Favorite thing about pokeshipping?
Tumblr media
You put them together and they're just always playing off eachother. Either he's trolling her or she's scolding him. Or they're sharing a brain cell. Or they're defending eachother from a threat. No matter what, they're always doing something to involve the other. There isn't a scene I can't think of where they aren't the other's wingman or critic.
And it's always entertaining to watch.

AURA FAM - Middle names
Ash: You know I noticed something.
Riley: What?
Ash: Me, Sir Aaron, and Amanda, all have names that start with A. Even our psychopathic murderous uncle's starts with an A. Yours is the only one that starts with an R.
Riley: That is weird. I guess I never noticed.
Amanda: His middle name is Arthur.
Ash: Wait...Seriously?
Riley: Yes, our dad was a literature nut.
Ash: Hold on, your middle name is Arthur, Amanda's middle name is Morgan. Isn't that calling her an Evil half-sister?
Amanda: Arceus, I wish I was, but of the four of us, someone needs to be responsible.

So in the Self-Help Hotline AU I'm starting with just seven Ashes, eight when you include the central Ash who's just starting out. I'll probably add a few at certain milestones (definitely when he goes to a new region (including the Orange Islands that totally counts) possibly after movies and similar Big Legendary-Related Disasters but I'm undecided there). Arceus gave them all nicknames because otherwise it'd start with the chat filled with nothing but "Ash Ketchum" and it'd be impossible to tell who's talking.
Mini-Me: The central Ash who just got a Pikachu who hates him but is technically giving him a chance (you really think he couldn't have just ran away whenever, even during the fishing line bit?) and left Palette Town on the Pokemon Journey of a lifetime. An arrogant, overconfident little dumbass elementary-schooler with a heart of gold who constantly switches between having an ego nearly as big as Gary's and having no self-esteem whatsoever with no in-between.
O.G.A. / TheLlamasErrandBoy: The Ash from the end of the main timeline (or at least a timeline so extremely close to it that it's functionally the main timeline), with all the character development and Trauma that entails. Arceus gave him Admin Privileges and Dipped after explaining what the chat was made for so he's allowed to change nicknames and immediately abuses that power to roast The Original One Itself.
QueenOfTheWorld: Ashley Ketchum. She had a few Realizations during the stuff in Celadon so she's transfem. Her Journey had the fewest differences from the Main Timeline of the six AU Ashes since being a girl didn't change that much about her life.
L.G.M.: The version from my Invader Ash AU. By now he's aware that his mission wasn't what he thought it was and is fine with being Earth's hero instead of its ruler. He's still morally a very dark grey and kind of crazy though. He is still an Irken and still loyal to the Empire (particularly Tallest Delia) after all.
Aaron Jr: an Ash from a world where the Aura Guardians never faded into obscurity and he received formal training from a young age. Insists that he doesn't count as a child soldier since he stumbled across disasters on his journey for Chosen One Reasons just like the other Ashes did rather than the Order deliberately sending him to solve those problems. Actually the fact that this literal child keeps ending up in so much danger despite their best efforts is one of the Order's biggest headaches. The fact that he's so good at dealing with it (and is one of the most powerful Guardians in decades) only eases their worries a little.
Spooky: A version of Ash who succumbed to the injuries and exhaustion he sustained during the Spearow chase and became a Misdreavus due to a hasty halfway-too-late resurrection attempt from Ho-Oh. He's currently a Mismagius, a master illusionist, the World Monarch just like most of the other Ashes, and has long since come to terms with his death and species change. He does still have a vengeful hatred (and slight fear) of the Spearow line, but can you really blame him?
MyJobIsBeach: An Ash who stayed in Alola to help fully establish the League after becoming the Champion. He did technically go through the plot of Journeys but instead of being a research assistant he just kept running into Goh and Chloe while working his way through the World Coronation Series. He is still friends with them but not quite as close as in most timelines.
DoTheMario!: An Ash who's somewhat more familiar with the Multiverse than the others because his world is permanently linked with a version of the Mushroom Kingdom following a recent adventure. As in, he just finished dealing with the related Big Disaster and stabilizing the connection (since for Complicated Space-Time-Continuum-Could-Get-Torn-Apart reasons they couldn't sever the connection) a couple weeks before the chat got made. Since the point of divergence was so recent (and post-series) he's the second closest to the Main Timeline out of the starting lineup after Ashley.

Something I think hardly anyone has considered is Ash’s Dad being from Rota. A place we know has ample aura considering the flowers that can record moments. Maybe Delia went there on a trip for Professor Oak back when she was his student and met the guy. I think we can strongly argue that Sir Aaron was from the Rota area. Meaning some of Ash’s Dad’s ancestors could have been related to other aura guardians. Just new headcanon—
That’s actually a cool hc.

Y'know, I've come across Aura Guardian AUs of Ash where he turns out to be the descendant or son of Sir Aaron, but the statement of Sir Aaron's Lucario got me wondering - he mistook Ash for Sir Aaron due to their Aura being similar.
So, I thought:
Instead of the "related to Sir Aaron" AU, why not the "reincarnation of Sir Aaron" AU?

