He didn’t notice the quiet whispers in the halls, or the flickering fires lighting his palace. He didn’t notice his father’s outrageous screams or Kattappa’s frown. He didn’t notice the restless people of Sundarsi discussing what should be done. But he noticed Aarya’s stoic but pale face, her reluctance to look up and her fingers twitching at her sides as she got bombarded by every voice, demanding answers. 

“Aarya will not speak to anyone right now,” Bhalla’s voice boomed over every other voice and instantly made them shut up. He walked over to Aarya, carelessly brushing past Rudra and took her hand into his, rubbing soothing patterns. She exhaled, closing her eyes as he gently brushed her hair out of her face. “Would you like me to take you to your room? It’s been a long day, you must be exhausted.” 

“But Bhalla-” “Not now, Nanna.” Bhalla firmly said, casting his father a glare as Aarya nodded slowly, moving closer to him. Bhalla turned to Kattappa and nodded wordlessly, making the old general bow and escort Anjasi, Sadhana and Sundarsi’s head priest away. As Bhalla and Aarya began to leave, Rudra’s voice made them pause. “I’ll come along, Your Majesty.”

Bhalla’s face hardened and he turned, but Aarya said, “No, you will not. Bhalla, let’s go.” Rudra’s face crumpled behind them as they left, the flickering lights slowly going out entirely. He turned to see Bijjaladeva staring at him with a sneer, who then turned to one of the guards and said, “Give him a room. We still need to discuss this later on.” 

He watched Rudra leave and his sneer returned, closing his eyes as the fire came back to life in the torches.

Aarya rested her face in her hands, groaning as Bhalla sat next to her. “What is going on? The stones, now Rudra back, this is all so confusing and scary, Bhalla. I was told he was dead, and now he’s standing in front of me.” Bhalla’s eyes softened as he realised she was avoiding Rudra’s proclamation of winning her, and turned her face towards him, a smirk on his face.

“This is a very stupid joke, I’m sure he’s not even Rudra. That impostor will be punished, don’t-” “Oh but he is, Bhalla. That man is Rudra.” Aarya stood up from her place, pacing around her room as he watched. “How do you know?” She sighed, turning to him with an almost guilty look in her eyes. “Rudra is the only one who raises my hand to his forehead, and he only did so when we used to meet secretly. No one touched me, and so he did that in our privacy.”

Bhalla stood up as well, towering over her as she avoided his eyes.”Look at me,” she slowly looked up, feeling his warm eyes on her face. “If you wish to go back to him,” Aarya opened her mouth but he raised his hand, stopping her. “I will not let you go easily, Aarya. I’ll fight you to keep you with me, and him too. I’ll fight your Mahadev if I have to, my name is not Bhallaladeva for no reason.”

Aarya smiled, bringing her hand up to cradle his cheek. “You won’t have to fight anyone anymore, Bhalla.” He leaned into her touch, closing his eyes as his heart sped up at her words. “You won, alright? You won me over, and nothing will make me leave you. I’m all yours.”

Bhalla’s eyes shot open as he stared down at her, his heart racing at her admission. “You’re all mine?” She nodded, her face burning as he pulled her closer to him. “I’m all yours, in this life and the next.”

“Say that again.”

Thoughts left Aarya’s mind when he pulled her face towards his, straight into a seering kiss. Her knees gave away as he hooked his arms under her legs, carrying her to her bed without breaking the kiss. Bhalla set her down gently, pulling away and smirking when she chased after him, eyes closed and breathing heavily. 

“You didn’t say it again, Aarya.” 

Her eyes fluttered open, and she huffed slightly as his smirk widened. “I’m all yours, Bhalla.” His smirk softened and he pressed a soft kiss to her cheek, straightening. “We will solve this problem, and get married too. I can’t wait to call you my queen. Now sleep, you must be tired.”

He turned to leave when Aarya grabbed his hand, her eyes fluttering shut already. “Stay for a while, please. I want you close.” He wordlessly nodded, a small smile on his face as he sat next to her on the bed, caressing her cheek fondly as she drifted off peacefully.

