Cows are so fun. I don’t own cows, I’ve never lived on a farm.

But I have lived in a place where the garden meets a cow field.

Things we have found:

If you start tossing cut grass or leaves over the fence and say ‘Yum Yum!’, there’s always one of the pasture puppies who’s amenable to learning. And when the other cows see her perk up and sprint off to the hedge, they’ll follow.

Cows are happy to run if there’s something nice they want.

Cows will naturally all come and stare at something new. This is predator inspection behaviour. It’s why they come to look at you if you stand there singing or playing accordion.

It takes one cow who’s brave enough or casual enough about people to lean in and take a handful of comfrey for the rest to designate you as a friendly

Cows recognise you.

Cows are also willing to stand there and yell at you if you’re gardening to remind you that all that lush grass and stuff is y’know food.

If you stand in the field and ignore them, eventually one will lick you in case you’re salty. This is somehow a surprise. It’s even more of a surprise if you’re gardening and there’s a hole in the hedge that they know about, but you don’t know about.

If it’s summer, cows are surprisingly OK with being watered from a watering can.

Bored cows love playing with things that move. Like if you had a weather vane on the wall. And you find the cows are spinning it with their tongues.

If you have floor to ceiling windows that face the field, they will come and watch you watching TV.

While it’s never a good idea to walk into a field, because one of the cows might be a Bull, and their entire thing is being horny meat torpedoes… Some bulls are actually surprisingly mellow.

And have a good sense of humor.

Also never try pushing a bull out of the way in his own field (Because you were playing with your metal detector and didn’t realise the big wet nose that keeps sliding under your arm is not a young heiffer). It’s rude! Also the bull may decide that a game of Shove is really fun, and he’s a lot bigger than you. Alternatively, while that may be a brief and terrifying moment for you, I assure you everyone who’s watching is very entertained.

Watching an on-going disagreement between a fence builder and a bull who is channelling Bugs Bunny is extremely entertaining.

If you let your tree grow for shade n’ shelter, the cows will be very grateful, but will still yell at you for not throwing food at them.

Random Facts: The Protaganist

Apartment Tour, Part 2:

Okay, let's get into the floorplan. Because there are some major in-game details of her apartment that conflict with each other upon a closer inspection. The areas that have conflicting details will be marked "Inconsistent". The ones that do not will be marked "Consistent".

"Main Story" Floorplan: Consistent

Throughout the main story, we get various shots of the protaganist's apartment. The layout shown for the entryway, kitchen, and living room remained consistent in both the main story and Xavier's "Night of Warmth" memory. So no issues there. From those sources, here's my theorized floorplan for those areas:

The area marked in yellow hasn't been shown, so it remains a mystery. But this floorplan was constructed from the following in-game shots:

Bedroom: Inconsistent

"Main Story" Bedroom:

From chapter 1 of the main story onward, we are given the following shots of the protaganist's bedroom:

Building from those shots, we have the following theorized floorplan:

"Night of Warmth" Bedroom:

Here's where it gets weird. In Xavier's "Night of Warmth" memory, we get a view of the bedroom from the opposite wall. At first, not much is out of place. But as the view pans to the left, we're shown an adjacent hallway instead of a floor-to-ceiling window. Here are all the differences I spotted:

Fuzzy Rug: The fuzzy rug has both moved closer to the bed and also has expanded in length

Additional Rug: There's now a large, gray rug that covers a majority of the floor. This rug was absent from the "Main Story" bedroom depiction.

Floor-To-Ceiling Window: The floor-to-ceiling window shown in the main story (the one the protagonist sees the glowing red eye from) has been removed.

New Hallway: In place of the "Main Story" bedroom window, there is now an adjacent hallway

Clothing Rack: The freestanding clothing rack was originally placed beside the pink chair. But now, it has moved to just around the corner from the adjacent hallway.

