So I'm still in the process of reading my fiancé @echidnapower's fic, and right here is a scene from Chapter 2 of that story! Seems like Ash isn't the only one dealing with some serious heartache, as illustrated below.

The time has come ladies and gentlemen, Pokeshippers of all ages...the next chapter of AAML: Diamond and Pearl version is here at last! Big thanks to @zdbztumble for proofreading for me before I published it.

Hence why AAML D&P is still in need of some major rewriting and reformatting. Going back and reading my early works is a painful experience to say the least.

Reading my own fanfiction is basically just a rollercoaster of emotional whiplash.

20% of the time: “Hold on. I wrote this? This is fire. This is emotionally devastating in the best way. This scene is dripping with tension. I’m a literary perfectionist. Someone give me a book deal.”

80% of the time: “Straight to jail. Immediate prison. Why is everyone’s breath hitching?. I used the word ‘gaze’ three times in one paragraph like I was possessed. Did I think 'his eyes darkened' was profound? Why is everyone clenching their jaws? Why is someone whispering 'their name like a prayer' again?? No one talks like this. What is this dialogue. Why are there so many weird metaphors and em-dashes…”

After getting a sudden reminder of Misty's importance in his life thanks to her old handkerchief getting knocked out of his hat during a practice battle with Dawn, Ash is sent spiraling as memories of his adventures with Misty cause him to miss the redheaded Gym Leader more and more.

So even though I am literally marrying @echidnapower I have never actually read his old and (VERY OMG!) long story where he rewrites the Diamond and Pearl series to include Misty in it...you may ask why that is, and the answer is simple!

...he hasn't allowed me to.

Bless his heart, he wants the story to be up to his new standards, and he keeps telling me his old chapters make him cringe. But a few days ago he told me he's finally ready to let me read it, and I liked the first chapter enough to be inspired to draw this scene from it!

Ladies and gentlemen, it's here. The time has come to bring an end to the Team Galactic arc for my Diamond and Pearl rewrite.

Over 10 years, 80 chapters and over a million words worth of writing in that span. It's been a journey, and even still it's nowhere near over.

In an attempt to stave off the emptiness he feels, Ash puts on his old vest from back when he was traveling with Misty. But all that does is make him miss her even more, leading Brock and Dawn's concern for their friend to grow.
