The Future Betrayer of ACOTAR
*I already know this is going to definitely make people mad, but be kind y’all, this character isn’t you and has no reflection on who you are as a person*
The Hint of a Future Betrayal:
Tumblr media
In ACOSF, we get this quote from Briallyn (who was working very closely with Koschei) that they are aware that there are members in the night court that can be persuaded to help them with the right motivation.
The Right Incentive and Motive
Like any crime and suspects, we must look at who has motive and who is desperate enough to commit said crime. That being said: who has been hinted since ACOWAR to want something very desperately to the point of delusion? I favor Elain and here is why I think so:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here are three separate occasions across two books that we have Elains storyline heavily showing her desires and wishes to be human. To the point where she followed something into enemy camp away from her loved ones because she was that desperate to be human again. That is definitely foreshadowing especially when we see it across two books and with what we learn in ACOSF in regard to Elain.
The Evidence in Elain’s Storyline in ACOSF
The next part of placing a suspect is gathering the evidence to suggest your suspect is guilty and ACOSF has pretty good evidence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Above is only one instance (had to cut out the others bc tumblr does like more than 10 photos per post), but there are multiple instances showing that Elain and Elains storyline is suspect. Like Elain is noticeably absent from the pages in ACOSF which was shocking in and of itself, but what’s even more shocking is that the scenes we do get show us she is sneaking around/lying/and not acting as she normally does (and p.s. we know Azriel isn’t the one teaching her to be sneaky since from his own thoughts we know he hadn’t been alone with her since ACOFAS). This all is just very suspicious.
So who is she working for/sneaking around to?
Tumblr media
We get this from ACOSF that Koschei is doing anything he can to free himself and even further drives the point that Koschei knows he can manipulate someone in the IC. So it is reasonable to theorize given everything we know from above that Elain may be influenced to help Koschei under the delusion that he can help her be human again.
To Conclude,
Maybe all of this is just a coincidence. Maybe it is nothing at all. Or maybe it’s everything. I’ll leave you with two last photos that further drive the connection between Elain and Koschei with this line in ACOWAR of Elains mind and this picture saved from SJMs deleted pinterest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Surely looks to me like SJM was trying to paint a picture of who’s entangled with Elains story and specifically her mind and with all we know from ACOSF, it’s not hard to believe that Elain is going to have a part in freeing koschei with the promise of being human again.
I am once again rewriting to implore you to remember that this is just a theory that I believe is very sound based on everything I posted above with textual evidence and SJMs pinterest. It does not mean I think Elain or people who relate to Elain are evil and underserving of good things. If you cannot debate like you are a human capable of empathy, please see yourself away from my page.

Seeing a lot of discourse about Azriel v Lucien in a blood duel and who would destroy whose ass. (Not sexually unfortunately)
I’m lowkey torn … but leaning toward Azriel (?) Who do you guys think would win if the blood duel hypothetically did happen?

It would make so much sense to me if the original Valkyries territory was that of the Prison island, the rumored, would have been "Dusk Truth" and home of the Pegasus, where they were protectors of the Harp.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Not to mention it would explain why Merrill was researching both the Valkyries and interested in time travel, if she was trying to track down the item they once protected in order to use it herself.
But I'm not sure it all adds up considering Cassian had a Valkyrie lover and I'd think he'd have known if their territory was that of the Prison island?
Just a thought rattling around in my mind.

Who do we think ACOTAR 5 is going to be about?
I kind of want it to be about Nesta because of the way the ending in HOFAS was set up but that would mean SJM will have to run circles around Azriel/Elain/Lucien/Gwyn if she wants to keep the ships alive.
I also don't want to believe Nesta really settled down for Assian.

Elain Archeon deep dive
This is a long one, bare with me.
I think Elain’s character is easy for ACOTAR fans to mold her into what they want her to be because we haven’t really seen a lot of Elain from the series and but I also think we still have enough information about Elain to know her to an extent.
I like Elain’s character, she has so much potential in the future. Whether people agree or not she will have a major role to play in the future of the ACOTAR books and her character would be more fleshed out in her book, but the theories some fans come up with about Elain is crazy and I don’t think they fit her character or who she is.
The number one thing I see is, Elain is going to become an assassin/spy.
