so basically hermie is doing some fuckass shit, poking fun at normal and his teeny obsession or quoting the joker or something. doing classic hermie things. maybe even flirting w scary (which is canon now??? god i need money to listen to sophomore slump)

and normal just grabs hermie by the jacket and pulls him (way) down and kisses him (bc in my mind hermie is a lot taller than short king normal and it’s adorable - my favorite oakworthy pose to draw is herm using norm as an armrest i literally eat that height difference dynamic for breakfast lunch and dinner)

and it’s like. objectively the most awkward kiss ever and god it’s not good. neither of them have done this before but i mean when the voices compel you… but anyway normal lets hermie go and hermie is just windows bluescreening and like. incapable of moving. and normals really giddy now like hehehe ive wanted to do that for so long and it finally shut you up! maybe that means im getting to you with this whole teeny thing!!

and hermies just like. “that wasn’t in the script.” (i have literally imagined him saying that in EVERY kiss scenario i dream up to fall asleep to) and his face is RED bro and normals face is RED bro and they’re both like really awkward about it, but later they’re just like yeah no that was kind of a long time coming. because they are the mutual pining trope to ME!!! but also they both completely freeze up at acts of affection and normal gets super giddy every time and hermie secretly really likes riling him about it and AAAAAHH ANTHONY WHY DK YOU HATE ME

Druidcraft, with Keyleth and either of the twins?

Look. You said "twins". You didn't specify which twins. So I'm doing both Leona and Wolfe.

It isn't often Keyleth babysits the twins. It's rare for something to call both Vex and Percy away, and for that to happen at a time when Pike or Cassandra can't take care of their kids or that doesn't require Keyleth's attendance too - but this is some diplomatic dinner over in Emon and she'd been visiting earlier in the day to see some of Percy's new work on the clocktower and it'd just ended up working out like this.

Vesper's old enough to be mostly trusted on her own - Keyleth can leave her with a book of Celestial and when she looks in an hour later the girl will be frowning down at it (looking just like Percy at that) as she tries to make the language make sense. It comes easier to her than her siblings, but not as easily as if she was a true aasimar, but she's absolutely determined to learn it.

Leona and Wolfe on the other hand are just set on causing trouble.

Downside of Vex's absence: no Trinket to herd them to bed. Upside of Keyleth's presence - she is fully capable of turning into a bear herself. It's been years since she's done this last - heck, it'd be back in Kraghammer wouldn't it, the fighting pit? - but she's familiar enough with Trinket it's easy.

What's harder is getting the twins settled. Keyleth is starting to empathise with the twins' - well, her twins', her friends, Vex and Vax's - mother by the time she finally gets them fully tucked into bed but then Leona snags her hand and looks up with big pleading eyes - always so open with her glasses set aside for sleep - and goes:

"Auntie Keyleth- bedtime story?"

Well- yeah she can do that. She's heard Vex and Percy jokingly argue over who tells bedtime stories best - Vex can do the most wonderful voices, but Percy reads with a steady evenness that soothes the children to sleep easily and Keyleth already knows she can beat them both as she pulls a book off the shelf.

"All right," she says, and pinches the fingers of one hand together as she opens the book to the right page. This is an easy bit of magic by now, and from her fingertips, fireflies spiral up, blinking in the dimness of the room. "Once upon a time, in a kingdom far, far away..."

So for those unaware, I am a forever DM lol. Usually I run an original story called The Elderly Scrolls set in Faerun kind of sort of but with some twists, then I run a Warcraft highschool AU, but much like Dimension 20, we take a break for a different campaign between school years. This time I'm doing a Baldur's Gate 3 game set 16 years after the events of the game with a magical girl twist (think Madoka type). Since I'm mostly a BG3 blog I thought I'd share some fun facts about the campaign here:

- The main NPC contact for the players is Wyll's fifteen year old daughter, Lady Alyce Ravengard. She is a pact of the arch fey warlock.

- The printing press from the "Stop the Presses" quest is her liason to her patrol.

- Malta and Tara act as the obligatory Luna and Artemis homage, guiding the heroes on their journey....and occasionally eating pigeons.

