"i haven't stopped loving you once"
also written for day 25 of november for @wolfstarmicrofic with the prompt "fireplace"
501 words
Sirius and James were inseparable, even after the both of them being long married to the other love of their lives and living hundreds of miles apart for many years. They were best friends with an inseparable bond between them that nothing, nothing, could come between.
James and Regulus had finally moved back to London after living in Amsterdam for a few years before they decided that London was where home was. They had a housewarming party many hours ago, with the gang all back. Most everyone had left around an hour ago, but the four of them- Sirius and Remus, along with Regulus and James- were left.
They were reminiscing on their “good ol’ days” in Hogwarts, where they were just a bunch of horny little boys that had stupid little crushes on their to-be future husbands.
Sitting around the fireplace, James laughed, the sound deep and filled with heart. “No, no, you can’t say anything about my pining over Reggie when you came to me one day saying, ‘I want to be broken.’” He grins wickedly at Sirius before continuing. “And, I was like, lad, you already are.”
Sirius laughs, “that’s right, I had torn my ACL earlier that month during our quidditch match.” He nods.
“So anyways I go: Physically? Mate you already are.” Remus chuckles, because he's pretty sure he knows where this is going. Sirius shakes his head, a little embarrassed for this to get out, but what are friends for if not to embarrass you?
Taking a sip of his firewhiskey, James continues his story. “Sirius laughs after I say that, but he makes a grave face as he says completely serious that he would rather be broken, like, mentally, you know broken apart and then put back together.”
“By Remus of course,” Sirius tacks on, leaning to his left and kissing Remus chastely. Remus’s face goes all red. Regulus adds in, nodding, as if agreeing that he wouldn't have minded that either.
“Anyways, he’s like, ‘I want someone to degrade me’ and at the same time ‘I want someone to call me a good boy,” James takes another sip, “I stood there, all like “Ok mate. I shrugged, not knowing what to say to him because I felt the same way. I ended up agreeing with him, because Merlin, what I wouldn't have done back then for Reg to take me apart.”
Sirius makes a face, but they all laugh, because they know that the little Black brother was a hot commodity at Hogwarts. Lucky James for being the winner of the prize.
Sirius laughs at his former self, wondering what his past self would have done if he knew that it would have happened and more in his years to come. Remus leans over and whispers in his ear in that sultry voice of his. “Well, I’m sure you're very happy with yourself for making that wish come true.”
He smiles warmly, “I am Moons,” he looks into his lover's eyes, “I am.”

Dade City's Heritage and Cultural Museum Moves to the Spoke Building Temporarily
Tumblr media
The Dade City Heritage and Cultural Museum was begun in 2018 by Joy Lynn and family at the old Atlantic Coastline Railroad depot in eastern Dade City, which is on the US National Register of Historic Places.  This community museum has temporarily moved some of its exhibits to "The Spoke" community center at the corner of Church Street and the Hardy Trail. It will be staffed during the summer by Museum volunteers from 10 am to 2 pm Tuesday through Saturday.  The Heritage and Cultural Museum was Begun in The Depot Through efforts by the City and its residents, the Depot was transformed into the Dade City Heritage and Cultural Museum in 2018, where it now houses artifacts, photographs, documents, and records of historic places and longtime residents of Dade City.   Dade City's Train Depot, beautifully restored, and now the Cultural and Heritage Museum. Image by Diane Bedard. According to the Tampa Bay Times, the Depot station was preserved and reopened as a tourist destination on October 23, 2008.   The Museum consists of a main exhibition space, a model train room, and a Community Archive and Reading Room, where residents can research Dade City's people and history at the Depot property. The museum is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit and maintains close ties to the city of Dade City. Dade City's Heritage and Cultural Museum Moves to the Spoke Building Temporarily The Spoke building is adjacent to the Hardy Trail, at the intersection of Church Street. Having displays in the Spoke helps to keep the building and the museum vibrant while road construction is blocking the Depot location. Image by Richard Riley. The location puts The Dade City Historical and Cultural Museum right in the center of town.  The Hardy Trail goes alongside the east, including a "Little Library" supported by Hugh Embry Library.  Compared to The Depot, the much smaller "Spoke" building is now used for displays by local merchants on one side and historic displays brought from the Depot building on the other side.  Both displays will be rotating.  The Spoke building fronts Church Street and is 100 feet from the Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce.  Behind it will be the new "Water Event / Splash Pad" being constructed by the City of Dade City.  There is parking for scores of vehicles between the two events.  A five-passenger electric cart with comfortable seats and awning is used for Friday and Saturday tours of the historic highlights of Dade City.  Walking tours are also available.  Contributions are appreciated. US 98/301 Construction Blocks Access to the Depot Building According to Museum Director, Joy Lynn, the depot building was empty in 1998 and provided an opportunity for the community.  Many safety concerns were addressed by the City of Dade City during those renovations.  