I know people say this about Elain to make her be better suited to be in a ship with Azriel & there is textual evidence to show that Elain is good at sneaking around and keeping secrets.
• “Elain was the only one who guessed. She caught me vomiting two mornings in a row.” She nodded toward Azriel. “I think she’s got you beat for secret keeping.” (Page 235, ACOSF)
• “Elain had already departed with Feyre, claiming she had to be up with the dawn tend to an elderly faerie’s garden. Cassian didn’t exactly know why he expected this wasn’t true. There has been some tightness in Elain’s face as she’d said it. Normally when she made such excuses, Lucien was around, but the male remained in the human lands with jurian and Vassa.” (Page 311, ACOSF)
When Elain lies, her face tightens up. Azriel confirmed this in his ACOSF bonus chapter.
• “You came,” Elain said behind her, and Nesta started, not having heard her sister approach. She scanned Elain from head to toe, wondering if she’d been taking lessons in stealth either from Azriel or the two half wraiths she called friends. (Page 596, ACOSF)
There’s also evidence that Elain becoming a spy/assassin might not come to happen.
• “Gentle grower of things.” (Page 488, ACOMAF)
• “Elain had always been gentle and sweet—and I had considered it a different sort of strength. A better strength. To look at the hardness of the world and choose, over and over, to love, to be kind. She had been always so full of light. Perhaps that was why she now kept all the curtains open. To fill the void that existed where all of that light had once been. And now nothing remained.” (Page 156, ACOWAR)
• “If the faeries who attack possess magic,”Cassian said, and Elain recoiled at the harsh tone, “then thick stone won’t do much.” (Page 471, ACOWAR)
• Elain was blinking, wide eyed, at the camp. The army. Devlon let out a grunt at the sight of her. But Elain wrapped her own blue cloak around herself, averting her eyes from all of their towering, muscled warriors, the army camp bustling toward the horizon…she was a rose bloom in a mud field. Field with galloping horses. (Page 485, ACOWAR)
• “Graysen leveled a seething look at Rhysand. “Is this the start of it? You fae males will come to take out women? Are your own not fuckable enough?” “Watch your tongue, boy,” his father said. Elain turned white at the coarse language.” (Page 500, ACOWAR)
• “Nesta and I climbed inside one of the supply caravan’s covered wagons to change into illyrian fighting leathers. Nesta even buckled a knife at her side. Elain…she’d taken one look at us in the swaying grasses outside that wagon, the legs and assets on display and turned crimson. Viviane stepped in, offering a winter court fashion that was far less scandalous: leather pants, but paired with a thigh length blue surcoat, white fur trimming the collar. In the heat, it’d be miserable, but Elain was thankful enough that she didn’t complain.” (Page 609, ACOWAR)
• “She refused the knife Cassian handed her though. Went white as death at the sight of it.” (Page 609, ACOWAR)
• “Fae fertility cycles had never been something I’d considered, and explaining them to Nesta and Elain had been uncomfortable, to say the least. Elain had blushed, muttering about the impropriety of such things.” (Page 49, ACOWAR)
• “She gave it back”….“Elain had given it back—had pressed it into Azriel’s hands after the battle, just as he had pressed it into hers before. And then walked away without looking back.” (Pg 41-42, ACOFAS)
• “Elain, surprisingly, held her ground. “I wasn’t drinking myself into oblivion and—and doing those other things.” “fucking strangers?” Elain flinched again, her face coloring.” (Page 204, ACOSF)
• “And he knew the cruelty of the Hewn City troubled her.” (page 580, ACOSF)
• “So Elain had let her golden brown hair down tonight, and pinned it back with twin combs of pearl. He’d never once in the two years he’d known her found Elain to be plain, but wearing black, no matter how much she claimed to be part of this court…it sucked the life from her.” (page 580, ACOSF)
Elain is seen to be the most gentle Archeon sister. She’s seen to be sweet and innocent. But I know that Elain can grow out of that innocence. It’s very obvious that Elain is just not going to be sweet and innocent all of her life. I think she will seem to grow bolder with her family, the IC and go do things that she actually wants and not do what people expect her to do or be the person people expect her to be.