- One player chose to play an older Bhaalspawn who rejected Bhaal and is a dad type, he has a fatherly bond with another NPC, who is the daughter of Gortash and my Durge.

- Another player is a young Aasimar paladin who looks up to Dame Aylin and is currently being mentored by her after losing to her in an arm wrestling contest.

- The only player character who decided to play a typical teenage magical girl is a dragonborn druid who has a flirty thing going with Astarion's teenage son, the resident Tuxedo Mask/Pretear companion parody.

- The final player is a grown goblin woman who is a college of sword bard and grew up in the city during the events of the game and is also the only local, and thus the only one who actually 100% knows about all the past events.

-Rolan and his siblings are everyone's favorite NPCs so far.

-Somehow, Auntie Ethel returned.

this is disorganized but i am excited for u all to meet her :-)

terpsichore is shadowheart’s selûnite counterpart… memory wiped & sent out on a holy pilgrimage to moonrise towers where she was supposed to assassinate a powerful agent of shar. told she’d know her target when she saw them. wink!

compared to auntie: terpsichore is like. less selfless but more cunning which unfortunately does matter more when it comes to saving ppl so she may be responsible for less tragedy. i also feel like she’s sort of more of a fan companion than an authoritative protagonist so will work better with the rest of the party. instead of just making them complicit in atrocities & indulging their hubris by way of apology

i see terpsichore as explicitly NOT a cleric not just for party comp bc i want to play w shaddy but bc she was trained as a church spy for selûne not a priest or holy warrior. she’s more like a DA orlesian bard. entertainer, eavesdropper, assassin, vagabond. was brought up by a selûnite enclave and learned to sing and frolic in the moonlight but also pass thru secured areas like a moonbeam and kill and bat her big sweet goat eyes to get away with things.

i’m still workshopping her backstory which is ok bc she doesn’t remember most of it… but i think she witnessed some corruption in her enclave that caused her to break faith with selûne before getting roped back in. & her real target has always been balthazar.

selûne won’t confront shar directly or use force to break the shadow curse & free aylin but she’ll periodically inspire a lone pilgrim to try and fetch her daughter back. lest anyone accuse her of aasimar abandonment 💁‍♀️ the sacrifices pilgrims tend not to be the faithful she’s well pleased with.

if we’re villifying shar i wanna take selûne down with her. two sides of the same coin two aspects of the same power & equally painful to love

i KNOW she & shadowheart jump each other (homicidal) before they ever jump each other (homosexual). only stopped from killing each other by the tadpole connection which shows them each a flash of their own suppressed memory in the other’s mind. gets em off balance & curious enough to take their knives off each other’s throats at least until they get to moonrise where they’ll have their fated showdown & decide whose goddess wins. wink wink

terpsichore (rhymes with hickory for anyone else who had to double check 😉) doesn’t get divinely assigned an emo little warriorcats code name for her mission but shadowheart gives her 1. its mooncalf 🙄 no chance of that ever becoming a term of endearment right. right

but if one of terpsichore’s horns WERE to get damaged. in sayyy act 2 when she finally finds her mark. well karlach WOULD be excited to be matchies. & would also know from experience how to treat the wound 🥺

Wip Wednesday

Before the day ends, I'd like to join and share a little piece that I'm writing with @silversiren1101 blessing (and approval).

She knew every corner of that place by heart. Even with shutted eyes, she could tell what was going on there: the birds chirping, the water fountain running, the oldest cat complaining about anything. And that sound of feathers, along the muffled giggle, was very familiar.

Ekaterina felt little hands grabbing her skirt, and she heard a scare attempt, “Boo!”

The druid did her best acting, putting one hand over her heart. “Jesyll!”

The little girl laughed out loud. “Hi, auntie! I gotcha again, didn't I?”

“You always get it.” Ekaterina couldn't help but smile. She patted her head. “Hello, my dear. How are you doing?”

Jesyll hugged her legs. She adored how Auntie Kaya smelled like. It was like a fusion of a vegetable garden in summer and a pine forest. Herbs, flowers, juicy fruits.

Comfort scent.

“I came to help you.” The girl leaned her chin on the woman's leg. “What can I do?”