Window?: While the "Main Story" bedroom window has been replaced, you can see what look like window blinds in the background of the area just past the adjacent hall.

So, here's the "Night of Warmth" theorized floorplan that reflects all of those differences:

The Balcony: Consistent

From the balcony, the "Night of Warmth" memory shows an unobstructed view of the city skyline. Behind Xavier, we can see the glass sliding door to the balcony. Through the glass, we see a glimpse of a white accordion lamp.

Because of the accordion lamp, I had initially thought the balcony could potentially be connected to the bedroom via the "Main Story" floor-to-ceiling window. But upon closer inspection, the "Main Story" window view shows residential-style buildings and not the city skyline shown from the balcony.

While I'm unsure exactly where it connects to the apartment, I've found no evidence of any conflicting details thus far. Here's the theorized balcony floorplan I constructed:

I might actually do a Part 3 post. I want to discuss the implications of all these windows, because they're really bugging me lol. But until then, I'd like to personally invite you to join me in ✨️ confused screaming ✨️

Koopaling Headcanons: Iggy

Larry | Morton | Wendy | Iggy | Roy | Lemmy | Ludwig

The wild child, the mad lad, the resident scientist himself! I think about him a regular amount.

Left-handed.

His powers are more plant-based, and he's very good at controlling them, but inventing is a big hobby of his that plays into how he attacks. To put it in other terms, he's got Artificer software running on Druid hardware.

His eye color is a rare mutation of his draconic koopa biology, though it does give him some issues with his vision, hence the glasses.

He's definitely wacky, but he's not actually ‘demented’ or ‘insane’ like most think he is. That being said, he likes to play up the whole ‘mad scientist' act around other people because he enjoys their reactions. Maybe a little too much…

April Fool's is a banned celebration in the castle because of him. Not that it stops him from pulling pranks on any other day of the year.

His favorite fruits are more tropical things; kiwis, pineapples, and starfruit.

Prefers Chain Chomps and other animals to people, as he's not great with conversation nor predicting people. Rumor has it that he can actually speak with them, but whether it's true remains to be seen.

He occasionally gets nonverbal when an experiment goes awry, or when he’s so upset he can’t find the words for it. His siblings check in on him every once in a while, and he does end up speaking again after a few hours / a day.

His hair naturally falls into a mohawk like in his earlier depictions; he just likes styling it back to differentiate himself from Lemmy.

Doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, but he's a big fan of savory things. That said, he does have a fondness for carrot cake.

He actually made his glasses when he realized his eyes didn’t see well with traditional lenses… and because he needed something that was fireproof, blast-proof, and freeze-proof, just to name a few. When he realized he could market it on a professional basis, Iggy’s Glass was created.

He's a big fan of his veggies! He's not a strict vegetarian, nor is he opposed to meat whatsoever, he just likes his greens more. Like I said, Druid hardware.

Speaking of food, if he's craving something, he often decides what to have not by flavor, but by texture. He looooves crunchy stuff or things he can rip into, like sandwiches with hard bread or jerky sticks.

He helps Wendy with her baking hobby! Baking is just another form of chemistry, after all, and he likes having something to do with his hands. He doesn't like cooking much, though. Too much guesswork.

He makes so many things for his siblings for holidays and birthdays, and is always touchingly surprised if they get him something personal or practical (not that he shows it).

He got Morton a camera for his tenth birthday to support his scrapbooking hobby, and is secretly very pleased that Morton takes such good care of it. He also denies crying when Morton showed him the page he made of the two of them with the photos he took.

His handwriting is the worst out of the seven. Given how fast he needs to write to keep up with his experiments, and his habit of using short phrases that only he understands, it's really legible to just him.

He genuinely is pretty funny. His humor is skewed towards shitposter memes thanks to Roy and Larry, but his sense of comedic timing to drop a bomb or punchline is perfect.

Will respond to highly cursed memes and images along the lines of "Oh, that's AWFUL. I LOVE IT."