But what we have seen from her so far is that Elain recoils at harshness. She doesn’t like to talk about sex, menstrual periods, or even wear illyrian fighting leathers because she thinks that it’s inappropriate to discuss and to even wear. Night court black doesn’t suit her. She doesn’t want to train or hold a knife and she only did so out of necessity in ACOWAR. She doesn’t even like the cruelness of Hewn City.
So to say Elain is going to be assassin & spy when that job title includes killing & torturing in the Hewn City to the point that even Feyre couldn’t stand to see Azriel torture in the Hewn City and knowing Elain is the most gentle out of the 3 Archeon sisters and pretty much saying she’s going to to be ok with killing and torturing is beyond me.
Yes spy work is gathering information from observation which Elain is very good at doing but also you get information from torturing it out of your enemies as we seen Azriel do and I just think that’s not going to sit right with Elain at all.
And to claim that Elain is going to be an assassin & spy when she has no physical training to do either to me is far fetched, yes Elain could physically train in her own book, but I felt like ACOSF could have been a perfect set up for elain to train with Nesta since from ACOTAR, readers thought that Elain and Nesta had a really close relationship.
We also don’t know how Elain even feels about killing Hybern. He was her first kill. I’m pretty sure Elain is traumatized about that whole ordeal and I even think she has nightmares about it. Elain can claim that she’s fine but from what we seen from both Feyre and Nesta you can claim & appear that you’re fine all you want to but as the readers we won’t know the depth of her struggle until we get Elain’s pov.
But also, Elain doesn’t need to train and become a soldier to be a badass MC. Physical strength doesn’t define a person. Like Feyre said, Elain has a different type of strength and I would love to see that in the upcoming books.
Archeon sisters relationship.
Though I am a huge Feyre fan and I do like Nesta, but the way both sisters sometimes/most times describe Elain just really confirms to me that they really don’t know her fully at all and that the 3 Archeon sisters are not going to be as close as I really want the sisters to be. Though I know opinions can change.
• “It wasn’t that Elain was cruel. She wasn’t like Nesta, who had been born with a sneer on her face. Elain sometimes just…didn’t grasp things. (Page 11, ACOTAR)
• “It wasn’t meanness that kept her from offering to help; it simply never occurred to her that she might be capable of getting her hands dirty. I’d never been able to decide where she actually didn’t understand that we were truly poor or if she just refused to accept it.” (Page 11, ACOTAR)
• “She would have marveled—likely wept—at the gardens I’d become so accustomed to, at the flowers in perpetual bloom at the Spring Court. (Page 256, ACOSF)
• Saw Elain as barely more than a doll to dress up. (Page 130, ACOSF)
• “When human, Elain had easily been the prettiest of the three of them, and when she’d been turned High Fae, that beauty had been amplified. Nesta couldn’t put her finger on what changes had been wrought beyond the pointed ears, but Elain had gone from lovely to devastatingly beautiful. Elain never seemed to realize it. It was always that way between them. Elain, sweet oblivious. (Page 202-203, ACOSF)
• Elain is pleasant to look at, her mother had since mused while Nesta sat beside her dressing table, a servant silently brushing her mothers golden brown hair, but she has no ambition. She does not dream beyond her garden and pretty clothes. She will be an assist on the marriage market for us one day, if that beauty holds. (Page 203, ACOSF)
• “look who decided to grow claws after all,” she crooned. “Maybe you’ll become interesting at last, Elain.” Nesta saw the blow land, like a physical impact, in Elain’s face, her posture. (Page 232, ACOSF)
• Elain had always wanted to visit the continent to study the tulips and other famed flowers, but her imagination had stretched no further. (Page 281, ACOSF)
• Elain was like a dog, loyal to whatever master kept her fed and in comfort. (Page 348, ACOSF)
• Nesta's throat constricted, and she surveyed the swaying cherry blossoms overhead. Elain would love this place. So many flowers, all in bloom, so much green—the light, vibrant green of new grass—so many birds singing and such warm, buttery sunshine. Nesta felt like a storm cloud standing amid it all. But Elain…The Spring Court had been made for someone like her. (Pg 455, ACOSF)