Ekaterina gave a half smile. She looked around; there was almost nothing more to do in that afternoon. But it would be impossible to change the mind of a ganzi-gnome child. Then she asked, “Alright, can you fetch me some water?”

“Yes, ma'am!” she happily agreed, darting through the greenhouse. The rustle of her tail always lured the stray kittens out of their feline dreams under the branches, making them run after her. Jesyll was used to that kind of buzz, and just laughed. When she had learned that it was a great way to bait them to pat them, she didn’t mind anymore about the occasional chase.

Ekaterina watched the scene, silently having fun, but also paying attention. She didn’t want anyone to get hurt in her greenhouse. And the vines, branches, playful kittens, many things there could leave a scar or two. Especially when you were small like… a gnome.

Jesyll got a bucket and filled it into the fountain. When she stopped and curled her tail, the kittens tried to nuzzle into it. She sighed, delighted with the scene, leaving the bucket on the stone edge for a while. One of the creatures had golden eyes like her, and his tail was halved. The girl pouted, thinking about what could have happened to him. She couldn’t imagine how to live without her tail, even without a tiny piece.

She loved tending to plants. Every time when she had the opportunity, Jesyll was on her Mama’s side in the gardens, taking care of roses and trying to make friends with insects. One time, she mistook wasps for honeybees, and it caused her to fall into her mother’s favorite rose bushes. She could swear that Papa’s eyes got brighter for a second when he heard about it later. And since then, everybody — mostly Auntie Kaya — kept all eyes on her when Jesyll was outside.

But for the aasimar’s relief, she came back safe and sound and with a bucket of water as requested.

For funsies, in no particular order, my potential BG*3 characters to try out before the full game:

Vessa: F LG Seldarine Drow Paladin (Oath of the Ancients). Her father is a wood elf and her mother was a Lloth-sworn drow who escaped the Underdark. Tries very hard to be Good(TM) but can be temperamental. Will probably fall hard for Wyll or Halsin; she likes the heroic types.

Skadi: F CN Mephistopheles Tiefling Warlock (Archfey, if that’s ever implemented). Hot mess but has a soft side. Made a deal with her patron to escape her life of crime in Sigil, only to get snatched up by mindflayers. Will romance Astarion, for good or ill.

Elluvia: F CN? NE? Half Elf (or Aasimar if that’s implemented) Bard. Terrible person tbh. Comes from a noble family full of paladins etc. and resents it. Beautiful but insecure, prone to jealousy and toxic behavior. Would probably romance Astarion in the hopes he could make her a vampire eventually.

Galad: M NE High Elf Druid. He’s supposed to be the son of my corrupted elven PC from Icewind Dale 2 and her horrible evil husband, Diriel. Diriel is part of the Eldreth Veluuthra, an elven organization whose mission is to eradicate humanity and “restore” nature (for themselves). With this elven supremacy crap in his background, Galad of course will fall embarrassingly hard for Shadowheart, even though his parents will probably disown him because she’s *gasp* a half elf. The drama.

Tavariel (so she can have Tav as a nickname lol): F CG High Elf Sorcerer (draconic bloodline of some kind). Daughter of my Bhaalspawn from BG1 and BG2 and Xan. Obsessed with magical knowledge. Weirdly combines her mother’s stubborn optimism with Xan’s fatalism. Is embarrassed about her tadpole predicament and doesn’t want her parents to know (maybe she will have to disguise herself so auntie Jaheira doesn’t find out?). Will romance Gale because she’s a shitty wizard simp.

I’d also like to make someone to romance Lazael at some point, and a sapphic lady for Shadowheart? Will see.

Do you think Shade Witch sees Erin’s face in the wood of Oakvale. No since they’re all the same, all the same bark patterns and lines which Erin always complained about. Skaoi could trace the trees wood in her sleep after she spent days tracing it, trying to engrave it in her memory. After days of her not hearing from Erin at the end of the world, the world was red and it cast blood red light on the trees and Skaoi’s hands and face. The same blood red of the flesh tomb she found Erin in, the same red of Erin’s blood that dripped onto the ground.