The main entrance with handicapped access was rebuilt. Now with the reconstruction of US 98/301 in front of the Depot, there is no easy or safe access for the next six months or so.  Richard Riley, with his trusty dog, "Little One," volunteers at the Dade City Heritage and Cultural Museum temporary home in The Spoke building in downtown Dade City. Image by Diane Bedard. Coincidentally this site is adjacent to the previous, now removed, pre-1980 Seaboard Air Line rail station in western Dade City.  Both rail lines were created by Henry B. Plant for the Seaboard, and Henry F. Flanger for the Atlantic.  From 1890, three rail lines served the area including the Orange Belt Railway from Sanford to Clearwater via Trilby, just to the north.   Today, adjacent to the Depot, the CSX "S-Line," a modern 1980 combination of the ACL and SAL, goes through with freight service to Tampa. The railroad lines have had no Amtrak passenger service since 2012, and presently have no major freight stops.   Joy Lynn, Director of the Dade City Heritage and Cultural Museum.Ted Johnson, Board member of the Heritage Museum and of the Zephyrhills Museum of Military History. Image courtesy of Richard Riley. The Hardy Trail, a half a mile to the west, is built on the 1980 removed SAL rail line and is being expanded from Trilby to the north and connecting to the planned 37-mile Orange Belt Trail, which will then connect to the Pinellas Trail. The Dade City Heritage Museum is not to be confused with The Dade City Pioneer Museum, a larger museum a few miles to the north that specializes in the turn of the nineteenth-century Pasco community. ACL #500 and #501
Tumblr media
Imaged above is the ACL #501 in the NC Transportation Museum
The Atlantic Coast Line ordered two EMC E3 models (numbered 500 and 501) from Electro-Motive Division of General Motors. They were to be used for service on The Champion, a streamlined train operated between the Atlantic Coast Line and the Florida East Coast Railway, between Miami, Florida and New York, New York. These locomotives were produced with 2,000 horsepower. Both were finished in 1939, however 501 was wrecked and rebuilt into a EMD E6 model before it was delivered. The ACL chose a purple and silver for their liveries, partially due to the use of it on the company turntables.
The Atlantic Coast Line No. 501 is a preserved Diesel-Electric EMC E3/EMD E6. It is notable as being the sole survivor of the EMC E3 Class even though it was rebuilt before it was delivered. It currently resides at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer.
The No. 501 remained pulling The Champion until 1970, with over 6 million operating miles (making it the most traveled E unit in United States History). In the 1980s, it operated on the Wisconsin Western Railroad (a short-lived heritage railway). In 1998, the North Carolina Department of Transportation Rail Division purchased the 501 and placed it on long term loan to the NC Transportation Museum.
The No. 500 was not as lucky, being involved in the worst railroad accident in North Carolina history. The Rennert Railroad Accident (also referred to as the Tamiami Champion Accident), happened on December 16, 1943 in Rennert, NC. It was the very early hours of the morning when the Nos. 514, 753, and 514 were running late southbound when 3 of its 18 cars detached and derailed blocking both lines. The crew attempted to set flares, which were damaged after one crewman slipped on the ice. After failing to catch the attention of the northbound train with a waving lantern (pulled by the Nos. 506, 503, and 500), the train crashed and derailed around 1:30 in the morning. Because of the severity of the accident, location away from the main road, the terribly cold weather, and the limited supplies around 72-74 people were killed, and another 187 injured. Even today, it is considered the worst railroad accident in North Carolina.
After this accident and another in Georgia in 1953, the No. 501 was rebuilt into a EMD E8a unit. And though assumedly scrapped, not much is known about the history of this locomotive after this time.

Will the Badgers Reign Supreme in the Big Ten West Again in 2018?
In just 93 short days football will be back under the lights at Camp Randall Stadium. Once again, the Badgers kickoff their season on a Friday night. This year, they face the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky. I absolutely cannot wait until the season starts. I strongly believe that the Badgers will defend their crown as Big Ten West Division champions. Furthermore, I believe that the Badgers will once again, make a run at the College Football Playoff.
In 2017, the Wisconsin offense was the second highest scoring offense in the Big Ten, averaging 33.8 points per game. They trailed only Ohio State and Penn State, who both averaged 41.1 points per game. The Badgers will be returning 10 of 11 offensive starters from a season ago. They also have the reigning Big Ten Coach of the Year, in Paul Chryst. This should have them in business to replicate, if not exceed, their offensive production from last year.
The Wisconsin defense was nothing short of spectacular in 2017. They posted the number one total defense in the Big Ten. Additionally, they had the best scoring defense in the Big Ten. Allowing just 13.9 points per game, 2.6 less points per game than the next team. The Badgers also had one shutout, well, two if you take away Iowa’s Josh Jackson’s two pick-sixes. They posted their best performance against the Iowa Hawkeyes, allowing just 66 yards. Keeping the Iowa offense out of the end zone, after running up 55 points on Ohio State a week earlier. Despite losing 7 of 11 starters though, the Badger defense will be just fine.
Below you will find a position-by-position recap of 2017 and a breakdown of what to expect in 2018.