• Nesta was wrong, Cassian realized, to think Elain as loyal and loving as a dog. Elain saw every single thing Nesta had done, and understood why. (Page 470, ACOSF)
• Elain and I had grown closer since the war with Hybern had ended. True, I might never go out drinking with her the way I did with Mor, and sometimes Amren. And while I might never run to Elain first with problems or for advice, we had a peaceful, amicable understanding. I found her to be a pleasant companion. I wondered if she’d resent that judgement. I certainly would. (Feysand’s ACOSF bonus chapter)
• “I mean, she’s been brave when she had to be, but she’s never been confrontational.” “Maybe she was never given the chance to be that way.” I whipped my head toward him. “You think I stifle her?” Rhys held up his hands. “Not you alone.” He surveyed the study as he thought. “But I wondered if everyone has spent so long assuming Elain is sweet and innocent that she felt she had to be that way or else she’d disappoint you all.” (Feysand’s ACOSF bonus chapter)
• “With some time and safety, perhaps we’ll see a different side of her emerge.” “This sounds dangerously close to what Nesta said about Elain finally being interesting.” (Feysand’s ACOSF bonus chapter)
• “You think Elain’s boring?” “I think she’s kind; and I’ll take kindness over nastiness any day. But I also think we haven’t yet seen all she has to offer.” A corner of his mouth tugged upward. “Don’t forget that gardening often results in something pretty, but it involves getting one’s hands dirty along the way.” (Feysand’s ACOSF bonus chapter)
From both sisters perspective I really don’t think they see Elain as more. The only thing they chalk Elain up to be is some pretty thing who only cares about gardens and flowers and she doesn’t think of nothing beyond that and that she’s content with just doing that. And that she’s need their protection for everything in her life since gardens and flowers is all she cares about. Feyre even stated that she only saw Elain as pleasant companion and that she wouldn’t liked to be known as a pleasant companion herself if she was in Elain’s shoes.
Its obvious that Elain wants to do more, because she wanted to help find the dread trove but she gets shot down by Nesta and Azriel, though Azriel didn’t say it to her face directly.
In Chapter 21 of ACOSF Elain said they can use her to find the trove. Nesta instantly said no, then absolutely not. Then Elain proceeds to say. “Why?” Elain demanded. “Shall I tend to my little garden forever?” (Page 232). The simple statement made Nesta flinch.
Page 311, in ACOSF. “Azriel stiffened, an outright sign of temper from him as he said quietly, “there is an innate darkness to the dread trove that Elain should not be expose to?” “But Nesta should?” Cassian growled. Everyone stared at him.
I don’t get why they were staring at Cassian crazy because I think it’s a valid question. Why is ok for Nesta to be exposed to the darkness but not Elain, especially when Elain said she wanted to help. Why do they get to decide what Elain can and cannot do?
Then after this we seen something from Amren. “She threw a nod toward Azriel. “Elain is more capable of defending herself against the darkness of the trove, if she chooses to. Don’t underestimate her.”
Why are the people (Rhysand, Cassian & Amren) that haven’t even known Elain that long are the only ones to seem to know that Elain is more than just being about flowers, gardens & being pretty? That she can defend herself if they really give her the choice to like she did in ACOWAR. And that Elain is going to be much more than what is happening in her life right now. Her family likes to stifle her and coddle her and I don’t think they will let her be to the best of her ability in the name of protection. Tho Feyre did say that Elain finding the trove was her choice.
But I still really think that Elain shouldn’t stay in the night court. As for right now, I don’t think Elain is seen to be apart of the night court despite the gardens she helps with around it and even tho she says she’s apart of the court. When she wants to help certain people shoot her down and make her play a smaller role.
Nesta was offered a title in the night court but what about Elain? Nesta is having a future of becoming a general of the valkyries for the night court. But I really don’t see a future for Elain in the night court, maybe as a courtier or an emissary since it’s stated how Elain threw a ball for Feyre’s return in ACOTAR and Nesta said Elain used to love balls and parties and flitter around the room greeting and talking to everyone. But Cassian was becoming a courtier in ACOSF already & lucien is their current emissary, but I know he’s not going to hold that position for long.