The sun finally lights up the sky, no longer dousing Skaoi in blood red, washing away her hands and face of the blood red, basking her in bright light. Her business was booming again and everything was well, the trees were still the same as ever but she could now see new trees in the horizon. All she could say when she met Erin was ‘Woah’ and now that’s all she could say looking up at the sky, blue instead of red and clouds speckling the sky like snow.

Erin sits in heaven, her witch hat dipped over her eyes, protecting her from the sun and so nobody could see her tears. ‘Woah’ she heard Shade Witch say, and she smiled.

I decided that the next chapter of my Étoile x Astarion fic that's been in limbo forever could use some more dialogue / context and that this is why it wasn't feeling right to me. So I'm thinking I'll include Étoile and Shadowheart discussing who they were travelling with before the nautiloid abduction and do my best to use that to give Astarion even more introspection, as I do, for comparison with Szarr family oc's and his siblings and whatever.

This meant giving myself more excuses for more oc's.

Étoile is 166 at the start of bg3 and has been in Baldur's Gate for 30 years. Presumably working in the Adventurer's Guild for much, if not all of that time.

Namanyla is my head of the Adventurer's Guild oc. She and Étoile don't / didn't interact much — she's got shit to do, nobles to petition, factions to moderate, but Étoile wasn't an entirely unknown asset / peer. She would know them to look at them, and their work on paper, if nothing else. I would place her around 462.

Satraphine is about 234 at the start of bg3, she's an archfey warlock and whether because of wanderlust, or because of being incidentally a fugitive for various reasons, or because of requests from her patron, she doesn't spend more than a few weeks at a time in Baldur's Gate, annually or every few years.

She is often, if not always, followed by her partner Jeanne-Thérèse whom she (and Étoile) met through the guild. Jeanne-Thérèse calls Namanyla Auntie and is generally very familiar with authority and the inner workings of the various guilds in the Sword Coast. She's an enchantment wizard and approximately 299 years old, so she says.

Sparrow makes up the last of the four-man party that was Étoile, Satraphine, Jeanne-Thérèse and himself at the time Étoile was taken by the nautiloid. He's the youngest by a large margin at 26 years old, a protector aasimar fighter. He had summoned his halo and wings in combat which would reveal his nature to his colleagues though he used to be able to pass for human as he did not have the facial markings previously, though between Étoile's abduction and their reunion in act 3 bg3 there's been An Incident with his brother so that now the facial markings are also present during combat.

Sparrow's partner, Lyde (lie-dee), 24, has been a frequent presence at the guild hall since she and Sparrow arrived in town on rumors of his missing twin brother. She makes tea and performs tarot tarokka readings, and gossips up a storm. She worries loudly and loves big and can be a comforting presence to newer adventurers or anyone who's had a hard day.

Corrupted by forces unknown, Sparrow's twin brother Harrier is a fallen aasimar vengeance paladin who is motivated to power and violence for "the greater good." I was playing with the idea of killing him, but instead Sparrow can power-of-friendship him back into society 2+ years post-canon.

Eleonora, 29, is even more naive than Harrier and follows / loves him Despite The Warning Signs. She is based on two characters from something but I'm embarrassed to make it any more obvious than it might be at first glance.

Zoltan, 47, is a receptionist / clerk for the guild. The guy handing out the jobs.

I was struggling previously with the observation that the Chosen Three turned who they needed and exactly who they meant to, with Wyll and Karlach being surprises in Avernus, with many being numbers in Baldur's Gate and at Moonrise, and with Gale, Ulder and Minthara as examples of those being specifically selected. Because I could not conceive of a reason I liked for Étoile to be in their radar. But like this, I think Sparrow would stand out and would have been the nautiloid's target at the start of Étoile's journey.

They were setting camp near a quest objective to be ready for whatever it was that was worth Jeanne-Thérèse's (level 13) time, when late in the night Sparrow (level 6) was out reflecting on his brother and Étoile (level 8) rushed their shield to defend him from an unexpected sky tentacle and is magicked away. Leaving Jeanne-Thérèse with Sparrow and Satraphine (level 8) to make the hard reactionary decision to Teleport them away. It does not go well.