Quarterbacks
Coming off his first full season as the Badgers starting quarterback, Alex Hornibrook is back in 2018 for his redshirt junior season. Hornibrook threw a career-high 25 touchdowns last season, which is the most by a Badgers quarterback since Russell Wilson threw a record-33, in 2011. He also threw for 2,644 yards, good for fifth most by a Badgers quarterback in a single season, and the most since Joel Stave threw for 2,687 in 2015. One thing Hornibrook struggled with, was throwing interceptions. He threw 15 on the season, including at least one in each of the first eight Big Ten games. He turned it around in the Badgers matchup with the Miami Hurricanes in the Orange Bowl though. He threw for 258 yards and four touchdowns, earning himself game MVP. With chemistry to build off of from 2017, Hornibrook should put up even better numbers in 2018. He might even be the first quarterback to join Russell Wilson in the 30 touchdown club.
Tumblr media
Offensive Lineman
The key to a good offense, is having a good offensive line. Good thing for the Badgers, this is something they have. They are returning their entire starting offensive line from 2017. This includes two NFL caliber players, Michael Dieter and Beau Benzschawel. This return will have Alex Hornibrook and Jonathan Taylor very happy. The sky is the limit for the Badger offense when they have such a strong line.
 Wide Receivers
The current wide receivers group for the Badgers is one of, if not the deepest, they have ever had. They will be returning their top four wideouts from 2017: Quintez Cephus, Danny Davis, Kendric Pryor, and AJ Taylor. These four combined for 100 receptions for 1,573 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Tumblr media
Quintez Cephus will be coming off a right leg injury that held him out of the Badgers final five games and most of spring practice. Prior to his injury though, Cephus was the Badgers top receiver. He had 30 receptions for 501 yards and 6 touchdowns. Though his season was cut short, his six touchdown catches still led the team. In fact, Cephus had the most touchdowns in a single season by a Badger receiver since Jared Abbrederis’ seven in 2013. Even more interesting, Cephus was on pace for 9.33 touchdowns in 2017, which would have given him the most since Lee Evans had nine in 2001. After his breakout year a season ago, look for Cephus to be even better in 2018. I don’t think it would be too far off to say that he could reach double-digit touchdowns. This would be quite the feat for the Badger receiver, as there are only two receivers in school history with double-digit touchdowns. Lee Evans did it in 2003 with 13 and Nick Toon did it in 2011 with 10.
Danny Davis will be a true sophomore for the Badgers in 2018. He was likely to redshirt his freshman season until he surprised everyone in fall camp, giving the coaches no choice but to play him. He did not disappoint. He showed that has the potential to become the Badgers best deep threat since Jared Abbrederis (in 2013). His breakout season was capped off with a three touchdown performance in the Orange Bowl against Miami. The future is bright for Davis. Expect to see him pick up right where he left off once the season starts.
Kendric Pryor missed the first five games of the 2017 season while recovering from facial injuries suffered from a moped accident. In addition to his receiving, Pryor also had 63 yards rushing yards and two touchdowns. Though his receiving numbers were low, 2018 looks to be a better season. He will have game experience as well as the same quarterback throwing to him.
After a preview of his talent in 2016, AJ Taylor unleashed in 2017. He finished the season with the second most receiving yards by a Badger wide receiver. As well as finishing in a tie for second in receiving touchdowns, with Danny Davis. He had his biggest game in the Orange Bowl. He caught 8 passes for 105 yards and one touchdown. After his emergence to scene, Taylor should have no problem replicating his production from 2017 in 2018.
Additionally, the Badgers have a few intriguing new faces coming in. Two receivers, Aron Cruickshank and Taj Mustapha, enrolled early, in January, allowing them to get a head start and participate in spring practices. By the looks of it, these newcomers will provide even more talent to this special group. These true freshmen look to follow in the footsteps of teammates: Quintez Cephus, AJ Taylor, and Danny Davis, and provide depth to the position as true freshmen. But it doesn’t end here, the Badgers will have two more wide receivers joining them in the summer, AJ Abbott and Isaac Guerendo.
Running Backs
“RunningBack U.” That is the nickname dubbed to the University of Wisconsin for their long history of producing great running backs. Jonathan Taylor in 2017 was no different. He had a record-setting freshman year for the Badgers. His 1,977 yards broke Adrian Peterson’s freshman rushing record of 1,925 yards. Taylor was also a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, and finished sixth in Heisman Trophy voting. But the accolades did not stop there for Taylor. He won the Thompson-Randle El Freshman of the Year award in the Big Ten. Making him the first Badger to win the award since fellow running back James White in 2010. Taylor also led the Big Ten in rushing. Ending with 574 more yards than the next person, fellow freshman J.K. Dobbins.
Tumblr media
When thinking of how great his freshman season was, there is only one other player to compare Taylor to, Ron Dayne. In a freshman season in Wisconsin history, Taylor is second only to Dayne in rushing yards. Dayne put up 2,109 yards in 1996 and in 2017, Taylor had 1,977. Unlike the NCAA, I am including Dayne’s bowl stats.