I know that Elain is pushed to the background to have Nesta’s story and we’ll get more of her when it comes to her book. But from what I have seen so far, I don’t think Elain would stay in the night court. When she’s described Elain is known to be a flower but she’s also know to be described with light. She needs light. She needs sunshine. When in ACOWAR, it stated, “The suite was filled with sunlight. Every curtain shoved back as far as it could go, to let in as much sun as possible. As of any bit of darkness was abhorrent. As if to chase it away. And seated in a small chair before the sunniest of the windows, her back to us, was Elain. (Page 154).” & “What can I get you Elain?”. But Elain shook her head once more. “Sunshine” (Pg 302)
The night court is the opposite of what Elain needs and want. And since she is described as a flower, what do flowers need? Sunlight.
But I also don’t think that Elain is going to be in the spring court. I know I’ve seen theories that oh Tamlin and Elain are actually mates or that Tamlin is going to die and that Elain and lucien will be high lord & lady of spring, yeah no. I think Elain would love to visit the spring court but it’s obvious that Elain likes getting her hands dirty and actually likes the work of creating gardens, what’s the point of her living in spring where there is already gardens and she can’t do the work that she loves?
But I am excited for Elain’s book, whenever we get it and to see all what she has to offer when it comes to her powers and personal growth.

Elain Week 2025 Day 5: Family and Friends
“I have no kin on my father’s side, and my mother had one cousin, who lives on the continent and conveniently forgot about us when we fell on hard times.” Nesta had written letter after letter when they’d fallen into poverty, begging her cousin Urstin to take them in. They’d gone unanswered, and the money for postage had run out. Nesta still wondered if their cousin had ever learned what had become of the relatives she’d ignored and left to die. (ACOSF, pg281)
If Urstin did discover her family in Prythian held influence when the tensions with Koschei increase, perhaps she would finally write back. Nesta would probably say good riddance, but also recognize the importance of helping save all those innocent human lives. As the Night Court’s emissary, and friend of two humans, Lucien would travel to the continent to assist with the growing conflict. Elain would convince everyone getting closer would amplify her ability to see Koschei’s movements, and her kindness would be good for further bridging trust between the humans and faeries.

Numbers in ACOTAR
Tumblr media
This is the first time I'm sharing a theory of mine... I had posted this before on tiktok and Instagram (November 24th, 2023) I am reposting it bc I wasn't satisfied with the layout and it wasn't as detailed as this one. Oh and also English isn't my first language so pls don't mind if theres anything wrong in the grammar or if im bad at explaining xx
There will be SPOILERS for the entirety of ACOTAR series and House of Sky and Breath aka HOSAB!
SJM is known for using numbers like 3, 7, & 13 as symbolic constants in her worldbuilding. They’re familiar, but they’re also intentional. She uses these numbers like most fantasy authors.
However, there are some additional numbers that she has used, which are unusual of her to use and that make them stand out. Let’s take a look at these numbers:
21 & 5
In ACOSF chapter 56 (I will get back to this number later on) Gwyn gifts both Nesta & Emerie a book at Solstice. She tells them both to look at chapter 21 and page 5 (will come back to this number too).
She then tells us that this chapter is about the Valkyries death & Rebirth (aka herself, Nesta and Emerie).
“At the top of the first page, it merely said, Chapter Twenty-One.”
Notice how Twenty-One is written in cursive? Coincidence? I think not. SJM wanted us to notice this.
I noticed the unusual use of number 21 & 5. This was the first time SJM had used these numbers, so I did as Gwyn said. I checked chapter 21 and page 5 of each ACOTAR books to see what the key points of each chapter and page were. Then I also did some research on the number (21) itself as well.
Symbolism of 21
The number 21 in literature isn’t just a number. The number has been found in various works like art, mythology and literature. The number has been used to serve as a symbol of “completion, transition, or personal growth.”  More so the number has also been used to portray “characters’ coming-of-age, spiritual evolution, or a turning point in the narrative.”
As we hear from Gwyn, she made Merill add the Valkyries in a book, in chapter 21. We see that there is a turning point in the narrative with the Rebirth of the Valkyries.
The number is also used in the Bible. It is associated with resurrection. Death and Rebirth.
Now let’s ask ourselves this: Which two characters are associated with Death & Rebirth in ACOTAR?