Bhalla studied her features for a little longer, exhaling as he walked out and shut the door behind him, face grim. “Is she asleep?” The voice made him snap out of his thoughts and he looked up, seeing Rudra in front of him. He strolled over to Bhalla, eyes on his hands that were still on the door. Bhalla nodded, his eyes hardening as both of them sized each other up.

“You’re her fiancé, aren’t you? I’m surprised she has agreed to wed you.” Bhalla sighed to himself, straightening as he towered over the soldier. “I’m surprised you thought she would still wait for you.” Aarya had in fact, waited. Bhalla guessed Rudra didn’t need to know that.

“Oh, I’m completely sure she waited. I know my princess very well, Your Majesty.”

Rudra knew. It didn’t matter though.

“Maybe your princess waited for you, but not my queen.” Rudra’s face fell before he got stoic again, stepping forward. “As long as it was her who chose, and you weren’t chosen for her. But you should know, her mind changes very quickly. Will you ever be enough? You, who is no different from the beasts her Mahadev kills without mercy.”

Rudra turned to leave when Bhalla spoke up. “You might be right, but she won’t let me die in his hands. I thought you knew better, Rudra; don’t you know how fiercely protective she is of the ones she loves? Parvati also takes the form of Durga and Kali when she sees fit.” He patted Rudra’s shoulder and smirked, leaning forward. 

“Underestimate me and my will to kill for her all you want, but don’t disregard her loyalty for me. Or wait, maybe you’ll see it for yourself.”

Rudra glared as Bhalla left, his hands twitching at his sides.

“So,” Bijjaladeva began, a sneer on his face as Aarya sat in front of him, Bhalla to her side. All the priests of Sundarsi and Mahishmati were present too, charts and horoscopes lined around, waiting, while Kattappa and Sadhana stood guard close to their king and queen. “Now that her former lover is back, do we still have to go about with this charade?” Bhalla scowled, his grip on his sword tightening while Aarya rolled her eyes.

“We all know you hate me, stop trying to put out your ideas like they matter here. I’m going to wed him, whether you like it or not.”

The doors opened and Rudra walked in, eyes on Aarya as he bowed to her. The head priest of Sundarsi cleared his throat, carefully regarding Rudra once before he turned to Aarya. “Your Majesty, according to your charts, there is no better day for you to wed than the day after tomorrow. And if not then, you can’t wed for another year. So I suggest you-” “Then we will do it the day after tomorrow.” Bhalla said, looking at Aarya who nodded with a smile. “We don’t wish to wait.” 

Rudra watched the processions as the plans went on, his eyes on Aarya as she animatedly took part in everything, her enthusiasm rubbing off on everyone around her. His eyes shifted to Bhalla, Rudra’s chest tightening uncomfortably as he saw him gaze at her. 

Aarya would turn and look at Bhalla, her smile turning shy as she would look away, their fingers touching fleetingly out of everyone’s sight and glances more than just lingering. Rudra’s face remained the same as he stepped away from Aarya, eyes staying on her for a second before he turned to leave the room. His footsteps echoed in the halls as he strode past everyone, tears burning in his eyes when a voice called out to him.

“You don’t wish for them to get married, do you?” Bijjaladeva’s words made him freeze in his place, unmoving while the old man caught up to him. “It’s visible in your eyes, you actually have returned to make her yours again. So why aren’t you-”

“Because I might be hers, as I have always been, but her heart belongs to your son. And as much as it pains me, I love her too much to ever take her away from what makes her happy.” Bijjaladeva rested his hand on Rudra’s shoulder, tutting sympathetically. “You’re a good man, Rudra,” he cooed gently, “and as much as I hate that vile woman, she deserves better than my son. You would protect her from everything, not just as her love but as a soldier too, but I can’t say the same for my son. He has his brother, his nephew and mother killed, his sister-in-law jailed and tortured ruthlessly for going against him. Should Aarya ever disagree with him, what’s to say he won’t do that again?”

His grip on Rudra’s shoulder tightened as he inched closer, voice low. “You love her and she loves him, but Bhalla may not later on. Protect her, Rudra. Do whatever you can to save your queen, and I’ll help you with it. You shall thank me later on, believe me.” Rudra stayed quiet, mulling over his words as the old man watched him, mouth twitching into a smirk.