With Taylor his entire offensive line coming back, Taylor looks to have even more success in 2018. After finishing his freshman campaign 33 yards short of 2,000, I would not put it past Taylor to reach that mark this season. With a year of experience under his belt and a veteran line, anything is possible. If he is able to reach the mark, he would join as exclusive club. Only two running backs in Wisconsin history have rushed for 2,000 yards. They are Ron Dayne (1996, 1999) and Melvin Gordon (2014).
The Badgers are also getting back Chris James and Garrett Groshek. As well as Bradrick Shaw, who is coming off a torn ACL, and Taiwan Deal, who recently had ankle surgery. Though this group has battled their fair share of injuries, each player will be able to help back-up Jonathan Taylor.
Additionally, the Badgers have an incoming freshman, Nakia Watson, who will likely battle for a spot in the rotation. Last year, we were unclear whether or not Jonathan Taylor was going to play, but after a strong Fall Camp, the decision was clear. Watson is hoping to have similar experience. I think, given the current state of the back-ups, that Watson could find himself with some playing time in the Fall.
Tight Ends
It will be hard to replace Troy Fumagalli. He won the Tight End of the Year award in the Big Ten. Joining Jacob Pedersen (2012), as the only Badgers to win the award. He also finished the season with the most receiving yards on the team, 547.
Tumblr media
However, the Badgers will have redshirt freshman tight end, Jake Ferguson, at their disposal. Ferguson won Offensive Scout-Team Player of the Year in 2017. And has impressed coaches all throughout his redshirt season. I for one, am excited to see what he brings to the table.
The Badgers will also return senior, Zander Neuville, and redshirt junior, Kyle Penniston. Neuville is coming off an injury that kept him sidelined for the final two games of the season. But he will be ready to go come Fall Camp. Incoming freshman, Jaylan Franklin, will also be joining the group in the summer.
Cornerbacks
Wisconsin will be losing their top two cornerbacks from 2017, Nick Nelson and Derrick Tindal. Nelson, and his single season school-record 21 pass break-ups forewent his senior year and entered the NFL Draft. While Tindal, and his 3 interceptions, graduated. The Badgers will also lose Lubern Figaro, to graduation. The only experienced player returning for the Badgers is Dontye Carriere-Williams.
Madison Cone, Faion Hicks, and Caesar Williams all look to battle it out to play opposite of Carriere-Williams. Cone has the most experience of the three. He played in nine games as a true freshman in 2017. He is likely the early favorite to win the job.
The Badgers do have an early enrollee cornerback, Donte Burton. With a possible starting spot up for grabs, this decision could play off nicely for Burton.
In the summer, Burton will be joined by fellow freshmen cornerbacks Travion Blaylock and Alexander Smith. With a depleted cornerback room, any of the incoming freshman, or young veterans could become part of the rotation. It will be interesting to see what unfolds during Fall Camp, and who the new starting cornerback will be.
Safety
The Badgers will be losing one of their starting safeties, Natrell Jamerson, to graduation. Jamerson had two interceptions, including a pick-six, to go along with 51 tackles. The team will also be losing interception leader, Joe Ferguson, to graduation. However, the team still has D’Cota Dixon. He logged 58 tackles and one interception in 2017. Having an experienced player and team leader like Dixon will be huge for the success of the Wisconsin secondary.
The Badgers also have Patrick Johnson II, Eric Burrell, Seth Currens, and Scott Nelson. Johnson saw playing before having his season cut short due to an arm injury. Burrell also contributed in the secondary in 2017. He and Johnson both look to have an even bigger impact in 2018. The two are also the likely favorites win the final starting safety job. There is also an early enrollee at this position, Reggie Pearson, Jr. The Badger secondary will also be joined this summer by Rachad Wildgoose II. It will be an interesting battle to see who gets the starting spot next to Dixon. I cannot wait to find out.
Linebackers
After losing both TJ Watt and Vince Biegel after the 2016 season, many believed that the linebacking group would take a severe hit in 2017. But they proved everyone wrong. Even with losing Jack Cichy to torn ACL and Zack Baun to a broken left foot, the linebackers did not miss a beat. Ryan Connelly led the team with 88 tackles, and even had an interception. TJ Edwards tied the team lead with four interceptions and totaled 81 tackles on the season. While Leon Jacobs had 60 tackles and two interceptions of his own. Newcomer, Andrew Van Ginkel, was a huge boost to the group. He had 39 tackles and two interceptions. Garrett Dooley added 39 tackles for the Badgers.
Tumblr media
Though losing Jacobs, Dooley, and even Cichy will be tough, I can’t see the Badger linebacker group being too fazed. Interception leader-TJ Edwards, tackles leader-Ryan Connelly, Chris Orr, Andrew Van Ginkel, and Zack Baun will all be returning. This group takes hit after hit, but they constantly prove that they are one of the deepest positions on the team. I am truly looking forward to watching this group continue to dominate in 2018.
Defensive Line
The Badgers will be losing two of their starting defensive lineman, in Alec James and Conor Sheehy. They will also be losing Chikwe Obasih. The three combined for 98 tackles. However, the Badgers will be getting back their starting nose tackle, Olive Sagapolu. Good news for them, bad news for opponents. Garrett Rand and Isaiahh Loudermilk, who also saw significant playing time in 2017, will be returning. The Badgers have an early enrollee at this position as well, Bryson Williams. With the departures of two of the starting line, Williams hopes that his work this spring will be rewarded with playing time this Fall.