Answer: Azriel & Elain
“I saw the painting in my mind: the lovely fawn, blooming spring vibrant behind her. Standing before Death, shadows and terrors lurking over his shoulder. Light and dark, the space between their bodies a blend of the two. The only bridge of connection … that knife.” - A Court of Wings and Ruin
(Fawn symbolizes Rebirth)
CHAPTER 21
ACOSF
In ACOSF chapter 21 we see Nesta having a conversation with Elain. The conversation is about wether or not Elain should be scrying for the Dread Troves.
Elain wants to do it, but Nesta doesn’t want Elain to do it. With this they have an argument and Nesta says:
“Look at who decided to grow claws after all (...) Maybe you’ll become interesting at last, Elain.”
“Find me when you wish to begin.”
We see that Elain doesn’t want to just sit and be quiet anymore, she wants to do more, be more involved with helping. There is a turning point in the narrative here and perhaps even a hint at who the next book is about
Let’s also not forget the Feysand bonus chapter is right after chapter 21 so it could count as 21.5 & Feysand talked about Elain: “Let’s focus on helping one sister before we start on the other.” A hint to say  we will first read about Nesta, then Elain.
“I think she’s kind, and I’ll take kindness over nastiness any day. But I also think we haven’t yet seen all she has to offer (…) Don’t forget that gardening often results in something pretty, but it involves getting one’s hand dirty along the way.” “And thorn up by thorns” - Feysand Bonus
Feysand are talking about how there is more to Elain than we know.
ACOTAR
In ACOTAR chapter 21 we see Feyre at Calanmai.
“Everything about the stranger radiated sensual grace and ease. High Fae, no doubt. His short black hair gleamed like a raven’s feathers, offsetting his pale skin and blue eyes so deep they were violet, even in the firelight. They twinkled with amusement as he beheld me.”
This is the moment Feyre meets Rhys. This is the moment where we the readers get introduced to him as well. With Feyre meeting Rhys, there becomes a turning point in the story and as readers we knew Rhysand was going to have a bigger impact on Feyre’s story.
ACOMAF
In ACOMAF chapter 21 we see Feyre at the Weaver’s cottage.
“I froze, the ring now in my pocket of my jacket.”
Feyre gets the ring Rhysand’s mother had given to the Weaver. Rhys’s mother had said only his bride would be able to retrieve it from the Weaver (Which Feyre ofc did) and this ring ends up being Feyre’s engagement ring. Rhys had told Feyre about the ring after she had retrieved it. When they got engaged this ring was important (It’s even on the cover of ACOMAF). Feyre become the first High Lady wearing this ring. A turning point in the narrative; High Lady of Night Court.
ACOWAR
In ACOMAF chapter 21 we see Nesta is starting to train her powers (after being Made) with Amren. Not only that, but we also find out that Feyre is going to the Prison.
“To find my sister and Amren. To see which of them was still standing after their first lesson” “The fewer people who knew about my trip tomorrow to see the Carver, the safer it was”
Nesta training with Amren becomes important for Nesta’s character arc in ACOWAR, but it also becomes important for ACOSF. It also can be seen as a hint given by SJM about Nesta potentially getting her own book (Which she eventually got and again her training her powers were important.
And with Feyre going to the Prison, we get a climpse of Feyre’s future. The Bone Carver shows himself as her son to Feyre.
ACOFAS
In ACOFAS chapter 21 we get into Cassian’s POV for the first time (If we don’t count Wings and Embers). We see that there is something going on between Cassian and Nesta (hinting on the next book is theirs as SJM said; She put breadcrumbs in ACOFAS for the upcoming spin-off books in this book)
“He remained staring after her, that present in his hands. Cassian’s fingertips dug into the soft wood of the small box. He was grateful the streets were empty when he hurled that box into the Sidra.”
Cassian throws away the gift he had gotten for Nesta as she rejects it. This gift was important enough for Cassian to give to Nesta, but when she rejects it, he gets rid of it (seems familiar to another moment right?) The gift gets brought up once again in ACOSF.
