faking Your Death', and it became one of his most famous releases. With some solid music and a cohesive plotline, I knew while listening that it would make the perfect subject for a new video. But I didn't know just how deep the rabbit hole would take me...

A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO FAKING YOUR DEATH - Jhariah
hi here's this album track by track, my favorite song from the album is at the bottom if you wanna listen to it while you read this yo
ENTER: A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO FAKING YOUR DEATH - 4/5
Fantastic tone-setter, honestly - love the vibes of this track. I only caution to rate is a 5/5 because i know pressure bomb 3 is on here and that song is a 5/5 for sure lol
NEEDED A CHANGE OF PACE - 3/5
I just wanna say I really like the cover art and capitalizing all of the titles is so fun, and it just sets a distinct energy, and I just thought about it now so I'm jamming it in here. uhhh anyway, this song is so funky, I love the energy of it so much, this song has a B section, and it's pretty solid.
also @ urself i'm him crying at the end and going "and scene"
PRESSURE BOMB 3?!?! - 5/5
this song is how I found this album actually. it's really good. I listened to Pressure Bomb 1&2 and 3 is definitely my favorite, but they get progressively better over time. This song is really good though,,, it's my favorite
DEBT COLLECTOR - 4/5
there's a certain electronic sound in the instrumental and I'm fuckin' with it so much, because it's why I'm getting this like techno energy, and I can't put my finger on it but i'm fucking with it oh my god. the B side of this song is really good, too.
Who's Eye Is It Anyway? - Live from the Faraday cage - 2.5/5
normal punctuation for the slower pace song? oh fuck yes I'm here for it I love it when albums have a little thing yo
I probably won't listen to it way too much outside of my first full listen of the album.
To Take For Granted. - Live from the Faraday cage - 4/5
I accidentally listened to the first few seconds of this earlier because I put it on shuffle by accident, it hooks you in so fast, I love this song >=D
Only complaint: it feels long near the end I don't know why lmfao
BAD LUCK! - 2.5/5 i think
I always get burnt out around here with any album < 3 my last 3 reviews will be weird probably
uhhh this song has 3 sections and I think that's really cool, I like songs that are dynamic, thas have parts and stuff to better tell a story. this song i think does it really well structurally, I just wasn't a huge fan of it
Flight of the Crows - 5/5
okay this one gave pressure bomb 3 a run for it's money as my favorite song. tells the story it intends to really well. I really like songs that make me feel like the sing is agonizing. I love this song so much oh my god
PRESSURE BOMB 2!!!! (Bonus Track) - 2.5/5 IIt's alright lol. I prefer this over PB 1, but then I prefer pb3 over them all. weird that pb 2 comes after pb 3 in the album but it is a bonus track lol