Au where Ash is an aura guardian in the same era as sir Aaron.
Sir Aston is the black sheep of aura guardians as he takes a more “fine I’ll do it myself” in regards to most issues instead of the passive support from the shadows approach most guardians desire.
Sir Aaron definitely isn’t one for rumours but Sir Aston has a list of them far to long for them all to be lies. Tales of Sir Aston being a menace to all, not limited to just Kings and Queens but legendary Pokémon themselves! Not to even touch the rumours of the Pokémon he keeps the company of

Hi,
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I was just wondering if you were still going to continue The Guardian’s Apprentice?
I plan on continuing it, though I don’t know when I’ll pick it up again.

Round 2, Match 56: David Wymack vs. Ash Ketchum
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Submitted kids:
David Wymack: Kevin Day (biological), Andrew Minyard (spiritually adopted), Aaron Minyard (spiritually adopted), Neil Josten (spiritually adopted), Dan Wilds (spiritually adopted), Nicky Hemmick (spiritually adopted), Matt Boyd (spiritually adopted), Renee Walker (spiritually adopted), Allison Reynolds (spiritually adopted)
Ash Ketchum: Many of his Pokémon
Propaganda under the cut!
David Wymack:
1. “He purposefully made a college sports team to take in fucked up kids and give them second chances. He gave them a home and support when no one else would. And he’s sooooo grouchy about it, like he doesn’t love these kids and fight for them every second of every day. For fuck’s sake, he adopted his ex-girlfriends son when he was escaping major abuse before he even knew he was ALSO his OWN biological son!!! The woman he loved had a kid and he took him in without hesitation and he didn’t even know! He didn’t even know!!! Wymack fights the media, the college courts, the legal courts, the fucking Mafia, all because he loves his kids and knows they deserve more than the world has ever given them. I wish Wymack was my dad. DILF of the year”
2. “- He is the coach of a college sports team
- His team is comprised only of kids who need second chances
- This team is entirely found family
- He works very hard to make sure these kids get a chance to shine
- He gives second chances. And third chances. And whatever amount of chances you need
- He once spoke to a therapist about one of his athletes, saying I trust you to do what's right by my kids"”
3. “His whole thing is literally adopting the children who have had a messed up childhood. The violent ones and the ones who runway from stability. Without spoiling the series he gives Neil a place to live without question. He cares for all the the foxes (the sports team he coaches), and gives the opportunity to change and find family.”
4. “He just wants them to get the second chance he never had!!!!”
Ash Ketchum:
“Ok. You may question what I'm talking about it, but think about some of his Pokemon here.
- Charizard: Abandoned by their trainer. Ash stood by them and watched as their abilities grew.
- Infernape: Abandoned by their trainer for being too “weak”. Ash helped raise them without the cold abuse and helped them show their original trainer the mistake they made.
- Incineroar: Took in after the passing of their mentor.
There are dozens of instances like this. He’s left multiple Pokémon behind because he’s helped them find happier lives, and he can still keep in touch with them from time to time.”

could you go more into detail about Phanthump!Ash? a bit confused about it.
Ash dies around Hoenn when the cries of a Marshtomp stuck in some kind of tar or something. It’s night so everyone else it asleep. He goes to help the Pokémon and falls in and can’t get out. Nobody realizes what happens until a Phantump comes around with Ash’s hat and little zig zags carved into the tree-mask like face.
He leads them over to the pit where he died and pointed at it, then to him, then the hat. Unluckily Max got the hint first and blurted out that the Phantump is Ash and that he died. Chaos immediately ensues and Pikachu is desperately hugging Ash to him. It takes a day or two before Ash can speak human, confusing everyone but Brock tiredly just chalks it up to Ash being Ash.
Ash doesn’t mind the change, plans to become the greatest Pokémon master still on course. Just with a slight twist. It’s not like anything drastically changed. He can hug them all, converse with them, and still eat Brock’s food happily. He’s not phased as everyone else.
Sir Aaron’s Lucario survived the Tree of Life and immediately decided to stick with the group, becoming some kind of emotional support Pokémon to them all but more towards Ash. Eventually they meet up with Mewtwo when the three boys come back to Kanto.
Delia and the league are a whole other detailed post but in short story Ash is still consider a Pokémon and a trainer as his Pokémon still follow battle commands and Ash can still fluently speak Human with his same voice and everything. Allowing him to essentially have a seven Pokémon on his team though Lance made him promise that he’d only use himself in battle when it was absolutely necessary. Ash being the little shit he is used every loophole necessary because he now realizes just why his Pokémon enjoy fighting just as much as him.