I will leave you with this. The Badger offense will be returning 10 of 11 starters from last season. Everyone will have had a season of experience. Knowing how to work with one another and make each other better. The way it looks right now, this offense could be one of the best in the Big Ten in 2018. On the other side of the ball, the Badger defense will be losing 7 of 11 starters. However, they always seem to replenish and exceed outside expectations. The linebacker group has shown time and time again that they are one of the deepest on the team, and I expect it to be that way again in 2018. Though, the Badgers biggest concerns will come in their secondary. Yet, I have complete faith that Defensive Coordinator, Jim Leonhard, will have the defense in top shape come August 31.

8 linebacker options for the Eagles
The Eagles have a need at linebacker after seeing Jordan Hicks sign with the Arizona Cardinals in NFL free agency. Nigel Bradham will return as a starter in 2019 but who will line up next to him?
Philadelphia has some internal options worth considering. Kamu Grugier-Hill stepped up to become the Eagles’ WILL linebacker last season. The team seemingly has some level of hope for 2017 fifth-round pick Nathan Gerry. Paul Worrilow, an experienced veteran, is set to challenge for a roster spot after missing the entire 2018 campaign with an ACL injury.
But while those guys will be in the mix, they certainly shouldn’t (and won’t) prevent the Eagles from adding more bodies at linebacker. Here are some external options for them to consider.
Note that these players aren’t really sexy additions. I don’t think the Eagles will look to invest heavily at the position as much they’ll look to plug a hole and potentially pick up a Day 3 linebacker in the 2019 NFL Draft.
UPDATE: Shortly after publishing this post, Washington released Zach Brown. He might be too expensive for the Eagles’ taste but he’s an intriguing option. Brown was PFF’s fourth highest overall graded linebacker in 2018. He’s always passed the eye test for me. It helps that signing him wouldn’t count against Philly’s compensatory pick formula.
I previously explained why the Eagles should target the 29-year-old Bynes.
Bynes makes sense for an Eagles team that could be looking for an immediate starter to pair with Nigel Bradham. He could be an adequate, inexpensive stop-gap option that buys the Eagles time to find a long-term option at middle linebacker. The fact that Bynes was cut by the Cardinals means he won’t count against Philly’s compensatory pick formula, which is another bonus. [...] Pro Football Focus actually graded him 14th out of 96 linebackers who played at least 20% of a team’s defensive snaps in 2018.
Bynes played for the Ravens from 2011 through 2013 while Eagles vice president of player personnel Joe Douglas was working for Baltimore. There’s a level of familiarity here, which is something Philly’s front office typically values. Familiarity, experience, versatility ... Bynes seems like a logical fit for the Eagles.
The Rams recently cut Barron. The No. 7 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft began his career as a safety but eventually moved to linebacker. Jim Schwartz has previously shown interest in linebacker/safety hybrid types (Grugier-Hill, Gerry) so maybe Barron is on his radar as well. Barron has 93 career starts to his name. Here’s some perspective on why he was a cap casualty from Turf Show Times:
Barron is the most likely candidate to be released as he’s simply paid too high of an amount. Barron is a 29-year old linebacker who transitioned from safety many years ago after the Rams secured him in a trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Barron actually turned out to be a fantastic addition as his physicality, nasty demeanor, and lack of fear proved the transition to be the correct move. The issue becomes his price tag ($9.6m for the 2019 season) and his inability to stay healthy. Barron hasn’t played a full season since 2016 and has seemingly missed a ton of offseason and in-season training the past two years due to nagging injuries. Releasing Barron would save the Rams $6.3m on the cap this year, though they’d also eat a penalty of $3.3m. Barron is currently the sixth highest paid ILB in football, and with the current quality of his play, it doesn’t make financial sense to keep him around at that figure.
Fort is a player that BGN’s Michael Kist has been suggesting for the Eagles. Fort actually started his first career game against Philly all the way back in 2012. The former undrafted free agent had his most productive season in 2018 with 48 tackles, three quarterback hits, and one fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. Fort only has three starts in 61 career games played but maybe he’s ready for a bigger role. PFF graded him 19th out of 96 linebackers in 2018.
The Broncos released the 29-year-old Marshall earlier this offseason. Marshall has started 63 games for Denver over the past five seasons. He’s logged 423 tackles, five forced fumbles, and two interceptions in that span. He could be a solid stop-gap starter.
Ryan, a fourth-round pick by the Packers in 2017, turned 27 last month. He missed the entire 2018 season due to a torn ACL. Prior to that, he made 27 starts in 43 games played for Green Bay. He was showing signs of development prior to the injury, according to PFF:
The Michigan alumnus dramatically improved his overall grade each year of his career with his best season coming in 2017, where he earned a 75.7 overall grade and a 72.9 run-defense grade. Green Bay has no shortage of talented young linebackers with Oren Burks, Antonio Morrison and the emergence of 25-year old Blake Martinez all on relatively cheap contracts. This depth could cause the Packers to let go of Ryan in free agency, but he should have no shortage of potential suitors.
