Aventurine is quiet as he stands on one of the lower balconies in Golden Hour, overlooking the streets below, bustling and filled with people.

The gambler supposes Golden Hour may be his favourite dreamscape in Penacony, as many others would agree. It feels warm here, and the abundant festivities almost always find a way to distract the blonde from whatever is troubling his thoughts.

Almost. Almost, because dreams are meant for the lucky few who have the luxury of being able to escape reality. Although Aventurine would argue himself lucky indeed, such a trivial luxury is unfortunately not one he has the possibility of partaking in.

Even in a place like Golden Hour, the gambler can never escape what he truly is, nor the past that haunts him. He will never be simply “Aventurine”, for erasing a part of oneself is quite a difficult task indeed.

His eyes skate across the scenery in a meek attempt to distract himself, to allow himself to get swept away by the hustle and bustle of the place, to lose himself in the music and parties and neon lights.

His gaze rests on a young couple of women, one about a foot shorter than the other. The taller one must make some sort of joke, because the shorter woman’s face twists up into a smile and Aventurine swears he can hear the echo of soft laughter.

He can’t explain the feeling he gets while he watches the couple, the shorter woman pulling in the other for a kiss, and he would chastise himself for intruding on such a private moment— but the pull of pure joy emanating from the couple is far too tempting.

The taller woman pulls the shorter woman into her arms, and they stand together, swaying softly from side to side.

Something about the gesture makes Aventurine’s breath hitch, and his chest constrict. He looks away immediately, fixing his eyes on the slot machines not much further away.

The gambler can’t help but reassure himself that he must be familiar with the gesture, and that it must remind him of someone… but in the end, it seems to be quite the opposite.

As much as the blonde would love to say that he can relate to the feeling of pure, unadulterated love shared between two people, just as the two women share bliss in each other’s company, the truth would be far from the illusion.

It’s been so long since Aventurine has last been held that the memory of such a sensation has long since faded away… but he yearns for it nonetheless, wants so badly—

There’s a hole in Aventurine’s heart, and the grand spectacles in Golden Hour and endless thrills of Penacony can only do so much to fill it.

We shall meet again, under Kakava's shimmering auroras...

"Do stay alive"? Mmm... well, who am I to even dare defying the doctor's orders~?

Kakavasha had been fated to die, ever since he was born on the day of one of the very sparse rains in Sigonia-IV. Blessed with Gaiathra's rain, a lucky child, they said-- and in the end, it was luck of the double-edged sword.

Aventurine, the Stoneheart of Stratagems, had indeed been lucky enough to still be standing after all that he'd been through-- but why has he lived time and time again? Should he not be grateful? And yet he found he never was; for Kakavasha wished to die. Why should he live only to endure more suffering when he could finally find eternal peace?

And when that fated day finally came-- his grand bet, his all in, his final gambit, the most wondrous of performances-- he found himself here.

Not alive, yet not dead, having long since parted with his past self, standing alone in a void of Nihility clutching only the scroll Dr. Veritas Ratio had given him. That Galaxy Ranger had told him that this fated incident was not his end-- that he would live to bet even higher than before. A saving grace, truly-- an angel in the skin of an Emanator.

Maybe this darkness was beautiful, he thought. The stars twinkling in the dark almost reminded him of home; a dimly sparkling reminder that he would see the dawn after all, that there would finally be light waiting for him.

And so he waited, preparing for the day of his rebirth. He would chase his dawn in the form of the golden and crimson-hued irises of the man who has always had his heart, take back his name and avenge the legacy of all Avgins, and see to the destruction of the IPC once and for all.

This Aventurine is canon divergent, simply an idea of what happens to him if and when he survives the Nihility void :)

My Aven takes back his true name and turns to the path of Nihility, and finds his way out in about a year or so after his disappearance. He's finally free from the IPC as they believe him to be dead and Jade has taken his place as the Stoneheart of Preservation, and his goal is to bring the IPC's shady secrets to light and bring the whole organization crashing down.

He still fights with his dice and poker chips, although losing the ability to shield because of his path diversion and instead casting ace cards onto enemies.

(I might add more details later, or link a headcanon post!)