Horror Comedy AU where Ash Ketchum is an eldritch abomination spawned from an Unfathomable Void, but is still his usual self.
Basically, Delia was an Interpol Agent back in the day with luck just as strange as Ash's, and on her Last Job she got captured by a doomsday cult that was trying to summon a dark god equal to Arceus Itself and bring about the apocalypse. This doesn't work out, both because Delia's Aura awakens and messes with the ritual (I always prefer to think that Ash's weird ambiguous connection to Sir Aaron comes his mom's side even if in most universes she doesn't have a usable amount of Aura), and because the Void God they're trying to awaken helped Arceus create the world in the first place (and the two of Them kind of have a thing going on) so It wouldn't have helped them destroy it even if the ritual had worked.
Instead they only get a "small" fragment of Void Stuff that mixes with some of Delia's Aura to become a living mass of Darkness covered in writhing tendrils and glowing blue eyes that absorbs all the cultists, knocks out every Pokemon in the room, frees Delia, and shrinks down into the form of a human baby. Delia, being a Ketchum and a major character in a crack fic, promptly decides "my baby now" (to be fair she's not exactly wrong?) and leaves Interpol to reopen her late grandmother's old diner in Palette Town. She was planning to do that anyway even before ending up with a monster baby so it works out I guess.
Meanwhile, Giratina actually noticed the massive spike of Void that was Ash's birth and since the whole issue got resolved so quickly it takes a couple months for her to find where her new half sibling ended up (you read that right. She's the god of symmetry, Light and Dark are included in that, so Arceus and Void God both created her. Also I'm using she/her for Giratina because immortal genderless embodiments of universal concepts can use whatever pronouns they want), and when she does she offers to help him learn how to use his void powers...well, mostly. See, in this version of the Pokemon Universe not all Legendary Pokemon are gods and there are gods who aren't Legendaries, and the ones that are both tend to lean towards one or the other, so Giratina who's more Pokemon-leaning and only half-void functions very differently from Ash who isn't Pokemon at all and almost fully void, so there's some things she just can't help with.
Still, the fact that she's offering to help at all is a big relief for Delia who is doing great so far but would probably be in over her head raising what's essentially a Horror Movie Monster on her own, so Giratina makes semi-regular visits over the years both to help with powers and just to bond with her new little brother (and new mom because there is no way Delia Ketchum doesn't win her over). Also, absolutely no attempt is made to hide Ash's true nature both because I find it funny and because the Pokemon World is already weird enough that Palette Town having a baby demon just living there barely registers as noteworthy.
As far as Ash's childhood goes, it mostly follows the same beats as canon, though there are obviously some weird things that pop up. For one thing, one of his powers is that he can understand any language, including Pokemon. And, because they're sensitive to this sort of thing Pokemon can usually tell that he isn't human even without him using his more obvious powers, and that makes most wild Pokemon more receptive to him than usual.
Except birds. Birds really don't like him for some reason.
Also he turns out to have healing powers, which he finds out during that scene with Serena. Basically, he makes the cloth he ties her injury with out of some of the Void Stuff that makes up his true form, and by the time they get to Professor Oak both the cloth and the injury are gone. There are, however, side-effects, which Serena only finds out about after she moves to Kalos and Ash only finds out about years later when he saves Charmander. (I'll get to that later)
On to the first day of his Journey, things only go slightly more smoothly thanks to Ash and Pikachu being able to communicate properly, and they still get chased by every Spearow on Route 1 because all of them are trying to "Destroy the Void Spawn!" This means they still fall off the waterfall and get fished up by Misty, who gets the Full Horror Experience because after All That Shit Ash is worn out which makes him kind of Melty. And, well, Pikachu is injured, the Spearow are still coming, he can't maintain a coherent enough form to keep going on his own, and this is Season 1 Ash who can be kind of an impulsive jerk sometimes at what would normally be the bike stealing scene, so he kind of...possesses Misty and Books It.
And since this isn't a power he's ever used before and he's using it in a high-stress situation while injured, his control isn't the best, so she catches a glimpse of the Unknowable Truths of the Void, and that combined with her being there for the Biggest Thundershock Ever makes her a little...fanatical about Ash's whole Eldritch God Thing. They're still friends first and foremost and still develop something similar to their usual dynamic but the fanaticism is there, especially at the beginning. At least she's not worried about the bike this time?
Also when Ho-oh shows up he kind of visibly stumbles in midair because he was not expecting the Chosen One to be that! This is why we don't let the local Mew be the only one doing check-ins.
Anyway, Brock and Team Rocket are still their usual selves, apart from Team Rocket deciding to do research into how to fight demons so they'll actually stand a chance at stealing Pikachu so now they've got a Nacli (because salt) and a bit of an Exorcist Schtick going on.
The Charmander Incident goes a bit differently, because they just barely don't make it in time and Ash basically tells the universe NO and brings him back, which is how he finds out that his healing powers have side-effects because this time those effects are immediate. When Charmander's tail flame relights it's somehow black, he has what seems to be a new Ability that makes all his Fire-Type moves also do Ghost-Type damage, and as time goes on his scales darken until he has Shiny Charizard's color scheme. This goes further when he evolves, because he has some clear differences from a normal Charmeleon beyond just his colors, and he seems to now actually be part Ghost.
I also had some ideas for later on, like May being full of Ghosts because she's easy to get into but extremely hard to get out of or control, and Dawn being Akari who ended up as a Hisuian Zoroark and got back to the present the long way, but for now this is what I've got.