His currency is amusement. You wanna get on his good side or impress him, making him laugh. This is harder then it sounds; if he can tell you’re trying too hard, he’ll just blast you with sarcasm.

Ludwig is teaching him how to play the accordion. It’s just as chaotic as it sounds.

He's a big fan of bad B-movie horrors, making fun of them while also unironically enjoying how terrible they are. He's got a few posters of them in his room.

He was the dog version of a warrior cats kid. I'm sorry, but it's true.

He likes to collect bugs! It's not a very big collection, seeing as the Darklands is uninhabitable by a majority of insects, but he likes learning and talking about them to anyone interested.

One of the most terrifying generals out of the Koopalings to the troops; not because he’s especially mean or strict or anything, but because you’ll have no idea how he’ll react to something. He is, however, perhaps also one of the the least military-inclined out of his siblings, much preferring his lab to a war room.

Will wear the UGLIEST shirts with zero concerns. Will also wear socks and sandals. Wendy loathes him.

Doesn't like coffee; the taste makes him nauseous. He's more of a soda guy, anyway.

He and Larry are huge sci-fi nerds, and enjoy bonding over comics and mecha anime and going to cons together. Also a big fan of horror; the more gore, the better.

Cannot draw people for shit. Animals and plants he can do okay at, but more in an anatomical kind of way then any artistic sort of style. Blueprints, however, are a different story.

Genuinely likes pistachio ice cream. None of his siblings know why, nor do they want to know.

Like Lemmy, he's very much a fan of pulling a prank and doing the "ohhhh I'm just a little guy, and it's my birthday, I'm a lil birthday boooy" routine. Unlike Lemmy, this rarely works for him.

His lab is his safe haven; it may be a mess in some places, but it's his mess. If you touch something you shouldn't, be prepared to get whacked.

Can and will pick up bugs and eat them. Bonus if they’re dipped in chocolate.

He doesn’t have any particular favorite flowers, but he's got a side hobby of cross-breeding and mutating plants for both science and in the sense of, in his own terms, “fucking around and finding out.”

I have string-lights strung up around the perimeter of my room and at every 4 feet, a command hook, bearing the fishing wire weight. And each command hook is a sticky wall piece and a sticky hook piece, like for hanging coats, but not that strong.

And in one window I have an A/C unit because it's 90 degrees here, sometimes, and my room is on the third floor, sometimes, and so it's 90 degrees in here, sometimes, so the window A/C. Now with window A/Cs it's these accordion flaps, they're plastic, that stretch across both sides of the (window) A/C like a bath towel you've held up but haven't wrapped around yourself yet (maybe because it's 90 degrees and you're hot and being wet is nice).

Now with the accordion flaps, the thing is, they're not perfect and there are little gaps at the top, because they're zigzag and no window sash is zigzag. The thing with gaps is, they let some bugs in, not too many but a few, who like the lamplight.

Now the thing with bugs is, sometimes they're ladybugs. Which are perfectly nice little bugs to have but the thing is, with ladybugs, is they like the command hooks.

Specifically they like the little nook at the center of each hook where the sticky back wall tape surface is exposed. At first I worried this was an ant-trap situation with an unwitting ladybug plaster-sealed to my command hook (with the lights) but it seems she can move freely.

And now the thing with the ladybugs is there is not just one. There's 4 of her, at least, and they've all taken up residence on adjacent command hooks (4 feet apart) like townhouse neighbors, but with more space between them (4 feet). So I look up and there are 4 ladybugs nestled in the nooks of 4 adjacent command hooks holding my lights, and this was very confusing for me to stare up at and figure out (bad vision) but I've realized it's 4 ladybugs, and they just like it up there, I guess, and they like being neighbors because they could have spread out (10 total command hooks) but they didn't.