Bhalla and Aarya sat next to each other, watching the sunset when Anjasi arrived, bowing. “Your Majesty, you need to leave to your quarters, the wedding preparations require you to stay away from the king till the day of your wedding.” Aarya smiled gently at Bhalla and stood up, walking away from him. As he watched her retreating figure, a frown took over his face, and he turned to Kattappa. “Did you tell Nanna about Rudra being the one Aarya was in love with?” He shook his head, making Bhalla’s frown deepen. 

“Find out what Nanna is up to, I don’t like where this is headed.”

Sushmita Sen reveals she wasn’t aware Shah Rukh Khan was a part of Main Hoon Na when she signed the film: “Nobody had been told anything”

Main Hoon Na also stars Zayed Khan, Kirron Kher, Boman Irani, Bindu, and Suniel Shetty, among others.

Sushmita Sen's illustrious career spans nearly three decades, marked by memorable performances. Among them, her portrayal of Miss Chandni in Main Hoon Na opposite Shah Rukh Khan stands out as a fan favourite. However, Sen recently disclosed that she was initially unaware of her casting alongside SRK.

Speaking to Pinkvilla, Sushmita Sen revealed that she wasn’t aware Shah Rukh Khan was a part of Main Hoon Na until she signed the movie. Recalling the shoot of the song ‘Dilbar Dilbar’ for Sirf Tum, choreographed by Farah, she asked, “The day I make a film, will you be my heroine? I said yes, whenever you make it. I’ll be there.” Several years later, when Farah reached out to Sushmita, the actress simply responded, “Tell me where to sign.”

“I never asked her who the hero is, I never asked anything about the movie. She kept her word, I kept mine and I went there,” she said, clueless about who the rest of the cast was. “I walk in very matter of fact and I walk in and go ‘Oh (with a loud gasp)’. I said ‘Farah, why is Shah Rukh Khan here? She said he is also wondering why you are here because nobody had been told anything. It was a surprise. I said when you took a promise from me, you should have told me that Shah Rukh would be in the movie. That’s an amazing thing that happened. She made this film with so much love.”

 Main Hoon Na also stars Zayed Khan, Kirron Kher, Boman Irani, Bindu, and Suniel Shetty, among others.

The ceramic horses of the Tamil region in southern India are connected to cultural meanings that are more than a thousand years old, but the significations associated with them also reach into the contemporary world and even into a utopian beyond. This article explores the status of history provoked by the horses. Jarzombek argues that modernity is not something against which history and "tradition" are posited or against which society is expected to react, but rather is the core element in the cultural pattern of rupture and inscription.

In the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India, each of the numerous villages has a special shrine dedicated to what are called "village deities." These deities, some of which are dedicated to particular castes, others to local clans, are not part of the Hindu pantheon but protagonists in a complex fabric of mythologies and tales that spell out the conditions of order and morality in the village.1 The shrines are usually located on the outskirts of town and have at their core a sacred tree in front of which are statues of some of the deities along with a large figure of a horse, sometimes with a rider, sometimes without. Many of the horses that one sees today are concrete and painted in bright yellows, blues, and whites. Some, how ever, are still created from clay and are left natural. This is Aiyanar (also: Ayyanaar), a god unique to the Tamils. Although he acts as rainmaker and as a god who brings prosperity to the fields, his primary mission is to patrol village borders and protect its inhabitants from harm.2 Swift and fierce and hold ing a sword in his hand, he makes the rounds of the village and its nearby fields at night, and should one happen to encounter him in the dark, confrontation is to be avoided if one values one's life.3 Despite the need for respectful distance, villagers can communicate with him by placing paper messages against his sword. Often the solutions are revealed in dreams.4 Apart from the large horse, the village shrine will have smaller horses --sometimes many hundreds of them--that line the pathways to the sacred tree. These horses are thanks giving offerings made by the priest for individual devotees.