The former Notre Dame star has made 47 starts in 59 games played after being selected in the second-round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He’s spent the last two years with the Saints, where he’s been able to make some positive contributions. Te’o is another stop-gap type option.
There’s an expectation that Lee could be available in a trade following the Jets’ signing of C.J. Mosley. New York’s 2016 first-round pick has had a bit of a bumpy road in the NFL. The team suspended him for a game for being late to practice in 2017. The league hit Lee with a four-game PED suspension in 2018. Lee is only 24 years old and his 2019 base salary is just over $1.8 million. Taking a shot on his upside at the cost of a late-round pick (or pick swap) could be worth it for the Eagles. PFF had Lee graded as their third best cover linebacker last season.

At Richmond's Broad Street Station as SCL 501 on January 17, 1970
flickr
At Richmond's Broad Street Station as SCL 501 on January 17, 1970 by Marty Bernard Via Flickr: My favorite locomotive model was the slant nose E5As and E6As. E5s and E6s were the exact same locomotive except that E5s had stainless steel fluting on their sides and were sold only to the CB&Q. Growing up in a Chicago suburb with the CB&Q splitting the village in half and then working for the CB&Q is what won me over to E5s. Then I spent a winter working on a coach in a roundhouse with an E6A in the stall next to the coach. That E6A was ACL 501. The roundhouse was at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer. I had met ACL 501 over four decades earlier on the ready track at Broad Street Station in Richmond, VA. She was painted as SCL 501. Note: ACL 501 was built as an E3 and later upgraded to an E6.

Who is going to win the NFC East?
Tumblr media
The Giants are out, but the three-team race for the NFC East race is wide open.
There was a chance Week 12 was going to sort out the NFC East some. Instead, wins for the Cowboys and Eagles squeezed the NFL’s most jumbled division even tighter with five weeks left to play.
The only thing that got decided is that the New York Giants are probably toast.
Through 12 weeks, these are the current NFC East standings, with the divisional records for each team in parentheses:
Cowboys: 6-5, (3-1)
Washington: 6-5, (2-1)
Eagles: 5-6, (2-1)
Giants: 3-8, (0-4)
Wins over Washington and Philadelphia in two of the last three weeks vaulted the Cowboys into the top spot, but the race is far from over. With five regular season games left for each — and five more NFC East vs. NFC East duels coming in December — it’s still very much in the air:
Dallas Cowboys, 55 percent chance
The Cowboys finally have a rhythm.
After slaloming between wins and losses in the first half of the season, Dallas found a way to string together three consecutive victories in the last three weeks to climb to first place in the division.
Ezekiel Elliott has three straight games over 120 rushing yards for the first time since October of his rookie year. He’s been helped by the arrival of Amari Cooper, who has also helped Dak Prescott to play efficient, mistake-free football.
But five of the Cowboys’ six wins came against teams with losing records. In the six games they’ve played against teams with winning records, the Cowboys are 1-5. The only win was a 31-23 win on Thanksgiving against Washington, who was led by Colt McCoy.
In the next three weeks, Dallas has two tough matchups against the Saints and Colts, as well as a rematch against the Eagles. Win at least two of those games, and the Cowboys will probably be set up to cruise to the NFC East title — especially with games against the Buccaneers and Giants to finish the season.
The Cowboys have the inside track to the division crown, but the next three weeks are time to prove they deserve it.
Washington, 34 percent chance
Even before Alex Smith suffered a devastating leg injury and was replaced in the starting lineup by Colt McCoy, Washington looked primed for a fall from grace.
The offense averages 20 points per game and has dealt with a revolving door of offensive linemen due to injuries. Washington’s 5-2 start to the year was mostly due to defense, but the unit looked pretty shaky in November.
Washington enters December having lost three of its last four. The only got a win came against the Buccaneers, who somehow managed to turn 501 yards of total offense into just three points.
The silver lining in all of this is that the offense really isn’t much different with McCoy in the lineup. Smith had only 10 touchdowns in 10 games and wasn’t leading Washington to many points. The 23 points and 331 yards the offense found in McCoy’s first start were the team’s third- and sixth-best totals of the year.
Washington can still be the team that started the year well out in front of the NFC East. What will loom large are the results of two games against the Eagles in Weeks 13 and 17. In between are winnable matchups against the Giants, Jaguars, and Titans.
At 6-5, the season is far from over for Washington.
Philadelphia Eagles, 20 percent chance
It’s been difficult to figure out why the Eagles aren’t back out in front of the NFC East.
Carson Wentz recovered from an ACL tear as well as the team could’ve possibly hoped, and he’s back to being the player who almost won the NFL MVP award a year ago. But everything about the team has just been average, at best.
Its stacked defensive line is giving up 4.7 yards per carry, and a secondary decimated by injuries is No. 28 in the NFL in passing yards allowed. Offensively, the Eagles have struggled to run the ball and the addition of Golden Tate hasn’t solved the inability to find big plays.