(Added: Oh, I just remembered this; let’s not forget Feyre’s birthday is on the 21st of December! And she is 21 when she gives birth to Nyx! Again, Feyre’s birthday was a turning point in the world itself, if Feyre hadn’t been born that day, Prythian could still have been under Amarantha’s rule. with Nyx’s birth, we get a turning point in Feyre’s story, she’s having her own family with her husband/mate and the kid is the heir of Night Court —> Next High Lord)
PAGE 5
Cassian throws away the gift he had gotten for Nesta as she rejects it. This gift was important enough for Cassian to give to Nesta, but when she rejects it, he gets rid of it (seems familiar to another moment right?) The gift gets brought up once again in ACOSF.
ACOTAR & ACOMAF
In ACOTAR, page 5 is where Feyre shoots the wolf (Andras) with her ash arrow. This becomes the beginning of the turning point in Feyre’s story. She shoots a Fae, which leads to her ending up in the Spring Court.
In ACOMAF, page 5 we see Feyre struggling and dealing after everything she had endured Under The Mountain. This also becomes a turning point in Feyre’s story, it’s important for us readers to see, to understand and feel with her. We see that she isn’t doing well mentally.
ACOWAR & ACOFAS & ACOSF
In ACOWAR, there isn’t any pages with the number 5 and that is because Part 1 of the book is there. The Part is called “Princess of Carrion” which is a title given to Feyre.
In ACOFAS, page 5 the twins Naula & Cerridwen get’s mentioned several times. (Who are they friends with? Elain. And who do they get trained by and work for? Azriel.)
And last but not least, ACOSF, page 5 does not exist once again. The fifth page is Part 1 of the book and the Part is called: “Novice”
Novice means: a person who has just started learning or doing something.
This is an indication to Nesta’s journey, her being a Novice in the beginning of her book.
NUMBER 56
(HOSAB SPOILER!)
Now let’s get back to this number before we conclude this whole theory.
Did SJM also give us a hint from HOSAB?
In HOSAB there is someone called BansheeFan56. Now look at the username/address once again... Number 56!
Again, this isn’t a number SJM typically uses and for some reason this number stood out and then I noticed something...
In what chapter did Gwyn give the Solstice gift of Chapter 21 to Nesta & Emerie? (and basically us)
Answer: Chapter 56.
I guess SJM do love to use numbers as a hinting tool
CONCLUSION
Now with everything we know about Chapter 21 & page 5, we can come to the conclusion of who the next book is going to be focusing on.
In ACOSF chapter 21, Nesta notices that Elain is growing. In the bonus chapter 21.5, Feysand talks about how they will focus on helping Elain, after helping Nesta. Nesta’s self healing journey has been written, but her journey may not be over yet. I do think we will see more of her, but I don’t think there will be huge focus on her again like in ACOSF.
It’s time for us to focus on Elain now and there is a lot to discover about Elain.
SJM did say each book in the spin off will focus on a couple and Nessian has had their book now, so I’m certain that Nesta won’t get another book or trilogy.
Numbers has become a pattern in the ACOTAR series.
3 brothers, 3 sisters, 3 stars, 3 peaks, 3 mountains, 7 courts, 7 High Lords etc, but now we can also add 21 & 5 into this.
Chapter 21 gives us a hint for something important that is happening or going to happen
page 5 shows us some turning points as well.
The 21st chapter becomes key to the book and the upcoming one. And the 21st chapter of ACOSF hints for the upcoming book to be Elain's and most likely have Azriel as the love interest since he got a bonus chapter in ACOSF, like Cassian got a bonus chapter in ACOMAF.
Plus both Bonus chapters are focused on Elain as well.
With all that said, I want to say thank you to my friends who has helped and supported me with this theory. And also thank you (reader) for taking your time to read about my theory about SJM’s use of numbers. I hope it makes sense for you guys as it does for me and I hope you enjoyed reading this <33
I also like to thank our Gwynie for giving us the hint that the next book is focusing on Elain <3

Ways to add simple little details to Prythian in your stories!
For the Autumn Court this one is basic and many people use it: Males gift their fiancées, wives, mates fox kits as a symbol of their love and good luck with the relationship. To make it sadder, Beron never did this for Lady A, so when Eris found out about this tradition he got his mom one!
For the Dawn Court: Like how the night court Illyrians put the women down, what if the Dawn Court was the opposite and the Peregryn females would put the males down. In the real world male birds are held to a high standard for breeding, I feel like Peregryn instincts would cause this and it just gives more to a story than the females constantly being the abused. Also they’re stomach/side sleepers. I talk more about this below with the night court just to not repeat myself.