The making of these horses is a sacred act carried out by Aiyanar's attendant priests who belong to a caste known as Vishvakarma, the "creator of the world," the "architect of the universe."5 The process begins with a nighttime procession from the house of the village chief to the site of the shrine, where a work pit, identified as a sacred womb, is created and ritually demarcated by the blood of a chicken.6 Over the next fourteen days or so, the horse takes shape to eventually be fired in situ with an improvised kiln of mud, bricks, and straw. When the horse is finished, it is dedicated in an elaborate ceremony, known as kutirai etuppu, that involves the whole village.7

As deities go, Aiyanar is not particularly old. The first evidence of his existence in visual iconography dates to the rule of the Pallavas in the seventh century CE, the earliest evidence of a temple dedicated to Aiyanar dates somewhat later to the eighth century CE.15 Clearly he predated this, but not by much. There are two arguments about his origins: one, that he is part of the integration of the Brahmin culture into Tamil areas in the sixth and seventh centuries CE; and two, that he is part of the circa-fourth-century BCE formation of village networks in the area.16 Asko Parpola, from the University of Helsinki, defends the first of these positions, arguing that the Aiyanar cult emerged as a consequence of the Aryan migration into the Tamil country, for it was the Aryans, after all, who in the first millennium BCE brought the horse to India. Parpola also notes the similarity of the words Aarya and Aiyan.17 Those who defend the second position cite the possibility that horses existed in this area well before the arrival of the Brah mins. They also point to an alternative etymology that links the word Aiyanarto the old Tamil word Ai, which means "elder, chief, or leader."18 For this group of scholars, the Aiyanar cult had its origins with the creation of village society. And indeed, Aiyanar is considered by Tamil villagers to be more than just the village muscle man; he is the chief of the other village gods, and any dedication to the other gods must be preceded by a dedication to him. The horse cult was a mechanism of surveillance and control.

If the Mother goddess shrines date back to prehistory, the Aiyanar horses in front of these trees and groves are by comparison quite new. The situation at the Tamil shrines is not dissimilar to the one at Delphi, which began as a sanctuary to the mother earth goddess but, after the invasion of the Dorians around 1200 BCE, was rededicated to the god Apollo, but without totally obliterating the earth goddess elements of the site. Here in Tamil territory, the Aiyanar cult, even if it was homegrown, has to be seen as "the new" that plugged itself into the mother goddess shrines and its associated landscape of sacred trees and groves. What we have is not a fusion of old and new, but an assertion of power that exposed the rupture of time to both borrow the sacredness of the old and bring into the open a new instrument of control. History, which is identical with its devices of enforcement, asserts the legitimacy of its ruptural logic. In this case, Aiyanar is quite literally history on horseback.

The first instance of Aiyanar's reinvention took place in the thirteenth century, when, with the disappearance of Buddhism in India and the emergence of Hinduism as the state religion, the old village mythologies came to be gradually linked directly and indirectly with the Hindu worldview. Aiyanar was also upgraded, to be defined as nothing less than the son of Siva and Vish'nu; he was born, so the story goes, not through copulation, but from the sperm of Siva when Siva became desirous of Vish'nu, who, though normally a man, took a female form while churning the ocean to get nectar in the Hindu creation myth. In other words, Aiyanar was born ex utero to two male gods in a type of conceptual gap that was created when Vish'nu was in disguise as a woman. It is a unique form of procreation that allowed Aiyanar to be placed post facto into the mythology of the Hindu creation story, while allowing him to exist in a parallel world.23 This newly Sanskritized Aiyanaar was given a new a name, Harihara Putra [Sanskrit: Hari (Vish'nu) and Hara (Siva); Putra (prince or son)] and is shown in the iconography with two consorts, Poora'nai and Pushkalai, holding in his hand either an elephant goad or horsewhip.

The terminus post quern of the Harihara Putra cult is 1224, the date a temple to the god was constructed by Narasimha II.24 The temple no longer exists, but more recent Harihara temples (known also as Sastha temples) do exist and are usually in forests (because the god's parents, accord ing to one story, abandoned him in a forest). This is in line with the older form of Aiyanar worship which was most often located not in the village proper but at its perimeter.