But through all those stumbling blocks, the Eagles are still 5-6 and nipping at the heels of the leaders. With games against Washington and Dallas in the next two weeks, Philadelphia has a chance to take the top spot soon too.
After that are tough matchups against the Rams and Texans, before a rematch in Week 17 with Washington.
Given their consistent inconsistency, it’s tough to trust the Eagles to finish with enough wins to get into the playoffs. But it’s not easy to rule them out either. The next two weeks should finally give us answers.
New York Giants, 1 percent chance
The Giants’ shot at the NFC East was probably flushed away when they blew a 19-3 lead against the Eagles this week. Philadelphia’s game-winning field goal in the final minute dropped the Giants to 3-8 and guaranteed they won’t have a winning season.
Even if New York ends the season with five straight wins, it’ll be 8-8 with a 2-4 record in the division. That will almost definitely mean it loses any tiebreaker.
But it’s not entirely impossible. The Giants have played better since their bye week and were close to beating the Eagles to make it three straight wins. If — a big if — the Giants can win out, that would include victories over Washington and Dallas. Maybe that’d be enough to knock the teams under .500.
That almost definitely won’t happen. The Giants’ realistic chances at the playoffs ended Sunday. Now, it’s a three-team race for the NFC East crown.

High-Dose Intravenous Vitamin C Therapy at Riordan Clinic Offers New Hope to Young Cancer Patient After Chemotherapy Fails

High-Dose Intravenous Vitamin C Therapy at Riordan Clinic Offers New Hope to Young Cancer Patient After Chemotherapy Fails
Wichita, Kansas (PRWEB) November 15, 2016
At just three months of age, doctors diagnosed Hoyt Lee with Neurofibromatosis 1 (NF-1). At 16 months old, he started chemotherapy for a brain tumor. After completing a grueling year of drug cocktails that wracked his young body, Hoyt’s mother, Shawna Overbey, received the news that she’d feared the most. Hoyt’s tumors were not responding to the chemo. They were growing.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) showed accelerated tumor growth in his optic nerve chiasm. The optic chiasm is an X-shaped structure formed by the crossing of the optic nerves in the brain. The tumor was affecting his right and left eyes, his pituitary gland, and his hypothalamus.
The only available treatment alternatives were radiation or a different chemotherapy cocktail that can cause nerve damage and affect motor skills like walking and hand movement.
Decades after the Riordans’ pioneering research, ascorbic acid treatment for cancer is entering the mainstream, with clinical trials being conducted at John’s Hopkins, University of Iowa, Jefferson University and Cornell. A clinical trial on vitamin C and prostate cancer was recently completed at Copenhagen University Hospital at Herlev, Denmark and in a study published November 5th in Science, a team of researchers from Weill Cornell Medicine, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Tufts Medical Center, Harvard Medical School and The Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center found that high doses of vitamin C – roughly equivalent to the levels found in 300 oranges – impaired the growth of KRAS mutant and BRAF mutant colorectal tumors in cultured cells and mice.
Since undergoing IV high-dose vitamin C therapy, Hoyt Lee’s progress has been miraculous. According to his mother, MRIs have shown tumor stability or shrinkage over the past two and a half years. The tumor is no longer affecting his right eye, pituitary gland or hypothalamus. As of February 2016, there is almost no sign of a tumor in Hoyt’s optic nerve chiasm. Hoyt is doing so well that he won’t have to return to the hospital for another year.
“As Schopenhauer said, ‘All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.’,” said Dr. Riordan. “As far as high-dose vitamin C goes, I think that, fortunately, we are finally entering the third stage,’ he added.
“We are delighted with Hoyt’s progress and equally proud that through generous charitable contributions, we’ve been able to do it without the crushing costs that can be associated with conventional treatments like chemotherapy,” commented Donna Kramme, CEO of Riordan Clinic. “It can cost as much as $15,000 per year to treat a child like Hoyt. We ask that everyone who is passionate about helping children like Hoyt please contact the Riordan Clinic to donate today. Without your help we cannot continue vital research that will make Hugh Riordan’s dream four decades ago, a reality today and into the future,” she concluded.

A Master List of Every Austin Restaurant Opening in Fall 2017
A lavish spread from Be More Pacific, set to make the leap from food truck to brick-and-mortar this fall.
Ah, fall. The air gets a little crisp, the leaves (sort of) start to change, and new restaurants open in a frenzy.
With the inevitable delays, reading the tea leaves of Austin hospitality can be difficult, but we’ve done our best to give you a comprehensive, alphabetical list of Austin restaurants set to open by the end of November. With everything from a new Filipino brick-and-mortar to a downtown food hall around the corner, it’s never too early to start putting on that winter weight.
Anthem, serving Asian fusion like flat bread egg rolls and craft beer, will come to the Millennium Rainey high-rise by the end of fall.
A second location of Austin Daily Press will be opening at 4620 E. Cesar Chavez St. by late fall with an expanded menu that moves from tacos and tortas to tapas.