One will leave sometimes to hang out on the curtains but she always comes back to the command hook, and I hope they all like it up there because they're much too tall for me to reach. Because the thing with me is I'm short and all the way down here (set up lights with a borrowed ladder) so I can't really be anywhere else but down here and I can't be up there with the command hooks (with the lights) to intervene. So really, in the situation, I can only simply hope the ladybugs are having a nice time.

Spinarak: it's got very creacher yet head empty eyes to me. Which is cute. And the false face on its abdomen is fun. I like to imagine it can change with either intentions or to resemble maybe other pokemon in the environment? I wanna gib it a kiss but it has a spike :( I kinda wish it didn't or matched its scheme a bit more but that was the trend for its generation sadly

Skorupi: I love the little accordion looking tail and weird eyes! Also a good bug so it gets the -holds gently-. It's got such a weird >:3 face to me so I support it in its schemes

its MY tumblr blog and i get to painstakingly write out an animatic i'll never make. SO ive got a heaven official's blessing piano man animatic in mind and i just can't shake it

ages ago i was listening and came up with this stupid concept just for the sake of funniness where i was imagining it as xie lian singing, mu qing and feng xin passive-aggressively going back and forth at each other with piano and harmonica respectively, hua cheng backing xl with the accordion, and shi qingxuan playing the lyre/mandolin in the background. and that was it for the longest time and was just a joke. but then i listened again and now have accidentally associated the lines with everyone

'he says 'son can you play me a memory? i'm not really sure how it goes, but it's sad and it's sweet and i knew it complete, when i wore a younger man's clothes''-- this is fairly nebulous because i don't know enough about him (sorry!) but this just makes me think of mei nianqing.

'now john at the bar is a friend of mine, who gets me my drinks for free, and he's quick with a joke or to light up your smoke, but there's someplace that he'd rather be'-- shi qingxuan. their whole feeling of lost potential. 'he says 'bill i believe this is killing me', as the smile ran away from his face, 'well i'm sure that i could be a movie star, if i could get out of this place'' once again. you're there and you have a role and youre good at your role. but can't shake the feeling that you could do so much more.

'now paul is a real estate novelist who never had time for a wife, and he's talking with davey who's still in the navy, and probably will be for life'-- this may be a little bit gauche but pei ming and shi wudu. pei ming's fuckboy reputation which may or may not be a front for just not having enough energy to give to one person. and the navy -> sea association aside, spending time with the other person there who can't commit. and they both definitely fucked but regardless of that this brings us onto

'and the waitress is practising politics as the businessmen slowly get stoned, yes they're sharing a drink they call loneliness, but it's better than drinking alone'-- ling wen. reduced to serving the other gods despite being more than capable (or perhaps because she's more than capable) intellectually. finding escapism from this place she's put in through others who are similarly disregarded in a sense based on reputation. the three tumours as three people who bonded initially only out of having nobody else really to turn to.

'it's a pretty good crowd for a saturday, and the manager gives me a smile, cause he knows that it's me they've been coming to see to forget about life for a while'-- jun wu, and how xie lian is such an emblematic figure for better or worse, representing everything idealistic and perfect about the heavens, and in the end being such a figurehead (and, when needed, an easy punching bag) that everything wrong with his heavens goes unnoticed for so long.

'and the piano, it sounds like a carnival, and the microphone smells like beer, and they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar and say 'man, what are you doing here?''-- hua cheng, watching and waiting for him the whole time. giving xie lian support and sustenance in everything he does for the heavens, and never telling him to leave, but wondering the whole time why he does all this for a system that doesn't deserve him. loving him enough to let him live by his own choices, but loving him too much to not be eaten up by watching him do this and receive nothing in response.

this is by no means perfect nor the best character analysis/song application. and it does bug me that nothing stood out to me to be right for mu qing and feng xin (i think about the xianle quartet a lot.) but i had such a vivid feel for everyone i mentioned here that they didn't feel right for the song. anyway if you've read all of this i love you and please talk to me about tgcf