It has been suggested by Fred W. Clothey, a leading scholar of religious practices in India, that the creation of Harihara Putra was politically driven by the ruling elites as a way to offset friction that had developed between Vishnuites and Shavites.25 That explains, so Clothey suggests, why at least two Tamil kings assumed the name Harihara, tightening the bonds, as was often done, between king and god. What made this shift possible was Aiyanar's original position as someone who keeps peace and order. The transformation into Harihara Putra, however, substantially changed Aiyanar's identity since it introduced metaphysics into the equation. The Aiyanar cult did not begin as a metaphysical project, since its original mis sion was to produce and strengthen the inside/outside dual ity. Furthermore, though there are hundreds of Aiyanar shrines, each belonging to a particular village, there was no overarching moral message. But Aiyanar, already modern in the context of one historical framework, could become historicized (and modernized) yet again by drawing on the fact that he was more than just a divine policeman but the "chief" among the deities. In this new version, with his new name and new mythology, he could transcend the scale of the village and in the process obliterate the traditional and institutionalized "obviousness" of the Shiva/Vishnu distinction. He was a new unity rising above an old duality. This god was homegrown, but one cannot rule out the possibility that such a metaphysical postulation was not influenced from other religions, Buddhism included.

Manikantan /Ayyappan brings the genealogy of this deity back into the fold of human history. Because of his military training, Ayyappan has a quasi-military theme that is different from soldier-horseman Aiyanar. Whereas Aiyanar was worshiped by means of gifts and offerings, the Ayyappan cult requires forty-one days of sexual continence before the pilgrimage and a difficult hike to the hilltop sanctuary, among other acts of purification. Since menstruating women are not allowed to worship at the shrine, the cult has become akin to a cult of masculinity. This is unusual in Hindu India, where women are banned from temples only during the actual time of their menstruation. Here all women between the ages often and fifty-five are banned. For the Ayyappan pilgrimage, men do not travel to the site alone, however, but in small groups from their village or family unit--or perhaps today as a group of business associates --led by a guruswamywho guides them along the long mountain paths to the sanctuary.29 As one scholar has described it, the cult "merges individual men both with the hyper-masculine deity and with a wider community of men" embodied by the other male pilgrims and gurus.30 Unlike Aiyanar, whom one worshiped through outward signs of appreciation and with some trepidation, Ayyappan demanded that his devotees look inward. If Aiyanar worked his magic through fear, Ayyappan was a messenger of brotherly love. The horse has now disappeared. Ayyappan, in the myth, came into town riding a tiger, and so it is the tiger that figures into this imaginary.

This sixteenth-century update of the thirteenth-century cult took place in three ways. First, it was changed from a religion of the ruling elite to a popular, regional cult. Second, it was given the metaphysical conventions of corporeal deprivation and spiritual purification, which were typical of most religions of the time. And third, Ayyappan's reentry into human history was augmented by the fact that each of his gurus--which numbered then in the hundreds of thousands--was to be treated by his charges as an incarnation of Ayyappan himself. In other words, whereas Aiyanar could only go as far as the vil lage boundary, Ayyappan, in his multitudinousness, could move about anywhere. The subtext of Aiyanar's equestrian mobility is still there, but the deity is now released from imprisonment in the "local."31 If no one can "become" Aiyanar (except in the form of a possessed dancer during the village ceremony), any number of people --hundreds of thousands-- can "become" Ayyappan to weave themselves in an increasingly dense way into the fabric of contemporary history.

Arjun goes on a self-destructive path after the marriage of his girlfriend Preethi Shetty , the film focuses on his downfall and subsequent resurgence. It stars Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in the lead role. The director worked on the script for two years .It took around 4 to 5 years for the film to finally materialise. 5. 1: Nenokkadine

1: Nenokkadine is a Telugu psychological action-thriller film which was released in 2014 .It was written and directed by Sukumar. Nenokkadine revolves around the search by Gautham  for his parents, whom he believes were murdered by three men. Sameera is a journalist, she convinces him that he is an orphan and is hallucinating. When Gautham killed one of the imaginary men for his psychological satisfaction, he realises that the dead man is real and leaves for London to find his roots and the other two men behind his parents' death. The film features Mahesh Babu and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles.  It was Produced on a total budget of ₹700 million. It was released in 10 January 2014 on about 1,500 screens. Grossing over $1.27 million, Nenokkadine became the fourth-highest-grossing Telugu film in history at the United States box office. The film was made with a budget of ₹70 crore. The film then went on to won three awards from eight nominations at the 4th South Indian International Movie Awards, and two awards at the 11th CineMAA Awards.