Be More Pacific, the punny Filipino food truck, is going brick-and-mortar in the former home of Rebel Pizza Bar. By the end of October, expect a full-service experience with a tasting menu for dinner, a casual counter-service lunch, a lavish Sunday brunch, and a full bar. 7858 Shoal Creek Blvd.
Better Half, from the owners of Wright Bros. Brew and Brew, will be bringing light meals, coffee, beer, and a full bar to the 1203 W. Fifth St. space most recently occupied by local ridesharing app Ride Austin.
The Highland area is set to have more dining options with the opening of Brewtorium in the fall. The 6015 Dillard Cir. restaurant will have pub grub like pizza and bratwurst to go with owners Chris Rauschuber and Whitney Roberts’ brews.
Captain Quackenbush’s Coffeehouse and Bakery will try to recapture some of its late ’80s Drag vibes this fall by opening a larger space at 5326 Manchaca Rd., the former home of Strange Brew.
Colleen’s Kitchen in Mueller’s busy Aldrich Street District could be open as early as late fall. The project from Sean and Ashley Fric will bring Southern hospitality to the ‘hood.
Confituras Little Kitchen will have plenty of fresh biscuits, served with preserves from Stephanie McClenny’s essential jams and preserves line. The 2129 Goodrich Ave. space will also act as a culinary incubator for other chefs. Expect to also see their wares in the jewel box shop, opening in early fall.
Cookbook Cafe, the ELM Group concept that will draw its menu from the archives, is shooting to open October with the new Austin Central Library downtown, but can’t confirm yet. The project will include a full bar program, good news for those who prefer their Anna Karenina with a little bit of vodka.
Signs indicate that Cosmic Cafe and Beer at 121 Pickle Rd., the crowdfunded beer garden and food truck court that took over the space that Buzz Mill abandoned, is nearing completion.
Epoch continues its recent expansion by converting an old service station at 3900 Far West Blvd. into a third location (a fourth is planned in Plaza Saltillo). Expect pots to start brewing by mid-October.
The Fairmont Hotel, opening in late fall at 101 Red River St., will be a culinary wonderland of five projects, including wood-fired temple Garrison; food hall Revue (featuring a Italian, Pan-Asian, and a bakeshop concept); the Good Things coffee shop; and two bars, Fulton and Rules & Regs.
Fareground, the downtown food hall managed by ELM Group will feature Dai Due Taquería; Antonelli’s Cheese Shop; Easy Tiger Bake Shop; Ni-Komé sushi and ramen; Henbit and Honeybit, two concepts from Emmer & Rye’s Kevin Fink and Tavel Bristol-Joseph; and Contigo Fareground. The concept is still eyeing a late fall opening at 111 Congress Ave.
Home Slice will expand to a long-awaited second location at 501 E. 53rd St. by the end of fall. The new location will offer the same New York-style pies, plus new menu items and a full bar. Oh, and there’s plenty of parking.
We are looking for updates on Il Brutto, the New Waterloo Italian concept that was first slated to be open by summer at 1617 E. Sixth St.
Intero Ristorante, another entry into the Austin Italian race, will open in the Bud’s motorcycle building on 2612 E. Cesar Chavez St. in October. The project from former Vespaio chef Ian Thurwachter and his wife, Crave Chocolate’s Krystal Craig, will focus on snout-to-tail cooking.
Komé is renovating the Cash America Pawn building at 5301 Airport Blvd. to be their new location, with an October goal. The expanded dining room will have much the same menu, but the drinks will be revamped with the coming of a new liquor license.
Local, a new Austin location of a popular San Antonio coffee shop, will open in the Seaholm in early November, bringing with it pastries and desserts from Bakery Lorraine.
Houston import Peli Peli is taking over the shuttered Cantina Laredo space at 201 W. Third St. by the end of the year. Those who can’t wait for the restaurant’s South African fare can get a preview at this weekend’s ACL Festival.
Polvos, the long-running Tex-Mex joint, is taking over the old Prelog’s space in the 360 Tower for its third location. Although a sign is up, there’s no word on the exact opening date.
Casual East Austin eatery Revelry Kitchen & Bar (not to be confused with the Revelry event space that also hosts culinary happenings) will be opening a north location at 6215 N. Lamar Blvd. by late fall.
Green greens purveyor Snappy Salads is opening the first Austin location at 701 South Capital of Texas Highway any day now.
Soto, or at least something Soto-ish will be opening in Lamar Union any day now. Although the restaurant will not share the name of the Cedar Park original, some of that restaurant’s favorites will be making their way to the new menu.
Suerte, from former Odd Duck chef Sam Hellman-Mass, will draw inspiration from traditional Mexican cooking techniques. The 1800 E. Sixth St. location should be open for business in late fall.
TLC, a new comfort food concept from the owners of J. Blacks, will open in the possibly cursed Lamar Union development by the end of October.
After a long series of pop-up dinners, El Chile Group’s (El Chile, El Chilito, Alcomar, El Alma, and the recently-shuttered El Sapo) Peruvian restaurant and pisco bar Yuyo should open … sometime. A location has yet to be announced for the long-awaited concept.