Day Court is full of bastards. You can NOT convince me that it isn’t. Helion is laying the fucking pipe like he’s discovered oil. And the reason I feel this is because of @florencemtrash ‘s story “The Shadow and the Inkbird” (also it’s really good go read it if you haven’t) where the MFC is Helions bastard, and meets Lucien and instantly realizes that they’re halfsiblings. And I was like ya know the Day Court is probably like Game of Thrones Dorne. Dorne is know for their bastards almost every persons name in that city is ‘Sand’ because they’re all bastards basically. So I just KNOW that Helion probably has other kids than just Lucien. And everyone in that court is fucking.
Summer Court has mermaids. It’s basic, it’s simple and it’s true. There’s mermaids.
Night Court, listen we already now a lot about the Nigh Court but this pertains to Illyrian’s so I feel it’s different. They’re stomach/side sleepers. They are. You can’t tell me that two massive wing sticking out of your back would allow you to lay on your back. It can’t be comfortable. Like have you ever tried sleeping with like a ponytail/claw clip in? It ain’t nice. Now imagine it with two that sit right beside your shoulder blades and the clips are like 3ft long? Idk how long the base would be but like probably pretty fucking long to allow actual flight capabilities. Also when they sleep on their side they just have their wings straight out, now like laying on one and the other out. They’ve got big ass beds for a reason spread out. (Cassian fully takes up a bed like star fish style just on his stomach. Nesta is sick of it.)
Spring Court, during the Spring Equinox the High Lord chooses someone to dress up and hand out spring gifts to family’s (usually kids). When Tamlin became High Lord he appointed himself to do so. During this time Tamlin also gives many of the less fortunate families something they can later use for the Tithe.
Winter Court puts on a celebration for the children called Three Kings Day. Family’s with children are welcomed to the castle(? Do they have castles…?) and the bakers leave a cake outside the doors of the family, inside the cakes (this is a real thing from Puerto Rico/France/Spain too btw, the cake is called la galette des rois (Kings Cake)) are toys/coins. Whichever children find them get to wear a crown for the day and called Kings/Queens (Kallias started the tradition that all kids get to do this, he’s a softy).

I think Gywn will be the " Step away from my mate" person in that couple , she will be the one who is more feral and protective ... I am here for that !!!
I think both Az and Gwyn would be mad protective of each other 😍😍😍.... Can't wait to see how Az would react with the knowledge that he has a mate and its Gywn of all people... I am hoping for a ... Holy shit how did I get so lucky moment I won't settle for anything less
Friendly Reminder:
WE ARE GOING TO SEE AZRIEL AS A MATED MALE IN THE NEXT BOOK! HOW WILL HE ACT!?
Will we have a “don’t touch my mate” moment?
AHHH! He’s gonna drop all his money on them! He’s gonna be DOWN BAD!

I feel like everyone always discuss the theories that Gwyn is related to the Vanserra family in terms that Beron is her grandfather or that Eris (or even Lucien) is her father. I also think she could be related to them in some way, but I don’t really feel like either of those fit.
Couldn’t she be related to them through Lady Autumn? Like a niece or a distant cousin or something? We know Lady A had two sisters that died, but maybe she had a brother(s) as well? I don’t think it’s too farfetched to think she did, and that brother is Gwyn’s grandfather, which would make her mother Lady A’s niece and Gwyn her great-niece, and Eris and Lucien her second cousins or something.
Rhys tells us that Lady Autumns family was strong and that’s why Beron wanted a bride from them, and I just feel like maybe Gwyn’s autumn heritage comes from that side of the family rather than being related to Beron.
And I also just think her being cousins with Eris and Lucien makes more sense, rather than her being their daughter. I don’t know why Gwyn’s mother would have possibly lived in the forest house, maybe Lady A took in her niece to help her brother and/or it was a way to hide her away and keep their family name strong and not be associated with lesser fairies like the river nymphs??
I don’t know, I’ve just been thinking about it and I think it would be pretty cool if Gwyn was related to Lady Autumn’s side of the family instead of Beron 💁‍♀️ What do you all think??