Hey! It’s Asexual Awareness week this week, so I was wondering do you know of any Spade ♠️ variations on card print to put together an Ace themed Cord? Or how how you would go about constructing one?

My ace self has been so stinking excited to answer this question since I first saw it. Also, thanks for the reminder that we’re visible during the Ace week of visibility, and to plan all bank heists next week instead.

So, ace pride ace of spades coordinate? For the romantic asexuals, this could pretty easily be morphed into an ace of hearts coordinate, though you’d probably have to add more red.

So, first of all, I know that if I, personally, am doing an ace of spades coordinate, I’m going to do black-x-white, and I’m going to use this headbow:

Because I actually own that headbow and I never get a good chance to wear it. It’s BTSSB’s trump Lace Bow, and it did come in red, too.

So, since I’ve shoehorned my difficult-to-coord Burando item into this coordinate, we get a look at the most difficult part of making a spades-themed coordinate: how do you stop it from being a cards-themed coordinate? Card suits are a common lolita theme, but finding pieces that are just the one suit will be hard.

However, looking at some card-suit inspired Brand shows us that, as far as custom textiles go, spades are a pretty easy motif to DIY.

The simplest way I can think to pull that off would be to do a simple white skirt, and apply the spade with black fabric paint and a stencil. You could also applique it on, if you’re feeling fancy.

If I was going to stay in simple terms, I’d do my black headbow and white skirt, put the skirt over a purple underskirt or tights, and a gray blouse, and see if I can color block out the flag:

If the color-blocking thing doesn’t work, and it might not, I’d probably go for doing a slightly more complex skirt, because it’s easier for me personally to sew a skirt than it is to find a better gray blouse.

So, I would probably make this skirt:

I didn’t have a gray marker, so let me explain what’s going on here:

This is the good ol’ faking a border print technique. The top part of the skirt, indicated by wobbly green lines, is a gray color, and the bottom half is white. The spades would either be stenciled or applique’d on, and have a heavy black outline. I think stenciling them so that the color bands have fuzzy edges and blend would look really cool.

Your gray and black backing fabrics could be solid, or could have small prints or textures. My current favorite gray print at the joann for this would be item #15582224, aspirin dot gray:

At the bottom is either a line or purple lace or a short-ish purple chiffon ruffle. I’d probably do a ruffle only because purple lace is annoying to find.

Putting the purple in the spades as part of the “print” allows you to put purple in the bottom half of your coord, were the purple in our flag is, without it coming out of nowhere. Putting the black border around the spades (I’d probably satin stitch it on with my machine to add some cool texture. You could also paint it on, or do some hand embroidery.) works more black into the print, which lets you pair this gray/white skirt with a black blouse. Again, this lets you put black in your coord up at the top, without you having to go HELLO I AM A FLAG in how you wear it.

This isn’t like an ORIGINAL OC DO NOT STEAL kind of skirt. Absolutely use this design if you want, because I probably won’t ever make it.

Other than that, I’d try to accessorize with things that matched in color, motif, or spirit. If you’ve got a skirt that’s very aggressively spades, you can wear other card suits items and have them support the theme without taking from it. Since the headbow feels very old school, I’d probably coordinate this with that in mind. However, if you’re doing something different with your head, you could take this in another direction. If you’re going to a pride parade in this, you could get away with your Awesome Ace Pride Sweatbands, but if you’re going to a tea party you’d probably want some wrist cuffs instead. This is the part where you breathe your own life into a coordinate, so your judgement will be the thing that needs to guide you.

Sorry that this was long, and sorry that you asked for coordinate advice and I said JUST MAKE A NEW THING!!!, but that’s kind of just how I am, I guess? I wish I could turn this into a good tutorial or something, but instead you just got this. Sorry for the long post.

I've been called pretty many, many times, much like the stone I share my name with. I suppose it's true, I do seem to be blessed with good looks... but aventurine stones also have a sharp edge, and that's something you'd be better off remembering.

I'm not afraid to place bets on things that I want, and you'll often find that when I bet on something, I'm not usually wrong. Blessed by luck, blessed by fate-- I've heard it all, but I like to think that in someway, this skill, these wins, are all mine because I've earned them.