Off Target: You and your group (or the target object) appear a random distance away from the destination in a random direction. Distance off target is 1d10 x 1d10 percent of the distance that was to be travelled. For example, if you tried to travel 120 miles, landed off target, and rolled a 5 and 3 on the two d10s, then you would be off target by 15 percent, or 18 miles. The DM determines the direction off target randomly by rolling a d8 and designating 1 as north, 2 as north-east, 3 as east, and so on around the points of the compass. If you were teleporting to a coastal city and wound up 18 miles out at sea, you could be in trouble.

But it does save them from ceremorphosis the bg3 adventure (sad).

I made Satraphine a warlock entirely because her chest looks amazing in this outfit.

The first time Vex saw her daughter’s wings, she was six years old. Vesper was running down the steps of the back porch when her foot caught on the ledge and she stumbled forward. Vesper shrieked, summoning her mother from inside just in time to see her catch her fall with two fluffy, white wings. Vex gasped softly as Vesper landed on the soft grass, wings folding behind her.

“Darling!” Vex rushed towards her daughter with wide eyes. “Are you alright?”

Vesper turned to her with a wide grin, “Mama, I’m magic!” Her wings fluffed up happily behind her.

Vex smiles fondly, “So you are, darling.” She and Percy first suspected Vesper was an aasimar when her brown baby hair started to turn white. “Do you know why?” Vesper shook her head with bright eyes and looked at her mother eagerly. “Because you were itty bitty inside me when Pelor gave me his blessing. And his blessing passed to you.”

Vesper grinned and turned her head to the sky, squinting in the sunlight, “Thank you!” She called up to the sky.

Vex smiled warmly as Vesper’s wings disappeared with a pop of magic.

After that, it was not uncommon to find Vesper napping with her wings wrapped around herself. When she gets super excited, they poof out of their own volition, sometimes knocking things over beside her. And since the discovery of her wings, Vesper had been begging to learn how to fly. Both her parents were understandably nervous about that, but when she turned eight, they finally allowed her to start learning.

Both of her parents, including her two new baby siblings, in addition to her Auntie Kiki. Percy and Vex sit down on the grass, each holding one of the babbling twin babies. Keyleth crouches down in front of her niece, “You ready to try it? Remember, you only have a minute.”

Vesper, who had previously been excited by the idea, now looks anxious. “What if I fall?”

Vex smiles and touches her daughter’s cheek, “That’s why Keyleth is here. She can do so many cool things and she’ll catch you if you fall.”

Strengthened by her mother, Vesper nods and closes her eyes. Her fluffy wings poof out and start flapping, stirring the grass around her. She starts to float a little, toes just brushing the top of the grass. Vex reaches over and takes Percy’s hand, squeezing far too tight as Vesper reaches a foot above the grass.

Vesper opens her eyes and gasps, looking at her parents with excitement. She starts to list to the side, before Keyleth can even reach out, a jet black raven darts out from one of the trees and knocks her in the right direction. Vesper’s eyes widen, “Uncle Vax!”

The raven squawks at her and then flies off. Vex’s eyes fill with tears and she sees that Keyleth is much the same.

In the years that follow, Vesper learns to fly, always accompanied by at least one raven that steadies her when she starts to lose her balance and offers her reassurance. Vex often looks out her window to see her daughter flying through the sky, at least three ravens flitting around her. She smiles sadly, thinking of the first time Vax took flight.

She jumps as there's a tap on her window, Vesper is on the other side, smiling at her, a raven perched on her shoulder. Vex waves, Vesper returning it, then Vex gestures to the ground with a pointed look, reminding her daughter to get to the ground before her wings disappear.

Vesper rolls her eyes but does as her mother asks, flitting down to the ground. Vex watches her proudly as Vesper scratches one of the ravens before shoving it off of her. The raven squawks and playfully snaps at her braid of white hair before flapping away.

anyway yeah that was the boss fight of this first arc of yeehaw campaign i tricked my players into thinking they were fighting the archfiend zariel but in reality it was just her Silly Little Simulacrum (using modified Horned Devil stats) because she could NOT be bothered to go to the material plane herself.

though she is having one HELL of an existential crisis after that encounter and does not know what to do about the fact that ?? she might have a niece ??
