Are there any writers whose influence you recognise in your style?

Hmmm... This is quite tricky. I can say for sure that growing up with influences like C.S. Lewis and Enid Blyton really helped develop my tastes for good adventures, a sense of mystery and my fascination with character relations. I'm glad that I read so much as a kid and was able to pick 'good' stuff to read, as I'm certain my YA Dystopia phase as a teen contributes to my writing too. I'm trying to read more when I can, but honestly I think I'm influenced by things outside of strictly narrative writing too... Other mediums like film and visual art have directly affected the way I want to choose my words while setting a scene, and that in turn affects the way I write screenplays and such too!

But ultimately... My style is me. I am very particular about everything (and although I try not to, I get stuck in perfectionist loops) and I'm sure there's some distinct feeling about my writing, cause I can feel it when I'm reading back on my old works...

I've got a completely original story called Abe and Orc that I'm hoping to turn into a web comic, and I've been steadily working on developing the world and it's plot for the past year and a bit. I absolutely love my characters and it's an interesting change of pace to have complete control over everyone (as opposed to fanfic, where you still have control ig but there are certain restrictions and loop holes when using someone else's character lol), but I'm absolutely FASCINATED with the world I'm cooking up here. Which is good, cause the whole story is about exploring that world, and it'd suck if it was kinda boring. I've been working to try and create a fantasy world that both feels familiar in the mundane, yet curious in other ways that are new to the reader (and by extention, Orc) while also being just as mundane. It's just a big road trip type story as Abe and Orc travel and stay in different districts to work and learn about stuff on their days off 😏

Uhhhh... I haven't really thought about what he'd read in his down time for this au, as he's always nose deep in his textbooks lol.

Also I'm not quite sure what the second half of the question means, so I'm assuming it's asking if he's aware that he's in a text (the au, in this case) how he'd react. And for that... I'm sure he'd be fine. It's a very low stakes slice of life au so I think he'd enjoy the drama and small moments, and be pretty happy that he's got a hot bf lol

💭 If Harland went to the world of one of your other WIPs (Abe and Orc) how would he react to the environment? Would he like the other cast?

WELL. I think Harland would do just fine in the world of Abe and Orc, as he'd probably end up doing similar stuff to his canon iteration. Because there's not an active war going on in a&o the same way there is in Harlands canon, his family would still be fully in tact too! He'd probably just spend his days working for his dad and uncle, I dunno whether he'd be in the farming or trade district, but it'd be one of those two.

As for how he'd react to Abe and Orc themselves... I think he'd definitely like Orc, especially once he understands that he's basically a big teddy bear who's just really interested in everything. Abe is a lot more standoffish and sometimes ruder than he intends to be, and I'm thinking especially if they meet in the farming or trade district, Abe is still early days in his character development so they might get off to a rocky start- but Abe's a hard worker and does his best to stand up for Orc (in a round about way) so I'm sure Harland would eventually see his true intentions aren't so bad and maybe they'd even have a nice conversation or two together. Who knows.
